Love coming to Frio River and this time decided to stay at River Rim Resort! Stayed at Cottage #2 and was very impressed of how clean and comfortable this cabin was. Staff is super friendly and helpful!!! It has private river access and the resort even has a pool!!! We will definitely return and recommend to family & friends!!!

We hold our family reunion here every year. We have tried to find other locations that fit our needs and I have not found a better place to hold our group. Pricing, location, river access, quality of accommodation and staff kindness cannot be beat. Owners are locals and appreciate the gem they have and work tirelessly to keep it beautiful. Highly recommend River Rim Resort.

Thoroughly enjoyed having access to the property. We stayed during covid 19, no issues whatsoever. Everyone was professional and Texas friendly. Price was fair considering all the amenities. Staying again soon!

We stayed the weekend in the Arbor cabin. It was a very cute, very clean, cozy cabin. The grounds are beautiful. Staff was so nice. We rode out so they were nice enough to furnish towels, and bedding, which they state on the website they don't. If you let then know ahead of time you're taking a motorcycle they will provide it all. For a couples get away, it is definitely my favorite thus far.

The location is perfect, the price is a little high. The hot water did not last and the flooring was a little dirty, but I appreciate management contacting me about this issue. It was a quite area and the river was beautiful. We were surprised that you have to bring your own linens and clean up the cabin yourself, but this is apparently very common for the area.

The place was safe, clean, and inside of nature. We enjoyed it overall. However, during our stay, the refrigerator did not work, thus the food was being wasted. Also, the bed frame was not good and the window blind was broken. Hope, the authority will check on these things.

First time in Rio a and it exceeded all my expectations, I am beyond grateful for this experience. My friend actually set all of this up and I had so many reservations since I am a beach girl not a river girl, also I was afraid of the state of the accommodations. The cabin was spotless and very equipped. The owner Nancy is just so welcoming, helpful and accommodating; overall it was a great experience. I can't wait to go back and create long lasting memories with my children.

This was our second stay at river rim resort, and our first stay in rivers edge cabin #5. We don't need a lot of room since it's just my husband, our dog, and me. This place provides your basic needs but could use some updating compared to the newer cabins. The office staff has always been friendly and helpful. My only big complaint is there needs to be a river rim resort sign off the frio. We went kayaking up stream and saw no signs and went way way past.

I love the location and setup of the property. The view is beautiful and I really enjoy the pool. The cabins are very clean. However, the price goes up ever year. I no longer find the price fitting. Lots of repairs are needed to justify the price. The blinds are messed up and don't provide full privacy. This year there were two broken chairs at the table and the door knob was broken. I've stayed in two different cabins and the beds were TERRIBLY rickety in both. They advertise a stocked kitchen... I recommend taking your own cooking utensils, unless you don't mind cutting up a water melon with a butter knife. Staying right on the river a couple years in a row was nice but I'll be staying somewhere else next year.

Stayed in Casa Agave. Nice set up. Very spacious. Pool is smaller than what it seems in photos. Within about 10 minutes of Garner State Park. Really only one gripe, but it's big. There is access to the Frio River from the property, but access to the riverbank is restricted to about 20 - 30 yards up and down the river, so you can't really walk along the bank too much before you get to a fence and signage announcing private property. And the section of the river you can access is extremely shallow, anywhere from zero inches to about 2.5 feet max, and that's mostly by the riverbank. Thus, you aren't really doing much in the river other than getting your shoes wet. It's a nice jumping off point to go to Garner, but don't count on having your own river playground accessible from the resort.

We enjoyed the stay and clean cabin. Parking is limited some. Lots of trees! Whole location is on a bluff, so we felt safe. River access is a steep slope, but you can rent golf cart or bring one. 4-5 ft. pool setting is nice, too. Main issue, I'm a real big guy and it was 105 outside, so a/c was challenged too cool off cabin at 8 pm till 11 pm when it was still 97 degrees out. Probably no problem on normal days, and cooled off good in the a.m. hours.

The River Inn Resort was NOT what I expected.I reserved The Arbor cabin and what a disappointment. The pictures DO NOT depict what the views are. It is misleading, the back of the cabin overviews some neighbor s house cistern and there is no front view. The door leaves a gap open allowing any kind of small bugs or mouse to get in. The floor needed a mopping. If you step barefoot the floor is dirty, not good for little kids especially if they are crawling. We were lacking in several kitchen items - potholders, spatula, and other necessities. The mattress was uncomfortable.Considering the $125/night on off season or above on high season it is really not worthy it.Usually I do not give bad reviews, but I thought this one was a need because the ads and website pics were misleading.

Loved river rim resort, the cottage we booked was cozy. It's was straight forward no hassle free experience. Has all the basic amenities. The access to Frio river is directly from the property. Just make sure to stock your food for the trip. It's out in the wild. A local store is available about 7-10 miles from the location.

Brand new cabins are wonderful. All you need to bring is linen. Only a few things to adjust to make them perfect. The people in the office were very helpful. Met the owner and she was also accommodating. We will make this a regular stop whenever we want to float the Frio. Highly recommend these cabins.

We purchased a Living Social voucher, headed out there this past weekend, and had an absolute blast!! The water of the Frio River is crystal clear and we were only 5 minutes away from Garner State Park. The only negative would be that the mattresses could certainly stand to be upgraded; understandably, no bed is ever as comfy as yours at home. There is not much out there as far as services go so thank goodness we remembered most everything we'd need or were able to improvise. Both a blessing and a curse that Verizon wireless does not work out there. It's been a long, long time since our family has spent an entire weekend not connected - was a bit refreshing!

Great location on the Frio River. Been going for 5 years now. Cabins are ok, we've stayed at two different ones. Build quality of cabins is ok at best. Can get ice on site and does have WiFi but spotty. Friends had RV and had to call there maintenance out 3 times to check electric hookup, but they did come quickly and did fix problem. Price is kinda high for having to bring your own sheets and clean before leaving. Might try somewhere different next year but we still had a good time.

Great place. Stayed in one of the cabins right by the river. Has a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave), comfortable beds, decent shower. You will need your own bed sheets, but not a big deal as long as you know beforehand.

Year 5 here. Have stayed in multiple cabins, they're all great and well apportioned. Great river access, awesome for kids and adults of all ages. I think there are around 40 of us this year and not a complaint to be had.

Our stay for the week was in the Tower Glen house. Very clean, well maintained house with close access to the river. Back porch overlooks the road down to the river. Staff was very helpful. Ice purchase, tube rental and golf cart rental on-site. Two day minimum rental on golf carts. I would recommend the carts to access the river via the steep hill. Very nice river frontage with shade trees and access for swimming, tubing, etc. 4 stars due to a couple of reasons. Pool water was filthy. The river water was much cleaner. The grounds and landscaping were fairly overgrown, not mowed and evidence of alot of soil and gravel erosion. Wi-Fi was horrible, pretty much useless. Otherwise, one of the nicer, upscale cabin rentals you will find on the Frio.

River Rim Resort is Great place 2 stay but it's not handicap accessible!! Had a hard time getting my son in 2 the pool because there is no ramps on both sides!! And the house was on a hill with no ramps 2 get my son in the home...i hope when we come back next summer there will be some changes!!

The cabins (maybe the guest houses are better?) are glorified campsites. You have to bring your own bed, bath and kitchen linens, paper towels, and TP. You have to sweep, take out trash and wash dishes (nothing provided to do this) at checkout or they charge you $150. The 19" TV is from the 90s and the Wi-Fi is a joke. Getting down to the river is a dangerous hike via a steep, slippery caliche "ramp" and once you get down there there's isn't really anywhere to set up chairs.

We have gone to River Rim the last two summers. The cabins are clean and the staff is friendly. The river is within walking distance from the cabins we stay in. Garner is a short drive.

Have stayed here many times over the past 5 years in various cabins, but this year we had a toddler with us and it was by far the worst visit. No hot water, short on kitchen supplies, and a small shower stall (barely 2ft wide) and low water pressure. When my husband made the owner aware of the issues, she shrugged and said there were probably rocks in the pipes. Very overpriced for what all you are expected to bring.Update 2018: against my better judgement we went back because my husband s family chose to have the family reunion there again. We didn t make it one night. The letter I wrote is posted below. The owner did provide a full refund, but what a headache to pack and drive 12 hours in one day. Advice: NEVER choose a cabin that has a window unit (this was the Loft). The larger ones have central AC. Nancy,My family and I have been visiting your location for the past 6 years together for the Ham family reunion. Each year it seems the accommodations get worse. This year we were not even able to stay the night. My husband (Charles Ham s nephew) was quite irritated and packed us all up at midnight to make the 6 hour drive home back to Houston and civilization.Upon arrival around 7:30 we were greeted with a stuffy and sweltering room, poorly equipped with one barely functioning window unit. We decided to turn the unit to the coldest setting, unpack, and hope it would cool off. After unpacking I had to go and sit in the car with the AC on since I have an autoimmune disease and am unable regulate my body temperature easily. My husband suggested we drive to town and give the room time to cool off. When we returned after dark we found a large cockroach on the wall, which my 3 year old pointed to asking what s that mommy? . Pretty disgusting.Unfortunately, the room was the same hot and uncomfortable temperature. We continued to set up camp for the weekend and I went to the bedroom to plug in my makeup lights and get ready for bed. It s a small low-voltage light made for travel, but for some reason it popped the breaker. So now we have no lights in the bedroom. Fun. We put it on the mental list to call about it the morning.Last, I went to wash my face and noticed very low water pressure and toothpaste in the sink. Last time we were told the low water pressure was due to ricks in the pipe...same issue again? I m guessing the toothpaste was from a previous guest, since none of us had even used the restroom yet. Yikes. That was it for Andy. My husband had enough and decided we re going home. $180 per night with poor AC, unsanitary roach-infested rooms, and a lights we can t turn back on is not a great value when we are bringing so many supplies ourselves. This vacation has caused nothing but stress due to the problems with accommodations. Andy taped our keys to the door and we would like to be issued a refund for the nights we didn t stay. Also, since we were driving all night if you d kindly wait until after noon to call (if you choose to do so) we d appreciate that.Thank you
