Been here two Spring Breaks in a row. It s clean and nice. Family and pet friendly space right on the beach. Pets not allowed on the beach. Bring jackets and your own blankets for extra comfort. Nice place to visit the Outer Banks of NC. Also can make a trip to VA Beach which was also nice!Safety: Clean and safe!Walkability: Walk to beach. Has golf carts available for rent.

We stayed for 3 weekend days and 2 nights in Feb 2024. Kid friendly. It's cold but we still get to play in the beach. The KOA playground and pillow is our kids' favorite. We watched the sunrise and sunset. Boardgames at the KOA office. The KOA staff are so kind and accomodating. We forgot some items, Dollar general is half a mile away. For our baby items, we went to the nearby Food Lion. Ocean's Bistro gave us a NC hospitality food and feel. We loved our stay.Walkability: The beach front is an easy walk, very close to the camp site. It is wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms are clean. There are showers by the beach front.

Location is awesome, it deserves 5 stars for that. We were there during off season, so no nearby restaurants were open. We happened to be there during some bad weather, including a tornado watch. Thankfully it never got too serious, but for not living in areas with tornadoes, it would have been helpful to receive a text with information about where safe places were nearby if we needed to go somewhere. Yes, we could have figured it out on our own, but as a guest of KOA, it would have been appreciated to have been contacted.

"RV Camping, Dobermans, Beach, Waves, Campfires, Night Sky"Excellent KOA location and beach access. The staff were super friendly, grounds were clean and organized, food was very good, and lots of activities. Highly recommend and will plan to return.A big Thank You to my friends and family for a wonderful short RV camping trip to Cape Hatteras during November 2023.

Beautiful location. Probably the best in Buxton. Simple, comfortable accommodation right on the beach. You pay for the location. You can hear the ocean at night. Beautiful sun rise. Accommodations can use some upgrades but owners really care about making their guests comfortable and happy. I love the place! Very friendly and accommodating owners. Maybe it due to being so close to the ocean but the water supply has a weird smell and taste. So bottled drinking water is recommended. But you cant beat the location.

Pet FRIENDLY.I am not a camper but I'm not sure KOA is camping. Seems way easier than that. Actually saw very few tents. I can only remember one. My deluxe cabin was very nice. 2 TVs. Fridge, microwave. My bed in separate bedroom was large and comfortable. This is an impressive complex. Place is huge. Went with relatives and they were already there when I arrived so never went into main lodge. Looked like there was a nice pool. Playground for the younguns if you need one. Beach access on one end. Cross the busy road and you can view some incredible sunsets. I was thoroughly impressed.Rooms: Deluxe Cabins are nice

Our recent stay at the Ocean Front Cape Hatteras KOA was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning views and the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore. This campground truly embodies the essence of a coastal paradise. The location of this KOA is unbeatable, offering direct access to the pristine beach and breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The amenities and facilities were top-notch. Campsites were spacious and well-maintained, and cabins made my stay comfortable in cold weather and chilly ocean breezes. The friendly and helpful staff went above and beyond to making us feel welcomed and appreciated. The communal areas were inviting and well-designed, featuring a beautiful pool area, picnic spots, and a cozy camp store stocked with essentials and delightful souvenirs. The clean bathrooms were a pleasant surprise, offering hot showers and clean facilities. One of the highlights of my stay was the mesmerizing sunsets. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, was a truly magical experience. I also enjoyed stargazing by the campfire, a serene activity made even more memorable by the sound of the ocean in the background.Cape Hatteras KOA offers a range of activities for everyone. From beach walks to hiking trails, there's no shortage of things to do. The nearby attractions, including the iconic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, provided a glimpse into the rich history and natural beauty of the Outer Banks. In summary, my stay at the Ocean Front Cape Hatteras KOA was an unforgettable experience. The stunning location, exceptional amenities, and warm hospitality exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait to return to this coastal paradise and create more cherished memories by the sea. Highly recommended to fellow travelers seeking a slice of oceanfront bliss. However, I was disappointed to find that the campground lacked readily available edible facilities with complimentary tea or coffeefor 24/7, for a traveler seeking convenient and accessible option. The absence of an on-site restaurant, cafe, or even a well-stocked camp store with a variety of food choices left me with limited options for meals. Though there were nearby restaurants and grocery stores but with limited store hours. If the campground were to invest in food options or partner with local eateries to offer on-site dining solutions, it could significantly enhance the overall camping experience for guests.

Our stay here was 10/7/23 to 10/14/23. We couldn't have picked a better week!! Loved this campground and the area. Staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. Although a little ridiculous they charge for early check-in, oh well.Would've spent more time at the pool bar, however the bartender was never there. He kept disappearing.Anyhow, my husband and I loved it and we hope to be back!We discovered Radio Hatteras and now listen to it online!

Camped with friends and kids in mid September, and the campground was absolutely perfect. It was very quiet at night, you can hear ocean waves crashing while you sleep in your tent. Campground is very kid and toddler friendly, with many activities through the day, in addition to a very large pool, playground, and a jumping pillow, which all adults enjoyed as well. Having a pool side restaurant and bar made it very easy to feed tired hungry kids without ever leaving the water. Front office staff were friendly and helpful. Bathhouses and grounds are kept very clean. We will definitely be back many more times!

This is certainly a great location for camping near the beach. The beach is just over the dunes, and beach access is easy. There is, however, no view of the ocean from the campground because of the dunes. There are a couple of negatives. Have your laundry done before you arrive, or otherwise stay elsewhere. One laundry room was completely shut down, and the other had 5 or 6 machines out. The other issue was the long term campers. Not visually appealing. But we had an enjoyable visit.

We have truly enjoyed our camping experience here at this Koa. We have traveled many miles in our life and stayed at many campgrounds and alot of Koa's.This is the absolutely the nicest and best one we have stayed at. The showers and bathrooms are very nice and ladies it is very hard to find showers that have the take down nozzle to use. This is very important. We got a very nice location (807) on an end lot with a concrete pad and shelter over the picnic table. It has a nice fire pit with seating and another table by the camper for seating. We were very impressed. The beach is a very close walk to enjoy. This place has a beautiful pool and jacuzzi. It has golfcart and cabin rentals. It has activities and fun for all ages. You will just have to check out the website to see. I loved picking out a special ceramic piece to paint and then you turn them back in for a short time while they glaze them. They also give you the paint and brushes. It is now November and getting cooler and alot of the Summer activities have stopped and the restaurant on-site has closed too. We are fine with that because we do not have children or need to eat there. There are many places to eat all over the island. There is so much to see on the Outer Banks such as all the lighthouses, Wright Brothers Museum, take a ferry to Ocracoke and visit there town including their lighthouse, just enjoy the beautiful beach, dunes, watch kiteboarding and windsurfing on the ocean etc. I love photography so getting beautiful pictures of this area was fun. I love the beautiful sun rises and sun sets. We rode to Manteo and visited their little town, lighthouse, museum, and there is an aquarium too. My husband found a beautiful painted rock for me underneath a bench at the beautiful town waterfront park. When we checked in a lady named Kim was very sweet and patient and took special time with answering questions. We got a burger and fries, BBQ sandwich and fries from their restaurant that was closing for the year in 2 hours. The food was great! They have a great little store too.So much to talk about. So what are you waiting for???If you want to visit Outer Banks this is the place to stay.

We just spent 4 days and 3 nights in the lodge and had a great experience. The rooms were nice, the property was well maintained, and the staff was helpful and friendly. My 3 year old had a blast playing on the pirate themed playground and in the pool/hot tub. We also enjoyed the activities that were available. My kiddo is still talking about the Glo train ride we did. We unfortunately didn t get to enjoy the beach due to a hurricane in the Atlantic that made it unsafe, but look forward to doing that on our next trip.

Great experience at this KOA as always. Our 3rd time here and probably best experience. They started sending text updates since our last time here which were very helpful. Great location, service and facilities. Very clean campground, however there were a couple small and awkward looking sites. Luckily we had a very spacious site. Highly recommend the back-in dune sites if there s any availability, seems to have the most room and privacy. Thank you for a great stay!

Location is great and I love that they have Sound access too. The staff were super nice and helpful. The pool was fine although the jacuzzi jets in the small pool were out of order and the water murky - it didn t look clean. We have a popup so we had to use the bathrooms/showers and that is the reason for my low rating. The bathrooms were mostly clean although the panels to the under-sink area were removed with what looked like uncompleted repairs the whole week we were there. The shower area was absolutely disgusting. Several stalls were out of order the entire week. The ones that weren t were full of dirt, trash, and clumps of hair. This was the case for the whole week. I don t expect pristine conditions but a basic level of cleaning is expected. If you have a large RV and don t need to use those facilities then it s fine, I guess. I won t be returning. I ll also note that another guest in the park had their golf cart stolen and wrecked in the park and their belongings scattered across sites. Apparently this isn t the first time this happened this season from what employees said.Walkability: Short walk to beach and sound.

Went Tent camping with my man and dog. Great location, but it would be nice if the sites weren't so close together. If you have kids, they will love this place. They have a nighttime train with music and lights. It was great to watch it go around the park. My big complaint would be the restrooms. They're falling apart and they're freezing cold. I would go again if I had a trailer. I feel like I'd have move space.

This campground is great! Very remote & a 25+ minute drive to major grocery stores, but we planned for that. Tons of activities for kids. The train ride, huge nice playground, volleyball net, basketball hoop, the bounce pad, hot tub, huge pool. Staff was incredibly nice.. shout out to Ginny & Dawn, they are SO nice & it was always nice making conversation with them every time my daughter, Piper, & myself went in the store. The camp sights were very nice & clean. This was our second stay here & booked our third stay here in 3 weeks while we were here.I love this campground. Couldn t recommend it more.

We stayed in our own rv. We paid extra for a pull through patio site. They put us next to this massive bounce pad and the pool. Non stop kids screaming. So horrible. This is not a place for couples to relax on vacation the experience is absolutely horrible. To think I paid extra for this site and I have to listen to at least 30 kids screaming until 9 at night. Parents just let their kids run wild here. Spend the afternoon at the pool getting splashed by who knows who's kids. Definitely would never return. That being said the ocean access was great. Campground was nice overall which is the only reason I'm not giving it 1 star

This was our second stay here. First was in March, non holiday weekend and we loved the dune lots. It was quiet and service was good. We decided to book it 2 more times, and on the second trip which was labor day, it was complete MAYHEM.1.) So many golf carts "cruising" the small campground at all hours with loud music. We could not relax. The campground recognized it as there sent out texts to all campers about quiet hours, but it got worse-No enforcement whatsoever.2.) Restrooms were filthy. Stalls with doors broken off, dirty, just disgusting.3.) We had a Dune lot right off the ocean, but ours was also on the bridge to exit the ocean. On the 4th night there around 11:30 PM, our brand new airstream was pelted with rocks. There are huge dents in the side of our new camper. Yes, you're reading this correctly. We called the local sheriff who was helpful.Management is inept, doesn't care, took no action. They don't have security cameras near the bath houses, no security whatsoever, and didn't seem to even want to learn what happened. We checked out immediately, and found a suitable option in the same zip code.Police report filed with the local law enforcement if you want more details. Date of crime was 9/5 at 11:30 PM.

This KOA was one of the best we have visited. Sites are nice and some even have roofs over the picnic tables. Easy access to beach. The real amenity is their pool area, it's huge. They have a snack bar with it and even a pool bar! Marin was awesome and even remembered us the next day! We met some great people there and had a blast!

This is the second summer my family stayed at this rv park. We have a camper and had no issues with the full hook up sites. There are a lot of activities for kids throughout the day and into the night....such as glow train rides, ghost crab hunting, and foam parties! The service is top notch. A simple text message requesting ice or firewood and its delivered directly to your site within minutes. I think the longest we waited for ice was under 10 minutes! There is beach access from within the campground and it's at most a 5 minute walk from the office, and less from most sites. Now the negatives. They have a pool and hot tub. They got rid of the large slide from the pool this year which was disappointing. The hot tub was disgusting! At no point during our 5 night stay could I see half way down to the bottom. The water needs to be cleaned A LOT better. The pool has a decent amount of sand and hair in it....which is understandable since many people go from beach to pool, but I feel should be cleaned more frequently. Lastly, the bathrooms by the cabins were gross. Friends staying with us in the cabins came to our site across the campground to use our facilities. If you have a 30amp camper I recommend using the 50amp plug with an adapter. Many of the 30 amp plugs are loose and may melt your connection.

We have been loyal KOA members coming to this resort since 2016 but will never camp here again. This morning the power went out not once but twice. The second time the power was out for more than 30 minutes and no one was notified. The temperatures were in the 90s with heat factor and I called the office to let them know that we had not received a text, an email or anything to let us know the power was out. The woman really had no answer so I asked her what the office was doing to let people on the beach know that the power was out. Still nothing from the other end of the line. Finally I stated that RVs are like locked cars in summer and that within 5 minutes of the outage the temperature in our RV had gone up 5 degrees. It had been over 15 minutes at that point with no power. Further, our RV, which is a 2016 had no auto start for the AC. Meaning even when the power went back on there would be no AC until it was manually turned on. She stated there was no protocol in place for this type of issue and she would have to speak to the management. I was completely stunned. I hung up the phone and went to the beach and let people know as quickly as possible that the power was out. Finally, much further down the beach I ran into a man who had a beach house and lived in the area. He stated he knew the power was out because it was a planned outage. So the KOA knew, or had a duty to know, that this was going to happen and definitely had a duty to let their campers know of the issue. I was completely stunned at the lack of understanding at the front office of the issue. RVs are no different than cars and heat up at an alarming rate when they are closed up and there is no AC. KOA should be ashamed of management of this callous nature. We will finish out this vacation and then voice our disappointment with our wallets for our next vacation. This area is loaded with other campsites of comparable quality and we will make use of them several times a year during our visits.

Another excellent visit! We just concluded our 3rd trip in 4 years and are already planning for next year. The sites are level, bathhouses relatively clean given the extensive use, and the staff is extremely courteous (especially Marin and James at the Tikihut.) They even have a very reasonable cancellation policy which allows for last minute changes which we had to exercise over Memorial Day due to a tropical depression. If only they could control the weather, this place would be just about perfect!
