Simple rooms free of modern gadgets with mountain views plus an on-site shop & restaurant. This simple lodge in a 1911 cabin set is 3.5 miles from the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier National Park and 2.4 miles from Ashford. Rooms come with private or shared bathrooms, and all are furnished in a basic style. There are coffeemakers, but no phones, TVs or Internet. There's a full service restaurant on-site and afternoon tea is served in the library. Seats on the front porch offer panoramic mountain views. An on-site shop sells groceries, souvenirs, firewood and ice, and there's snow-shoe and cross-country ski rental in the winter.

We visited the national park during off season. Probably only a quarter of the rooms were occupied. We travelled with our little kids, so we booked a room with 2 beds as we have been doing for several years. Surprisingly, the front desk refused to let us check in because the room is for 2 people. It s already freezing and pitch dark outside, so I was a bit upset. Fortunately, the lady was able to switch us to a room with 3 beds. The heater was ancient and did not work well. But the staff, service, cafe and guest room were wonderful. Despite the initial surprise, we really enjoyed the stay. Fantastic location!!!

Incredibly friendly staff, great service, good food. Amazing views from the front porch. Rooms are basic but fine if you know what to expect. Incredibly peaceful once all of the day guests leave the area.Noteworthy details: Views from the front porch are amazing.

The lodge itself is lovely but two issues. First, as the summers warm they need to acquire fans that are actually useful --window and large circulating fans for the room. And the dining experience was very so-so and slow even an easy breakfast. For dinner we ordered a wild rice salad that had almost no rice and it was not cooked. Any, this hotel could be superb but needs a little tweaking.Rooms: see notes above.

We loved our stay at the National Inn. We stayed there while visiting Mount Rainier, the day before heading to Paradise. We had a wonderful view of Mount Rainier directly from our room!! (honestly better view from here than from the Paradise Inn while cheaper room). The staff was super friendly and helpful, they do a really good job at also explaining the history of Longmire, the Inn and Mount Rainier, vintage photos, a board game room. Adorable lodge. It is well maintained and clean - if anything, hikers at the end of our day brings the dirt in. Bathroom is shared but functional. The food was really good, they cooked the meat right outside on a grill and the green beans were locally grown (so so good). It was an adorable rustic feel to our hiking vacation in Mt Rainier, loved it!

For what and where this lil inn is, and the history of this place, you can't ask for much more nor have super high expectations. It's in the national park. We were well prepared that there would be -No cell service. -No wifi. -No tvs. -Simple small rooms. -Simple basic food. - Quiet time 9pm-7amWe got a room with a private bathroom vs the sharable. Small draw backs: The bed was swooped and not very comfortable. The shower pressure was very weak. The staff was a bit slow in the dinning room.

The restaurant was delicious. Service was great. Unfortunately we got there at 5:15 and the gift store was closed. But we would highly recommend it. The history is amazing.

Only came here for the restaurant as we passed through on the wonderland trail. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and most of the food was a delicious break from trail food. Highly recommend the Marionberry pancakes for breakfast and the burger for lunch!

Right after the entrance of National Park in forested setting. Hikes around it are mostly forested w/ limited views. Better location Paradise Inn if available. It prevents you from dealing w/ lines to access the park in the morning. No wifi nor cell service at all. Wifi available at visitor center only. Check-in experience mixed w/ one very unmotivated and one friendly staff member. Tiny, dark, sticky basic room at $310 - it was August. The price to reside in the park. Diner was poor ( burnt, warmed up Gnocchi) at $30 but the cost to ge in the park.Rooms: Small, basic rooms w/out amenities

Pretty views and wonderful historic property. The room was comfortable. I grabbed a salad from the restaurant and enjoyed the views on the porch. Staff was short but both ladies were very nice. Coffee was provided at the front desk in the am. Parking was an issue because there are no designated spots for guests.

Its a decent hotel but there is no network, wifi, TV or any other form of entertainment(didn t really expect much from it). The food is pretty basic as well nothing special and not lot of options. If you are vegan you are pretty much screwed. No breakfast as well. There are really good trails just outside though which makes it worth it.

Our experience at the National Park Inn in mid September was excellent, from the clean simple room to the delicious food. While the dining room was closed, we were able to order from the menu and eat the food take out style on the front porch or in the sitting room. We never had any issue finding a place to sit. From our seats on the front porch, we were able to see Mount Rainier. They also had a warm drink menu. After hiking all day, We enjoyed sitting on the porch and having a warm adult beverage...my favorite was the Camp Muir...it was hot chocolate with peppermint and a few other ingredients. So good on a cool day with beautiful scenery. For lunch I thought the grilled chicken sandwich with pineapple was delicious (and a little messy with the sauce). For dinner a couple of our favorites were the steak, salmon, and bison meatloaf. The mashed potatoes, asparagus and broccoli sides were very good.

I had a late check-in after restaurant closing time and restaurant staff were amazing (5 stars to them) as they let me warm my own food in the only microwave in the inn. Though the morning staff at frontdesk (one star or 0.5 star) denied to warm up food and said they only do that for food bought from the inn, probably a ploy to get more money from you. I was able to drive up few miles up and got that done at cafe in Paradise inn without any issue.Though the location is great as you can see Rainier from its front or gift shop.

Cant rate the rooms honestly, didnt stay. However came in for food after a long hike and it was what you'd expect for a expensive lodge. Good food, super expensive for how little you get though. Wish there was cheaper less fancy alternatives. However the location is beautiful. Its what you would expect from a lodge on a beautiful snowy mountain.

We stayed 3 nights in this quaint Inn. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are a little tight, but there were just two of us, so it had everything we needed, just keep in mind if you have a larger family. Each room had a fan, but because we were local, we also brought our own, due to the heat wave at the time. Reservations are highly recommended for dining as they are short staffed and only have so many slots available. We only ate our dinners at the inn since we spent our days hiking. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the lemon chicken, pork chops, meatloaf (best I have ever had!), smoked salmon spread, salads (loved the raspberry vinegarette), and the blackberry crumble with vanilla ice-cream. So good! We stayed over a long weekend and never had any issues with parking. They offer guests complimentary ice, but keep in mind they can run out, dependent on demand. They also offer free coffee and tea for guests. In addition to dining, they sell grab and go options like breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, cheese and crackers, muffin tops, etc. The front covered deck is a relaxing spot to take a break and enjoy the view of Mt. Rainier (see pic). There is a nice general store next door that sells snacks and gifts. While this information is available on their website, please note that they do not have an elevator or air conditioning. Still, it is a lovely Inn, built in 1907. Also, be sure to check out the trail loop across the street. You can see one of the original Longmire Resort cabins and hot springs spa; very interesting.

Lovely location to stretch yours legs and watch the un-obstructed views of Mount Rainier. It has a nearby shop, and the restaurant offers only at select time.Right across is trailhead for both avid hikers and taking a small stroll.

Loved our waitress, she was very funny/sweet! The food was pretty mediocre though unfortunately, (aside from the pear bruschetta appetizer, which was delicious!) and they sat us at a table in the middle of the room for valentines dinner despite there being numerous other more intimate/private corner tables that never were seated as it was slow, so that was a bit of a bummer.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is that it is located inside the nation park. Other than that, there is not much to like.Pros: Located inside the national park, great views, historic location, decent rooms.Cons: No cellphone reception, wifi, TV, AC, breakfast. The restaurant serves terrible food.

Wouldn't recommend this inn to anyone.Highly expensive, just for the view, outside. The room was far from comfortable, no amenities at all, not even a closet, or a hang..Part of the bathroom is in the room, and just a sliding door, for the rest. We couldn't find another place, in the Park, or on the nearby. The recepcionist was a great disaster, on the afternoon. I had my food bag, for the road, and they didn't have the courtesy of keeping my ice bars, in their restaurant, which was, by the way, closed because they didn't have enough employees. So, what to say, just coffee on the reception, at breakfast, nothing more.

If you are planning on staying close to rainier to be able to hike, i would highly recommwnd staying here or paradise inn. They are both within the park limits so you won't need to fight the extremely large line in the morning to get into the park since you are already on property. You can go later to check in so you avoid the park entrance lines and then get up early to ensure a parking spot up at paradise lodge or a side lot. The rooms are clean but be aware there is limited cell sevice and no wifi within the rooms. There is a slight walk to get to wifi if needed though. The food is to go only but is a decent menu for being a park run hotel. There is a general store on property to grab hiking essentials and gifts if needed. Also, for the summer, there is no AC in the rooms so keep that in mind if a deal breaker during hot days. One of the best features is that you can see rainier right out on the covered porch where you can eat your meals.

Service at restaurant was great but worst customer service at the general store. Young lady cashier was rude.Food & drinks: Our Viator bus stopped by for lunch and to explore Longmire. The clam chowder and chili soup hit the spot on a snowy day. Restaurant was clean and the Server was great.Noteworthy details: We went to buy souvenirs at the General Store in the afternoon of Nov. 6th. There were 2 cashiers, a man and a young lady who had an attitude. She does not have good customer service. I bought goods worth more than $50 and she did not bag them. I told her that I want a bag. She replied , so you want a bag???? I said yes this young lady should NOT be a cashier and be taken at the back so she does not have to interact with people just plain rude!

Patty at the front desk is very aloof. She paid zero attention to any guests who approached the desk. The other girl (didn t get her name) tried to be helpful but she gave us wrong information that wasted a good part of our day. The restaurant is way overpriced. I paid $40 for a drink and a chicken dish in a small takeout box. The food was just okay, and I had to fight for a filthy table on the porch where I could eat it (restaurant still closed due to Covid). Overall the experience was not terrible, but could have been much better

We stayed at the lodge for three nights, and had dinner in the lodge dining room one evening. The room was simple but comfortable. Plenty of hot water in the shower. The bed was comfortable, though getting a bit worn down. The floor in our room had a noticeable slope: one of the signs of a 100+ year old building. For dinner we had steamer clams for an appetizer, and split an order of the pot roast. Both were delicious. I wish I could make pot roast like that, actually. Service was efficient. Prices a bit high, perhaps, but decent value overall. The main floor of the lodge consists of the lobby, the large dining room, two guest rooms, and a lounge area with a fireplace. All quite cozy. Most of the guest rooms are on the second floor, and several of those have spectacular views of Mt. Rainier. There is a porch that runs the length of the building on the north side, facing the mountain, with about 20 chairs and a few tables. It offers a truly amazing view of the mountain, and is an excellent place to read, have a beverage, and enjoy the weather and the view. There are numerous hiking trails in the immediate area, and a small ranger station / museum about 50 yards from the lodge.

We didn't stay at the Inn however we did try to get breakfast & then lunch at the restaurant today (Jun 26, 2022).What we were exposed to left much to be desired. Let's start with coffee. The woman manning the front desk was rather annoyed we asked for coffee even though this is part of what they (the National Park Inn) offer. They sell it along with random snacks, donuts, chips, cheeses, etc. We watched her get annoyed with some patrons as they were checking out & in the process asked a question regarding the trail that started across the street from the Inn. She gave very annoyed short responses to their questions to which they seemed to finally give up & left. She responded this way toward 2 other patrons as we waited for our turn & then to me as I asked for more sugar for my coffee. Then we came back for lunch. My husband was standing IN THE DOORWAY looking at the menu when the hostess (a different woman) proceeded to close the doors on him. He said "ok, I guess we won't be having lunch here then..." She took the menu he was looking at & said "ok" & continued shutting the door on him. The menu stated the restaurant closed at 3:30pm. The lady shut the doors on my husband at 3:20pm. It would have been no issue if the woman would've explained they aren't taking anymore patrons but she didn't. She just closed the doors on him. I would not recommend this place for coffee, food or customer service. They are very rude!
