I've never dove into an engines bottom end before. Cassell was recommended by a few different people/companies so I gave them a shot. I had them do a hone and bore, balance the crank and order my pistons. Very friendly, fast service, knowledgeable and a decent price. Thank you!

This should probably be a five star review but there were some issues with the shop which installed the motor, with break in and the shop which corrected the first shops problems. Jeff rebuilt a 351W for my 1990 Ford Bronco and showed me around his shop. I can honestly say that I would use them again and it is one of the best laid out, old school, machine shops which I have done business with. Jeff assembles all the motors himself by hand, and has others in their own departments which break them down, clean them and perform the needed machine work. Cassell Engines shop is well organized, clean, and everyone seems to be knowledgeable, friendly, and have good communication which each other, clients and the shops that they work with. Jeff even agreed to stand behind his work, if something came back on him after another shop ran bad gas threw my motor. I think we are safe at this point but will update this review if needed. Thanks again to the Cassell Engines and apologies for the stress caused by others to both of us.

They did an outstanding job on my 390FE custom build and my 304 International motors. I Will definitely use them again.

Took my 68 mustang motor here to be rebuilt. When I got the motor back, the distributor and intake were missing. They are not willing to make it right, and now they are not even taking phone calls from the person who is putting my motor back in. My husband has even called and they are not making it right. We have 3 witnesses that these parts were on my motor when it was taken to them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR MOTOR HERE!!!

Great motor rebuilds. My mechanic recommended them, that's good enough for me.Update - though it took a long time to get everything tuned, this motor seems to be a keeper. I've owned the vehicle this motor is in since it was new (10000 miles). It's a gm 5.7 litre 350. It's smoother than new bc it's internally and externally balanced. It's super quiet under the hood. It wasn't built to be a power monster, but the numbers are much better. It has about 40% more power than stock. It was dyno-tuned at EPC Racing. I'm def happy with the outcome.

Jeff and crew are way more helpful than the norm. Excellent machining and workmanship plus extremely knowledgeable with old and new. Any one considering motor work of any type should consider Jeff Cassell Engines!!!

In the fall of 2019 I dropped off a standard bore 351W roller block to have it checked out. Heather called me within the timeframe she said she would to let me know everything checked out and set up a time for me to talk to Jeff in person to discuss what my expectations were for the final result of the engine. Jeff listened to my expectations and then offered his professional recommendation as to what would work best to give me the performance I wanted while staying within my budget. The end result was to be a balanced 393 stroker with upgraded cast heads and a mild cam. He told me right then it could be 90 days or so before it was done because of his shop load and not knowing for sure how long it would take to get all of the necessary parts. This was understandable and I appreciated being told upfront.Heather was great about staying in touch with me to let me know what was going on. The engine was ready to be picked up in early December and when I picked it up Jeff put it in a secure pallet and loaded it in my truck. He told me if I had any questions or needed anything to let him know.Fast forward to mid April of 2020 when I was able to install the engine and finally fire it off. It sounded good (open headers) and had great oil pressure so I warmed it to operating temp, set timing and carb and checked for leaks. Everything seemed fine although it was hard to hear any engine noise with open headers. Once I was able to get some mufflers on it I could hear excess valve train and lifter noise. As built, the engine had non-adjustable rockers (to stay within agreed budget). I made sure all of the rockers were torqued correctly and everything checked out.Not happy with the way it sounded I emailed Jeff and included a video of it running. He called me in a timely manner and although he couldn t hear the engine in the video he offered to help. I ended up loading the truck on a trailer and took it to him so he could listen to it. He agreed it didn t sound right and again offered to help.It took some time and effort to resolve this issue but in my opinion Jeff went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. The issues with the engine were not a result of anything Jeff did or didn t do but rather some parts issues. Thank you Jeff, Heather and the rest of the crew for your time and for going the extra mile.

Jeff Cassell & Cassell Engines has been building engines for me personally and for my shop for more than 10 years. He delivers a great product every time and has always been a pleasure to work with. There isn't anybody I trust more to build an engine. Thanks Jeff & Crew!

Had a awful experience with Cassell engine. Family member had a engine built for his race car. Engine held together for 8 practice laps and 2 racing laps. So about 2.5 miles. Broke a pushrod which would imply the clearance wasnt correct. Took the engine back to Cassell wanting some kind of satisfaction rebuild, refund, something. They offered nothing, its been a year, they still have the engine and they have not reached out at all with something to make this right. I waited this long to post in hopes they would stand behind their work. Nope! They got their money, we got nothing.

WORST MACHINE SHOP IN SPOKANE !!!!! they don t do anything right would never get my engine built here, they screwed up my block and never returned my crank (stole it ). And I ve heard many more horror stories about them screwing up blocks by installing things wrong. Do Not recommend. TRASH SERVICE . (Don t even deserve a 1 star).

Cassell Engines has always treated me right thru the last 20 years of engine builds, including customer engines that my shop Stromberger Performance has installed. If there ever was a problem, Jeff Cassel has stepped up farther than necessary to make things right. I read some of the negative comments below and as a business owner myself, i know there are just some people you cant make happy. Most issues customers have are self inflicted with junk or incorrect engine parts brought to Jeff to make sense of, parts that were customer supplied 6 months late....and they want the job done in a week. Jeff does an extremely high volume of engine builds and catering to certain individuals that just dont "get it" makes it impossible to keep everyone happy in this instant gratification society we live in. Cassell Engines gets a 5 star review from my shop Stromberger Performance! Thank you Jeff!

Have my 70 Mach 1 up in the Spokane area doing a restomod project for the last couple years. I live on the Oregon Coast. Called around the area to to find a place to balance my Cleveland assembly (not many shops doing this nowadays) Dropped off parts on Wensday and were ready Thursday for a really reasonable price. Very pleased and highly recommended ! Thanks Mike

I called to ask about rebuilding my 2000 Chevrolet Impala 3.8 and I got told "we wont be able to work on that engine" with absolutely no explanation at all...really an unfortunate situation here.. an engine is an engine.. based on the reviews I figured this company would be able to handle rebuilding the 3.8.. apparently I was wrong..***Update ***I was "referred" to a different shop?? I wonder why I was not made aware of this referral??? After I was told "we wont be able to work on this engine" I said ok and the person on the other end said "yup" and the line was disconnected...Call transcript"Hello?"Caller : "Hi, is this the engine rebuilding company?""Yes it is"Caller : "Yes, I have a 2000 Chevy Impala with the 3.8 v6 and I'm wondering how much it will cost to rebuild it""Does that have the 3.3 or the 3.8?"Caller : "the 3.8 v6""We wont be able to work on that engine"Caller : "Ok..""Yup"Line disconnectsThat is the call transcript from the call recording app "Recorder" by Google....I fail to see where I was "referred" to any shop.... let's stick to facts here.. facts are so much better than fiction..

Well I dropped off parts to have an engine built just over 2 years ago, I did not call constantly as I figured it would be built in a somewhat timely fashion. At first I had just asked to have a short block built as I was going to install the heads myself. After time went by I had dropped the heads off to be installed with the rest of the valve train. Understand these were all top of the line speed parts and components for a build that I was extremely excited to have done. So all that was needed was balancing checked on the stroker kit and forged pistons and general assembly. So after a year from the date I dropped off the heads I began calling and asking what was going on. Jeff told me that it is in a corner and had just been forgotten about, that they would get to it. So a few more months went by and it was the week before Labor day and was told it would done after that as they only had a 4 day work week. As the pictures would come up on the Facebook page of engines being built one after another I just figured either my parts were sold, missing, damaged, ruined or something else. Also know I offered to pay money before the engine was built and they would not take any money until it was done. So here sat 5k in components that were collecting dust in their shop. Another engine builder told me he was hearing similar stories, and that some guy had accused them of building an engine with parts different than he had brought in (not saying they did but it made me decide to go get my stuff, as the guy that told me is an amazing and honest guy). I just showed up at the shop, no phone call just took off of work early so I could handle the problem (so lost wages too). When I got to the shop I presented the list of stuff I had left there. There was hardly 5 sentences said to me. No "sorry, how can we make this right.....sorry give me a week" absolutely nothing. Loaded my stuff in the back of my pick up, they handed me greasy rag to wipe my hands and said "have a nice day". Never ever have I had an outfit show such absolute lack of respect and care for their customer. Guess he did not need my business or money. What a joke! Beware of these guys seriously....there are multiple people who have problems getting their engines done in a timely fashion........In reply to what is written below and to the "customer" saying it was junk parts. #1. I had pistons and no machine work other than align honing to the mains and boring was completed. When I dropped off everything I was clear that I wanted everything double checked. Also the decks resurfaced, all components balanced and so forth. So by no means was this a "here is some stuff and make magic situation, it was plan and a simple a customer who expressed clearly what he wanted. So I didnt take my machine work else where and then drop it off, it was how I bought everything and I dropped it off to have it built. You are a machine shop, so I am pretty sure it is in your job description to double check tolerances....new or used! Crank, Rods, Forged Pistons were all dropped off and were brand new. As far as "not knowing what heads he wanted" the pistons were not fly cut for the 23 degree Twisted Wedge heads, so I asked if Jeff (the expert) thought the money would be better spent on AFR heads or fly cutting/replacing the pistons. He said to go with the AFR heads. Now I did decide to ask for them just to build a short block for me so I could finish the assembly. There is a record of the correspondence through FB messenger and I also made phone calls. In that time I purchased the AFR heads and dropped them off. It was not 16 months. To say you were just unable to basically get the motivation to treat one customer as another says enough. But dont throw it off as someone just laid a bunch of junk in your lap and asked for magic, we talked on the phone before I brought parts to you and also went over the parts when I dropped them off. Fact is I was a customer with money wanted a service and it didnt happen.
