The cheeseburger was great! The place has lots of interesting decorations. The fried pies will be your favorite. An interesting combination grill, gas station, convenience store, with a taco place on the other end.

Do not miss this location. I have been here before. The food is good, the service is Texan, and the interior will definitely keep up with the best. I live in Oklahoma, but definitely feel at home here in Santo.Undercover trucker, keep it Undercover!!!

Great burger as always. They changed their fries from the fresh cut to something else. NOT a fan of these new fries. They are horrible. PLEASE change back to the old fries. That is seriously one of the only reasons I would stop here.

Always a nice clean place to stop before getting on I-20 or as you get off I-20 onto 281. Good food or snacks, fuel, gifts and etc. Nice clean restrooms. Safe place if your traveling alone, or with family.

Great place to stop, top off on gas, get a drink and some snacks while on the road. People are always friendly and plenty of parking. Plus there a restaurant as well if you need a bit more time to relax from driving.

Great place to stop on the way and get a quick bite for bkfst or lunch. For what it is, the food is much better than other places of similar type. The breakfast burrito is huge for $4.They had great buttermilk pie, but replaced it with some kind of chocolate stuff. The restrooms are always clean, and there's plenty of "stuff" to look through and pick up.

The people who run the grill and convienent store are fantastic. If I could have a way to give different ratings , I would give the sweet service 5 stars. My son and I both ordered a cheeseburger which is ala cart from any sides. A regular burger with fries or hand-dipped onion rings was about $11.00. I thought it a bit high for a grill inside a gas station, but thought it might be really good since we were in cattle country. Well, I will start with the burger which had one of the hardest buns I've ever had on a burger. It seemed left in a warmer too long so I could tap on the top and hear a loud "thud" . The cheese was cheap American cheese and cold, the lettuce was sparce and wilted. Pickles were nice and crisp but only 2. I ordered $.50 worth extra for each jalapeos and grilled onions. The 3 slices of a jalepeno were slightly soft and the 3 strings of a slice of onion was what Maverick Grill defines as extra toppings. A whole jalapeo and a slice of actual a grilled onion would have been much better. Now for the meat. I'm sure it is difficult to navigate spice in a "ready for all" patty, but something would be better than what tasted like nothing. Some steak seasoning or paprika would have taken the ground meat flavor somwhere more pleasant. Then, I was given a free cup of beans which were an attempt at brown beans. My only comment on the beans is the broth approach when a little slurry added to it would allow the broth to cling a bit to the bean. The taste was great, but the naked hard bean was a texture issue for me. The best part of lunch today at Maverick Grill was the onion rings. Yes, hand-dipped, which was obvious, salt and pepper added to the batter, and freshly fried without a greasy result. The batter has more flour in it, it seemed to me, due to texture and crumbling when you take a bite, but a great end result. I saved my last onion ring for last bite since I struggled with my burger. The restrooms were clean and no repair needed that I could see. I'd stop again, just not for a meal. There were other options such as a club, a pulled pork BBQ sandwich and something called a cowboy paninni. A solid 3 stars in my book.

I have been through there many times and made a mental note that the next time I had my wife with me, we were going to stop the shop and then check it out the grill. I have read the menu a few times, and it is an excellent one with unique and tantalizing fare. So many choices, good old country comfort food. We tried the chicken fried steak sandwich and patty melt with large fries. My only complaint was that the fries were not hot and fresh. I love my fries, and they should have never been served just lukewarm. I took them over to the microwave and heated them. The chicken fried steak was huge and on Texas toast. After our meal we went and shopped for some goodies and dessert in the general store. Place is way cool, has the old school charm vibe, and is stocked with truly genuine Texas goods. I loved the Blueberry cheesecake fried pie. I can't wait to visit again.

Always a great meal. My wife and I occasionally head down south after church on Sunday to get a burger and we've always been pleased. Burgers are extraordinarily good...and HUGE. Beautiful drive down from Mineral Wells and great food once we get to Maverick.

We have stopped here many times on our trips from FW to NM. Always clean, staff is friendly and the food/drink/merchandise selection is great. Restrooms are nice and clean. Plenty of gas pumps and easy in/out off I-20. A great option for anyone needing gas, snack or just a place to relax for a mins on a trip.

This is the second time I have gotten burned onion rings. Hamburger was good will not get onion rings again. The first time I ordered them was very good but they have gone down hill.

Stop in and get some Texas hospitality. The grill fixes up some great catfish and the burgers likewise are great. The portions are fair for the price. That's just the grill. Theres a feeling of comfort and well being. Check out the history on the walls and tooled rodeo saddles. There is plenty of parking ( crushed limestone) but next door is concrete. Good place to take a 10 hr. break.
