We have bought multiple engines from S&J and they have all been amazing. Hands down the best running/idling engines we have purchased for our customers vehicles. They have competitive pricing and the best warranty we have come across. They're so good and so busy that sometimes we have had to wait for an engine to be built but that is a small concern for the quality of their engines. The staff are great they always answer any questions. If I could I would only use them to supply engines for our customers.

Overall great experience it was smooth from ordering the engine and delivery was ahead of schedule. Motor has been installed is and running great. First time I have used S&J engines and everything from ordering, pricing, delivery and customer service was top notch. It was a breath of fresh air dealing with a company that still has great customer service. Thanks again S&J keep up the good work.

We have had great dealings with S&J over the years. They always go above and beyond to take care of us and our customers. They've even helped us with warranty issues for customers on engines that our customer bought from other companies that had gone belly up because their name was involved. Can't thank them enough for their ongoing customer support!

Engine was purchased as a gift for a disabled veteran project. Paid extra for them to paint the block. Engine arrived with big chunks of paint scuffed off. Called them and was basically told, tough luck. For a $4000 engine, you would think that their standards would be much higher.Also, the individual on the phone was yelling at someone in the background, if I knew that I was interrupting an argument, I would have called back later.Was also told some merch would be sent out, almost a month later and have heard nothing back.

We tried using engines from this business but the failure rate was way to high. Won't pay on claims and fails to do the right thing when they screw up. You pay for what you get. They will promise you everything and ignore you. Jasper is a much better company and they will actually stand behind there products.If you use a credit card to pay, you can cancel the transaction within three months. Better warranty then what they offer!

If I could give negative stars I would. Zero Integrity business. Backin the 90s when I was enrolled in the SCC Automotive Program S&J wasthe place to go for a quality rebuild. They stood behind theirproduct. Seems they are just another woke company looking tomake a fast buck now. Our dispute is headed to court now so takemy advice and stay far far away from S&J engines.Take note of the fact that they deny knowledge of pretty much every customer that leaves a negative review.

Would like to thank Dan!! (Correct me if I got his name wrong please! Bad with names. )They rebuilt my 5.4 triton 2v and Dan took the time to answer all my questions and I had a lot! Asked me what I m using it for how much I m towing, explained why the setup would or wouldn t work.Showed up to drop off my core and pickup my new one with a trailer and to my horror I didn t realize I was supposed to remove my flywheel and flex plate. (First time doing a rebuild.) Panicked as works busy and it was a Uhaul trailer rental and didn t want to have to come back. He just laughed and said no worries we ll take it all off for you now. Explained the break-in setup and said call back with any other questions.Been saving/waiting a longtime to do this thank you guys!! Port & polish look immaculate!Choose S&J because other guys I work with had a couple motors done by you and have had them awhile and said it went great and motors are all still running strong.

The whole reason I chose to send my customers engine to S&J was because I was told they could fit it in, and have it done within a week. I was given the run around, and finally got the engine back after 3 months, at a ridiculously higher price than what was originally estimated. Extremely disappointed, and will not use their services again

Would not recommend at all. I run a small repair shop in Sweet Home Oregon. I installed a 4.0 they built into a ford ranger for a long time customer. The intake gasket provided leaked right away. I replaced it and that took care of the issue. A few months later the rear main seal started leaking Dan was easy to get a hold of until it was time to pay for my labor. He's ghosted me and the customer for over 6 months now. So when they say they stand behind their work they mean WAY behind it out of ear shot and certainly out of sight. I will NEVER install another engine from them nor would I recommend them to anyone.Update after making my review I was contacted by a representative from s and j engines and a check was sent for most (not all) of my repair bill which is certainly better than nothing. The check however was sent and written to the customer not me. My customer contacted me and let me know. I'm really happy that he was honest about it because I would've never known otherwise. What a guy!!! I don't think you should have to write a bad review to get paid for warranty work so I bumped it up from 1 star to 2 stars. Probably still won't be doing business with them but they did pay something so they deserve credit for that.

So with me a funny story. I own an automotive shop in Lakeside Arizona. Had a retired customer wanting and engine for his 94 ford van. He had time and shopped around. The third place he found was S&J Engines. I had told him I lived in Spokane for 10 years but never heard of them at that time. I told him I would call and I did. The voice on the line even after 20+ years was familiar. Found out it was Dan who I dealt with back in the 90's when he was with Jones Automotive Engines. S&J bought them and got Dan. At that moment I knew I had found my new engine shop. If Dan works for them they build a great product. I was right. They shipped me a perfect 5.8 ltr Ford engine. Absolutely no issues. Customer was happy and since have ordered two more engines from Dan. This was such a great find for me and to catch up with an old friend at the same time. Engines are not easy and with the like of other companies out there that claim to be good I know that when I install and engine from these folks it will be perfect!Thank YouJim RuebhausenJ&SPATRIOTAUTOMOTIVE

Bought my buick 455 engine from S&J. Less than 10k mile, 2 years later the motor went completely out. I sent the motor in for warranty work on Sep 2022. 3 month later after consistently calling them, they told me the motor over heated and want be covered under warranty. They charged me an additional fee. Then 6 month later after getting the motor from them, the motor was still inoperable. The motor looked like it was never touched, they just returned the damaged engine back to me. I called to talk with a supervisor and all I get is a voice mail. When I did speak with Dan who built the motor, he asked me to send him pictures. I did and got no answer after that. I deploy in less than 6 months and they told me I would be ready in 6 weeks which turned to 6 month and I still didn't get any response. I am out of a motor and money. If u value your hard earned money stay away from this place. is sad they would do this to an active Service member and they new I was heading overseas

So far so good! Ordered the block and got great service, built and shipped within 10 days. Time will tell if it holds up to driving, but thus far great experience.

These guys have superb knowledge and build high quality engines! I have purchased many marine engines for customers over a span of 10+ years and never have had one issue. From 3.0 liters to 7.4 liters these guys do it right! Thanks for helping me build my reputation S & J Engine s

The quality of rebuilds are top notch so far. But I have multiple engines that are being rebuilt by S&J and I have two that a 30 days past when they were told to expect them and one they haven t started yet and a couple customers has been waiting for 3 months. Not to talk down on the company the work is great but if you are so far behind hire more people, or if you are short on parts then make sure you let the customer know ahead of time. Thanks.

Edit: Two years later and the engine is still running like a champ with no issues. It's been through extreme heat and extreme cold. Super happy with S&J.Edit: Several months later, and the engine is still running great with no issues.I rarely leave reviews, but I felt compelled to do so here. I received an AMC 242 for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport, and it's a phenomenal engine. Everything was great, from the gasket kit, to the break in oil, to the shipping container (half pallet, enclosed in cardboard.) Engine is running great with no issues. They were great as a company, and worked with me to suit my needs each time it was necessary. I don't plan on buying an engine again anytime soon, but I wouldn't buy one anywhere else.

Called about a 1987 nissan D21 pickup engine. I ve been looking this engine for almost a year. No one had it in stock even when there web site showed different. They had the engine on the shelf. The salesman was knowledgeable and very respectful. I will definitely deal with S&J again.

Sales and service has been top notch. They have fair pricing and give you a realistic ship date based on current supply chain problems. I ll update if the rest of the process doesn t go smoothly but if I don t come back and knock off stars it s because all went well. To many reviews are people that had issues. More people need to complement a good company for just doing a good job.

Ryan was great to work with. He took the time to answer all of my questions (even the dumb ones), and kept me informed on the status of my engine build from start to finish. I appreciated that about Ryan and my experience with S&J.Also, the price is totally fair and the warranty alone is something you likely won t find with their competitors.I m definitely coming back here for my next project.

Customer service was very knowledgeable and friendly. Product shipped within a few hours and arrived in Kansas 4 days later. I've been building engines for 30 years so I checked the tolerances and I must say they were as good if not better than I would have built. I had the long block installed in the boat and back on the water 6 days after placing the order. Engine ran great with good oil pressure and virtually no blow by.

This company has always done me right. With four engines to date. My first engine had an issue and sent it back for warranty and they sent me a new one after there investigation. All around a good experience. The second set was excellent in quality from customer service to packaging and general support questions. The latest engine they took the time to verify the engine was exactly the correct replacement. This is the kind of service that stands out from the crowd.Thank you S&J for your excellence in what you do.JP

Bought two engines from them for different project cars. Fast turn around. They send you all the gaskets and start-up oils. Never had a problem!I now have 4 of their engines... all running strong. 304 international, Ford v10, 390 fe, and 258 straight 6.

Our company has used S&J Engines multiple times for engine replacements. We work directly with Dennis. He is wonderful to deal with. He has great customer service, he is very experienced in his field, and is very knowledgeable. He will direct you in the right direction for your build, no B.S. from him. If we have any questions or concerns he makes sure that he gets us an answer as quickly as he can. This is the best company that we have used to buy engines from. Their engines hold up and they honor everything that they say.

So my Jeep is a home build. Engine has no warranty unless installed by a shop. Mechanic is certified but it was done at home-even though my home shop rivals that of most professional shops. Motor lasted 5 minutes before it started slapping the #1 piston against the cylinder wall. Took it to a REPUTABLE machine shop and was told my motor was a Friday 5 o clock build. No clearances were correct. Cylinders weren t tapered at the bottom correctly, etc the list goes on. Cost an additional $1500 to have the motor re-machined and built correctly. Thank god the guy was able to purchase one piston from Icon. I d stay away from these guys.

Have done business with S&J for about 4 years. They do not honor their warranty.My shop lost 26 hrs of labor on pulling a motor they denied saying they asked us to pull.Come to find out the gaskets they sent (and later said they don t even recommend after the fact) had blownSaid they would send us knew ones but at that point we had already pulled the motor as requested to.The gaskets have still never showed up (we re in week 3) and they refuse to help with the labor of pulling the motor at their request.We finally got ordered gaskets from the dealership in order to get the vehicle back in the road

Dan with S&J goes above and beyond, he not only communicated with us in regards to the engine they built and modified for us but provided trusting and honest information. He is a one man show in the warranty department but his hard work is very appreciated.Thank you S&J for providing an excellent product as well as great customer service!
