One of the most difficult realities one has to face is to acknowledge that while you know how to do your own car repairs, you simply don't have the resources to perform the work. With that being said, I begrudgingly called Skagit Transmission for an estimate/diagnosis regarding a Dodge Journey with the 62TE Transmission. While I was confident as to what was wrong with the Journey, Stephanie stated that their shop would perform a diagnostic and attempt to determine what exactly was wrong with the transmission. I received a call from Stephanie that they needed to do more extensive diagnostics to determine the problem and at minimum it would be two hours of labor. I was extremely skeptical as I thought this was a pretty straightforward common problem for this type of transmission. Stephanie explained that after they determined the exact problem and I gave approval to move forward with the repair, the shop would waive the two hour diagnostic labor. With some hesitation I told them to go ahead and perform the additional tests needed to pinpoint the problem with the transmission.The following day I received a call from one of the technicians stating he believed it was the torque converter but was having issues communicating with the PCM ( Power Control Module). After we both agreed that the symptoms I was experiencing neither of thought it was a Computer problem. With that I authorized Skagit Transmission to do the work. Stephanie had given a quote prior to any work being done so I knew I was looking at a rather large bill. Stephanie also stated the Journey wouldn't be repaired for another week or so as they had several cars ahead of mine. The Following Tuesday I received a call from Stephanie stating that the Journey was ready for pickup. I was absolutely astounded, ( I actually thought they'd decided not to do the repair) so I called Stephanie back and she confirmed the repair was completed FIVE days earlier than expected! I then asked Stephanie what the total would be and again to my amazement the final bill was nearly %20 LESS than what Stephanie quoted me!I've never trusted ANY repair shop as I got burned twice and have always done my own repairs ever since. Skagit Transmission quite literally restored my faith in HONEST automotive repair shops. They were straight forward, diligent and very professional! Stephanie reassured me that if ANY issue came up regarding the Transmission, they would " Take care of me". What a breath of fresh air. I've driven over 200 miles since the repair Tuesday ( 3/05/24) and NO ISSUES! I rarely give 5 star ratings when it comes to businesses but in this case, Skagit Transmission earned it. I'd unequivocally recommend Skagit Transmission! Great personnel, professional and extremely proficient!

I received excellent service here. They replaced my transmission, expediting the process as much as they could while being professional, kind and empathetic during my time of need! They included a three year warranty that follows the vehicle should I sell it too. That's a nice peace of mind to have after unexpectedly having the transmission go out on an otherwise reliable truck.I highly recommend Kayle and Skagit Transmission for your automotive needs. TLDR: I Did NOT have an appointment, but they helped me with a transmission problem anyways (took less than 20mins), and then refused to take payment for their time (it was an easy fix for them to do, but a laymen like myself would have probably never figured it out...)I was stuck in Mount Vernon (I'm from Bellingham), leaking transmission fluid pretty bad, and quite desperate- after giving me some advice on how to get home safely (if I didn't opt to leave my car with them), one of the Mechanics (Richard) stopped what he was doing, came out and asked for my keys. He proceeded to bring my car into the shop and started diagnosing it right away. Within ~15 minutes, him and the other technician (Nate) came back to the lobby, informed me that one of the parts (cap/housing?) on my transmission was loose, and that they had fixed it and topped off my transmission fluid. When I asked them how much I owed, they said not to worry about it and told me to get home safe :)I am so grateful that businesses like this still exist, who employ people who would drop what they're doing to help a complete stranger having a rough day, and then refuse payment for their expertise. Evaluated my transmission with a recommendation that it be replaced at a cost over $7000. I requested the diagnostic evaluation in writing from Kayle (owner) on 2 separate occasions. Despite his agreement to provide this he never came through. I would recommend getting a second opinion if you have a similar experience or just start with another shop.Disapointed.........I appreciate your response. It would seem odd that a customer would make up a complaint like this. I do understand that these Subaru CVT transmissions are difficult and expensive to repair. I am just requesting a summary of your diagnostic findings.Service: Transmission

These guys are great. Informational, they go out of their ways to be helpful to make sure we got the best. Even offered to move our trailer because our truck wouldn't be ready when I made an appointment. Totally recommend them.

They are amazing. We had our transmission rebuilt in our Ford F150 less than 3 yrs ago. A bolt that holds the transmission came loose and it started leaking. We took it back to them and they fixed it within 1 business day for no charge. Love doing business with a family owned local business.

I went to Skagit transmission a couple of times for different work and never had one bad experience. The most previous work done was a little over a year ago had a transmission replaced, they cost just a little more than your competitors but the experience the machanics have behind them is priceless!!!. My truck runs like it just came off the lot 22 years ago!!!

Awesome work by an awesome staff! Glen personally took me through everything he does and includes in his transmission build before I ever brought my truck in. Staff was polite and knowledgable, Stephanie was also very helpful before and after the truck was worked on. My '01 powerstroke feels like a new truck now with a built 4R100, shifts are firm, trans runs cooler, and motor is working less. And all this at almost $2k less that the big name trans. shops. Happy to keep my business local with a group that stands behind their work. I won't take my truck anywhere else.

No wonder these guys have been in business for 60 years! Integrity always pays! Thank you Skagit Transmission for your honesty and integrity about my 96 GEO Metro! While we won't be replacing the transmission on it, I very much appreciate the free inspection and the time taken to give me a fair estimate. Because of this, I will be back with my Impala, Jeep and Accent for service work and whatever needs may arise on those vehicles as time goes on. I'll see you guys next week for the Impala! Big thanks to Kayle & Richard over at Skagit Transmisson, they ve always looked over new cars we ve bought from the most minor issues to major issues. They ve been nothing but amazing to our family with fair pricing & PPI. Here s what he found within a new vehicle purchase within a quick PPI which could have gone very very bad fast if we kept driving the vehicle the way it was thinking we just bought a new to us truck and should be fine! Had them rebuild the tranny on my '07 Wrangler. Nice folks. Fast and quality work. Even ended up charging me less than the original estimate by $400.I would recommend them to anyone.

Can't say enough good things about this Transmission shop. Avoided a full transmission re-build and the knowledge and expertise is better than anywhere I've ever been. If your having transmission issues or just need a fluid flush and change, this is your shop!!

They didn't awesome job rebuilding my automatic transmission and they also put pause the unit and axles in my rear end from 1970 Monte Carlo and they did an excellent job and he did above and beyond to help me get my speedometer correct cuz I changed gears in the rear end highly met this place they'll take care of you they do you good and if I need any other help that's where I will go

Had work done on the old truck by a shop in Sedro Woolley. Paid a lot of money and time for shoddy work, to include a remanufactured transmission. Have to call BS on that. However Skagit Transmission rebuilt my A727 quickly with a reasonable price. Transmission works great now, can really feel the motor working easier. Will recommend Skagit Transmission from here on out.

This is an honest shop that does great work. I do most of my own work but they do my transmissions and differentials--that is pro level work and requires special tools.
