I decided to give these people a chance and they made me regret it. At the consultation they seemed a little shady over the money but I disregarded it. I should have left right there but I didn t. So later when they wanted more money on the phone saying that I also needed to change out all these other parts, I didn t believe them. It just felt like they were trying to squeeze me for more money. Trust is everything in the car business. This was my fault and theirs. Even though what I wanted done to my car, wasn t good for my car, they did it anyway. This tells me that they care more about the money than what is best for their costumers. You can t build clientele with this business model. Had they refused the service that I wanted, for my own sake, then I would have respect their business. So in the end, they didn t fix my car, they made my car worse, and they kept my money. The good news is that their business won t ever have another miscommunication by me or my family members ever again.

Came in to get my window motor replaced and they got it done quickly. The price was great and the service was exceptional. I highly recommend this shop to everyone in San Antonio!

Very dissatisfied with this business. I bought some headlights in to get replaced wanting an estimate on how much they would charge me. They assured me that they would call me back with an estimate promptly & I was free to leave. After some time, they called me back with an amount out of my pay grade so I assured them I would not be continuing with their services to which they replied, "Well we already started, so you are going to have to pay us for that anyways". I understand this is partially my fault for leaving my car there without knowing the extent of their services; nonetheless, I did not give them the validation to start working on my vehicle. Ended up paying a "Diagnostic fee" of $99.50, & when asked what they specifically did with my car before leaving, it was to my surprise they actually hadn't worked on it. Simply just popped the hood, ran their "Diagnostic", & charged me for declining service. Moral of the story, not a good place to bring your vehicle. I would definitely recommended another auto shop.

Great place to get work done on your vehicle, when you buy your own parts and only pay labor.

I don't regularly write reviews, though I read them a lot, specially before trusting my car to someone I don't know. Its very hard to find a mechanic that you can trust to do good work and be honest with the cost. I have been bringing my car to BYOP for several years now and always been very satisfied , not only with the price, but how they explained what needed to be done, why and how much it would cost. I drive a Porsche 924T and I took my car there the first time because the twin owner's cars are high performance cars as well and I figure they would know how to take care of them. Although it took me a while, I no longer have to stay there the whole time watching and making sure they only work on the area of my car that has the issue. I just drop my car and they will call me when is done. And its far less expensive that the Porsche dealership.Service: General repairs & maintenance

281 location. These guys will sabotage your car to make you come back for more repairs. My wife took her care less than a month ago to get a CV axle fixed, one CV boot was torn, passenger side was good. Will over the weekend I changed the struts on my Wife's car, and low and behold, the rubber boot from the CV axle on the passenger side is completely gone. This looks like some one took a blade cutter and just cut it completely off.

I should have read all these bad reviews before taking my car to this place. The mechanic seems to do a good work but management are thieves, they charged me for parts and labor of work that was NEVER done to the car, saying that they discovered that the reason I brought the car on the first place was not the issue, which is not only understandable but appreciated, however they still charged me me for the original work. That's called STEALING. It was Saturday evening and they were about to close and management wasn't there so I chose to pay otherwise they wouldn't release the car. I contacted the manager a few times asking for the refund but they ignored it. Stealing $150 is not only illegal but immoral and the best way to lose a customer.

They will try to work with you BUT won't check parts to verify if they fit. Will charge you before checking to see if the part is the correct part. Noticed part was wrong and still pulled it off and charged full price. Save yourself the money and just just get it done at a real mechanic.

Very friendly and helpful! The gentleman that assisted me today with my red 2013 fusion was very knowledgeable. He identified quickly that I had the wrong part and offered to help get another delivered asap. After the repair he communicated that he checked the vehicle and shared his concerns with what would need to be treated in the future and provided me with an estimate. Great service and hospitality! Thank you BYOP on 281!

First time here and what a great experience! Brought my 2012 Dodge Charger in to replace the stock front grill and lower grill with an after market grill. The price quoted was exactly what I was charged even though there was a change in plans and the whole bumper had to be taken off so I should have been charged more honestly. Definitely recommend coming here for any Service as Martin/James and Jennifer's professionalism were amazing! Staff made it comfortable and relaxing not to mention a quick turn around...Me being new to the area just getting here they have definitely earned my business. and made me feel welcomed! Check them out!!!

They did great work, a one day job took three days they said the parts were the hold up . was happy with what they did although it was a little frustrating that the mechanic left oil stains from his hands throughout the interior / seat stained in leather has oil in the leather seems . that I had to clean up. My truck was 20 years old so I didn t get upset but if someone had a newer truck and I saw oil fingerprints everywhere all over it I would be not happy . Some of the stains did not come out but what can you do. . With the work they did I am happy and satisfied it did take longer than expected.

Brought my car to get my Timing belts fixed, and they didn t mention that certain engines have issue when a Belt brakes and bend valves that lead to more engine issues. Every other shop I asked after picking car up, said I shouldn t have even fixed the problem, since they knew about the valves issue with my model of car. I Paid $800 for nothing. Seems like they didn t want to mention this till after issue wasn t working. They said they fixed the Timing Belt though. Smh

I brought my BMW in with a drivetrain malfunction. I know BMW work can be so expensive, I was nervous to see what they were going to say was wrong.. The mechanic was not only quick to get me an honest diagnosis, but fixed my problem fast and efficiently. In no time I was back in my BMW with no more error message, and no more problems. I was very relieved to have gotten the problem fixed in such a short amount of time and at such an affordable cost. Everyone at Bring Your Own Parts was so friendly and accommodating to all of my needs. Nothing but a good experience here! Recommend to all my close family and friends!!!Thank you BYOP for a pleasant experience!!!

A bit pricy and there is a lack of empathy when customers are waiting. The shop s policy is to check a list of components on every vehicle to earn additional business even if customers are waiting for service for 3+ hours. In my case I was told I needed shock absorbers despite having a new set installed 6 months prior.

These guys are GREAT! I am a single woman traveling on a seven thousand mile road trip around the country. Driving late at night, I hit a pothole coming off the freeway and it broke my front end suspension brackets that hold the radiator in place. I am on a tight budget and schedule. I immediately felt safe in this shop with no fears that these guys would rip me off. I was helped by Shaun Lawrence, he provided several solutions to my problem so that I could choose which one best fit my budget and travel schedule. I am sitting in the cafe inside the shop right now and it is very clean and comfortable. Other employees here have checked on me to make sure I have everything I need to make my wait as pleasurable as possible. I am extremely impressed with the customer service here and wish all car repair shops were like this one! Thank you BYOP for a great experience!

Called in and spoke with Justin over a month ago for an exhaust quote and he said it'd be about 500. I forgot who I spoke to when i arrived but he also confirmed it'd be about 500 for everything as well. I was told to drop my car off in the morning for a confirmed estimate. When I arrived he said the estimate would take around 4 hours! Just ridiculous.. had to call a ride home. It didn't even take 4 hours it took into the next day! I called many times the day of the drop off and no answer or online update. Then the next day around 2PM I stopped in after class after receiving no calls all day. I had to go in the shop to get someone. He says that whoever had my estimate wasn't in and he'd be in later and he'd call me. 2 hours later no call! I had to go in myself AGAIN and then waited to get my estimate in the office finally. He then proceeds to tell me after having to explain him what I wanted done that it'd be $1,260!! Way higher than original quote, not sure how he got it in the first place if he didn't know what I wanted till then and that also doesn't explain why they had my car for two whole days almost. I proceeded to give them the benefit of the doubt and the guy said he'd email or text me some stuff for the exhaust the next day to help me understand the pricing. Received absolutely nothing to this day and I took my business somewhere WAY better the next day and had my exhaust done there super quick with great work. STAY AWAY from this place, horrible management.

Brought my Ford service truck in with a blown out spark plug about six months ago to have it fixed. Ended up also replacing my spark plugs and coils as recommend. They did a great job in a timely manner. Came back with idle problem and with no hesitation took my truck in right away and fixed my issue. Thank you so much for taking care of me!!!

PSA: Do not ever take your Vehicle to Bring Your Own Parts on 281! My windshield wiper motors conked out, I took it over there, 100$ dollars to tell me what I already knew and 896$ for parts and labor, extremely difficult to get to and install . I said screw that, I ll do it myself. Freaking liars, the motors were easier to take out than the battery, parts only cost 216$, they wanted to charge 680$ for less than an hours worth of work. Avoid these scam artists at all costs!

The technician who took in the vehicle was very short, took phone calls mid conversation, and was not helpful at explaining the costs of the repair. The prices were unjustifiably high and more than quoted over the phone. The initial quote is what led me to have my vehicle towed here, but after dealing with the BYOP employee had my vehicle not been on their tow truck I d have taken it elsewhere.

I've been using BYOP for over a year now. Many shops hate dealing with my 2005 Volvo S60T5 even though it is a solid vehicle... because if something goes wrong it can be tough to diagnosis. Since I have been going here Tim and Shawn have taken care of me, found the issues quickly, and charged less than what I found at shops that would take my car. They even stuck with the pricing on my radiator, even when it was a nightmare to work on! Most recently they had to align my car twice because there was a bolt loose (my fault from replacing the ball joints) yet only charged me for the alignment. They are honest, goodhearted and professional... I highly recommend them.

Good Morning, Let me you how awesome "Bring Your Own Parts" is and the people who are there. My wife and I were driving up 281 and had seen this new location. Not really knowing what is was all about except for the obvious. We made a phone call up to the place and we were going to be heading out on vacation, really needed to have the windows tinted. When I called Craig who answered was very polite and answers all of my questions. When I had made an appointment to get the van looked at, it was Shaun who assisted me with all the details and quotes. I have to say how awesome the shop is and the detail they showcase their cars in the lobby.Shaun was of the utmost professional, as we communicated through email and text msgs to make sure we were on the same page. Even when I had a question close to12am at night he answered promptly. When we picked up the van Shaun stayed late on a Saturday to take care of us knowing we were really needing this for our trip. When the van was all said and done she was very well taken care of and walked me through everything that was done as each window was handled with detail. Before I had brought the van in there was a dark smudge on the front of the van. Shaun talked to me a little about it saying it would come right out. I didn't believe him and Shaun decided to got out of his way and not only have a good conversation, but at the same time buff and rub our the smudge which took about five minutes.I can't say enough good things about this company, the people, and "how" they continue to treat myself, & my family as we are going back to have another car tinted.Thank you for all your personal touches on the Van and getting to know us as friends and not just customers.

Went to pay using my DEBIT card, which required me to enter my PIN number! The female cashier required me to give her my Drivers License number and date of birth, which she wrote down. She said if I wanted my car that s what was required! She looked at my drivers license, It was my debit card and my picture looks like me! You should NOT be required to give that information to pay and again it s debit! Will not be using any of Bring Your Own Parts and I will be telling all my friends as well.Service: Brakes

Took in 2015 Dodge Journey because it wouldn't start. I called the store on 281 and they sent a tow truck since I couldn't start my truck. They told me I needed a new battery. They took care of everything for me and I was done by the end of my lunch break. Shop was very nice and clean and organized, and the shop guy Justin was friendly and was very helpful. Would recommend to a friend and would go back if needed.
