I had an agreement with Jim Brady to purchase a 70 Chevelle where he would perform a manual transmission conversion within 3 weeks of car purchase. I paid him 50% of the conversion cost to gather parts. When the 3 weeks were up, I got nothing but excuses as to why he did not meet our agreement. After waiting a total 4 months, I decided I would have someone else do the conversion. Brady wanted to charge me more than the 50% I already paid him to provide the conversion parts. We all know that parts for a job like this are approx 30% of the total cost. Brady felt it appropriate to try to over charge me for the conversion parts. The Chevelle I bought is a numbers matching, restored to factory specs car. I asked Brady several times if converting this car would hurt its value. Each time he said it would not. Every person knowledgeable on classic cars that I have asked this same question since buying the car has said not to make any changes. And that sure makes sense to me.The lesson here is BEWARE of anything Jim Brady tells you related to making a sale. Based on my experience, he is not trust worthy.
