I have been taking my vehicle to Cofer Auto for many years. They are friendly, have fair prices, are honest and get you in and in good time! They don't try to get you to get work done that you don't really need. I trust them... I highly recommend them!

After having my 2014 ford fusion repaired the same part failed again. Took it back a little aggravated due to the amount of money I spent not expecting the same part to fail right at a month later. After speaking with the owner he advised that he would take care of any and everything needed to fix my issue. When I received the call that my car was ready for pick up and going to look at it everything looks perfect and he even inspected my car for me so I wouldn t have to worry about it. After being burned by another shop in the area that is no longer in business I m very touchy with people working on my car and it being honest work. I appreciate everything that cofer auto did for me. Will be returning and recommending any and all work moving forward.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle safety inspection

I was recommended to this place it took a week to get my truck back. I talked to the owner and had to go three different times just to find out the status of my vehicle. The secretary working there didn t know what she was doing. I asked her three different times what the total bill would . The worst place I have ever been to. I was ripped off the bill was way to high and my air conditioner still not working I will never go back there again I will take my business elsewhere back to what she quoted me the price for everything except the hose and when I went to pay the bill it was 500.00 dollars more. So she just lied to me. If you charged my ax why is it blowing hot air. She said I had a pin hole in the compressor. I don t think it would have leaked out that soon

Made an appt for 0900 waited 45 min and my car still was sitting g in the over crowded parking area!!!! What good is an appointment if it is not honored??? Went to Smithfield Lube where my car was taken In immediately and super nice people!!!! If I could give no stars that would be appropriate

I am a long time customer. I attempted to call twice to get my oil changed and tires rotated. Both times I was put on hold, then hung up on. I will be going somewhere else.

I've been very pleased with the professional service I've received from Cofer over the last several years. They are very honest in their assessment of any problem I may have, and they have earned my complete trust when working on my vehicles. It's easy to get an app't and the work gets completed in a very timely manner. Their costs are quite reasonable as well. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a quality repair shop.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

Cofer Auto has been absolutely amazing to me! Two times this past week I have had car issues. The first time was a check engine light problem and I called as soon as it popped on when I was headed home and they were able to fit me in right then. The customer service I received while I was there was incredible. I waited on it and was only there about 40 mins and they were able to get it fixed for me and I was in and out of the doors in under an hour. I had another problem later in the week and they were able to fit me in again to take another look at it. I was super impressed with their work! Everyone is so friendly and they do an incredible job and provide wonderful service. I will definitely be back if I ever need work done again. Thank you so much! You all are so amazing.

They are so efficient, friendly and competent! Got my State Inspection in under 45min. Remarkably fast compared to other places. Cofer's is always fair and comes through for me and my vehicles!

What a great shop! I was in a pinch and needed some tire valve stem work done ASAP. We travel full time in our RV and were en route to our next campground. We needed immediate repair. Cofer Auto stepped up and got me in right away then fixed the issue. I am so thankful for a wonderful, professional job and when I went to pay the bill I could not believe how inexpensive it was.Thanks so much Cofer Auto. You saved my day. I highly recommend their great work. Honest and Professional

Update 10/15/20: they are still doing great work. I have gone through them several times for a wide array of work and it has all been quality. The people are friendly and informative as well. I plan to continue to go through them until I move out of the area.Previous Review: I really like the way they do business. I've gone through Cofer's several times and like it every time but once, hence the 4 stars. Before that I would have giving them 5 stars. The issue I had was that I had called and asked if my truck would be done that day and they had said yes, then when I had gone to pick it up it wasn't done so I had to get a ride to the house and wait for the next day (they were installing something). In their defense they said it COULD take 2 days and I was okay with that and the guy who answered the phone might not have known what was going on fully. It wasn't a huge deal because I carpool to work anyways but it that wasn't the case and that was my only vehicle that would have cause some issues. Other than that I have been 100% happy with their work.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Wheel alignment

I had a lot of problems that came up with my kind of old, high mileage van. I had no appt but they got me in FAST! I trust the team of people there are Cofer's because they are always honest and hardworking. Dropped my truck off for an alignment appointment that was made a week in advance not only was my truck not ready at 330 like I asked I sat there for another hour just for my dual steering stabilizer to be taken off my truck but now the truck drives worst than it did before they touched it waisted my time and money

Great service from the Cofer team continues! I had an issue with my Oldsmobile's cooling system and the team repaired it quickly. Then when I couldn't get away from work they dropped by for me. Great service at a reasonable price. It is hard to find good service like Cofer's!On another occasion I had a clutch issue with my 2009 Shelby Mustang and obviously it was out of warranty. Basically I needed a new clutch as they went to order my new clutch James discovered there was a service writer from Ford that basically covered the clutch replacement parts and labor. They notified me that the clutch would be replaced at no cost to me saving me $2,000. These guys have a tremendous sense of integrity and give great value for their time. I am a customer for life!

One of THE BEST Auto Shops AROUND! I told them I wanted my front and rear breaks replaced and they called me to tell me that they cleaned and adjusted my rear drums, but they didn't need new shoes and didn't charge me for the maintenance on my rear drums!! Most shops would've either charged for the job and replaced them anyways or would've charged you and just told you that they replaced them! These guys are VERY HONEST and can be trusted! Great customer service and great mechanics!!! Don't hesitate to trust Cofer with your vehicles!!

We've been taking our cars to these gentlemen for just over ten years and have NEVER had a bad experience. They are knowledgeable and experienced. Mostly, they are HONEST! If they tell you what's wrong, they know what they are talking about. Their word is their bond. They may not be the cheapest, but they are the BESTYou don't have to go back again and again while some "so-called" mechanic tries over and over to diagnose your problem. You get good, fair, and reliable work here by friendly understanding competant people .

Being new to the area, I chose an auto shop near me to diagnose my car. The quote given for the repair needed was outrageous to say the least. Cofer Auto quoted $850 for a wheel bearing repair that only cost $325 at another shop. Their charges for a basic oil change is nearly double than you would pay anywhere else. If you like overpaying, this shop is for you!

I switched to Cofer in 2016 after my former regular shop kept having trouble keeping state inspectors on staff. Honest inspection stations are hard to find in Hampton Roads; We've got four autos, two trailers, and a handful of bikes, so it's pretty critical for us, as we're in and out of inspection stations a lot. I've had other local stations (NOT Cofer) actually cut parts off the car and then fail me for the missing parts.So far, Cofer has not only been unquestionably honest on the first five inspections or so, they've been prompt as well. I've also been able to reliably turn up at 8am and be out the door by 9am without an appointment, which is unheard of in many shops. I'll continue to stick with them for my half a dozen or more inspections a year, and will update my review if there's ever a problem they don't solve.Thanks, Cofer!

Cofer's fixed my brake line problem quickly and also another problem they found while truck was on the lift. Very prompt and reasonable. Couldn't be more satisfied with their service.

I am absolutely reluctant to even give Cofer Automotive one star. I brought my car into their shop approx two weeks ago due to my car was intermittently not starting. I also needed a routine oil change. This was my first experience with Cofer. I had a 1030 appointment and opted to leave my car with them for the day. When I called at 2pm to see if my car was ready, I was told my car was not even looked at as yet. I received a call closer to 4pm and was told my oil was changed and it was suggested to have my radiator and power steering fluids changed as well,which I agreed to. Cofer also tried to sell me two other packages ie: spark plugs and fuel injectors, which I told them, I had already done? Hummmm I thought to myself, why are they checking on everything except the reason I brought the car in for. When I inquired as to the real problem- my car not starting, they said, nothing is noted, so nothing is probably wrong. I asked about the battery, the starter and the altinator- she said everything was fine and was told I could pick up the car at 5 pm. The bill was just short of $400... $200 just for labor. I inquired why an oil and fluid changes took 2 hrs of labor, with really no answer. 3 days later, my car wouldn t start AGAIN, I called them, Cofer said to come in. Now they said it s the battery, sold me a new battery $145... I inquired again about the starter and the altinator and was told it was all fine .... 2 days later my car again would not start, I was now stuck at the Food Lion parking lot. I called Cofer and they said to have it towed in and they will try to figure out what going on. Well, I had had enough of their incompetence, I had gone through 2 days without a car and they had 2 days to figure out why my car didn t start. I brought my car to Brown s Automotive in Smithfield that day. Brown s diagnosed the problem in minutes... my altinator and belt were shot .. and needed to be replaced. They did the work in 3 hrs and had my car back to me... I have no problems starting my car... shame on Cofer for everything they were selling to me and wasting my time and money... buyer BEWARE about this business! Save yourself a small fortune and bring your car where mechanics know what they are doing!
