I have been coming to Mike Palmer for years! Three cars now, and soon to be a fourth. He is so honest and helpful. It's hard to find someone like Mike in the car repair field, so I am a lifer! 15/10 would recommend every time.

Totally saved us. We couldn't get our hood to pop. Tim Dahle Nissan told us we needed a new cable latch and quoted us $1700! Mike fixed it in like 30 minutes and for $50 because it wasn't broken just disconnected. Best service ever!

Mike took good care of me and my car. I went in with a couple of problems with my 2013 Chevy Impala s traction control system and A/C. The same day I brought it in, Mike had finished diagnosing and gave honest advice and insight into repair options/cost. I agreed to what made sense and my car was fixed and ready for pickup the next morning. Bonus points: While it was an older, high mileage car, Mike provided me with a loaner car to use locally while my car was getting fixed. Mike Palmer has been my mechanic for 20 years and they have always been AMAZING!! They always contact me if something unexpected comes up, they never pressure me to do anything unnecessary, I completely trust their recommendations and they ve always been completely honest about every repair and why it s recommended. Their work is very reasonable in price too which helps in this economy. I have always recommended them and I will continue to! I really appreciate how MP Auto helps me understand what is at stake with all the work they do on my vehicle. They are thorough in locating problems and honest about how large they are. So helpful. And, the solutions they have provided me in the past have, in at least one case been 1/10th as expensive compared a different solution quoted at another mechanic.

The guy at the desk we interacted with needs an attitude change or a lesson in customer service. Very unpleasant experience. We got an oil change and took the rest of our business elsewhere. We did not have a good feeling being there, and the professionalism was lacking entirely. We got there early in the morning and the bathroom was already dirty enough that my girlfriend walked down the street to a gas station instead. 3 stars because despite the customer service he was very knowledgeable, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on their mechanic abilities.Service: Oil change

Had major brake issues with my vehicle, and was terrified thinking about the cost. Took it into Mike & his team and per usual, my repairs were MUCH cheaper than I had anticipated, not to mention they had it fixed incredibly fast! They are extremely trustworthy, cost efficient, professional & accommodating. I have never, nor will ever take my vehicle anywhere else! Mike Palmer Automotive has worked on my Nissan a few times for a variety of issues. Each time they have been honest, upfront, and provided quick service. It is never a "fun" experience getting your vehicle worked on and is almost always very expensive but they are the first call I make when my vehicle is having issues. Highly recommended.Update 3/18/24: Mike Palmer continues to provide great quality at an honest price. I have been using Mike Palmer for years on several of my vehicles. Best mechanic in UT bar none! Only one I ve ever had on a repair that was honest about not needing to do work. And they helped me with a possible warranty at a dealer some time ago.Most recently they fixed my power steering. Honest, fast and dependable service. I ve been going to Mike Palmer Automotive for 10 years for multiple vehicles for jobs large and small and they are fantastic. They are quick, no nonsense, priced well, and friendly. I was told I was missing a boot on my axle from a jiffy lube and after being told by a friend how great Mike Palmer s Automotive is I gave them a call. Thinking at the very least I would need a new CV Boot if not more. But I was wrong and Mike told me I didn t need it. The whole experience was easy and straightforward. They really do a good job and you don t feel jerked around. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone like me who doesn t know the ins and outs of your vehicle, but is still trying to stay on top of maintenance and repairs. It s nice to have found an honest and competent auto shop and Mike s a great guy!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Took my car in before a road trip to have EVERYTHING checked, and yet they didn t check transmission fluid. He told me nothing was wrong and they did practically nothing so he didn t charge me, but clearly he didn t look because there was stuff that needed to be done. I didn t bring my car in to be gaslit, I would rather have paid to have the job done. Untrustworthy shop, 2 stars only because I didn t pay him to do the nothing he did.

We stopped here while on a cross-country road trip when we hit a rock in our Honda Fit on a back-country road and heard steady loud rattling coming from under the passenger side compartment. Mike was professional, honest, and efficient. We couldn t recommend a mechanic any more highly. He fixed us up in no time, gave us an excellent price, and had us back on the road in no time. So grateful for the pros at Mike Palmer Automotive. You rock (so to speak)!!

Mike at Mike Palmer Automotive is awesome. I came in for a pre buy inspection and Mike did a great job inspecting the vehicle. He was very nice and informative about what he found. Not only was Mike great but the receptionist was too. She was very friendly and nice to talk to while I was waiting in the lobby. She was able to answer all the questions I had about my vehicle. I would recommend Mike Palmer Automotive to anyone in need of a good mechanic.

Honest, quick, and helpful!!I found Mike Palmers online in an "emergency" situation needing to understand what was wrong with my car at a deadline. They were honest about their limited last-minute availability, but genuinely wanted to help and eventually were able to squeeze me in for a diagnosis. Each person I spoke with on the phone and in person was very nice, and also went in length with details about the issue, and the pros and cons of my options. I've found it rare that mechanics take that extra minute of time to help you understand, so I greatly appreciated that. Yesterday was my third or fourth time bringing a car to Mike Palmer Auto. Each time I have been impressed not only with the job done, but with the straightforward and, I believe, honest diagnosis and advice. It can be hard to find a shop to work on your cars that you can have trust in. For me, Mike Palmer Automotive has become that shop. I brought my car in yesterday fearing the worst - a transmission job? Something with the suspension? Hundreds of dollars, if not more. It turned out to be something much simpler, quicker to fix, and much less expensive. I was so relieved. And I will be back again when I need to.Service: Auto maintenance

I was coming through Salt Lake City on a trip and my front brakes started grinding. I brought the car to Mike and he discovered that one of my brake pads had separated from its backing and the calipers were now scraping the rotor metal on metal. He managed to replace both sets of front rotors and pads in less than one afternoon. He really got me out of a jam and I was able to continue my journey the next day. Thank you again.

A couple weeks ago I had an out of town employee who s husband was life flighted to the UofU medical center with severe injuries. My employee drove her car several hours to attend. There was a problem with the car needing quick attention so my employee could take her spouse back home. I called Mike who worked this car in between other appointments and took a look. The issue was dealt with quickly and accurately, and my employee was able to drive back home without concern. Mike and his crew bent over backwards to help when they were already busy. I can t say enough about their efforts, how I was dealt with during this tragic event, and my overall gratitude to Mike and his team. Thank you so very much! We need more folks like you in every community :)

Thank you Vanessa and Mike! I took in my 2015 Subaru for an undiagnosed issue after having a terrible experience with the dealership. They were responsive to my concerns regarding my car and took a thorough look. They were able to help me with installation of a new battery after mine was found to be corroded. Vanessa has certifications that aid in her ability to answer questions at the front desk. After having such a great experience the first time in, I took a company vehicle in to find out why the check engine light kept coming on. They were able to guide me through the most important problems that needed to be fixed right away down to more minor maintenance items that could be done but weren't necessary. I appreciate their honesty and fair rates. They are open about the process and will tell you if the repair is worth spending money on or if you can hold out for some time. I have been to other shops where they will just charge you for whatever they want, but Mike Palmer Automotive will make sure it is a worthy fix. So nice to have found a repair shop that is all about customer service not how much $$ is in your wallet. I've been going to Mike Palmer for the last 1.5 years and have had awesome experiences. They're always very clear on the safety concerns and what should be the priority work I need to get done on my car and what I can wait on. Mike and Vanessa have shared extra tips on how I can take better care of my car and help me leave with a really good understanding of the repairs and things I should keep a close eye on for the future.The last time I brought my car in they took my timeline into account - I needed to leave town that evening - and had the work done in just a few hours. I know they prioritized my car and valued my return service. Professional and personal feel to this place and these people. It's hard to find a mechanic I can fully trust, especially when car work can get so expensive. I really trust the word and quality of these folks! The ball joint of my CV axle on the front right tire of my car completely gave out it in the parking lot of Trader Joe's in downtown Salt Lake on Saturday. We waited for tow truck and selected our automotive destination for repairs. I honestly went with the shop closest to our home so we could walk. They did an amazing job repairing my car. It drive so much better than it ever has before. I think it even drives better than when I originally bought the car from the Ford dealership. Vanessa was very professional and honest about the pricing and repair costs. The car still needs some more work done but she got us back on the road and gave us an estimate of the other repairs that need to be addressed in the near future and the ones that could wait. I mean, who does that?! As a female, automotive shop scare the hell out of me. I've been taken advantage of before, many a time. I will forever recommend Mike Palmer automotive. You have a newfound best customer! I will bring all of my cars here in the future and recommend you to anyone looking for car repairs. Sorry about the tow truck and where they left my car. There weren't too many options I guess, so he just plopped it down in the middle of your shop. You have no idea how much I appreciate you getting my car fixed and back to me yesterday. I'm an independent contractor and representative for the natural products industry. My livelihood and income depends on my car being reliable and always on the road. Thank you so very much for getting me back to work so quickly. The only picture I have was from that night in the parking lot of Trader Joe's. Can t speak more highly of a fellow owner of an automotive repair shop. Mike and his staff are cool, calm, efficient, and have fair labor pricing. Our 50 year old Chevy shop snowplow truck exhaust is perfect thanks to them.

Brakes were squealing on stop and was worried about pads getting thin or something worse. Stopped by with no appointment and they were able to look at my vehicle right away. Within 10 minutes they explained that my pads and rotors looked good and the squealing wasn t a concern(possibly a stuck dirt particle that isn t a concern). They said no repairs were needed and were extremely honest saying anything they would do wouldn t be worth the cost or labor. I ve never met such a genuine mechanic. Finding a trustworthy location in car repair is quite difficult nowadays but this business earned mine and will be my go to repair shop from now on! THANK YOU MIKE PALMER AUTOMOTIVE!
