Thought I give this business a chance since the majority of the reviews were positive. I called and shared what was going on with my vehicle and they said to bring it in and they could look at it and diagnose it. I dropped it off mid morning and checked back around 2:30 and they said they were busy and couldn t work it in. No problem. I completely understand the week before Christmas it s probably crazy and staff is short. I was told they would pull it in first thing next day so I agreed to leave it overnight. Next morning , I didn t hear from them so I called around noon. The lady told me they had an issue with a vehicle stuck in lift but they were about to pull in and she would call me back after lunch. It s 3:30pm, and no word so I get a ride up there and guy tells me they hadn t had time to pull it inI get it, you re slammed but at least be up front and not waste 2 days of me waiting around for nothing. The perfect example of over promising and under delivering! I didn t fuss there and just told them I ll take the truck. However, I don t want to waste your time so don t waste mine. Hopefully, more training will benefit this company.

worst experience with an auto mechanic shop I have ever had!!! I recently went to Dowdy's for issues with the heater in my car they advised I replace the thermostat. They replaced it to tune of $599 and the heater still didn't work. A week later my check engine light comes on, so I took my car to Auto Zone and had them plug it in Thermostat error. Back to Dowdy's they did replace the thermostat at no cost, but still no heat. then they wanted to replace the heater core for $1800 at that point I said no I'm getting a second opinion. I took it to a different mechanic who did a thorough diagnostic and determined it was the actuator. Glad I didn't fork out another $1800 because the problem still wouldn't be fixed.

As stated in another review, "I have found my shop for life!". Very pleasant experience. Kind, courteous, and knowledgeable staff. Would definitely refer to my friends and family. Honest and genuine. Brittney and Nick are such a pleasure to work with.

Had my neutral safety switch replaced. Afterwards, my high beams wouldn't turn off. This issue was not present before taking it to them. They refused to fix their mistake and wanted to fix it for 600 bucks. I took my car over to another mechanic, and they fixed it for free.Prior, I had a BMW with an engine issue, I paid over 3000 dollars for them to fix it over multiple instances when the issue wasnt fixed, and the issue was never resolved. That car is now dead.I feel scammed. I'm never giving this shop by business again. Buyer beware. They may sucker you too.

Stopped in and got a oil change on my audi while i was in town, I live in Nampa Id and i know there are some close shops to me but i will only be going to Dowdys in Ontario from now on great customer service from Brittnee and Nick even showed me I had a bad air filter so we got it replaced.

Usually have a positive experience here but this last time not so much! Made an appointment a week ahead and dropped vehicle off , 5 hours later had to call to see if they were done only to find they hadn't even started,( problem with another car), called 2 hours later, since no one would call me, to find they just started but would be done by closing! Then one hour later was called because they got the wrong part, so now had to wait till next day! This is our only vehicle, left stranded had to call other places we had appointments to reschedule!! What upsets me the most,A, had appointment so you would expect it to be worked on then, B, no one took the time to call us, we had to call!! We have been coming here for 5 years but now rethinking about ever having work done here again! Was happy that manager apologized and gave small discount but still this should not have happened in first place!

So far my car is doing good after the work they did. Only been one week so we shall see as time goes on. They got me in fast and found the problem quickly. Very friendly customer service.

The service was fast and well done. They were very easy to work with. Communication was wonderful. It is great to know that service with a smile. at reasonable prices is still available. We will be using their services in the future should the need arise. We will gladly recommend them to our friends.

I called last week with an issue with my vehicle, spoke with Brittney and she was so helpful. She actually helped me fix my car over the phone. I know that if I have any problems in the future I will be bringing them to Dowdys.

Dowdy's Ontario really came through for me and my dad, who is driving my heavily modified BMW from Oregon to Nebraska for me. About 40mi out from Ontario the front air suspension gave out. Dowdy's was able to get front struts in and sort out the rear air system so my dad could be back on the road in about 24 hrs. Very grateful for Nick and the team out there!Services: Steering & suspension repair, Steering & suspension replacement

I am super impressed with these guys. I had had horrible experiences at a 2 different auto repair shops and was pretty leery about trying another but I m so glad I listened to the reviews and went with Dowdy s. They have wonderful customer service. Joey explained what the issue was and how much it would cost before they started the repair, which I really appreciated. He told about a few other issues that should be taken care of in the near future and didn t pressure me at all. I called them on Friday, they agreed to squeeze me in on Monday and my car was ready Monday afternoon. They are courteous, knowledgeable and best of all truthful with fair prices. Thank you guys so very much for saving me from a blown motor!! I cannot say enough about how great they are!!

This place is really amazing. My car was shutting down every mile with reduce engine power, they were able to fix it and fix my thermostat now my car has air conditioning this hot summer. And there oil change price is quite cheap compared to other places. Highly recommend this place

Very nice business! Joey was the one to take my requests and call me back. He explained everything and answered all my questions. I feel i got a quality service for a great price. I asked for oil change and servicing but they went beyond that and even checked the brain box despite not being a mini dealership. That's not to say they can fix those kind of issues but they are at least willing to look at it.Service: Auto maintenance

I took my VW in with a check engine light to the Ontario shop. $2800 later it still burns brightly. I called them snd they said they would get back to me. I have heard nothing. I cannot recommend this business as they have no done what I took my car in for.

So, it was good and bad. Customer service was great, they all had good attitudes and got the job done for what I needed and repair on my vehicle was good and no issues.The bad...i had recently detailed my vehicle and I cleaned and wiped down all the door frames and everything...i can only guess someone sneezed into their hand and wiped a lot of snot and boogers all over the door frame of my vehicle which I did not appreciate and I do know for a fact it was not there prior to me bringing my vehicle there.That wasnt that big a deal since it was easy to clean off...however...the mechanic that did the repair on my vehicle left a 16" prybar and a wrench on top on my engine...I drove for 2 hours...on the interstate and started to hear a rattle under my hood and stopped on the side of the road which is when I discovered they tools just laying ontop of my engine..This could have potentially caused my vehicle damage, destruction or even a bad accident..I actually stopped for the night after that because i was honestly dumbfounded and extremely angry that this was just left behind and the hood closed...my vehicle was also driven around to test it out after repair and parked in the parking lot for me...yet the tools were still there several hours later until I heard them...under the hood.I was only passing through the area and had a bad heater hose fitting that needed replaced, repair was good and customer service but as for the other things...dont think I would be a return customer after this experience anytime in the future..Service: Engine repair

Have been taking all of my cars here for many years. They do a great job and trustworthy and honest. The prices are fair and better then most places and they are great at what they do. Highly recommend for all vehicle owners.Update- 2023 I do NOT recommend taking your car here, I had brake work done and after a year they had to redo them and 5 months later my brakes have to be replaced and they are refusing to refund or do what's right.

I LOVE this shop! They are so reasonable, knowledgeable, and very kind. I've had regular service done as well as repairs. They managed to repair an oil leak (so slight it never dripped but you could smell it when it was hot) that the dealer said was just a quirk of that model. They later recalled it for that problem but we had over 100k on the odometer and were excluded. At Dowdy's they mentioned it after a service appointment and fixed it the following week! I can't believe it. Another time I had a fuse that kept blowing and he warned me electrical problems can get expensive just for the labor trying to diagnose it. I agreed and they could have easily tacked on extra labor but instead just charged me the original price for just the inspection/diagnosis. Besides the magic tricks, they are the nicest people. They listen really well which is so important for car repairs, so I always feel confident they know what the problem is. I'm grateful I found such a great garage right here in town!

We took them a car we were considering buying for an inspection. It was Well worth the $130! It saved us buying a car for over $6,000 that was being misrepresented as having been in no accidents. In fact it had been in two, front & rear. Dowdy's took pictures of the evidence & other defects & showed us so that we could make an informed decision about the car. These guys really stepped up. We had some work done a few months ago and the recently a belt broke. They got us back to the shop diagnosed and repaired the problem that same day. It was after closing when they finished. We are eternally grateful. They went above and beyond any other shop I have ever worked with in the past. These guys are real superstars. You have earned a return customer. Thank you Dowdy's.

Sadly, my SUV died on the freeway an hour from my home. I called numerous shops and was told I could not have my car towed there because it would be weeks before they could look at it. I came across Dowdys and after telling my story, and although they were busy, he said to bring it in and they would be able to get to it in a few days. I was so relieved!Unfortunately, as I suspected, my engine had blown, confirmed by them the very next day. Joey, not only found a solution for me for a pick part place where I could get at least a little money for the car, he called around to make sure it was the best deal. And helped arrange the transaction.I just could not believe Joey would help so much, I don't live in the area, so had no idea what to do, he took care of it for me. I would use them 100% if I lived near there. Thank you Joey and Dowdy's for your quick help, even though you didn't need to help diagnosis so quick, and your over the top help!

They got my car in and out quickly. The cost was exactly what was estimated, and it was reasonable. The guys were friendly and understanding of my situation (a breakdown far from home). The parts have a nationwide warranty. Overall, a great experience that made a difficult time much easier. Thank you, Dowdy's.
