I took my Acura here since a bunch of warning lights came up including transmission maintenance. Pete took a look and notified me that there were some computer issues that would have to be dealt with at the dealership. He did not charge for the diagnostic due those circumstances. This situation worked well for me since I usually try to avoid the dealership unless completely necessary. Really appreciate his honesty and will definitely be back.

I was very happy with the work done on my vehicle's rear axle. Both the customer service and work was very professional and I trusted their knowledgeable diagnosis. I did call around the King County area and felt like I was given a good price and that's important since drivetrain repairs are among the most expensive that you'll make on your car. I was also surprised how quickly it was done, considering how much work was involved. From the initial diagnosis, to getting the parts, and driving away finished - it was all done much quicker than I thought it would have taken.

Pete is the best! He basically rebuilt the entire drivetrain on my Tacoma in a couple days and it has been working flawlessly ever since!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I cannot emphasize enough!!! Had to have truck towed here and was basically hamstrung and got charged 3X more than any other place said they would have charged me! He put a rebuilt Jasper differential in and each one lasted less than 1000 miles. Had all future work done at a different highly regarded transmission shop. Our family nearly got stranded several times because of Jasper failures but were able to limp back home! Unfortunately, the other transmission shop owner and I had to both fight with Jasper to get refunded after the 3rd Jasper replacement also failed. Had a new one built and installed correctly by the new transmission shop for a small fraction of the cost Renton Transmission charged me. This was after several months off and on without a vehicle and getting screwed in the first place!!!

Pete at Renton Transmission did an amazing job with a transmission swap from a Tremec T5 to the new Tremec TKX in my 1994 Mustang GT. This is not the simplest of tasks and Pete handled it quickly and professionally. I first went in to consult with him to see if he'd even do it and after lots of great advice I went to my task of researching and buying all the new parts required. This including everything in between the engine all the way back to the rear differential. The new transmission sat a little lower than the old one and needed to have the H-Pipe modified to make it all work. No problem! He simply took the car to Kevin at Lifetime Muffler in the same parking lot and it was all taken care of. I would highly recommend Pete to anyone I know for any transmission work needed. It is very refreshing to know that there are still upstanding, honest mechanics out there that care about their customers and will do things the right way.Service: Transmission

Overpriced service, rude staff. Asked about fluid change, was quoted way more than a dealership quoted me. Couldn't even give me a normal explanation why they overcharge so much, instead "well then have them do it"At least saved me the hassle of dealing with trashy service

Firstly, Renton transmission was referred to me by the very good auto parts store, Baxter on 4th. I asked those guys if there was a shop that would Be trustworthy and genuine and I wouldn't have to worry about getting ripped off. Their immediate respon was Pete over a renton transmission. They didn't even hesitate. I was seen the next day and my vehicle was repaired the day after. It required a front seal and a transmission pump seal. Prices were reflective of prices in the market. Vehicle was clean when I got it back and drives like a top. I will recommend this company to anyone who needs it I will not take my vehicle anywhere else again.Service: Transmission

Stopped by here right at closing after a quick change oil place caused my transmission to slam between gears. They could've just sent me away but instead they confirmed that the transmission was probably fine and it was likely a damaged MAF or plug. I ran down to O'Reilly and cleaned the MAF and discovered the oil place had disconnected my Throttle body harness from the bottom of the air filter housing. Was able to fix it myself in a couple minutes because Renton Transmission was kind enough to take 5 minutes to point me the right direction. You can tell they are an honest shop and if I was in Renton needing transmission work, I'd definitely start here.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

I've had my truck worked on twice here. The prices are fair and he knows he's craft. And if there's an issue he will definitely call u and let you know, so you can handle it accordingly. I definitely recommend this business as a local good business!! Wish i could give him 6 stars!!

I came in to this shop claiming my transmission was bad. It was a few months ago. Pete called me back the next day and said the transmission is not bad. I took it back and he was right and I got my car fixed elsewhere for 80 dollars.This is a rare honest transmission shop. I will be back to this shop if I need work done.I am a car guy and a mechanic. I am very impressed with this shop. Thanks Pete

Great place for all of your vehicle repairs! HONEST and professional service. I visited for what I was told was an issue and after inspecting my truck, I was told the issue didn't exist. I was able to hold the original dealership accountable. I highly recommend Renton Transmission and will be doing business with them in the future. I appreciate honesty and integrity!!

My cars transmission gave out a few weeks ago. We needed a place to do diagnostics to figure out what was wrong with it. Called them and the guy was very straightforward, easy to talk to. Not at all cocky and pushy like some of the other shops we called. Ended up towing the car here, got it looked at and decided to hold off on repairs until we figured out what we wanted to do with it. We were expecting to pay him for taking a look, but he said he wasn't going to charge for it. Even let us keep the car there an extra day until the tow company could come get it. Honest company, would definitely trust them with repairs.

These guys were so nice. My sister-in-law has been going there for years. She highly recommend this place. Their relationship with the lube place next door is amazing. I haven't even had my car worked on yet. They gave me a great estimate which compared to the extremely horrible Sound Ford maintenance people was a fraction, but anyone who knows Sound Ford (I get free oil changes there) knows they will embellish and find 20 things wrong with your car before you leave. My headlight was out on Labor Day. I couldn't find no one open but Firestone in the area (yuck) and I knew I had to get it replaced before the one went down. They said they would charge me $100 because they had to remove the front fender in order to replace the bulb (crickets started). I said thanks and left...they thought I was "Boo Boo the Fool". I took the bulb I bought at Auto Zone, went to Renton Transmissions to see if they were open. They started laughing when I told them what Firestone said. They said "pull up". Popped my hood, took a drill and took out the screws, threw away the old bulb, put in the new one, and said "we're done"...this was less than 5 minutes (Firestone said it would take 6 hours). I'll write my next review once I get the other work done.

Pete took in my sons car for a transmission issue in which another shop (VANS AUTO) wanted to replace the whole transmission. Pete originally said the transmission needed replacing but relooked at the issue and found a $200 part had broke off and replaced it. He could have easily said the transmission required replacement but instead called and said I found it and repaired the car the same day. This is the second time he has shown me honesty and workmanship. high marks and great shop!

Do not take your vehicle here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!There web site says they offer free diagnosis, free evaluation, free towing etc. The web site also says call to schedule a free preliminary diagnosis with an honest evaluation and free local towing (with rebuild). I called on Thursday to schedule an appointment & confirm that it was a free diagnosis & free evaluation, I was told by the owner to bring my car in anytime that I could leave it for a couple hours & he confirmed that it was free. I brought my car in Friday morning at 8:30am and explained to the owner what was going on with my car. He took my name & number and said he would call me in a couple hours. Four n half hours later the owner called and said he put 30 miles on my car & drove it for 1 hour and didn't know what was wrong with it but from what I explained to him what it was doing it sounded like it needed to have the rear blade coupling replaced. I asked if they could replace it, he stated yes so I asked how much it would cost and he said he didn't know. How could they not know how much it would cost?????? When I went and picked up my car they gave me a bill for $111.00. When I explained that it was a free diagnosis & evaluation I was told by the owner that NOTHING is for free. After saying a few choice words and arguing with the owner for 10 mintues he finally told me to take me car and get out.So take this advise........ DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS, THEY WILL RIPE YOU OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brought my truck in after dumping transmission fluid assuming the worst. The team at Renton Transmission got my truck looked at fast and they let me know no damage was done. All I needed was a new seal and fluid. I am glad I found a transmission shop in Renton that is honest and can do work quickly.

Pete is awesome! Brought my truck in thinking I needed a torque converter replacement but after inspection Pete suggested just a transmission flush. That solved the shuddering issue and saved me a ton of money. Thanks Pete for your excellent service and follow up.

I thought there was a transmission issue with my truck, so I brought it in. After a diagnostic, they found that the transmission was fine, and told me to come pick it up. No attempts at selling unnecessary services, bogus "flushes"or anything else. Yes, they charge for diagnostics, but considering you often need to crack open a transmission to see what's wrong, this is completely understandable. They will apply any diagnostics fees toward work you may need.

This was the 4th place I went to get my humming noise checked out on my 2009 chevy cobalt SS Turbo checked out. All the other places wanted $50-$75 dollars to check it out and one other place that didn't charge me JUST took a look at it sayed it was my Transmission not my Right front wheel bearing like I thought but I wanted to make sure. I brought my car in and he said "Pete" No problem give me like a couple of hours to check it out. He called alittle later and said "yup its your wheel Bearing" I have it in and can installed it today.. Great customer service and awesome job.. I will be doing back for all my car needs.. Now my car drives like new. No More Annoying sound..

Years ago, I took in my TH350 and a box of trans parts after I was in over my head. The guys put it back together correctly, saved my mess, and even used the rebuild kit I had. They didn't have to do that at all, but that transmission shifted perfect when they were done.

I walked into this business mistaking it for the garage since i haven't gone to any of the shops in the area. When I walked in I asked if I was in the right place and the man at the desk scoffed at me and said "no, can you read the sign?" was very rude and unprofessional.

I've been using Renton Transmission for years, ever since my automatic in an impala started leaking in 2006. Pete was kind enough to also repair a leaky speedometer cable while he worked. I intend to keep using his shop for years to come!

Where is the 0 star??? If you don't want save money then go to different place. THIS PLACE IS BIG SCAM!!! THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU ABOUT EXTRA CHARGES AT STARTS AND LATER HE WILL POINT OUT SIGNS HE HAS IN HIS OFFICE, WHICH YOU EXPECT TO READ. I AM FILING COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS WITH BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
