Another shop drained my transmission fluid and overfilled my oil. C&R fit me in and quickly remedied the situation and literally saved my households jobs (We are a one car family). called got a price to swap differential and install 2 new axles. Made appointment and took to them this morning thought all was gonna be good. Got call this afternoon to tell me it's too big a job (basically) and don't have time or room to do it. This is not how you service your customer. Day wasted and still don't have my car fixed.What a awful business, will never come back or refer anybody to go here.

Richie promised he would have my GMC Acadia s Torque in the transmission repaired in two weeks and he did! They were 3 x s cheaper then Colonial and Ammco!Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

First of all, I want to say that I had a routine clutch kit replacement on a 2011 Subaru Forester.C&R Transmission was a great choice from the get-go. First of all, their estimate was lower than most of the other shops I called with the exception of AAMCO (where the price was within $20). Richie was extremely helpful and attentive, giving me a quick estimate, being honest with me about the fact that he needed to do a little research into my car to see if I had a dual mass flywheel or not, and giving me plenty of advice and options to save me money. I opted to have him turn my flywheel, upon his recommendation, which is something that most shops refuse to do. He then told me the job would take two days and allowed me to schedule an appointment.Everyone I talked to on the phone was extremely professional. I dropped the car off on a Thursday, expecting to have it back Friday night. Thursday evening I called to see if they had a chance to look at it, where I was told they didn't get a chance to work on it that day. I was worried I wouldn't have a car for the weekend but the following day Richie called and told me that he was going to do everything in his power to get the car done on Friday so I could have my car back on the weekend. He then called me near the end of business and said everything was done.Very happy with their quality and professionalism and would highly recommend this shop for all your transmission needs!Service: Transmission

I was referred to C&R by my normal mechanic and while Chris and her team couldn't solve my transmission issue, they identified the issue and referred me to another location (dealership.) They did all of that and didn't charge me anything, which I appreciated. Very trust worthy folks.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

I wish I could give more stars. I've been going to C & R for about a year. They have always given me the best possible service with a smaller bill than the typical garage. What impresses me most though is their integrity and character. You can't buy that. I was having my car inspected and an issue with the wiper blades being replaced caused a small crack in the brand new windshield. When I brought it to their attention, they didn't even blink and got me in right away to fix it on their dime. I suspect most other garages in town wouldn't have provided for such an outcome. Richie, Kim, and Sam put me at ease immediately when I showed up flustered that my brand new windshield had been cracked. Everyone is wonderful to deal with, but C & R takes it up a notch further and provides atypical character and integrity that you just don't find today. Went in for inspection knowing some work needed to be done to pass. Very friendly and fast service. Warned about replacement needed soon but not pressured to do so. Had them do the work replacing front brake pads work was done quickly. Very happy with service and will use C&R Auto Service again.

I had what I thought was a transmission problem. As a single Mom, I checked with my guy friends for their recommendations on where I should take it. All said definitely take to a transmission specialist. One said, "The one on East Market". So I went to C & R, nervous that I might be pegged as someone they could get one over on, should they be inclined. Couldn't have been farther from that! They were super friendly, immediately determined it was NOT a transmission problem, which would have cost $4500-5000. Instead it was the rear drive shaft that needed to be replaced. Cost for new part, $1200. Kim and especially Richie bent over backwards to find a used part that was in good condition. Got one for $300. They saved me sooo much money and gave great service all the way. Many will hear me sing their praises!

Friend passing through, en route from Brooklyn to South Carolina to care for his mother who'd just had a stroke. His transmission ('98 Honda Accord) slipping like mad, huge fluid leak. C&R responded with grace and mercy. Fit him into their schedule. 100% fixed his problem. Reasonable price. Great attitude from front and back office. Good shop. Highly recommend.

A place you can trust and count on.I don t usually take the time to write reviews, but because of the top-notch service I receive from C&R, I feel I must. I have used C&R to service all my vehicles for over 8 years. I love that it s family owned and a place that I can trust. From the moment you call to make an appointment or when you drop off your vehicle Kim is professional, courteous and friendly and always scrambling to find parts that the mechanics need. The service from Richie and the crew is just outstanding, be it an oil change, tune-up, state inspection, new tires/brakes/muffler, etc. On a couple of occasions I ve dropped off one of my vehicles thinking something major was wrong only to be told a belt needed to be tightened or it was some other minor problem. The work is always dependable, at affordable prices and always done when promised (if not before).

C&R is the best. After trying so many other shops in Charlottesville, I'm sticking with them. Whenever I talk to them they're very accommodating. They'll always go through explanations of issues and repairs when I ask. If they tell me a price, it's always exactly that price - no extra fees for disposal, cleaning, or any other bs. They're straight up with you and do a great job.

I took my car to them with a transmission problem. Left it with them at 7:30 am. Heard nothing till 4pm. Then I was told that I need a whole transmission replacement. They had no details as to what is so wrong with my transmission but it needs a replacement. They quote me 3500 for a replacement. Long wait,shady business practice. Only thing nice about it was the lady at the desk. The rest of them....well they should just be working on lawnmowers for all I care. User beware!!!!!!

It is so rare to find an auto shop that is more concerned about customer service and "doing the right thing" than they are about making a buck. C&R patiently answered all of my questions and did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. They were straightforward and honest. I will definitely go back! Thank you C&R!

The shop where I first brought my car couldn't do the work and referred me to C&R. They did first rate service and the cost came in below a number of other estimates I got in the area. I'll gladly go again the next time I need something done.

Always great! Fast and straight to the point. They tell you what is wrong and how much $ and they fix it within a day usually. No beating around the bush like other auto shops.

Great mechanic! Honest and efficient. Doesn t overcharge you or do work you don t need done! I totally recommend especially for women who get taken advantage of by many of the local mechanics and shops. I will be recommending to others.

Got a state inspection here - in at my appointment time and out 30 minutes later with my new sticker. Friendly people and straight to the point. I'll be back if I encounter any car trouble and for future routine inspections.

So before the even looked at it they left a message at 7:49 a.m. that I would just have to take it to a dealer. So then I called and tried to request the paperwork from the person who works there, who replaced our PCM, and the front desk person was rude and wouldn't even let me finish a sentence. I need that for the next person who is going to try to fix my van or at least tell me if the part is under warranty, if not then basically it isn't even worth the money needed to fix it....... But he was going to at least check for me which is more than the person who replaced it did!!!!!!The last thing I need with dealing with everything on my plate is an attitude from someone. You'd think if you fix someone's vehicle and charge them $700 for the repair plus $400 in additional repairs, that if it's not running good less than a year since that person fixed it, that they'd at least try to rectify the issue and at least take a look or provide the paperwork so someone else can take a look and see what they can do for us. But no. They didn't. And they won't. Why can't I just get the paperwork from my repairs?? Mind you, we're a fixed income family, with three very special needs children.

My car's transmission was dying. They had a look at it and offered $2600 to replace it; more than I could afford unfortunately. They needed me to move my car from their parking lot a couple days after (or be charged $30/night), but on the upside they didn't charge me for looking at my car.

I had them put wheelbearing and bushing in my ford and less than a year later I had to go get new ones put in again because they didn't press them in properly. Would never recommend them to anyone!!!
