This new review on April 8 ,2024 is an addition to a second repair on my 1994 Silverado .Again, I am pleased on how Scott, who is the owner of Astoria Aamco, serviced my truck that had issues with the Idle Air Control Valve , engine timing and Fuel Pressure Regulator.I had an issue smelling fuel coming from my motor and Scott nailed it. The repairs were spot on and I no longer smell fuel. Scott has a honest reputation with his customers and won't sell you something you don't need on your vehicle. Scott will show you the old parts he took off your vehicle upon request. That is awesome!!I don't trust any other auto technician in Astoria , Oregon other than Scott to work on my classic 1994 Chevy Silverado.Thank you Scott. Astoria appreciates you!!I am very happy with my visit in March 2024 with repairs Scott made to my 1994 Chevy Silverado truck.Scott has many years of experience and is knowledgeable when it comes to repairs.Scott replaced my radiator with hoses and Scott located a radiator for a lesser price. Scott is very friendly and he runs a honest business in Astoria, Oregon. The repairs were done right and I got my truck back in a timely manner. I appreciate Scott for his help.Thank you buddy.

My car had an issue when I was on vacation. Scott seemed to be very knowledgeable and kind. I was told that my car couldn't be fixed because the part wasn't available. So I had my car towed 1000 miles away to southern California. It cost $2000.00 to tow it that far. After I got it home, Honda told me it's a busted transmission pan and the same day my car was back in the road. Scott obviously never looked at my car. His laziness cost me $ 2k.

On a road trip I had car problems and headed up north to this shop. The gentleman working there came outside and really looked in detail and then researched what was likely the problem. My situation forced me to chance it and head farther north to a Subaru Dealer. Turned out the gentleman in the Astoria shop was correct. It was a particular part that needed replacing. It was kind the man at the AAMCO to take his time to give me an estimate and look over my situation. I really should have tipped the guy, but I was racing against time to get up to my destination. Thought I should at least write a review recommending this place. Being in this shop felt like something out of a 1970's action movie, something fiercely retro that spares pleasantries and reminds you that you are in a place will give you quality.

Scott at aamco will skillfully repair your vehicle for fair market price, and offer you any extra value possible, but mostly will be completely upfront and honest about your condition.

Scott, where to begin on this guy. He is the owner of this establishment and when I first spoke to him on the phone I knew right off the bat that I found my mechanic to work on my car! This man is straight to the point as it gets. He tells you exactly what is going on with the vehicle and what is needed to fix it. He was busy with 3 other transmission jobs when I brought my car in to have my transmission replaced and he still got it done within the week! One of the things I love most is his uncompromising standards when it comes to getting the job done right the first time. If the man tells you that you need another part to be replaced while he has everything torn down. Buy the part and get it replaced, even if it's not related to the issue you're having. It's much less expensive in the long run to get that wear and tear part replaced while you're in there already. Tim the mechanic is a great guy as well. He was a joy to talk to and is very personable. He did a wonderful job replacing my transmission and all of my problems are solved. I would completely trust these gentlemen with any vehicle I own. Scott just called me after having the car back for the weekend and asked if everything was working well and inquired if I wanted the old transmission. You can't get better customer service than that!Service: Transmission

I brought my son's Mustang initially for just transmission service, but realized very quickly that the owner and head mechanic, Scott, was someone I could trust and who would do great work. We ended up fixing everything that needed repair on the car for an amazing price, expert workmanship, and delivered when promised. When you talk to Scott, he inspires confidence and trust. I wouldn't take my cars anywhere else.

Scott did a great job on my 1999 Lincoln Town car. He is trustworthy. He got my car ready to drive again after a year off due to the pandemic. Highly recommend his work.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil changeServices: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

My Alternator went out on my Lexus LS400 30 minutes from Astoria. I towed it to AAMCO as I knew they were a chain and I could take it to a more local (to my house) AAMCO should the solution not work. They guy at the desk, Xander, stayed late to meet me and check my car in which was much appreciated. He quoted me an estimated price and I would need to wait for the technician to be in on Monday, unfortunately, but not uncommon.Pros: friendly service, and so far quality work. Fair prices for labor. Willing to be reasonable when asked for discounts. 12 month warranty.Cons: Estimates are a bit off. Understandable to be off a little, but seem to have large variance on hours of labor required.Service: Is friendly. I am used to unsolicited updates from my mechanic (also a chain) and more accurate estimates but they did match my best experience for friendly and honest service especially when a less reputable mechanic could take advantage of my situation as a vacationer.All-in-all, a positive experience though not the cheapest, but they warranty their work for 12 months. Nothing beats your own mechanic of course, but I would take my car back there again should I need work in Astoria.

Scott is a pretty honest mechanic and he's definitely turned the place around. He will not only help you figure out the problem. He won't do anything to the vehicle unless you specifically request it. So no hidden work orders you get stuck to your bill. It's a little spendy but I've been trusting him with my cars for a few years now. He'll also show you things that were replaced which I appreciate.

We got stuck in Astoria last week on our vacation because there was a part of our car that stopped working that we needed to get fixed before our 12 hour drive home. We looked at several car shops before choosing AAMCO. My wife and I are both thoroughly impressed by not only the speed and quality service that we were given in a timely manner, but also with how likable the mechanic was. I am so glad that we chose to go here for our repair. If you ever need a repair, AAMCO is the place to go.

Scott, the new owner, treated us very well. We were traveling from Colorado on vacation when our fuel pump went out. The tow driver recommended Aamco and said it was under new management. We spoke with Scott and explained we were on vacation and stranded. He had our car finished within two business days. He even gave our puppy a treat when we walked from our hotel to pick up the car. We couldn't be happier with the service we received here.

A vehicle I just bought started having transmission issues while I was in Astoria so I pulled in at AAMCO. Drew was very helpful, and gave a bid on the fix. A friend who was with me needed to be at the Portland airport that day so we rented a car and left mine at AAMCO. Drew took a closer look at the vehicle and was very honest with me that in his opinion the cost of all the repairs it needed didnt make sense based on the value of the vehicle. So I am having it towed back and the seller has agreed to refund my money and take the car back. Drew didn't charge me a penny for looking at the car, or for letting me park it there for a week until I could get it back home. I really appreciated Drew's honesty and advice and would recommend AAMCO! Thanks, Drew and crew!

Amazing in ever aspect. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and more than willing to show and explain everything that was wrong. They worked with me to get the car fixed quickly, and were totally cool with using parts I had already purchased when I was determined to do the job myself. These guys aren't your average repair shop. They'll do what they can to help you save money, and get back on the road. I will definitely be returning with any other issues I may encounter with my car.Thank you, and well done guys.

We're on a long road trip and our RV developed a transmission problem. Scott helped us out right away. His guys quickly fixed the problem but that revealed a serious issue with the speedometer. They worked many hours to diagnose that and it turns out it can only be fixed by a Ford dealer. Scott hooked us up with one and then only charged us for the transmission fix. He didn't charge us for all the other work because he couldn't fix the problem. We could not recommend Scott and his business more highly!

So I had some trouble with a van I had just bought and was totally stumped. The thing would start and run but not go over about 20mph. I ended up folding and having Scott look at it and I am very glad I did. He saved me hundred and hundreds of dollars and had me in and out quickly. Highly recommend his services.

My daughter and I went to visit myGrand parents at the condos and didn t realize they left earlier than we planned to it was late and slept in our truck for a few hours and the battery had died , so my daughter walked across the street and asked for a jump and the older guy looked right at her and said are you the homeless that stayed here last night ? So with that being said we went down the road to get my truck fixed !! Such an ugly attitude for absolutely no reason !Service: Battery

Scott, the owner, was great! After hours...he helped me out, a blown radiator hose...in 5 minutes he had the parts on the way, saying meet him at 8pm the next morning.I was staying at the Hampton, right across the parking lot from his AAMCO garage! What luck! Thank you Scott. No problems the rest of my trip, down the coast and back to Idaho.

While traveling through Astoria, I had an issue with an rv that would only start intermittently, and a cell phone lost inside a crevice. Scott looked it over first thing in the morning and had me on my way in minutes. Five star service all day.Service: ElectricalService: Electrical

We took our F350 Diesel in to have the transmission checked after a summer of camping and towing our trailer, just to make sure we were ok for the winter. They were friendly and out going. The service writer listen and took notes and was very engaged with what we had to say. Although the issue is not something they can fix for us they were still very nice to work with and very straight forward about the issue was. I feel like they listened to us. I will definitely take my other vehicles there in the future.

Had what we felt was a transmission issue while on vacation so we stopped in at Aamco in Astoria, Oregon. Drew took a look and test drove our car, then gave us some suggestions for what the real problem might be. This all took at least half an hour of his time- and he did not charge us at all. Very good suggestions and awesome service. Super impressed!

I would just like to say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!. The best customer service this side of the Mississippi, trust me I know. I have taken many cars to the other shops around Astoria and Longbeach to no avail they hiked up prices and did shady work to say the least. At AAMCO you will get grade A care and honest and reliable, reasonable auto care. I can't express enough how wonderful this experience was for me. The price was right and the service was impeccable. Thank you Zander for a phenomenal job. AAMCO is lucky to have you as there representative . You have a loyal customer from this day forward.

Worst customer experience I've ever had! They had my car for nearly 3 months to replace a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, work that should have taken no more than a week. When I would call the shop to get an update I was repeatedly told "just a couple more days." When I contacted AAMCO to see if they would rectify the situation they basically told me to pound sand. Stay away from AAMCO unless you want your commandeered for a quarter of a year!

I went to AAMCO for diagnostics & to have them look at the transmission in my 03 VW gti when it stopped engaging into reverse. I first took it to another shop where they charged me $35 to tell me it needed a completely new transmission, & it couldn't be rebuilt, but they didn't give me much more info than that. They seemed pushy to me so I wanted a second opinion. I dropped into AAMCO & they got me in for a 'multi point inspection' & their tech got the car to go into reverse!! I couldn't believe it. I then purchased a drain & fill of the ATF & had them replace the solenoid that was bad. This was MUCH cheaper than a completely new transmission would have been in parts alone. As someone who doesn't know much about cars it can be intimidating to take my car to a new shop, especially when it seems there are so many places out there just trying to make a buck. The techs at AAMCO were so efficient & definitely know something the last guys didn't! Dan their service writer was so patient with me & made sure I knew all the details & costs beforehand. I will be returning to AAMCO for all my car needs, even oil changes. Supporting family-owned local business from people who care.

Called to get a quote on a simple fix for a 2011 chevy Cruze, knowing the problem and hearing other quotes this place was a joke, whomever answered your phone wants no business. I needed someone to put a purge valve canister in that takes maybe a half hour and was quoted $200.00 getting it done for $47.50 stay away from this place and thanks for the price gauging quote. Will not recommend your mechanic name to ANYONE. Unbelievable.Turns out it was such a simple easy fix that the guy that did it didn't even charge me.Won't be bringing any of my cars to you guys.

Dan has worked several hours past close to fix my POS truck over the last couple of days. I have nothing but positive things to say about him. I saw that a lot of people are complaining about AAMCO on this page, but I think that those people do not understand the challenges that an auto shop faces on the coast: mechanic staff are limited to a few people, parts can be hard to come by, and most people drive older vehicles out here. Dan's customer service skills could use some work, but that isn't his fault. He's a one man show sometimes, and AAMCO should hire a dedicated customer service person! Otherwise this guy is doing several jobs at once which is quite difficult. If you want good service done right, Dan is the man.

I honestly and whole hardheartedly recommend the Astoria OR Aamco to anyone looking to get their moneys worth with confidence and quality work done correctly by trained master certified technicians, that are kept up to date with the changes. Dan, the Operations / Service Mgr, along with his crew, went above and beyond all expectations for us. Our vehicle had broken down in Puyallup WA. Oct 30, 2016. We had called ahead for the work, made arrangements to have a (heavy duty rebuild) done on our 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 transmission. We were quoted 5 days. Little to say, we were told it was finally done 4 weeks later, picked it up and it broke down again within 2 days. This time I was able to bring it into my hometown Aamco in Astoria, OR. The service, care and concern Dan and his crew took to figure out what the problems were with our transmission, was beyond what any other business would probably have done. They worked tirelessly to figue out and correct the careless mistakes on the other shops behalf, kept us constantly updated and reassured us that they would figure out what the issue was. They kept their word and finally, after 4 1/2 total months, the truck was completed. The transmission runs perfect! Its nice to know there are still people out there that believe in doing things right the first time and would go that extra mile. I have since learned that each Aamco is run independently. You would be wise to call for advice or stop in at the Astoria Shop, you won't be disappointed.

Stop by to get basic advice on my transmission. Left wishing that he had a place in Portland where I live. If I lived in Astoria this guy would be my mechanic.

Excellent job! Had the dealer tell me I needed a 7500 transmission, towed to Aamco of Astoria and they checked it free. Turned out to be a electronic sensor issue. Fixed less then 500.00. thanks to Dan and his awesome team.

Catastrophic failure of my driver side wheel bearing as we are on our way for vacation. Dan and team got me back on the road the same day. Quoted me a price before work was started and gave me visual proof of the problems. Paid market price imo and came away with a good customer experience. Recommend

My mechanic on the Long Beach Peninsula recommended me to Aamco in Astoria as he doesn't work on transmissions. They were diligent from the very beginning, not to mention, very polite & friendly-true professionals. And they undercharged me this first visit! Love Xander & Rich-the owner did a great job hiring these guys! Thanks again :)
