I needed the safety inspection done on our oldest car. There was no line and the technician replaced a couple of burned out light bulbs and the car then passed inspection. I previously left a 5 star review here. The most recent time I went to this shop I paid $800 on repairs that didn t fix the major issue I was having. I had to go to another shop and spend a lot more money to have the issue fixed. We set an appointment, they promptly began the service and finished in less than half the time estimated. I had a tire leak issue which they analyzed, and determined tire repair not needed. They did measure tread on all tires and made recommendations regarding future service. Not needed at this time. Fair and honest reasonable pricing.

Friendly is the best way to describe my experience at this local repair shop. They are eager to help and everyone who works there has a smile! They are honest and look to save you money for any work they do. Best inspection in town. Fast, honest and excellent! What else can I ask for? Also there is a Starbucks across the shop. But gotta be quick since they finished my inspection and emission within 15 minutes, barely had time to get my coffee

While a simple repair on many cars replacing the headlight on my classic foreign car was less straightforward. That said these guys took on the task and saved me from having to go to a specialty dealer which would have cost me probably triple the money. We have been taking our cars to the South Lakes Sunoco shop in Reston, VA, for maintenance and repairs for a number of years, and we consistently have been very happy with their work. Our 2008 Camry recently needed extensive exhaust system replacement, including catalytic converter replacement, as well as replacement of the valve cover gasket and various engine parts as a result of an oil leak into the cylinders. The South Lakes Sunoco shop team was totally up to the challenge, and did a fabulous job with all aspects of the required work. Our special thanks go to Edward, who went above and beyond the normal call of duty in working with us, coordinating everything, and getting us great pricing on the parts, and to Technician H. Talastas, who did masterful work with all of the labor involved with this large job. We could not be happier with the South Lakes Sunoco shop team! We have been happy with the shop team s work over the years, and their wonderful performance with this major job will keep us coming back to them for any future car work we need. I had only used Lexus in the past but caught them in an expensive lie and was not going back. Brenden at South Lakes Sunoco was recommended to me and he was great. He took care to hear my concerns, that my a/c light was blinking and not blowing cold, my battery light was on and I wanted the belts and hoses checked as well as anything else they saw that was needed.He told me the procedure, called for approval to move forward and my car was finished but the end of the day. Only having seen Lexus charges, I was absolutely delighted when I was presented with theirs. They saved me at minimum, hundreds of dollars. Their warranty is far better than Lexus.I definitely recommend them. My neighbor who drives a Mercedes said he will be using them going forward.Thank you South Lakes Sunoco! Edward, Adi and (I want to say Brenden, another Sir that gives prices when Edward is not there) are all Awesome people. Came in for an yearly Safety check and new Tires. Edward recommended The best tires I could find on Consumer Reports!Thank you. My car ride is so smooth and tires work great with all the ice we have been have. These guys likely overcharge.... not sure how expensive is this part of Maryland, still, after moving to Prescott, AZ (also an expensive place to live), I did suspension repairs for $1700 (and these guys quoted me $5000) and brakes for $350 (having been quoted $1000 by these guys). They also charge a lot for diagnostics what many other shops do for free if you let them repair your car. The repair they did on my car - everything was fine but also expensive.Service: General repairs & maintenance

First time going to this auto shop. Just moved back to Reston, always knew about this place but never went but yesterday I made a great choice. I need emissions and safety since I was 2 months late on & dead tags since March that I had no idea about.. I called when they opened and asked if emissions was available today and the guy who I spoke with was super friendly and nice. Took my car around 1 and all the auto service men were super nice, greeted with a smile, even the mechanic who worked on my car was throwing me jokes and laughing. Seriously I will not go anywhere else now. Felt really good to see there s still some friendly people in the world with everything going on these days. I've lived in Reston for over 10 years but never considered bringing my vehicle here for service. It wasn't until a neighbor recommended South Lakes Auto that I decided to give them a chance. I started bringing over my car for minor things like safety and emission inspections. I was very pleased with their professionalism and willingness to accommodate on such short notice when I had a punctured tire that needed to be repaired. Now I bring my car to them for everything. Out of all the auto repair places I've been to over the years, South Lakes Auto has far surpassed them all for honesty, competence, and agreeability. I have been coming to Sunoco for years and have had a few cars over the years they have helped me maintain and repair. They are always straight up and honest. They will explain anything that I have questions about and, as a single woman who isn t a car expert, I appreciate that. I do highly recommend them for their prompt service, too! Marvin has always been friendly and communicative, calling me with price quotes and updates. I had my inspection performed, and it was the fastest I ve had done anywhere. They did a good job, told me what needed to be done to pass, what needed to be be looked at eventually (so as to not be too expensive all at once), and the prices for the necessary repairs/replacements was very reasonable compared to other places. I had a minor accident near this Sunoco, which I had never been to before. I had dented my wheel but now my car was making horrible noises and I was nervous to drive home after work. I drove in hoping just to ask a quick question at almost 6pm. Eric was so kind he talked to me about what happened and what could be going on with my car. He even took a quick look at my tire. He gave me a number of options and was very helpful when it was almost after hours and he was not required to even discuss it with me.The next day I called them and set up an appointment to get my car evaluated that day. it was very affordable and Marvin was very helpful and explained everything that was going on with my car and what I needed done along with all of my options. Everyone there was very helpful in the service dept. I felt very comfortable with all of the information I was given, and felt confident with the service and work done. I will definitely go back there whenever I need to have work done. (side note: When I went in the night before another woman, who was picking up her car, was thanking Eric for all the great work they did and being so helpful and communicative)

Edward & Brendan are by far the kindest and most helpful crew! While driving home from OBX to NOVA, my low oil pressure light came on and I was stuck on the side of the road (oil drain plug fell out). I reached out to these guys immediately (they are my maintenance shop) and they worked diligently to locate a local service station (in the middle of nowhere VA) and coordinate a tow (@ 2pm on a Friday). Edward kept in touch with me along the way (even after hours) until I was safely home. I was/am so thankful to Edward & Brendan and highly recommend South Lakes Sunoco. This place is great. I ve used a lot of mechanics over many years for many cars, but Hermil is by far the BEST I ve encountered. He s extremely knowledgeable and can handle just about any model and any repair. He s fast, thorough, and explains things in detail and he s just a good dude in general. Be wary of this shop!!Issue #1An appointment was made via the website. A confirmation email for the appointment was not received so I called. The person I spoke with said they often have glitches with the schedule system and there was no record of my appointment request. He scheduled my appointment over the phone. When I arrived, just a few hours later, there again was no record of my scheduled appointment.Issue #2My vehicle was incorrectly diagnosed and a $1223 repair estimate was given. I was told this repair was needed to pass state inspection. The estimate states rack and pinion is leaking power steering fluid . Knowing my vehicle has electric steering and no power steering fluid I took it to another shop for a 2nd opinion. Several mechanics confirmed my vehicle has electric power steering and there is no issue with the rack & pinion.Issue #3One of the tire sensors appears to have been damaged during tire rotation.Issue #4After sharing I would be waiting for the vehicle at the nearby Starbucks, I did not receive the promised call to let me know when the vehicle inspection was completed. After waiting 1.5 hours, I walked over to find my vehicle sitting in the parking lot.Services: Tire rotations, Vehicle Inspection, Oil change

A few months ago I came here for a routine/yearly inspection and was quite surprised at how friendly the staff was. They got my car in and out quickly even though they had plenty of other cars they were working on.After having a poor experience at the dealership where I bought my car, I decided to try South Lakes Sunoco for my oil change and tire rotation as well. Not only were they very affordable, they were prompt, to the point and informative. They checked additional items like filters etc. But didn't try to oversell or push anything that I didn't need. They told me to have the air filters checked at the next oil change and just that honesty made me feel much more comfortable working with them as opposed to the dealership that tried to push $300 plus in additional items on the cars very first oil change.Highly recommend going here for any services you may need for your car!
