I brought a Subaru Forester into this place late last fall. My car would stall after being driven for about ten miles. They charged me $400 and told me it was fixed. I went back three more times with the same issue. The last time Matt told everything was good to go the problem was fixed, but I needed back wheel bearings. Four trips and $400 later he told me it was definitely fixed just a little wire came unplugged. Good to go for sure. Because they couldn t fix my original problem, I took my car to dealership for my new issue. The dealer told me I did not need bearings, whoever told you this was trying to rip you off . My car stalled today with same problem that has been ongoing since October. I called and told them it was still not fixed and they were dishonest and not good at their job. His response was come here and say it to my face Classless and dishonest. Buyer beware!!!!

I had minor issues with my truck as well as needing regular scheduled maintenance and tire rotation . While the dealerships and some other places had a 1 week wait time just to make an appointment , John s Auto Clinic did the job same day with no appointment. Great quality work , the mechanic took the time to answer all my questions at pick up . Very reasonable prices . Highly recommend.

In July 2023, on my way to work, I heard my front brakes, metal to metal noise, coming from passenger front of my truck. I knew the company i worked for did business with John's auto clinic, and i dropped my truck off that morning and called the shop later in the morning when they were open, dropped off my keys, and told John that I thought the front brake line maybe the issue if the front rotor, passenger side was dug into. Evidently he got his wires crossed, i decided that the back brakes needed to be done, and that I didn't know what I was talking about because the front brakes were good. Saturday 2/162024, took the truck to Jones Ford for transmission service and oil change. They decided to rotate the tires to, that John's Auto Clinic installed, saying i had to many plugss in my tires for him to repair them and so he replaced them for me to.. That's twice since that my tires were off the truck since John's Auto Clinic did the front brakes i thought. Evidently John thought the back brakes were the only concern, and failed to mention that the work i thought needed to be done, requested to be done, wasn't worth doing. Jones Ford showed me the pads on the front brakes looked as if they may have been replaced, but the rotors were not, the passenger side rotor is eaten up.r really bad, meaning the passenger side brake line did need to be replaced, along with the rotors. I was charged nearly $500.00 for John to change the wrong brakes or i must of paid him nearly $500.00 to change my brake pads. Today I approached him 2/18/2024 before going to a doctor's appointment about this issue, and all i got was the back brakes to him wer the only thing and rotors needed to be changed. Previously before that, the tires were put in new just a few months earlier and there were no problems with the back brakes, rotors, or padss, and the person told me my back brakes still 50% of their life left, but he didn't think my front brakes were going to make it too much longer. 6 months later went to John's auto clinic and i know i told him what work needed to be done, that is the work i thought I was paying for, and seeing him today, he tells me the back brakes were done and they were the only brakes that needed to be done on my truck. THANK YOU JONES FORD FOR HELPING ME FIND THIS PROBLEM AND BEING HONEST ABOUT IT.

I went in bc I found a nail in my tire and they were kind enough to advise me on getting the best rate for a new tire to order directly. Once it arrived, they were able to get me in and out in 20mins. Both guys were kind, courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend this business!

This place caused me so many issues yesterday.I was selling a vehicle and the buyer asked if he could have it. Inspected at this shop. I am very mechanically inclined so The car has been well taken care of and kept up with. Also the shop that changes my oil thoroughly inspects it every oil change for any issues it might have, for the last five or six oil changes they have not found any type of issue with this car,so I felt there was no issue with allowing this particular shop to inspect it over for a buyer.I was asking $2700. The bluebook is anywhere from 2800 to 3500.I had it listed it below bluebook. The car has less than 160000 miles on it . The engine and transmission runs great. The suspension is in good shape. clean interior, nice exterior no dents,No alignment issues , No fluid leaks.Strong AC and heat .everything on the car works. Also The car has no major issues that would require any attention anytime soon.not to mention the car also has new brakes, new rotors, new wheel bearing ,has been extremely reliable never broken down on the road. Everything has been well-maintained as well.only thing the car was gonna be need in the near future was a couple new tires within the next six months or so.only other issue worth noting was a couple lights on the dash that we re staying on after already having the problems corrected.so with all of this information about the car, I know this vehicle is at very sound especially when it s priced under bluebook value. However, whatever this mechanic told my potential buyer, had my buyer thinking this car was about to explode when he turned the key.I was astonished to hear that it did not pass his inspection .. considering most of the time when you buy a car under $3000 you are bound to find a barrage of major issues which this car did not have. now I would not be upset with the Mechanic for doing a presale inspection or if he had just told the kid not to buy my car, or if he had told the buyer his opinion on the condition but what pisses me off is he told the buyer to offer me a lowball insulting price to me that was extremely unprofessional and to be , which is the reason I m typing this review.to be honest i would ve rather had the kid tell me he wasn t interested over him telling me that his mechanic said to offer this ridiculously low price. even if he didn t feel this car was perfect in his opinion. to tell the kid to lowball me was absurd.I at least know that the car is mechanically sound.considering the mechanic I take my car to that inspects my car andtells me this car does not have any issues that need to be dealt with recently, then i make the mistake of going to this reeree which says whatever he said to degrade my car without being at the very least rational about the pros and cons .it kind of tells me that this guy either exaggerates a lot or he doesn t know what he s doing at all.before going here I had no idea this place even existed and at first. I was thinking. Hey this might be a good place to bring my car if i have an issue that i can t quite handle on my own since I live on the island and it s close by. but I learned a very valuable lesson to just keep assuming this place doesn t exist at all!! I don t know what this guy said to my buyer nor do I even care to know all I know is whatever he said to him was far exaggerated and made the kid miss out on a really good deal on a reliable car, so how could I ever trust somebody like this to work on my vehicle without trying to bs me .no telling honestly I don t think anybody should trust this guy either . it was upsetting when I found out this guy told my buyer to lowball me simply rather than just saying whether he should buy it or not.caused me a bunch of issues that wasted my time.but on the bright side. I had another buyer that already came look at it with his mechanic and his mechanic said everything is solid for the price go figure.so I don t know what planet this dunce is on perhaps it was a power trip or something .either way I do not plan on ever going here again and you shouldn t neither.big mistake!!!!

Had my car towed there almost 3 weeks ago and it was never looked at. My car sat outside for almost 3 weeks with no phone calls from this shop. I called atleast twice a week to see if they had a chance to look at it so I would know what is wrong with my car and kept getting told that they are extremely busy and they would get to it in a couple days. I was told the same thing each time i called. The last time I called I was told that my car was being looked at right then and I would get a phone call when they were done looking at it. I waited two days and called them I was told by another person that my car had not been looked at and it was still sitting outside. The owner of the shop lied to me and told me that it was being looked at and it wasn t. My husband drove down there and confronted him about this and he said that he was busy and hadn t had the chance to look at the car. 3 WEEKS and nothing was done. Ridiculous! No phone calls at all to let me know what was going on. I spent $100 to have it towed to them and not once did they say it will be sitting for a long time before we can tell you what s wrong with it, never said anything to me about being too busy to look at it and to top it off said that if it needs an engine he won t put it in so why is my car here then? Bottom line this guy doesn t want to do anything more than an oil change or simple brake job. I do NOT recommend this place. STAY AWAY from this sorry excuse for a mechanic. No customer service and has one excuse after another. I had my car towed again to a place that will fix it! Terrible experience. I have NEVER had this happen before. HORRIBLE, NO EXCUSE for the way we were treated. Honesty is the best policy. IF you don t want to do it then say you don t want to do it. Don t have me tow my car to you just so it can collect dust and make people mad. The only thing I can say its a good thing my husband didn t need the car for work.

My wife s Honda CRV had the check engine light come on. I brought the car to John s Auto Clinic yesterday as a first time customer. The car was ready to pick up today, less than 24 hours later. John said the problem was an easy fix and refused to charge me. He just gained a customer for life. If you re tired of getting overcharged by dealerships for repairs, come here. This is the first fair mechanic I ve ever met after exclusively repairing my cars at dealerships for the past 15 years.

I've been here several times and very pleased. They have done my Radiator, brakes, rotors, replaced an o ring from my oil pan that was missing, oil change and something else that was a faulty factory part the car was made with that almost cost me my engine (pressurized leak). They're super nice and I have my car back in a couple of days. They don't try to rip you off either. My dad told me to put my car in the shop and fix ANYTHING that needed replaced soon and he would pay for it, 3 things that's all I needed. I won't go anywhere else while I'm living here in Charleston. Thank you guys again!Services: Brakes, Oil change

Just found this gem on John's Island! The 2 guys there were great, one was John. Had my radiator and upper hose replaced. They had it fixed same day. Good price, service, and people. This reminds me of the shop I used back home. I went there for the same reasons. I will be using them for any future car services and I will be recommending them. I'd give you guys ten stars if I could. My boyfriend is going out of town for a week and we have kids, now I don't have to be without a car. Thanks so much for your service!

I have never had a positive experience at an auto shop- but I started to go to John's Auto Clinic and I cannot say enough positive things about them! They have exceeded my expectations in customer service, knowledge, price, time, and overall quality of the numerous repairs I've had there. For one issue, I was not even charged!!! If I could give 10 stars, I would! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND John's Auto Clinic.

Just moved to Johns Island recently, heard some noise from my brakes and knew they needed to be replaced. Was I ever lucky to run across John's Auto Clinic...I was able to get my SUV in the same day, have looked over, discovered an engine mount also broken and they were upfront with me about what was wrong, they provided me with a reasonable cost estimate and then repaired everything exactly as described. I recommend them to family, friends and anyone else looking for a trustworthy auto repair shop! Quality of work was exceptional and well within the original estimate. They have my trust and future business!

5 stars isn t enough. I went to two other big box tire shops - never again. Only because I thought they were more conveniently located - they weren t. Had a slow leak in my tire and no one at those places would even look at it. 2-4 hour wait to fix it is what they said. How did they know? They didn t even look at it. I went to Johns. When I pulled in he could tell I was frustrated - as I needed to get this done before I headed out of town for the weekend. He stopped what he was doing. Jacked the car up, took the wheel off, found the screw and patched the tire in about 4 minutes. Here s the best part - went to pay with a credit card. He said no credit cards for less than $100. I said we ll charge me $100, it s worth that to me. He said don t be silly, just bring the money by when you can. So I ran home (approximately 7 minutes away) and got cash and brought it right back to him. Because he was so busy that day, he will probably never remember that interaction with me, but I will never forget it. Thanks John.Service: Tires

Reviewed issues with old truck over phone. Was told if I had it towed in, they could fix it. I called 3 days later only to find out he decided the job was beyond his abilities and he no longer wanted to fix the truck. If you need anything more advanced than turning bolts, go elsewhere.**update: this truck was safely fixed at a more capable and willing local shop for less than $500 within a couple days, runs like a champ, needed a relay and some terminals cleaned

A shout out to John for saving our vacation when our truck decided to dump its power steering fluid the day before we had to leave the island. Not only did he not hesitate to tell us to bring it in but they had us back on the road in a matter of a few hours. Pricing was more than reasonable for the repair and turn around time. John, thank you again!

Made a call after hours on a Sunday to see if they would be able to replace my Jeep's spark pugs. I received a call back that evening and was told to drop the jeep off in the morning. I picked the Jeep back up before 5 pm same day ready to go and for a reasonable price. I recommend them!

I called politely and gave a quick detailed briefing about my tire just needing a replacement. I gave the explanation and after asking if he could help he said no very rudely with no words afterwards and just a long silence of awkwardness. I decided to hang up after the rudeness that followed that silence and he called back to begin being more rude, and even called back just to hang up on me. Someone s having a bad day and it wasn t me. 0/10. From a business owner myself.Edit for his response. Rudely saying No after a brief description of what I was looking to fix and then not say what the reasoning is and staying silent was rude and uncalled for. This man then decided to call me back a couple times being more than rude, including him hanging up on me.(incredibly unprofessional and childish)If you are looking for professionalism. It is not here. Have a blessed day.

New to town, had a flat tire and was looking for somewhere local to establish a relationship for future car needs. SO glad I called John! He got me right in, got a tire ordered for next day, and even stayed open late so I could make it after work for installation! Will definitely be using John s Auto Clinic again!

Very solid little shop hidden a bit off the road off Maybank Highway. John jumped on sealing a nail hole in my tire as soon as I pulled up , even though he was elbows deep in another job. I was in and out in 20 minutes, very fair pricing. support these guys!!Service: TiresService: Tires

I left my car yesterday morning at the garage asking them if they would check out a noise that the car was making that was coming from the front end tires. When I went to pick it up, they had fixed it and didn t charge me a dime! I am so thankful for this place and the help they gave me! A true blessing!

Got 1.3k in work done by these guys including a new radiator and hoses (and some other things). 2 days later hoses leaking...just needed to be tightened down by me but still...incomplete job nonetheless. Anyways about 1.5 months later I find myself in Arizona for work staring down a 2k+ mile trip back home when I walk out to my car and find a pool of leaking coolant. Well...its 2:30 pm in Arizona (5 30 charleston). Johns auto is closed so have no way of getting him and, like I said am facing a trip back that has to be started by the next morning. So what do I do, I go get it looked at. Turns out radiator was leaking like a stuck pig. Had to be replaced. Called Johns as soon as I got back on the east coast (few days later and due to easter weekend there was no point in trying to get ahold of anyone). Politely explained the situation and how I was essentially stuck out there with my hands tied. Only response was "shoulda called me". AGAIN explained I called him and got no answer and reiterated the bind I was in. Even hauled the bad radiator he put in all the way back to show him the leak of he wanted to pressure test it. Absolutely no help. Not willing to help out at all, even if it was just refund the $130 for the radiator itself. I mean come on, be understanding and helpful...No need to be a jerk for no reason.
