If I'm ever visiting Durham and needing auto service again, I'd definitely go to this shop! The owner, AW, is personable, honest, helpful and offers affordable service. Martin was awesome as well, providing excellent and quick service to get me safely back on the road. If you're in Durham and need a mechanic, visit AW's shop, you'll thank me later.

Fair prices. Friendly people. They are honest & that s the best thing you can say about an auto repair shop. Igor is the man. He typically works on my car & it is always perfect when he s done. Definitely ask for Igor.

Great service, great price, no nonsense. I know a thing or two about cars and they have never even tried to sell me on something I didn't need. On the contrary they have told me not to get service like coolant flush that i specifically asked for because it wasn't necessary. Don't get fooled by outward appearances their work is not impacted by the subjectively grimy, usually packed parking lot. The grime should just be seen as evidence that they work on a ton of cars in all states of fluid leakage.

With prices soaring, finding a quality / trustworthy mechanic has been a nightmare. From price gouging, manipulation to out right lying it s a real knife fight out here. I had an hour for lunch and I called ahead and asked about wait times & he gave Detailed information that was very helpful.The man said 15 minutes for an inspection Right Now so I went straight there. He had me in and out the door in less than 20. He did not over charge, add on any unnecessary things to the bill or even try to upsell. (Because I mentioned I was on a time crunch briefly on the phone) Very informational, trustworthy and genuine interaction. I am now home way quicker than I anticipated so I m putting the rest of my hour into this comment.Shout out to Speedy Gonzalez

I have had a wonderful experience with Igor at AW. He is extremely knowlegable, extremely honest, and just a great mechanic. Igor has gone above the call of duty for me in my car repair needs. He has also been a valuable source of information about my Honda, which is only one of his specialties. I highly recommend Igor for all your auto repair jobs.

I live a short walk from a couple of highly rated auto repair shops in Durham. They are extremely convenient for me and I have used them both for years. However, I always felt like the prices were high, and communication wasn't great (completing work when I had specifically asked for a quote before beginning work, work taking much longer than indicated, etc.) AW's is 7 miles from where I live, and requires me to coordinate a ride back if I leave the car to be repaired. Despite this, I won't take my car anywhere else. A while back, I needed extensive repair to a suspension system, and AW's quote was about 25% less than the other two I checked. This is the first shop that I fully trust. They are both competent and honest. I always get the sense that the shop is trying to get the needed work done for the smallest charge possible. Something else I greatly appreciate is that unlike other shops that seem to hire someone specifically to answer the phone and schedule appointments, everyone who has answered the phone at AW's, has been very knowledgeable and at times have even given me ideas to try to see if I can fix the problem myself. I have gotten the sense that AW is looking to build life long customers. Well, I don't plan on taking my cars anywhere else!

Igor and his team are the best. They do great work at a very fair price. So glad I found this place. Only place in Durham I will go for auto service.*Edit- 12/27/23 Never again will I bring my car here. The person who changed my oil made a huge mess on my skid plate so it seemed my car was leaking oil. I went in to have him double check to ensure everything was in good order and have him clean up the mess he made. He began to use the life to raise my car up in the air and slam it into the overhead door. After expressing my frustration he proceeded to drive my car out of the shop like he stole it. Chirped the tires and slammed in into park.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

They are great! I had been to a few shops prior that have given me some outrageous quotes for a job, and also told me I needed parts I knew I didn't need. The folks at AW were honest, and Igor (my guy!!) was so helpful throughout the process. There were some part backorders and issues getting the right ones, but Igor handled everything and kept me updated along the way. He was also thorough about letting me know what he thought the issues were and explaining everything. After I got my car back, Igor called a few days later to check in on how the car was running. Cannot recommend enough, especially because at the other shops I tried I felt like I was being taken advantage of as a young woman, assuming I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to my car. My go-to spot from now on! :)

Top notch mechanics who know their stuff! As a woman, I trusted them, to figure out something 3 other mechanics couldn t. I was treated with respect from Ahmed at the front desk, to everyone in the garage. Wendell solved the mystery (knowledgeable process of deduction) that no one else could solve. He fully explained it to me, which I appreciated. I highly recommend AW s Auto Service!!

They take good care of our cars from simple oil changes to some minor work we have needed done and at reasonable prices. After stopping using our dealership service, we went to a few places before we found AW. The folks here are very friendly, I am a super fan of Igor!

Honesty! Fair Prices! and Straight to the Point! I have used this shop for inspections. However, One day I was getting my car inspected and a gentleman came in to pick up his car and I over heard the conversation between the car owner and the mechanic Igor. I was extremely impressed with his honesty, solution, business ethics, and fair price. Because of that, I have now started recommending that people come to this shop for their service as I will. You could tell that the gentleman had a much higher price in mind but that was not the case. I'm from out of the area and a member of the church on Sunday told me this was the place to go to get my brakes fixed. This is one of the best experiences I've ever had with car repairs. Igor got me in the day I called and he was knowledgeable enough to find and fix an additional problem I didn't know about. Igor even had me call back after I got where I was staying to make sure everything was ok. Basically echoing others they truly do quality work at a reasonable price. They also cared enough to make sure I was safe as the other problem while simple to fix was dangerous for me continuing to drive. I highly recommend Igor and this shop as the first place to go for service as he went above and beyond what was required.

I've used this place a few times and really liked some of the people. The last time though, Igor, the real nice guy that normally works on my car wasn't there but this young kid with a really bad attitude problem was. Like this place, but did not like owner telling me they could repair my car if I brought it in right then. When got there he said would have to do a pressure test on it. So I said ok but someone came in for an oil change and they said I would have to wait. Would not mind if I came in after the other customer. I also own a business customer service is our top priority. I think it should be every business priority, but we know that is very hard to find.

I can't recommend this place enough. I've been here probably 10+ times and everyone I've worked with has been really nice, and, more importantly, honest about my options and the choices available given the situation of the vehicle. They sometimes even recommend other places to get equipment if they think it could save you some money. I've been to other high-rated auto shops in the area, but I trust these folks the most.

Owner/Boss was hella rude and mean for no reason . I literally pulled up and parked in front of one of the bays . The man came and started yelling at me , telling me to park in a parking space and why would I park there , etc! He was really aggressive and talked to me like I was stupid . Mind you there was no car in the bay , so I wasn t blocking anyone and there s almost nowhere to park cuz it s so small and the spaces have no lines . So I didn t know what was and wasn t a parking space. I just wanted to ask a question about a tire . He definitely could ve just asked me to move politely instead of walking up on my car yelling. I apologized and said I wasn t sure where to park and he just kept telling me to leave . All I wanted was a tire .

Igor did an amazing job reviewing a used car we brought over and explaining exactly what to expect if we bought it. He is extremely knowledgeable and really helped us out! Plus the price was great for all the inspections he did on it! I m thankful for how great everyone is there & will be going out of my way to see them regularly once we do find a car!

From out of town, had our car towed here & glad we did. They communicated well with us & were up front about the repairs needed. When we decided against any repairs, they moved the car to an easier spot for the tow truck & met the tow driver with the keys. They replaced my tire this afternoon and everything about the experience was excellent. The guy I spoke to on the phone before arriving was really helpful with figuring out my tire size and was realistic about the time they would need to get it done. The mechanic who worked on my car pointed out some other minor issues it had, but wasn t pushy at ALL about getting it fixed right away. He was also incredibly helpful and answered so many (probably silly) questions of mine without being condescending, and he even gave me tips and tricks on how to maintain my car in the future. I can t thank this guy enough. I wish I had remembered to get their names! Their pricing was also really reasonable. I will definitely be coming back and recommending them to others!Service: Tires

A&W Auto was recommended to me back in late 2018... that's where I met Igor, auto mechanic. From day one, he has been straight forward with me, very honest and his pricing was better than anyone else around. He always tries to find the best solution at the best price -- and he knows cars. I have found my mechanic and recommend him highly!!! He has been a huge blessing to our family!

Igor is the best Mechanics anyone can ever ask for, he is very honest and the prices is always fair. He will go over and above to make sure customers are satisfied. The staff is very friendly and female's can be relieved of their worries because they will not try to mislead you or take the advantage of women which is what I have experienced for years when it come to my car repairs. I strongly recommend anyone to choose Aw Auto for all your car services. Igor will respond quickly and answer any questions you may have, he also will give you resources that have integrity, I need a tow truck and he gave me a wonderful guy who does not try to break your pocket book. I am so pleased to know this place of business the entire staff are just simply nice people that you can trust. I will not take my cars to anyone but Igor .
