We were 775 miles from home on a mini fall vacation when our truck decided to stop working. After talking with 4 dealerships and multiple repair shops... all telling us 3 to 4 weeks out before they would even be able to LOOK at it, I called Southside Service. What an amazing experience. We talked on the phone first and Pat gave us some ideas on what to try. In the end we had it towed to Southside. Before we could get to the shop Pat had it up on the lift and found we had a failed Starter. Pat called to find a Starter and we chose to go pick it up. Back in Pat's hands he had it installed and back on the road in less than two hours. We cannot say enough good things about Southside Service and Pat the Owner. If you need help and it just feel like no one wants to help... Call Southside Service. They are fast, honest, fair and willing to help. I feel blessed that we found this place. Our vacation turned out so good and a big reason was Pat. Thank you for your help!

We popped a tire while out and about exploring the Black Hills. Being from Minnesota, we knew the spare would not get us back. Worried about it being a Saturday and needing to leave Monday morning, we set out towards Deadwood and came across Southside Service. So glad we did!We pulled up and the technicians were happy to help even in the middle of another job. They found a proper used tire that fit the car and had us back out on the road within 20 minutes. I highly recommend this place and the helpful technicians!

We found a nail in one tire, we put the spare on and after reading the reviews for Southside and because we're staying in Deadwood, we stopped by. The owner was very nice, said they'd get it fixed right away. We were going to get it the next a.m., but stopped by a couple of hours later and found they had it fixed. They swapped it out with the spare and all was good. Friendly and knowledgeable business!

The kind of service shop you dream of finding: the owner is extensively experienced, honest, forthright and conscientious.Was in a bad spot 1,600 miles from home and developed a 4WD driveline vibration. Would have had to wait two weeks in that area to even get an appointment to have it looked at.Per our request Southside worked diligently and fixed us up enough to get back home where we weren t paying elevated bike week accommodation fees with stay minimums.At home we could more cost effectively shop the parts, wait for them to be shipped/delivered and installed.The owner is one of the most admirable men I ve met. Only wish his business was in my home town.How lucky you are Deadwood and anyone staying or traveling through in need of any type of repair.

After forgetting to put my bike in tow mode I got to town and found the battery completely dead. After striking out with the motorcycle shops I decided to stop in this little shop. Pat couldn t have been more helpful. Got the battery charged up and I was on my way. You can tell by the shear number of people that stop by to leave their vehicles of just to get gas and chat that Pat has the respect of the community.

Thorough, courteous, honest, and quick. We were in the area on vacation and were surprised to have someone answer the phone early on Saturday morning. Our problem was relatively simple (failed to get the oil changed before a long road trip and it started causing some problems) and he managed to fit us in despite being busy. Very grateful for the help.

I'm from the next town over and I really just needed a real quick favor, so I was there a few minutes and in that time I was impressed with how well he cares for his customers. It's very obvious that he's busy but he makes time for the little things requested by people. A good mechanic's shop is ALWAYS busy like that! I just appreciate the kindness to help me, and from what all was going on in there I know any vehicle they service will be in good hands.

My car was broke down in lead. I got it towed here, originally thinking it just needed a new battery. So they put one in and the engine still wasn t turning over. They tried different things for a while. It eventually started working. They were super friendly, let me know what was going on, and test drove it before letting me take off with it. Great service. They helped us with truck problems we were having after towing our four-wheelers 400 miles. They answered our call and answered all of our questions on the phone and told us when we could drop off the vehicle. Upon arrival we noticed that they had a lot of work to do and we're worried that they wouldn't get to our vehicle. About 45 minutes from them closing for the day they gave us a call to let us know they had fixed our problem and to our surprise it only had taken them one hour to fix our vehicle! We were very happy with the service and it wasn't the first time they helped us out.

I found myself at this station because it was the closest to the hotel. I'm glad it was this station. My hood latch would not close completely. They got it fixed and had me back on the road in 10 minutes no charge. If I lived in Deadwood this is the place I would take my work to have it done. Kindness and helpfulness goes a long way. I was expecting to pay at least 20 bucks they charged me $0 and I'm grateful for that

Scheduled service on a couple issues we were having plus scheduled an oil change at the same time. They got us in quickly, plus they were able to take care of other issues we were having that we weren't aware they could do and they got us immediately scheduled for that also. I can't say enough good things about South Side Service. So good to know there is a reputable knowledgeable place to take our vehicles. Excellent service, very friendly! Had absolutely no problems helping us out. Had wires showing on 1 of our tires and owner had 1 on hand he had us pull up and put it on and a second on the other side as well.No appointment, just there to help an out of town customer. Felt like you knew him for years.Thank you so much! We now can drive back to Wisconsin without fear of blowing out a tire.

We were on a trip from Minnesota to Montana and had stopped in Deadwood, South Dakota for a night. My Chevy Equinox had a sulfur smell that started once we got to Deadwood and we weren't sure what was going on. I called Southside on Thursday night (about 1 hour before close) and Pat said they could get me in right away at 8:00am the next morning. When we got in the vehicle to bring it to Southside, the Equinox wouldn't start. Southside came to our hotel and jumped the vehicle. We got the vehicle to Southside and they got us in right away and replaced the battery and checked to make sure nothing else was amiss. Overall, service took less than 15 minutes and they were amazing! We got on the road right away and made it to our destination in Montana with no issues. Thank you for quality service and helping us continue on our trip!!! Best service around!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Battery

As soon as we entered Deadwood, we got a bungee cord that punctured our tire. Southside was able to patch our tire quickly and the mechanic (whose name I didn't catch) even explained every step to my kids, which they loved. Amazing place. We were so happy with them.

Very nice people! We had just finished loading the truck and trailer to head out of Deadwood for the road trip home half way across the country and found we had a nail in the trailer tire. I needed a tired on a Friday during peak tourism season. They got me in immediately, had a tire in stock, and had me back on the road in less than 30 minutes. Best auto repair service I have ever received anywhere. I can't recommend strongly enough!! Thank you!!Service: TiresService: Tires

The entire crew at Southside was awesome!! On Vacation from Upper Michigan, got almost all the way here and my truck started to overheat. I called him on Monday, he got the part in, and had it fixed within 15 minutes!!! Amazing people, so very nice!! Definitely recommend to anyone who visits and is in the area!!

Southside Service is a great service station. Pat was very helpful, explained the repair needed and completed the repair faster than expected. He was extremely reasonable on the price. Discussed future repairs needed and I look forward to him and his guys doing another fantastic job in an timely manner. Would reccomend for great service!

I can t recommend this business enough. We were on vacation and the starter seemed to have an issue. We called on a Saturday and said to come right over and he d have a look. Immediately checked the car and the battery, the car started fine once I was there (of course) but he offered to put on the new starter I had just purchased from Autozone. Once he took out the starter he found a loose bolt on it and reported the problem to me and put it all back together within minutes. Very fair pricing. No one else would have looked at it until Monday or Tuesday Pat saved our weekend and our trip!! Thank you so much!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Apparently locals do not get the same treatment as passing through tourists...The reviews led me to this place but I was quite disappointed. I needed a wheel bearing replacement. It took just over 2 weeks. Upon driving the car, I realized nothing had been fixed. He said, "Must be a bad part. Bring it back in a couple weeks." (This is after I had waited 2 weeks for it to even be touched! ) I took it back up, and upon test driving it a second time...there is an extreme pull to the right and metal grinding. I sat there while he test drove it...he then said, "You will need new brakes now."Why didn't he mention the brakes when I picked it up the first or second time???After having my car looked at by someone else... my brakes aren't even bad.

We were vacationing in the Black Hills and had a coil go out in our truck. We called Southside and talked to Pat. He was super busy but told us to bring it in, diagnosed it, got the part within 10 min and installed it pronto! Very impressed with the service oriented and kind people here. Could have been a bad trip but they fixed it in minutes and we re friendly and helpful. Awesome service. Awesome place!

We went there because we were having trouble with our vehicle starting while on a long road trip. They were really busy but quickly diagnosed and replaced the bad battery at a fair price. We really appreciated it and definitely recommend them!Service: BatteryService: Battery

Car trouble on vacation,1500 miles from home. Went to Ford in Rapid City SD only to be told they were booked until July, this was June 15. Hotel in Leads SD told us about Southside so we took it there. They took it right in, found the problem and had it fixed in about an hour at a very fare price. Can't say enough nice things about these people, could have taken us to the cleaners knowing we were between a rock and a hard place but they are honest people who were there to help us. We were traveling from MN and punctured a tire on a back road. We called Southside and they were able to fit us in. Our tire was not repairable and they were more than fair on the price of a used tire and put it back on our truck. We highly recommend this business to locals and travelers!

This is a family-owned business. This is where I have my vehicle repaired at, all the time. They are very honest, and very reasonable. I was a mechanic myself, and I know how a lot of places can rip you off without thinking twice about it. When I used to come out to Deadwood on vacation, my vehicle broke down, and I thought it was going to cost a lot more than what it did. My engine overheated, and I thought I had aluminum heads on it. He called me on the phone that afternoon and said that I lucked out, and the heads work cast and all I would need, would be head gaskets. He also work to get the job done in a very reasonable amount of time. Now that I am living here, I rely on him completely to keep my vehicle running. If you are in Deadwood and you have problems with your vehicle, please make sure you stop in and see him. I'm sure you will be very satisfied.

My friends have used this gas station well service station for ever. I have lived here for way over 11 years and never had a chance to stop by. My nineteen year old daughter has used Pat to work on every vehicle she has had. Not only has he fixed her cars but he has treated her better than anyone else. He has towed her car for free and he charges the best prices around.
