I ve taken our cars there on a few occasions now, mostly small jobs I.e. inspection etc. they re quick, I ll give them that. It s a full service station, but not amenities like snacks or drinks that I ve seen. Not as reasonable as my old mechanic, but not as pricey as others around. The one complaint I have is the customer service side of it, it s poor. I m not looking for glitter and balloons, but a hello , thanks goes a long way. Even a friendly smile, if you look at and engage with the customer works. I don t even think anyone looked at me, it s all business. Will I go back probably, it s close by. I won t fill up though, ha ha.

I had a vehicle inspection done here because my disabled mother was unable to bring her Cadillac in. She has cancer and uses a walker. They always take good care of her. The lady referenced in some reviews was kind. She told me there were 3 vehicles ahead of me and gave me a time, but they exceeded that time and got my mother's car inspected in 20 minutes which was far less time than I expected. They were fast, efficient, and kind. They are a full service small gas and vehicle repair. My mother goes there and recommended them. They were excellent and the lady at the front WAS kind.

I'm always skeptical about mechanics, but Carl was amazing. He was so patient answering my million questions, he was knowledgeable and straight forward. If I could give Carl 10 stars I would. I won't be going anywhere else.Services: Air conditioning, Battery, Oil changeServices: Air conditioning, Battery, Oil change

PLEASE READ Terrible customer service. The heavy set lady up front has a SERIOUS attitude problem. She made something simple turn into something complicated. You ask simple reasonable questions and you are met with hostility and bitterness. I recommend going somewhere where employees actually value customers.. As soon as I walked in she called the mechanic and told him to stop what he s doing and to bring my keys over The mechanic took my car on a test drive came back in the shop and handed me my keys without ever saying a word or even acknowledging me, I was speechless, I would give 0 stars if I could. The lady up front then tries to tell me what is wrong with my car without ever looking at it. I didn t bring my car in for her to guess what s wrong with it. I felt unwelcome and felt that she was trying to get me out of the establishment. i brought my car in a 7AM for a simple diagnostic test. The lady up front told me it would take LONGER THAN 8 HOURS.

Despite other reviews I had a positive experience here!! It s not all the time people can always be in the best mood. But when there was a miscommunication about something to be done on the car , Peggy was very amenable and flexible to help me out and correct things. Very appreciative !

I've been going to Ferguson's for 8 years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. They are fair and give great service. Many times when I go they are able to fix my issues quickly without much work and they will charge me accordingly if at all. I've been very happy with Ferguson's and even though I live far away now, I still make the journey to go there for my car repair needs. Honesty in a mechanic is worth it's weight in gold!

While tempting to emotionally give someone a terrible 1-star review for basically being "The Soup Nazis" of the automotive world, I also will fairly balance that I obtained the service I went there for (an inspection) in a timely and successful manner. Lousy customer service balanced with a reasonable amount of time for an inspection balance out to 3 stars. But to echo other recent reviewers, the customer service here I would rate a 2 out of 10. They seemed to have an attitude that they were doing me a massive favor to inspect the car (which is not a money generator for the business ... understood, but they need to understand that as a customer I am basing my decision on where to have my car serviced in the future, and it most definitely will NOT be at James Ferguson Automotive). The lady at the front seemed really annoyed. The person who inspected the vehicle let the door slam in my face after he finished the inspection; somehow I was supposed to know to follow him in to finalize the payment, yet he didn't indicate in any way ... I know this sounds petty, but this is the type of horrible customer service that drive people away. That was my one-and-done with this business. In summary, in a pinch I'm sure they are capable at fixing a car and proved they can inspect a vehicle, but just know you are going to feel like you are bothering someone in the middle of their first vacation in a decade.Service: Vehicle Inspection

So I'm reviewing a gas station... whatever, this place is amazing. Now, granted I don't have extensive experience with their major services, but from my wife's experience at this station today I can only assume they are just really good people. Here's the story:My wife was in the area at a running store nearby. She knew one of her tires was low and happened to ask the guy at the running shop if he knew the closest gas station with air available. He says "oh, you HAVE to go to the Shell down the road... they're THE BEST."Strange praise, but whatever, she drives over to this place. As she's getting out of the car, a service guy approaches, having noticed the low tire, and immediately goes about being super helpful. She hadn't pulled into the service garage, mind you, just up next to the pumps like she was getting gas - speaking of which, this station has WORKING AIR AT EVERY PUMP.The service guy then tells her she can just wait in the car and he'll get the tire filled up for her. She complies and a minute later he's letting her know it's all fixed, but there's a nail in the tire, and because of the type of tire they can't fix it but to call the dealer and get an appointment asap. And have a great day. No haggling about service or tips or anything - just being awesome people helping out.

They need some lessons in customer service.I replaced the AC compressor on my old Volvo last week. I took it to this location to have the system evacuated before I did the work and was told it wouldn't be a problem to recharge it once I completed the work. I dropped the car off this morning to get it recharged. There was one tech in the office when I arrived who greeted me with a 'what do you need' and no eye contact. I love this car, and don't trust too many other hands on it, so I tried to carefully explain what I'd done, that I was a shadetree wrench and not a pro, and would like them to check my work as well as install the O rings on the compressor and tighten the fittings. The gentleman appeared to understand and told me I'd likely need to replace the drier as well, I said that'd be fine and to let me know. I got a call thirty minutes later from Peggy asking what I wanted done with the car. When I explained again what I needed, she began to argue with me about the work and said I should've just brought the car in to them for the full compressor change, that now they'll have to do more work. I was amazed. Had this conversation gone another way, I would've gladly approved the work and they would've gotten a lot more money today, but because of her attitude, I canceled the service and picked up the car. I'll gladly take it somewhere else that wants my business. If the conversation had been professional, perhaps a list of exactly what needed to be done and what they wanted to bill, that would've been fine, but she acted as if they didn't want to do the work. No problem, I'll go elsewhere. Horrendous service. Shame.

As the saying goes, you really do get what you pay for. I have been taking my cars to James Ferguson's shop for many years now, and they have always treated me fairly and performed excellent work on my vehicles. These guys have been repairing vehicles for so long, there's nothing they can't handle on a domestic car. They will gladly show you exactly why your belts and hoses need to be replaced, and they will not rip anyone off. Take it from a guy who has owned dozens of vehicles in his day (me), and who has been ripped off many times in the past: Ferguson is a good, trustworthy mechanic, and they will take good care of you!On a side note, to SBreeze who claims that Lamb's repaired her car "for free", eliminating the noise is not much of a repair. If Ferguson told you that you need a new belt, then you really do need a new belt. But I guess you'll learn that lesson the hard way when your belt breaks on the freeway and you're stuck waiting for a tow truck in the blazing Texas heat! Also, I bought tires from Lamb's once and they sold me a wheel alignment, but when they couldn't complete the alignment because they didn't have the proper tools, they still charged me full price! Not a great idea to consider the local tire shop your mechanic of choice! Nothing personal against the Lamb's guys, I just won't ever buy anything from them again after that bait-and-switch.The reason Ferguson always recommend preventative replacements on hoses and belts is because they have been doing this for long enough to know that the extreme heat here in central Texas really does wear those components out more rapidly than in most other parts of the country. You are way better off swapping parts out before they break than having an actual breakdown which will undoubtedly cost you more than the preventative maintenance you should be doing (consider the tow truck, the loss of time, missing your appointment/flight/class/daughter's birthday/etc, and potentially causing further damage -- or ruin -- to your vehicle from a blown hose or a broken belt!).

Ferguson's has always been very honest with me. They've diagnosed a blown fuse and replaced it without charge, they've fixed things that could've been very expensive by finding the real cause and not charging me much at all. They're always great to work with. A couple times, they diagnosed my car and found they couldn't fix the problem (big time exhaust and backflow issues), and they didn't even charge me for all their time. I was referred to them by another person that told me they are very credible and that suggestion has proved correct. I'd highly recommend them.

Good people running it but prices are a little bit expensive. Smitty, a mechanic there, Is simply the best and most honest mechanic you will ever meet in your life. He will bend over backwards to make sure your job is done correctly. Be sure to ask for him specifically if you go get work done there. I moved 250 miles away, but I still drive all the way back to have him do my auto work because he is the only mechanic I've ever met in my lifetime that I can trust.

People understandably write reviews when they are disappointed. For my part, I want to assure any people considering using Ferguson that they have been honest, helpful and reliable with me and my family with all our vehicles for the past 20 years. I'm sure they will make mistakes and have bad days like all of us, but I personally have never seen any.

Rudest people I've ever dealt with. Two people yelled at me and another man was dismissive and completely ignored me. All I needed was to have my car inspected and they treated me like I was an inconvenience. I don't know how they stay in business with their aggressive "customer service".

First google review ever. I have lived in this neighborhood 7 years. Fergusons has amazing employees doing the actual work, but after this weekend and today I will no longer be taking my vehicle or the 3 vehicles in my family to Fergusons. Always good work and good prices, but after 7 years of being greeted in the office as if I were an annoyance or or disruption, I will pay more and wait longer down the street. I like supporting small businesses, but only when deserved. Anyone can have a bad day, and I know that from my 21 years in service. I would like to wish Ferguson's well, but it would be a lie. I find it hard wish people success when they treat people so badly. I dont expect fake, inauthentic behavior, but just common respect and courtesy for other human beings enter your space.

Hey Austin, last night i had to evacuate from hurricane Harvey, this morning I start the journey to family in Florida, however I needed some maintenance before the road trip. The service I received was as good as it gets( I'm in the auto industry and truly mean that.) Everyone was extremely courteous and professional, and when the bill came Peggy handed my keys and told me to have a safe trip that this was on the house. With everything else going on and losing my home I can't put into words how much this meant to me I really didn't have the extra money to spend. To Peggy Ferguson and the entire team thank you from the bottom of my heart, I couldn't possibly give a higher recommendation. Please if you're in the area choose Ferguson automotive first!

I love this place. Since I moved into this neighborhood about 1.5 yr ago I found this place to do my oil change, they even give you a car wash voucher!!! The car wash even has community scrubs for tires, brush for your whole car, and a pre soak spray before even entering the wash itself. Amazing people, everyone is open to helping you.

I've been a loyal customer of Ferguson Automotive for the last 12 years spending thousands of dollars on gas, repairs, state inspections for the 4 cars I've owned during that time. Unfortunately that changed this past weekend.I took my car in to have them check out an intermittent noise coming from one of the tires. After an inspection I got a call from them saying they would need to replace calipers and redo the brake pads (grand total about $1200). I figured since the car was under warranty for this case I'd take it into the dealer. I went to pick up my car when I was told I would have to pay a $50 inspection fee. I was a little surprised because in the past they've told me this before they do any work. Over the years they have been great about telling me that check engine lights or other estimates would cost money. There have also been plenty of times they've given me estimates and I've decided it wasn't worth fixing the issue. I didn't even say I wouldn't pay it. I was just curious about the change. However my asking really made the person angry and he told me that he wouldn't charge me but that I was not to come back. It's my first time being fired as a customer! It's unfortunate they'd not want me to continue spending my money there over a simple misunderstanding.I took my car into the dealer. A quick inspection revealed it was just some rust on the rotor and the noise is now gone. Net net: being fired as a customer saved me $1200 in unneeded repairs. I recommend you avoid my experience and just find another mechanic.

My break lights wouldn't turn on. I Originally took it to lamb auto. They were gonna charge me over 90 dollars just to look at it! I thought i'd give James Ferguson a try, since it was just down the street.I kid you not, for roughly the same price as Lamb's was gonna charge me just to look at it, they fixed it. No charge for diagnostics and a free carwash!I will be using them from now on for my automotive needs.Service: Electrical repair

VERY DISSATISFIED. I was quoted $800 for a repair that Lamb's did for free! I was told that I needed a new fan belt, but when Lamb's looked at it they pulled of a tiny fragment that was causing the noise on the belt and charged me nothing. Did I mention that when I called Lamb's they only quoted me $150 for labor and parts for a new fan belt? So, I was only over-quoted by $650 if I even needed one which I didn't! I feel like I was taken advantage of here and I will never go back. Lamb's Tire & Automotive on Far West now has my business for life and I would recommend you choose them over James Ferguson any day!

Don't take your car there for AC work. Each time you have to come back to get it right they'll gig you for another 3 or 400 bills. That is after the first $600 and two visits.

I took my Toyota Tundra to these folks (with my own shocks- struts I purchased - 'Bilstein"). They said they would install them at $105.00 per hour. They told me that it would be approximately two hours to install. My final bill was for four hours.Total $450.08. Can anybody tell me that they have ever had a labor bill for over $400 to install shocks and struts. Avoid this trap at all cost.DF
