Randy is a great guy! I ve had to take my truck back 3 TIMES. My transmission is STILL leaking. This is AFTER I ve paid him OVER 2700.00! He did eventually fix the issue . The truck is no longer leaking! It s running smoothly. They will work with you until the issue is resolved.

Randy and his team are amazing! Took my 07 Avalanche in and he rebuilt my transmission and a couple months later replaced my ABS module and now she's running like a dream! Thank you Randy!

Randy and his team are absolutely amazing! They very quickly identified the issue I had with my vehicle and were able to repair the next day. I just dropped off my car in the morning when they opened and I got a call early afternoon stating it was done. It's so difficult to find great mechanics that are as friendly and knowledgable as Randy and his team. Highly recommend for anyone.Service: Auto maintenance

I took my car in for a leak in the power steering system on Monday morning. They got to the car on Tuesday and said that the low pressure hose was leaking and wanting authorization to fix it. They also said that the oil filter housing was leaking. I told them to fix that too. The car was ready for pickup on Wednesday evening. The total before the oil leak was around $266.00. The final total was around $540.00. They gave me a lot of double-talk but could not explain the cost difference to my satisfaction. I will not go back there again and will not recommend it to anyone else.

Randy provides GREAT customer service! He takes the time to explain in detail the diagnosis of your car & provides his professional opinion on what the repairs should be. We had trouble with our Jeep Liberty. I know a few things about cars, so I was a little concerned it would be very costly if not properly diagnosed. Randy and the crew took their time to properly diagnose the problem and quickly repaired it for us. Quality and affordable work do not always go hand in hand. We are very grateful for their professional work ethic. They completed the work on our Jeep and it is up and running smoothly again. It is a family vehicle, the last thing I want is for my wife or children driving anything that is unsafe. Thank you American Transmission Center Team!

If i could give this place more than 5stars i would. They have fixed two of my vehicles and were very honest about everything i needed to get done and at a very reasonable price. Randy and Malcolm have found a new customer in me and my family for sure. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. I'm so glad I was referred here. I was so worried about my transmission not only being repairable or not but if I would even be able to afford it. The Firestone at Chimney Hill referred me and said "If it can be repaired, Randy is the best at American Transmission Center" He was right!Randy, the GM, was beyond friendly and patient. He took the time to explain and detail the needs of my car and also found trouble with my breaks. Not only was the transmission affordably repairable, but they repaired my breaks as well, all within my price range! And got it done in one day! Did I mention that they towed my car to their shop for me on top of everything else? I needed a new battery as well and they sent me right to the place they recommended (who even installed it for me) and gave me a jump to get there. Now my old car is running great and I'm not going to be stuck in the house all Summer. It was an awesome experience. I highly recommend this company for your car repair needs! His help saved my day, my car and my wallet! A-1 service all around! Thank you Randy!!

Definitely a Five star location. I approached Randy at 0800 on 9/14 and asked if he could fit me in (all bays were full) and check / replace a bad headlight on my 2013 Ram Big Horn. Without hesitation, he told me to pull it in front of the bay. Then he and his partner both spent approx 1hr replacing the bulb. HE ordered the replacement bulb, and approx 1hr later I was on the road again. And when I asked what I owed, I was pleasantly surprised when he gave me a number amazingly lower than I estimated. I would recommend this location to any one. Randy is a straight shooter, with an amazing business sense, and extremely knowledgeable and technically proficient. I was very pleased with the service I received.Randy went above and beyond to diagnose my AC problem.There was something about a "relay" that even the Lexus Dealership couldn't find in their drawing (as if the part didn't exist).Randy wouldn't let up but "dug deeper" into the problem.He even goggled the Lexus "fuse box drawing", hoping to find a clue to this "mysterious relay" location on it.....no luck there.After spending nearly 3 1/2 hours diagnosing this issue, Randy finally concluded that this was definitely something "electrical" that was beyond his shop capacity to diagnose.Afterwards, he immediately called Andy's Auto Electric to advise them that he was sending me over for a electrical diagnosis....I made the appointment right away.Needless to say, this was more than I expected and it blew me away.Not once did Randy's demeanor change "out of frustration", he remained the cool and calm gentleman I initially met when I first set my appointment the day before.I will definitely, recommend to friends and family."KUDOS TO RANDY, THE RECEPTIONIST, THE MECHANICS and of course last, "but not least", American Transmission Center (1613 Independence Blvd shop).Keep up the good work....Your "Customer Service" is out this world!!!!!!Services: Electrical, Air conditioning

My son's car really need some TLC and American Transmisson Center took care of what was needed. They took the time with my son and explained in great detail was needed to maintain his vehicle. Now my son's car is running great. We will be coming back soon for the tune-up. Thank you for your service and a wonderful staff. You guys are AWESOME!!!!!

I have nothing but praises for this shop. Randy has helped me out with every issue I've had and got the job done in a timely manner. Hes a no bull type of guy that'll tell it to you straight. And if there is something that his shop doesnt do he is more than happy to help you get to the right place. I take both my import car and chevy truck to him and have had zero issues with his shop's work. 10 out of 10 would recomend!

My car, a 2010 Chevy Cobalt LT2, started giving me transmission issues about two weeks ago, I took it through my dealerships service center that couldn t properly diagnose the issues wrong with my vehicle, they recommended that I take my vehicle to a Chevy dealership. I followed instruction and had a terrible experience to start. Then I got word of this shop. They offered free towing to their service center, and were able to effectively diagnose, order parts, and complete the work within a very responsible time frame. Randy in particular helped me through and through by giving daily updates on what was going on, and left no stone unturned. He is a super professional and an all around stand up guy who runs an amazing shop. The guys there were extremely polite. Working in customer service myself, it s a tremendous weight off your shoulder to know that the person you re buying services through has your back every step of the way. I m able to say that this shop was understanding of my situation with funds as all of this took place around the time of me moving into a newly purchased home. They Treat you like family and don t aim to break the bank! I m extremely satisfied with in every aspect of customer service and services to my vehicle that were provided. If you don t put your faith into this shop, you re crazy. You WONT be disappointed. Thanks again guys! I ll be following up with a very positive report to the better business bureau as well.

When I called, I was frazzled, confused, and upset about my transmission and fearful service would break my bank. This company was truly a God send! Randy, the GM, was beyond friendly and patient. He took the time to explain and detail the needs of my car. He helped me understand what type of transmission I had and how it needed to be serviced. It was my first experience with a mechanic who was honest, fair, and not trying to take advantage of a female customer with no knowledge. It was an awesome experience. I highly recommend this company for your car repair needs! His help saved my day, my car and my wallet! A-1 service all around!

First and foremost you will never find a more honest and straight up automotive garage owner than Randy. From the very first phone conversation, Randy s knowledge and superb customer integrity will win your trust. I couldn t be any happier with my over all experience at American Transmission. This is by fair the best conclusion of a bad situation I ve experienced in some time.Story Time I had a 2005 v6 Honda accord and the Transmisson was rapidly failing. It started having trouble shifting from Park to drive. Over time this issue got worse getting stuck in 2nd or 3rd then ultimately getting stuck in 1st. Originally I took the car to Amco on military Highway being they were close. Amco is a complete rip off! This guy gave me a quote for $2800(WITH OUT A WARRANTY!) without even seeing the inside of the transmission or really knowing what the actual issue was. Then said if any hard parts were required it would be north 3k. Uh how about no.. I started calling local Transmisson shops and receiving over the phone ball park quotes Out of 4 other shops American Transmission ultimately offered the lowest quote Now Randy from American Transmission was extremely different than all the other places I called. He would not give me a quote over the phone without seeing and getting a feel for the vehicle. He stated that throwing a random price tag out there is neither fair for the customer or the business being it could be the simplest fix or the more difficult. After further speaking with Randy I quickly became more and more comfortable hearing his knowledgable and genuine personality. He also offered to have my car towed there at an unmatchable rate and that if we decided not to continue business then I would only owe for the small tow cost. Ultimately I agreed to have my transmission rebuilt here and the diagnosis was that my torque converter failed releasing debris into the transmission. Once the car was in randy s care I received frequent updates and felt great with my decision. There were NO ridiculous surprises and everything worked out GREAT!I have had my Car back on the road for alittle over three weeks now and I cannot remember a time where it shifted better. American Transmission did a OUTSTANDING job with my vehicle and with Randy behind the counter I will be a repeat customer. You have to call American Transmission! Randy will answer the phone and I guarantee, you will love the guy! This place will get you back on the road quickly for a extremely fair price. Look at his other reviews there is consistency with this place unlike most other shops. I highly recommend American Transmisson.

Highly recommend these folks! My husband and I went to VA Beach for vacation last week and on the way down our car broke down. If it wasn't for these guys we would have been stranded hours away from home!

What a blessing. That's about all I can say. Randy and his guys replaced a rear main seal on my vehicle and did an amazing job. Not only did they get me in quickly, but i actually got my vehicle back same day. He shared some quality advice and even recommended against any unnecessary work suggested elsewhere. Truly a 5 star service, both their work, their value, and their customer care. Outstanding experience.

My boyfriend and I came in after we heard his truck rattling and the engine light came on. Randy was super helpful, understanding and walked us through the entire process. Our favorite part was how genuine he was and made us feel comfortable with the service he provided. Definitely coming back!!

I was referred to Randy at American Transmission by Big Al's on Battlefield(Great Guys!), they felt that something was going on with my transmission. I called Randy, rambling and frustrated about my 2006 Malibu going in reverse when put in drive and neutral, cutting off, not starting up and also getting a 420 code for my catalytic converter. Randy listen very patiently then gave me a brief diagnostic of what might be going on, I made arrangements to have my car towed to the shop. Once my car was checked out... I needed a starter, minor Transmission work and the 420 code missed fire was due to the wrong type of spark plugs. My Malibu is driving smooth again!! Randy was honest ,patient and very kind. He explained everything in detail so that I understood what was going on with my car. My car was ready in 1 1/2days with warranty and it was a fair price. Thanks Randy and American Transmission Team you guys are "Awesome"!

I can describe Randy in ONE word - AWESOME! My 16 year old Explorer was repaired and finished on a Saturday and he called me upon its completion. I told him I couldn't come by that Saturday to pick it up. Knowing they were closed on Sundays, I asked him if he would allow me to meet him at his shop on Sunday to pick it up and he said yes, just give me a time. Awesome Customer Service which is huge for me, as I've been in that field all my life. As a retired Navy Chief Yeoman, I can truly appreciate Randy. My Explorer runs better than before and I have Randy and American Transmissions on Independence Blvd to thank for that. Thanks Randy!

Randy and his staff are top notch, great trouble shooters and have very competitive pricing. Be it transmission or engine. He has had from me a few tricky problems and I have always been pleased with the shops services. Also, Randy's communications in getting back to me, explaining pricing and options etc. have been great!

My long time trusted BMW mechanic actually referred me to these guys when my ford truck needed a transmission rebuild... honestly.I come from an automotive background myself and was impressed with how these guys do business.. both mechanically and especially on the front end. I dealt with Randy and the communication/follow up, etc was on point.

Randy and the whole team were so awesome to work with. My transmission and AC decided to kick the bucket at the same time and within 2 days American Transmission took care of everything. They even hooked me up with a 3rd party parts dealer and recommend exactly which warranty option to get in case this problem ever happened again. I'll definitely be going there for all of my major automotive needs for now on.

Terrible experience. Rebuilt transmission that had problems from day one. After several months they finally agreed to look into it, found that tech had left spring out causing all of my problems, took them 23 days to finally fix it right and they could care less I had to pay for rental because of their mistake. Too much competition in town to let these guys work on your car. Worst part was totally indifferent attitude. I have heard good things about Randy at the other shop, but Steve at Lynnhaven location could care less and their marketing guy Wendell has the worst customer service skills of anyone I ve met

Paid over 1200$ to get my ac right.. Now it's blowing worst than it did before I took it in... I've been back twice already and I'm getting the same results.. Makes me feel jipped and wonder if everything was actually done that was paid to be done.. But I will continue to go there until my ac is right..I don't understand why I wouldn't be in the system... I have all my receipt and repair order in my car... I went to the shop on lynnhaven.. I've been trying to get to the shop on independence, but it's not open on Saturday's and that's my only day off... .. I may just have to call off so I can get this taken care of finally. I called and spoke with someone there, I think Randy... So he knows about it... Just haven't found the time to get it there... But I'm just gonna use leave...Services: A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

I could not be happier with Randy and American Transmission. These guys are the best in Hampton Roads. I have a British right hand drive Land Rover with parts that are VERY hard to find, and Randy and his team expertly replaced my transfer case and got me back on the road in no time. HIGHLY recommend using these professionals for any transmission work you need done.

If you need any work done on your car, please check out Randy and his team at this American Transmission location.My moms alternator broke on her way home from Virginia to Pennsylvania on Saturday. The owner and his mechanic were willing to stay late to assist her. Once she realized the tow truck would not arrive until much later, they then, volunteered to come in on Sunday morning, their day off, and complete the job first thing. They did not try to sell her anything she did not need, nor, try to take advantage of her because she was from out of town. Wonderful work and excellent customer service!!! Please give them your business!!!
