I just arrived in Tennessee from Oregon and my service light came on. Googled auto shops in the area and found Smith Automotive. Called them and they got me in and out within the hour, price was absolutely reasonable, and I feel beyond blessed to have found them so I can finish my journey with confidence. They are the most kind and genuine people; truly knowledgeable mechanics and earth angels! If you re in the Crossville area please support this local business!

I had to have the rear axle and differential replaced on my (late) dad's 2014 F-150 XLT 4WD 5.0L.The original owner of it hauled horses and the seal busted and leaked and it was somewhat expensive $3,690 but it has a unlimited mileage 3year warranty with new axle and differential! I could have saved a $1,000 but it had a 25,000 mile warranty and it was all rebuilt as new axle with new differential..which is ultimately cleaned,inspected and rebuilt unless u buy all the parts actually new and build it which will cost even more part by part. I am glad to have my truck back now as it was left to me and it is smooth driving and new rear shocks. Over all so far very happy..I do not plan on getting rid of the truck anytime soon and besides who can afford to buy a new or new used truck for $45,000- $90,000 this day and age?

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee developed an Electrical Problem involving passenger side mirror, Windows, Doors, and Hatch stayed Locked, which Dealership Wouldn't Touch.I Took it to Tracy which After looking at It, said He Could Fix It. And Two Hours Later IT WAS FIXED. Back to normal Operation. I Am now Convinced That I Have A Great mechanic and Shop,and Will be Returning for My Repairs. My old truck was in an accident. Tracy was nice enough to squeeze in and replace the steering box, and do a front end alignment. The old truck has driven this good in a long time. I moved to Crossville TN in June of 2021. I looked for a credible and reliable automotive shop to establish a relationship with that I could trust. I found Smith automotive after speaking with a few people. I met Tracy the owner and explained to him that I wanted to establish a relationship with a mechanic as I have a 1968 c10 project truck and a 2018 Wrangler JLU.Tracy has went above and beyond when working on both of my vehicles. My jeep needed the camshafts replaced as a factory recall. After speaking to two different dealerships, it was clear that I wanted Tracy to perform the recall work as I didn't feel comfortable with the other people I spoke with about the problem. Tracy had already performed modifications to the suspension on my c-10 and maintenance on my Jeep. I have always been very satisfied with the professional and timely work that his shop puts out.I should add that before I moved here my stepson was my mechanic so I have come to expect being treated like family. I have to say that Tracy and his employees treat me as part of the family and I know I can rest assured that when I go in with a problem they will take care of it as it was their own vehicle.I am very happy with the service I receive at his business and count myself lucky as I have found a honest and trustworthy mechanic I can count on.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Auto engine diagnostic

I have been taking vehicles to Tracy to fix for several years now. Anything from just changing brakes all the way to changing a transmission. Old cars to new, he has fixed them all for me. The latest was a 2019 Ford Escape with a CVT transmission. It went out and was of course out of warranty. Ford could not get a new transmission due to parts shortages, go figure. Tracy tracked down a low mileage transmission from a place out of town and had it installed pretty quickly. He advised me to stay away from CVT transmissions and on further research I found him to be 100% correct. We are from WAY out of town and our car gave out on us (alternator). This awesome family-run business had us back on the road in about two hours. My dad is a mechanic so I know when I'm getting worked-over, but these guys are honest and open about every detail and incredibly friendly. The diagnostic came with a thorough review and explanation from the owner, himself. Not to mention, they had the part we needed ordered before we even arrived! They made our tough situation a breeze. God led us to this mechanic and we are so grateful that they got us back on the road so that we could enjoy the rest of our vacation.If you guys are reading this, we made it to our destination and our car is running perfectly. The Owner talk me into trusting him to work on my car, i regret that..They offered me and my Dad a refund in exchange for a good review and then would not do that when my dad returned a day or two later, told us they was going to call around to the other garages and make up a story about us being scammers and they would come to our house if we said anything..*This is unacceptable*It might cost a bit more but it would be WELL WORTH IT to take your car to EAST TN DODGE if you care about your car like i do..My dad decided to record the whole thing with his cell phone when they started cussing and calling him vulgar names and i am glad he did.. They told me the owner was having a bad week and didnt have time to fool with $100 jobs when he needs money.. i cant help that, and he shouldnt take it out on me.I hope if you go here they treat you with respect and are kind and fix your car because of this being brought to light, after all you are the person who is paying them to work for you, not the other way around.If you dont already have a Good mechanic,Take your car to the dealer, they are trained properly and avoid being mistreated and threatened like i was unfortunately.I recommend taking someone with you if you go here.. They wasnt bad until i came back and they seen i was alone.

Took my vehicle in for plugs and coils and the overflow bottle. I supplied all parts, they called me about 2 weeks later said I needed a throttle body. I supplied one. $500.00 later I got the car back every light on the dash was on. For some reason the added trans fluid and it was the wrong kind ruined my trans. I checked the factory throttle body it was fine, I reinstalled it, car ran much better. Transmission had to have the fluid flushed and filter changed, still the wrong fluid burnt the trans up. They cost me a lot of money. I would not recomend them to do any work on a vehicle!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I'm a retired ASE mechanic and finding a shop I can trust is a very big deal for me. I stopped and talked to them about my A/C and made an appointment for the next day. I got my car there and they were ready for me within a few minutes of my appointment time "Punctuality". They took my car in and checked it over then called me out to see what they had found so I could see it for myself "Professionalism". They told me what it would cost for the parts and they could fix it right away if I wanted them to....they also told me that the problem I had was a common one they saw with the make of vehicle I had and that the part to fix it was an OEM style part that has since been discontinued but there was no upgrade from what they knew. Considering the car is almost 20 years old and the part lasted that long I was confident the original replacement would last as long as I was likely going to have the car. It took them about an hour total to fix my car and the price was considerably less than what I had expected it to be "Value". They found a part on my car that was missing a couple nuts and bolts and was making a rattling noise and fixed it as well. The A/C was blowing hot air when I took it in and was blowing so cold I took it out that I had to turn the heater on "Quality". After talking to him and getting a feel for his knowledge in making repairs of any kind I would highly recommend them for any and all repairs one might need for their car or truck. I couldn't be happier with the work performed and will not hesitate to take my car in to them for it's future needs.

Tracy at Smith Automotive was an absolute God-send in a stressful highway breakdown. Mid 3 day road trip, my catalytic converter partially fell off in the middle of i-40. I was towed to Tracy's shop. It was a Saturday, so I was planning to wait until Monday for him to look at my car. He then called me Saturday night to hear what happened and offered to come in on a Sunday to fix it for me so I could continue my long trip. He was very fair, honest, generous and quality. He doesn't cut corners or play games. Finding an honest mechanic is a needle in a haystack, I can't believe my luck. I would drive way out of my way to see him again. If you are close to Crossville, you would be silly to go anywhere else. Thank you Tracy!!!

Mr smith made a point to do a full checkup on our van that was leaking oil. He told us a recommendation to do before we got the oil leak fixed and even told us a shop to take it to to get a second opinion if we needed it. He then fixed our problem and discovered a problem with the van we didnt even know we had. He fixed the van in a very timely fashion and for a very fair price. After being told by a couple of other places before to just not worry about it, it was a real treat to find someone who was willing to do a full checkup on it and actually fix the problem. Highly recommend.

My car broke down on Sunday while traveling from Texas to New Jersey. We were not planning to stop in Crossville but glad we did as Smith Automotive took care of my vehicle first thing Monday morning so that I could get back on the road. They are very professional and explained to me what would need to be done and gave me a time frame and completed the repairs within that time frame. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone traveling through the area or anyone living in the area.

My wife and I recently traveled from the Nashville area to Crossville for a quick get-a-way. Upon arrival, I discovered what appeared to be transmission fluid all under my 4Runner. I had just had the transmission fluid replaced and was worried that there was now a leak. Tracy Smith, the owner at Smith Automotive was able to get right to it. He checked the fluid level and determined that it had been over filled and that the leak was from the fluid blowing out of the vent on top of the transmission. He determined that it would be safe to drive back home. While he had it on the rack, he throughly looked things over for me, and even checked the air in my tires! Very friendly gentleman and seemed very competent!

I have taken vehicles from a 80's model pick up trucks with big blocks to a 2012 Volkswagen with turbo. They have fixed it all. Great friendly people that take extra care to take care of their customers. Always a great experience.

I came into Smith Automotive for the first time with a very difficult & time consuming repair. As the job unfolded many unforeseen difficulties developed yet failing to overcome these obstacles was NOT an option for the owner, Tracy. He persevered and accomplished the task with skill, patience, and a great attitude. In addition he was fair with me on the labor cost. I highly recommend Smith Automotive for your next repair to get the job done right and with care!

Took my work van to Smith Automotive they diagnosed it and fixed it in no time flat. I was back on the road working very reasonable price and very professional and knowledgeable staff. I would not hesitate to take any of my vehicles back to Smith Automotive.

Smith automotive was highly recommended to me by a friend, and I am beyond pleased with there quality work and customer service, my vehicle was in and out in one day and done right the first time with very fair pricing. Very knowledgeable and helpful. They actually didn't do the repairs on our vehicle but they sent me directly to where I needed to go to have the work done and I wouldn't have known that it was covered under a recall if it wasn't for these folks

I was told that he would do a complete and comprehensive diagnostics on my truck and pin point my issue(s). When they finally got done, all they did I could have had done for free at Auto Zone. All I got was an OBD code that did not pin point any issue and all this guy could do was explain how expensive it would be for him to try this, then try that and do this other thing which might or might not work. I spent $60 on getting a general OBD code that I could have gotten for from any auto parts store for free. Or, I could have bought an OBD scanner for less than $60 that would have provided much more information then this guy. What a rip off.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I can t put into words how great this place is! Not only have they been wonderful with taking care of my car but they also really do care about their customers! I had to drop my car off over night and wasn t able to find a ride and they did not hesitate to offer a ride! They really do go out of their way to make sure that not only your car safe and taken care of but that you are as well!
