After searching all over Charleston for a good mechanic, I came across Shelton s automotive and I couldn t have been happier to go with him. He fixed leaks coming from my truck s steering rack and differential. Swapped out my upper control arms and did a bumper install. My truck feels, looks and drives so much better!

I would highly recommend Shelton s!!! James is amazing!!! Woke up this morning with a flat tire. Called Shelton s and asked if he could fix it since I needed it done quickly. He said yes and told me how to get to his shop from my location. Got there and he fixed my tire really quickly!! So thankful for James and his kindness. Thank you so much!! I will definitely use him for all my automotive repair needs from now on.

I recently came to Shelton's Automotive Services with a A/C issue that turned out to be extensive, with having to remove the dash. James was very knowledgeable, trustworthy, and easy to talk to. Not knowing much about the mechanics of a vehicle, it was really nice of him to explain what was going on. James had my car repaired faster then I could have imagined. I am greatful to have my A/C properly working . I have another car currently at his shop, and having the same great experience as before , I recommend Sheltons automotive to everyone I know.. Thank you James for all your hardwork!!

We were at Edisto on vacation when my son's 4Runner wouldn't start. Red battery light was on. Took the battery out and had it checked. It was bad. Put new battery in and checked to see if it was charging with a volt meter and it wasn't. I Googled auto repair near me and saw James' listing. Ratings were good so I gave him a call. James is super nice! He fit us in his schedule that day (Friday), checked out the electrical systme, verified that it was the alternator, gave me a fair quote, and had us good to go by 2pm! He was a Godsend! Auto emergencies on vacation are never good, but thanks to James, it all worked out!

Absolutely the best mechanic I ve ever seen. I ve reached out to him on a holiday weekend and he jumped into action diagnosed one of my vehicles and started working on my other. The Charleston area is very lucky to have Shelton s Automotive!

I am very happy to have found Shelton's Automotive Services. I have been a customer 2 times in the last year for the services listed above. Mr Shelton explains the problem in plain English and the costs to do the maintenance and/or replace a worn out part are really reasonable (especially compared to what the car dealership quoted me!). I was told that I had a valve leak at my vehicle's dealership service center, but Mr. Shelton carefully evaluated my vehicle over 2 days and discovered that there was no leak. My most recent experience was with the same vehicle and what I thought was a problem with my starter. Turns out that it was just my battery; I bought a new battery at one of the auto supply stores and the car is back running perfectly. James recently helped me out with a flat tire, he was so patient and very friendly! We have also used Shelton's for some work on another vehicle. He is super easy to work with, very reliable and fair. We will certainly continue to use his services in the future!

James provided immediate service when my oil light came on while traveling back to Atlanta from Kiawah. He was friendly, honest, and wasn't even going to charge me! So thankful he was available and willing to help this gal traveling solo.

James is a honest mechanic, answered every time I called and got me in that day. All other shops around told me 1-2 weeks out. He had my Jeep back and on the road ASAP. Will be coming back for any work in the future.

James worked on my mom's car when other dealerships would not see her for 1 to 3 weeks. He had her bring her car in and was personable and very knowledgeable. He came highly recommended by her tire mechanic.

James and his crew provide the most dependable service from Charleston to Savannah! I trust no one more with my vehicle than Shelton Automotive!! The prices are unbeatable and service and quality are second to none, he treats me with respect and dignity that I have yet to find in any automotive establishment that is wiiking distance of Shelton Automotive!! As a fleet owner, I greatly appreciate the honesty, hard work and timely service given by Shelton's Automotive- they keep all of my work trucks rolling and making me money. They also work on my personal truck and my wife's. 5 stars for James- I have witnessed him fix it all, from a mini bike to a Bently, heavy equipment repairs, body, frame, and engine swaps, 4x4 lifts and even farm tractor repairs. Truly an old school -do it all -mechanic shop also fully up to date with the newest technology. No one else gets my business. He even does great body work and paint jobs.

I have been going to Sheltons Automotive for years now. If you want to be back on the road in less time having spent less money than anywhere else then I'd go see James. If you enjoy wasting time and money, please go see someone else. Not only a good mechanic but does excellent custom fabrication work and will find and order anything you need from a new gas cap to new tires. Regardless of what you need you wont find a better mechanic or better prices anywhere in town!

This is one of the best shops I ve been to. They communicate very well, and keep things very transparent for the customer. They also diagnosed and fixed my car in a very timely manner. I've been going there for years now wouldn't take any of my vehicles anywhere else. James has worked on my last 3 cars doesn't matter make or model hes good with them. Straight forward guy I'd trust leaving money in my car when it's with him knowing it will be where I left it. I highly recommend taking your car to him. I have yet to find something he couldn't do.

Traveling through the Charleston area, 90 degree heat, of course we had a/c issues. They made room for us and got us on our way fast. I can understand why the other reviews are all 5 stars! Wish I could take them to Florida with us!Service: Air conditioningService: Air conditioning

James has been working on our cars since the early 2000s. From replacing the key lock cylinder, fuel pump, motor mounts and various other parts in our 2001 Ford Focus, intake gaskets and other repairs on our F150 to flawless paint work on our current Toyota 4Runner, James is mechanically talented in many areas. When we started bringing our cars to James the thing that kept us coming back was that he diagnosed and fixed the problems the first time.

Quick, dependable, and great value! Had my vehicle towed from N. Charleston, called at 8 pm, and got an answer. Next morning they knew the problem and the solution!
