I've taken two vehicles here for exhaust work (weld repair on Jeep exhaust and flex joint on a Malibu). All staff and mechanics were friendly, knowledgeable, and proficient in their craft. Check's is my go-to for repairs I can't resolve at home.

Very personable people and reasonably priced place! Fixed my brakes same day as drop off and when I got my vehicle back I immediately noticed the smoothness in my braking. Quality work and good people that even let me know that I had another mechanical issue that s going to need replacing in the next couple of months! Really was the best first impression I ve got from an automotive shop since I have lived in Stevens Point!

What an amazing shop, friendly customer service,very timely, and relatively inexpensive in comparison to other shops.Edit: I really can't express how great of a job these folks do, was able to get the vehicle up in air and inspect the work. Went above and beyond my expectations and did quality work. Thanks a million again guys!!Edit #2. Yet ANOTHER AMAZING JOB by these guys, they just did our trolley and COULDNT BE HAPPIER !!!!

Brought Subaru Outback in for recurring issue with radiator. They ran diagnostics and charged us. Said everything was fine. Did not listen to what we had to say. Radiator went out within 3 days and now car engine needs to be replaced. Would not recommend Check's Muffler Center.

Took my truck to Checks to get it looked at for exhaust and some suspension work. And they called me with very fair estimates and said they could fix it same day! I was excited to have my truck back sounding better and feeling safer! Ruined my 35000$ jeep. Had the ball joints done, got it back in an un drivable and unsafe condition. The wheel stuck in every position unless you moved it. They threw parts at it for months until they gave up. My jeep still drives horribly and i cant drive it without getting angry. They are not what they were. Hard to find a good trust worthy car repair place in town. Been going to this place for many years. I have been able to trust them with most things. I sometimes don t feel like the full truth is being told or an over repair is always being pushed but stayed with them for a long time through it all. My last service became the most untrusted because my front lights had their screws removed and never placed back in. They noticed my lights didn t line up but had no willingness to adjust them for me (or knowledge). And when I got home and adjusted my lights myself I found a red rag left in the engine. I m human my brain forgets to do things also, but when you run a business a true sorry, a discounted price, and a honest we will do better next time should be put into place. None of that was received. All car places over price. It s a solid sadness any where. Other then this I do like companies that overlook your whole vehicle and are honest with true needed repairs.Service: General repairs & maintenance

It's a shame new owner treats people this way. Labor more than doubled from 3 1/2 years ago. Didn't even bother to deburr tailpipe ends. Will NOT return. Over-exaggerates issues, was told twice that my truck is very rusty underneath and that frame supports were rotting. Even told my wife the same thing when she stopped to pay for it. I examined and only found the one thin metal cross brace rusting away that I have been meaning to change but haven't gotten around to it yet. Frame is fine. Talks down to people with older vehicles, tried to make it sound like my truck wasn't worth repairing, but had no issue charging $500 to replace 2 tailpipes. I guess they should be thankful for jobs and not everyone can afford 60k for a new vehicle! If they break something on your vehicle they don't even the courtesy to tell you they just leave the part sitting on floor. Lied about repairs needed, Given estimate to reseal both exhaust manifolds due to leaking which is amazing because I just replaced one of them a few months ago and I just double checked to make sure it is not leaking and imagine that, no it's fine. So one side is leaking. Apparently drained both my batteries while being repaired as vehicle was stone-dead when I picked it up and didn't bother charging them. This truck sits for weeks at a time and starts every time. Just plain bad business, gives mechanics/technicians a bad name!

Amazing customer service and prices! My whole exhaust was detached and nearly dragging, and they only charged $110 for a 2-3 year patch. Highly recommend Check s if you re in the Stevens Point area. They were fast, friendly, efficient, honest and professional. What I thought was originally a bad wheel bearing turned out to be my brakes. I thought this would take longer but they finished before the day was over. They drove me back and forth to pick up my car after it was done without any questions. Definitely worth the price for the great quality of service.Services: Brakes, Brake service & repair

My daughter goes to college up in Point. Said her brakes were making funny noises. I wasn t familiar with any service repair place so I googled and read reviews about Checks repair. They sounded good and wanted to give them a try. I called on Monday, and could get her car in on Wednesday. They were very helpful and nice over the phone and even offered to give her a ride back to her house if she needed one. They called and gave me an estimate Tuesday night and Wednesday they fixed the car. Good price, convenient and very nice. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for car repair. I got my exhaust fixed and they did a great job! They don t even charge as much as others and they re super fast. They even had it done before then end of the day. I ve taken my car and other family members. It s always a good experience. The service is fast and the job is clear as what needs to be fixed. They don t sell me anything more. The work is fantastic. Got my truck running and sounds great again.

Definitely the go-to repair shop in Stevens Point. Wife and I have had several repairs and maintenance done with them. Highly recommend and never dissatisfied. Call the Boyer's and the gang for the next work you need done. We got ourselves into a real pickle. We live in Fort Atkinson. on On Monday September 26, 2022, my wife had to go to Stevens Point for work early in the morning. Halfway there she texts me to say the battery light came on.I immediately went on the internet and found Check's Muffler in Point. In the meantime, my wife stopped at a service station in Coloma and the guy connected the car to the computer. The verdict was that the alternator was dead. He charged the battery so my wife could make it to point (on a hope and a prayer).I had called Check's in advance and talked with Debbie. They were waiting for my wife when she arrived. They replaced the alternator and had the car running great in just a few hours. They even offered to drive my wife to work (but she had already made arrangements to be picked up).Debbie was incredibly polite and professional. The work seems very good and the price was good. If I lived in Point they would be my go-to service station. Thank you all at Check's Muffler. We really needed someone like you at a time like this.Service: Electrical

I broke down on a Wednesday around 3:30. I went to Check's and they were able to get it towed that same day and look at it the very next morning. I got a call right away Thursday morning explaining I had broken a control arm and the other side was right behind it. I gave my okay to fix it and they had it done the same day! Absolutely amazing customer service and I can't believe how fast they were able to get my vehicle back to me. I will for sure be back with my other car maintenance needs. The service given to me today by Bill and his staff was second to none in the muffler shop industry. I stopped by to have him check the noise from the muffler. They took a look underneath and explained the issue. Gave me a quote and asked if I wanted it done today. My reply was 'yes' and within a reasonable amount of time it was done. I was VERY impressed and would recommend this business to anyone. From the price, to the service and their expertise made the experience excellent!Service: Exhaust
