Text 31289U57 get in lineThis is how you get a spot! Your welcome! They will text you when to come inside. That s not going to matter.BE PREPARED TO WAIT HOURS AND HOURS. They will also end you a text saying whst station to come to. The employees here are nice people! Great people! Be patient with them!

I don't often leave reviews but this is insane.Apparently they do not stay true to their appointments. My S.O. is there right now and had an appointment for 9:45 and it is currently 1:40 and he still has not been called back.He said something to them and all they said was that we are busy and he will have to wait. He has been there for 4 hours even with an appointment.

Going to the dmv is one of those chores nobody looks forward to, but after seeing all the bad reviews, I had to report my experience with the Forest City NCDMV office. I had a 20 minute wait as I arrived early thinking I would beat the crowd . Apparently that s a popular belief. Even so, 20 minutes wasn t bad. There were around 10 plus people ahead of me. I encountered no rude employees and the woman that took care of me was very nice and very efficient. Of all my encounters with dmv over the course of my life, this was one of the best.

They open at 8;00 a.m. On this past Monday morning, I was the 1st person waiting outside. Perhaps ten or so others had arrived by the time they opened. At 8:00 a.m., a gentleman comes out, greets everyone, and sets up the QR sign-in poster. For first-time visitors: No paper number slips are given out, and there is no 'standing' in line inside. Simply use the camera feature on your phone to scan the code on the sign. Tap the link to receive a text msg. Reply to be assigned a number 'in line'. Enter, take a seat, observe the overhead screen, and wait for your number to be called.Note: If you're waiting outside and a line has formed, be aware that people can come from the back of the line to scan the code. So, be quick! LOL. Whoever scans first will get a number first, even if you came before them. I ended up being 2nd 'in line' on the inside.Anyway, it took about 25 minutes for me to get a renewal. A lady named Laura or Lauren helped me . She was so kind and professional. It was such a pleasant experience to start my day!The lobby was slam full when I left. Before 8:30!!Come prepared to wait. Be patient and kind. The staff is quite limited and works hard to provide these services.

Totally understaffed, resulting in unreasonably long wait times. The old man who works in there Timmy D. Edwards is unbelievably rude and disrespectful toward everybody who walks through the doors. It s worth noting that he is the only one qualified to give exams to first-time drivers. I do not recommend this office to any young drivers coming in for the first time, as they ll have to ride with him and deal with his attitude and listen to his negative and disparaging comments.

This place is awful. The older man that does the drivers license test is RUDE as can be. A state trooper can look at proof of insurance on a cell phone so why can t the dmv? The system was down today but they didn t make an announcement to everyone. They waited until your number was called and asked what you was there for and then turned you away for certain things because the system was down . He was also rude to my aunt, my sister and I. I wish there was another person that does the testing because he is very very rude.

A CATHARTIC LIFE-ENHANCING EXPERIENCE!!As I approached the driver's license office with its Grand brick facade and gleaming glass doors I was struck with an air of wonderment. It stood like a powerful beacon of hope, or rising Phoenix. Then I entered...I stepped into the Great Hall of waiting and was given a number. I looked around and saw that they were others just like me, all sitting in their plastic thrones. I gazed my eyes around the room and saw there was literature on almost every wall. Words of driver education, rules and processing fees.. all spellbound in Great lengths of wisdom and bureaucracy. It felt like hours went by.. and then.. a voice spoke my number that seemed to appear from the heavens above.. I was called, called to meet the DMV officer. She was seated at her glorious workstation like an angel. Her fingers whisked like angelic feathers across her computer keyboard and the light from her computer screen shined upon her face as though she were staring into the reflection of God.As much as I hoped this moment could last for eternity,, alas, it was over too soon..My driver's license was renewed,, and I was cast back out to the dark cold world I've always known...

Waited 3.5 hrs to renew my dl. Understaffed and staff they did have was SLOW. One lady said she tried to schedule an appointment but couldn't get one til March, another complained about them not answering the phone.

I do not recommend going to this DMV for a first time driving test, especially if you have an anxious teen. The older man that does the road tests is cold and rude. We witnessed him yell at several people while we were there (who simply had a question or didn t understand something.) My sister was extremely nervous to get in the car with him after this and she left there in tears because of the way he spoke to her while on the road. I thought maybe I was overreacting because Im big sister and I was so upset for her, but after reading these reviews, it seems like a pretty common experience. Also, you CANNOT call this office. It s not like no one will answer you just can t call. It says user busy and won t even ring. Tried to call for several days before the appt to make sure I would be allowed to bring her as my parents were out of town. The other lady that works there was very nice, but unfortunately she does not give the road tests.

I'm here right now! Why is it so bad?! It smells like cornchips, the old man keeps yelling, and there's a poop stain on the bathroom wall. I'm not even mad about the poop stain because I bet whoever did it, did it to preserve there sanity. I'm about to poop on the wall out of sheer boredom.Update: We have been here for hours without food or water (especially Mexican food). If we don't make it out, some let my family know that we were valiant in our pursuit of the license.

It's ok. Just the WAIT. I believe NC needs an overhaul of some of our State Government services and ways of doing thingsI'm sure there's redundant jobs that would be better used by hiring another officer to run tests and such at the DMVBut. I appreciate all the hard work so I can drive! Peace,!

Horrible, other than the 2 nice ladies who seem under appreciated. The fossilized older man is infamous for being impatient and rude. When I went about 5 months ago the whole place was packed, so I leaning/wall sitting against the back wall and he comes stomping out yelling there s no sitting on the ground across the dmv. Then two of my bestfriends went today and all was swell until the driving part, he was huffing and puffing every time they made a minor mistake. I understand that the dmv is understaffed as I have worked in understaffed place of work, but that s no excuse to be rude to anybody who was trying to move on with their life or do necessary requirements.

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place! I went in today to get my commercial license renewed just to find out that someone from this office removed all of my endorsements back in 2021 without my knowledge. I Was told by the supervisor there was nothing she could do and that I would have to retest to get my endorsements back on my license. To make a long story short I had to call Raleigh and and they made them add the endorsements back. I won't be coming to this DMV ever again!

Why is this the slowest DMV I've ever? I've never ever ever been in such a horrible DMV. Most the staff is rude, 4 kids waiting to get their learners permit, no one at the testing computers. One of the kids said he had been here for 2 hours. His parent takes him out of school just to do this and this is the 5th time. The other times he said they told them sorry we are closing try again early mornings! This place should be shut down. I've lived in big cities and small towns, This is by far the worst DMV. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR CHILD'S.

**UPDATE** Fax machine nor phone work. This place is a joke!!! Not even sure why they have a phone number listed! They either keep it off the hook or it s out of service who knows which but for a government office they should at least have a working phone number. The scan or text feature is alright if you know how to use the QR code or text but I was there today and several older people had no idea how to do either & no help offered from staff. Thank goodness between myself and a couple of other people we were able to help, but definitely worst office I ve ever been to!!

Wish I could give "0" stars. Every time I go there; They always give issues. Their management is the worst. They tell you one thing and then tell you it's wrong. Waited for 1 hour just to be sent away and told to redo the paperwork because the form is "outdated" even though the lady at the front said everything was "OK." Please try to avoid their location at all cost. You will save more time driving 15 extra minutes to a different DMV than wasting time with people working here!!!!

Edit: It gets worse. After making everyone stand outside in 25 weather for nearly an hour, they came out and told us that they won't be accepting any walk-ins until after lunch. This is absolutely ridiculous and inhumane.By far the worst DMV experience I've ever had. I expect there to be a wait, that's fine, but to have a group of 30+ people wait outside in 25 degree weather is uncalled for, especially when there is room in the waiting room. The only people they allowed in the building are those with an appointment, so all the walk-ins get to just suffer in horrible weather instead of just lining us up inside so we can at least wait without pain. As a state agency you'd think they would care about the people they serve. Do better.

This place takes forever to get anything done. It seems they only take 2 people an hour. Everyone here waiting for 3 hours just to get on with thier day. Its ridiculous

I made an appointment for my real ID and it went well! If you don't make an appointment for whatever you need, it doesn't seem to work as well. Be aware they only take a certain number of walk-ins each day and the quota was full by 9:00 AM.

The staff the Spindale Office are super. They are definitely busy. You can not get a n appointment or at least we were unsuccessful. We went early but staff advised that they were so busy and understaffed that we needed to return later in the afternoon. It took an hour or so to get our new license. Something needs to be done to improve appointments.

The old guy that works here is extremely rude. He made my daughter cry after saying hateful things towards her and i. The lady however is very nice. I recommend going to a different dmv if you are thinking about this one.

Very slow since the new way of checking in and I noticed a lot of people can't get their business took care of in just 1 trip, I heard a Lot of grumbling , frustration.Just let people walk in, take a number, sign a log thing with their assigned number. Like it used to be. Why you got to keep trying to change everything????

My Mom had an appt. We have been here waiting, waiting and waiting!!!!! This is so ridiculous. I will drive on expired license before ever sitting through this again. Wait time for appointments is approximately 3 hours!!!! Looks like our state could do better than this. How can we press our state to do better???

If I could give it a half star I would. I am new to NC and couldn't find any appointments in my city for months. This was an hour away, but I could get in so I grabbed the appointment online. I had an appointment at 9:45am and I was seen at 10:45am which is a normal wait time even when you have an appointment. It was the customer service I received that was horrible. A man called me up (Tim?) and I was friendly, asked him how his day was going. He ignored me completely, not even acknowledging me as a person. I went through all of my documents, etc. Now, I know DMV workers aren't friendly in the first place as a whole, and I am not there to make friends, but this was another level of not being friendly. I could go through my entire encounter, but let's just say I will never go to this dmv again. I would suggest going to ANY other DMV except this one, and if you do go, make sure you do not see Tim.

I made an appointment for 12 in the afternoon3 months in advance. When I arrived, appointments were attended to first mostly. When I was checking in I was told that the only two people working were going to lunch and that I would have to do my road test at 2pm. I told the worker that I drove from an hour away and that didn t seem to phase him. As well, he didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Finally, when I returned to take my road test he was unfriendly. Throughout the test, he was rude and made no attempt at pleasantries. Bad experience.

The old guy has zero patience and wasn t helpful at all. Be prepared to wait a long period of time without an appointment. And make sure you have all the paperwork they need 5-10 different things to verify who you are

Probably the worst DMV I've ever been to. The kind lady examiner that helped was very nice and thoughtful, she did her best and helped us even though we were walk-ins. We did get here at 12:00 and we're helped at 4 pm, so about a 4 hour wait. There were a huge amount of people in line behind us that won't be assisted today I believe. Probably about 25 or 30 people.

Ridiculous!!!! I know everywhere is short handed but if you can't make an appointment you are basically up a creek with out a paddle! When you're just wanting to renew your license or need a photo I.D. you should not have to come yo DMV. Especially if you have had no tickets wrecks etc... You can only renew on line once! Once you've done it that 1 time you're out of luck! Been here since before 8 and still waiting! Unbelievable!

Worst DMV I ever encountered. Got there at 11 waited an HOUR to get checked, stayed until closing and NEVER got seen. Kept letting people go ahead of me. The staff was EXTREMELY rude. If you need to go to a DMV, I would highly not recommend going to this one.
