Been a loyal customer since 2010. Went to get a oil change at 3:30pm 1/31/2024 and was told no one is doing any service. The carter's I know would never turn down a loyal customer for a oil change with 1 1/2 hrs left til business close. Familiar faces under new management. If this is how yall doing business I will take my hard earned money elsewhere. Pops would've never treated long time customers like this. This is how a good business goes in the toilet when pops isn't running things. Prices also been changed for the worse. BEWARE

Absolutely amazing! I would give 10 stars if I could. The mechanics are kind and were so patient with my questions and worries. The entire staff is absolutely amazing, this is going to be my first and only choice as long as I'm in the area. Thank you guys so much for your care!

If you re looking for genuine top notch service, then this is the place you want to go to have your vehicle worked on. From oil changes, to blowing a tire, to an ignition issue, Carter & Sons has been absolutely incredible to work with. I was recommended to them through work and I m blown away but the quality of care the entire team has every single time I m there. They have literally been a life saver and helped me out of a jam, on more than one occasion (my own doing!). I can t recommend them enough!!!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

JAN 2024OK; will be emailing you!EARLY July 2023STILL never called back with simple estimate. CRICKETS.LATE June 2023Never called back with simple estimate. Existing customer.June 2023WENT back today with an appointment for some routine service.Great experience. Check in/check out staff were good. Mr. Carter Jr. patiently explained the answers to my "Check this, please." questions with the help of a cell phone photo.Also, I observed all varieties of customers receiving friendly, attentive service. So kudos for that, too!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~May 2023WENT back for more regular service recently. They seemed shocked that I wanted an oil change while I waited, but they did it. It was not that busy. Price was decent. They now add 3% onto the bill for credit card use.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Repeat customer. I went here for an oil change and tire rotate and balance. Wait was not long, either. Nice folks.

We were in a pinch with an emergency brake not holding that we needed fixed asap. Carter & Sons was the first to (1) listen and (2) offer to take a look and see what they could do in a hurry. They were absolutely kind, professional, fair in pricing, and did a thorough and efficient job of exactly what we needed. Would NOT hesitate to use them and recommend them in the future!! Thank you!

This group of people are so experienced in working with the public and their experience with automobile is impeccable, I've been recommending them to people on my job. Fast but efficient, most of theparts are stocked on sight. Competitive prices. When I called Stokes Kia for an appointment for an oil change, the 1st available one was 1 month out. I called Carter & Sons and it was done the next day.Thank you

I've been going to Carter & Sons for a year now and they have become my go-to shop for many reasons. They do good work, they never try to upsell you, and if there's nothing wrong with you're car they'll tell you and let you be on your way. Honest, reliable, and quality are the 3 words I use to describe my shop. Can you say the same?

Had a misfire on my number four cylinder on my 2003 civic. Wanted to get it taken care of while I was at work. They charged me over $428 for four spark plugs and ONE ignition coil. Plus over an hour of labor for a 15 minute job. I should have just done it myself. This place will rip you off I do not recommend. They didn t even offer a veteran discount. They didn t spell my name right or get my phone number right. I d say complete incompetence from shop to front desk. Maybe they thought because I have a PA license plate they could take advantage of me. But I live here now .Service: Engine repair

I was referred by someone to come here and when I got there I was told by staff that they were to busy and to return at 2:00pm. I went home and got something s do. When I returned I was told that I was not able to get my oil changed at all that day. This would ve been my first service with you guys but I do not like the lack of communication.

I have had nothing but quality service and professionalism from all of Carter & Sons entire staff. I've sent many of my friends and relatives to them for all their auto needs and now My employer is sending it's fleet to them. I usually do not endorse a businesses but these guy's deserve the recognition. They are extremely polite and professional and also have a very timely turn around on your repair. Glad I found them, its impossible to find honest professionalism these days.

I don't usually write reviews but felt I needed to since it was the only way I could express myself. Carter and sons is a great business. They are very kind, quick, friendly. The reason for a 3 star is due to my personal experience with them. Most bad reviews come from a place of feeling cheated or hating the business. I assure you this is not coming from that as I have had time to reflect on what happened and I'm trying g to write a fair review.I took my vehicle in about a week ago for a coolant repair. They "fixed" it speedily and the price was just about what I expected. My wife and I are about to have our first kid any day now and needed our only car working good and as expected.After the repair (about a week later) we took a trip to Columbia and about got stranded because It was still leaking coolant and the car about over heated. I took it back to them recently and they were sympathetic but would not take even partial responsibility for it not working. They claimed that another part broke within a week of the other part they replaced. Now who actually knows what happened. It' very well could have been a new part that was working before or it could have not been. Either way they would not work with me or try and discount me even though I was experiencing the same issue of coolant leaking as the first tine I brought it in. At the least i dont feel i should have had to pay for labor again to fix this.They discounted me "$40" for coolant saying they would fill it for free but if you know anything about coolant it only cost 11 bucks for an entire gallon at auto zone and I had some in the back seat haha.I appreciate their efforts and will continue to do business with them but hope that my future experience with them will be a one and done situation instead of making me feel like I'm paying for their lack to ensure everything was good and having to keep coming back to fix the same issue. Seriously this place is frickin awesome. I just had a really bad experience with a mechanic. I trusted them they took advantage of my situation (on the road traveling needed help) on top of that they made things worse and when I took it back they wanted to charge me more to fix their problems. So I started calling around and I am Soooooo happy I found Carter and Sons!!! Not only did they get me in right away, but they gave me a great price and seemed to genuinely care. This is what taking your vehicle to a mechanic should feel like. You should have confidence in it. And Gene who worked on my truck was awesome! Seriously the dude genuinely cares and you can tell. Went above and beyond and also diagnosed my truck with skill. Can't sing his praise enough. Wouldn't even accept a 20$ tip. I highly recommend this place. I will Seriously drive out of my way to come here next time I need work done. Thank Carter and Sons! Life time customer here!

I have been going to Carter's for several years and my company uses them for our fleet maintenance as well. They are awesome! The service is superior, pricing is fair and I trust them! If Brian and his staff recommend something I know it needs to be done. I highly recommend Carter & Son's Auto Services!

Establishing a mechanic in a new area can be stressful and intimidating. Carter and sons provides exceptional service at a fair price. They ve helped me with my steering shaft, tie rods, ball joints, fan clutch, ac compressor, and more. No job is to big for them. Heather at the front desk is sweet, and always nice when you re talking on the phone with her, she can get an estimate fairly quickly too.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Wheel alignment, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

I had a trailer plug for my truck replaced today at this location. I arrived at 11:30 and left at 2 o clock. They had to get a new part delivered from Napa. The first part was incorrect. So, we waited patiently for the correct part to be delivered. The part was around 50 dollars and I was charged 220.00 for labor. I fell as though the labor cost was excessive due to the facts as stated above. If you have to have service done here, I hope your pockets are deep! God bless!Service: General repairs & maintenance

My mom tells me to only go here, so I only go here because they are trustworthy. They have a good reputation. Unless Brakes4less! Where the employee attacked me!I should have just went to Carter and Sons that day. Stay away from Brakes4Less. They are trashy and unprofessional.I will never cheat on Carter and Son's again.

From front to back the staff is awesome and so friendly. I didn't know what the problem was with my car and quickly they told me what was wrong and as quickly as they told me they fix it. I was back on the road. I will recommend anyone to Carter and Son's because they get the job done with a timely and professional manner . The price is reasonable as well.

Amazing.. Females if your a single woman and have the fear of being abuse by the other horrible Mechanic shops, Go to Carters and sons ... I promise you the reviews are real and they will get the job done for you right ... I will not take my car anywhere else .... I mean it AMAZING SERVICE, Amazing Staff ! They should be very happy of themselves because the work they put into the vehicles they fix shows and speak volumes about the pride they put into their work...... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Have had excellent service here twice so far, had a spark plug blow in an old Ford van, was told by other shops it would cost $600-$800 to repair. Carter & Son's repaired it for $200 including the coil pack. Also had an oil change on a Mercedes, have issues at other shops not putting enough oil in and not resetting the service monitor. They charged a very reasonable rate for a full synthetic oil change and did an excellent job.

I've been going here since 1988. Great family owned shop! Honest as they come. First met the Carter's when I was a State Trooper. They serviced the SCHP vehicles. That has to tell you something.

Always great service at Carter s. If you want good and honest service then this is the only place to go in Charleston. Service was fast. The people were really nice and courteous. Didn't push anything on me that I didn't need or couldn't afford. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back for all of my car needs.

Received an oil change, they didn't check my fluids because when I got home, my husband had to put water in my car, plus cleaned of the corrosion on my battery. I would think they would see it when the lift the hood. Wasn't happy.

This is a very nice business. I went in to have my car looked at and they were so nice. They even offered to have someone pick me up from work to come back to get my car. They were so nice. I will definitely be returning.
