Bottom Line Up Front - I can t recommend this organization in good conscience. I ll explain below.On 30 September 23 my vehicle died enroute to Charlotte.After having it towed to 5 Star Transmission and Total Auto Care, based on a quick review of highly rated transmission shops, we were able to confirm that the transmission was bad.We spoke over the phone regarding the plan to fix it as soon as they opened. The facts we were given were that due to the UAW strikes there were no available transmissions for our Honda Pilot and it wasn t possible to tell when the issue would be resolved. She then suggested we build the transmission which would be covered by our warranty. We agreed hesitantly.After several weeks of building the transmission we became restless and began to call frequently to get updates. I say frequent because we were unable to get in touch with anyone. (This was later explained as a problem with the phone line.)We then called the Honda Service Department to see if they could complete the job faster and they were confused when we told them about the transmission shortage. Two different technicians confirmed that there was never any shortage of transmissions in Concord, Charlotte, Raleigh or any of the surrounding cities during the dates that our car was in the shop.At this point we called to have the car transferred to our local Honda Service Department and not only did they order the transmission and install it within 6 days, they also identified additional items on the car that needed to be replaced immediately. These items happened to be covered by our warranty which saved us a little more money.I m upset that the technician we spoke to at 5 Star Transmission lied to us. That lie ended up costing us hundreds of dollars in ride share fees because my spouse and I both work in an office and we also needed to drop our kids off at school every day.I m also upset that we were misled into believing the optimal solution for solving our problem was to build a transmission when our warranty clearly covered the purchase of a new transmission, an outcome that is obviously better for us.Because of this shop s blatant lies and the staggering amount of money and time that they cost my family I cannot recommend that anyone use their services in good conscience.

Great place. Have had transmission on my Ford Transit 350xlt replaced on a tight timeline. Have had several other large and small jobs done on my family s vehicles and always comes through. Wayne and Donna are great to work with.

I needed to replace my transmission in my 2014 Ford. The car was diagnosed at a different shop and the price was quite high and I was advised to shop around. I called a few places to request a quote.When I sent my request the shop was closed. Even though they were closed Jenny called back and got the necessary information to get started on a quote.I knew right then I wanted to use this repair shop because I knew they were going to give me great customer service. And they did not disappointFirst off their price was $1,500 cheaper than where I had the car diagnosed.Jenny and Donna are amazing! They are professional, knowledgeable about the service done to your car and what they informed me what I may expect in the days following my transmission replacement. They are relatable and very friendly. They kept me informed throughout the whole time they had my car.This was the best customer service I have received in a long time . This place went absolutely above and beyond with their care and service. After a long day of dealing with a car and getting it towed in the Carolina heat, we were blessed to have selected this facility to be towed to. They were so incredibly nice and always had a smile on their faces. They stayed a few minutes after they closed to allow us to put our car in their lot, and fixed the car by 4:00 p.m. the next day. We could not have gotten better customer service, and I highly recommend this shop to anyone. It was very affordable. They take Lincoln s, and Mary Lou at the front was a sweetheart! I wish I could give higher than a 5 star review, but they truly are 5 star transmissions :)

I was driving from Virginia to SC on a Friday afternoon when my 08 Sienna decided to break just outside Concord at a gas station. I was on my own in a strange place and had no idea what was wrong with my van. I called a tow and the driver told me it was almost definitely the transmission. He recommended 5 Star, so we towed it there. They told me the car wouldn't be able to be looked at until Monday, which I understood. They had me pay 50% of the estimated cost of a transmission, then they very kindly gave me a lift to a car rental place so I could be on my way. Over the next few days, I was given updates. After taking the time to really investigate the problem, instead of just switching the transmission like they could've, they found out the problem was a much smaller, much cheaper, fix. Instead of getting charged more than $2500, like they had predicted for a new transmission, I was actually credited back most of the money I'd already paid. The final bill was less than $700. They could've easily taken advantage of me, especially being out of state during the repairs, but these guys were honest and helpful and made what was a terrible situation into an ultimately good experience. If they weren't a 5 hour drive from my house, I'd use them every time. Thank you all so much!

Let me start by saying this will be my new go to place for ANYTHING having to do with my cars.I just moved to the Concord area about 2 years ago so it has been hard for me to find a good auto shop. Long story short this place blows the other 6 shops I've been to so far out of the water. From customer service to taking to time to really drive my car to see my concerns. Explained to me they didn't want me spending money on things i didn't need at the moment, unlike other shops that were just trying to get money from me through parts and labor. After thoroughly driving my car they called me and let me know in detail every aspect of my concern. They took the time out to really explain everything that was going on and everything that might need my attention in the near future. NO OTHER auto shop has done that since I've moved here two and a half years now. Just all around Great and Best experience I've had!! - I was a little skeptical about who I let work on my car it being older, but I can tell you I feel comfortable and at ease with this shop. When a shop takes the time out to really explain in detail everything that's going on and everything you had concerns about cherish that because that's hard to find. Thanks for the help - GREAT JOB! OUR FAMILY STORY: Travel to N. Carolina on family vaca with a fam of 5. About 20mins outside of Charlotte, engine temps spike. I park van in safe place and call insurance. We have our van towed to 5-star trans as they have great reviews. Donna w/5-star Trans greets us and notices we are stressed (kids and all). She bumps us to front of line. Gets us a full diagnosis within 1.5 hrs. She gets it in the bay right away and had her mechanic (Jason [great guy by the way]) work on it from open til close (even stayed past closing to get us on the road toward home). The care for fellow humankind was almost not from this world. Almost had to pinch myself to believe how nice 5-Star Transmission treated us. They got our van fixed same day and got us home (5.5 hour drive) safely. 5-Star Transmission is second to none!Service: Transmission

5 Star truly deserves 5 stars! Our family discovered a transmission issue on our way back from our Thanksgiving trip to Tennessee. Took it to the dealership and was hit with sticker shock of their repair/replacement option after a brief diagnosis. Found 5 Star and they truly treated us like family. Not only did they take the time to identify the issue, they helped me understand what was going on and what they recommended. THEN, they went the extra mile to make sure I was completely taken care of. Talked with the owner at length who was super concerned for our issue and wanted to make sure everything was as it should be. They even asked me to come back in ten days later just so they could inspect the work and ensure everything is doing what it should at no charge to me. Debbie was so kind and helpful in the office and the guys in the shop worked hard to get me back on the road in time for our next family trip. Super impressed! Give them a try, for sure.

May 2021 my transmission was replaced here, only to have issues and bring it back the very next day for them to fix more because they didn t check everything.Fast forward to July 2022 transmission issues again. They were very busy and had to set an appointment for a month out, August 25th. 2022. The night before my appointment the manager calls me informing me that they will not be able to fulfill the appointment because their technician was in a bad wreck. I said I understood and to please call me ASAP when they can get me in. An entire month went by before I ended up calling them again because they hadn t called me. Finally at the beginning of October 2022 I was finally able to get my jeep in their shop. My check engine light was on, ABS light, and traction light. Five Stars Transmissions had my Jeep the entire month of October, and then called me on November 17th asking me what issues I was having with my jeep.. after I had given a very accurate description when I brought in my jeep. At this point it didn t even seem like they had touched my jeep. I explained what I could to the best of my ability without having drove it myself in almost 2 months. Then on December 1st, having no heard back from the shop since November 17th I called to check on the status of my jeep twice without a return call, and of course now they have changed their hours and are closed for 3 day weekends every week now for their new hours so I didn t hear back until the following Monday the 5th. They said my jeep was ready to pick up. They claimed 3 men in their shop drove my jeep to test it, and all they billed me for was 30 mins of labor to clean my rear tire sensor. Within 5 mins of driving it I could tell nothing was fixed. They lights all came back on, transmission still having issues shifting . You name it.Long story short. Never trust this company, they clearly aren t doing what they should.Services: Transmission, Transmission repair, Brake service & repair

This service crew was amazing. The staff here is honest and professional. The owner spent extra time with me to ensure that I fully understood what issues my car had (brakes and transmission flush). He even went as far to show me how dark my fluid is and brought out a bottle of fresh fluid to compare it he two fluids. You really can't go wrong taking your vehicle here. Had a very poor experience at this shop. My car was under repair for 1 month. Ever time I would call the guy who was supposed to work on it was "out" and I was promised a call back... which never happened. I payed close to $1000 for repairs and none of the items that I had it in for were fixed. In fact, the thing that was partially broken, was now fully broken and I spent an extra $2000+ fixing the parts that were working before (ac compressor) When I finally picked it up I had some plastic pieces destroyed and the seats and upholstery (which were light gray) had visible oil stains on them. I was able to clean the seats since they were leather but the upholstery is ruined.I decided to give them a second chance with another car and dropped it off (bad idea), after not hearing anything for about a few days I changed my mind and called to pick it up. When I picked it up it smelled like someone took a bath in old motor oil and then sat in the seats. I had to spend a good weekend scrubbing the interior to get the smell out.If you value the interior of your cars, I suggest going to a more professional shop.

I called and told them I needed a transmission, but was asked if I was sure because there s no need to do a costly repair when it may not be warranted. I appreciated this because they could have done the job that I requested without confirming it was necessary. They were very affordable and communicative. I was so pleased with the professionalism and friendliness of everyone that I also brought them my Jeep to repair an engine leak which was also affordable.Service: Transmission

Everything was great concerning my experience with this auto shop. The customer service was excellent! The representative in the front office made me feel welcomed. I brought my F150 to a local repair shop because it was leaking some type of oil. The mechanic at a fix all type of shop said that the gaskets to the transmission extension needed to be replaced. I decided to take it to a transmission repair shop. I found 5 Star Transmission & Total Auto Care on line and spoke with Mary Lou on the phone to make an appointment. She was extremely helpful and got me booked right away. When I brought my truck in on the day of my appointment, Wayne came right out to take a look at what was needed. After Wayne went under my truck to see for himself, we went into the office where he explained the problem as well as answered all of my questions. My truck was fixed properly right away and I felt what I paid for the repair was very reasonable. I would highly recommend 5 Star Transmission & Total Auto Care!Service: Transmission

I took my car to 5 Star Transmission this past week for them to fix the heat in my vehicle. Debbie, the manager, was so friendly and helpful. Carlos worked on my vehicle and not only fixed my heat, but fixed two other minor things that I had mentioned to Debbie in conversation. I m so appreciative of their assistance! 5 star transmission exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be back! I would highly recommend them if you need any repairs or work done on your vehicle and want professional and trustworthy people and excellent service!

The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. They took time to explain the process of replacing my transmission and make a recommendation. 5 Star's price for my transmission replacement was cheaper than other quotes I received. The replacement was fast and I had my car back in a couple of days. They even took time to show me my previous transmission that had been removed. The new transmission has been in my car now for about 6 months and works perfectly. I'd be happy to recommend 5 Star for service and price.

The manager and everyone here was nice and honest. They told me what was going on with my car.They was very honest and respectful..nice and courtesy.I will definitely bring my car back..Keep up the good work.I took my car back for more repairs and once again they did a good job.They knew the problem and fixed my car again. They deserve 20 stars.

We had an amazing experience with 5 Star Transmission. One of our trucks broke down as we were passing through the area and 5 Star picked up our truck and driver at no charge and got us in the shop first thing in the morning. Within a couple of hours we had a diagnostic, an easy to understand explanation of the issues, knowledgeable advice, and a reasonable quote. They ordered the parts quickly and replaced the transmission within a day. We were back on the road again within a day and a half. Great customer service with friendly team members. Thank you 5 Star!

I have had the best experience with 5 Star Transmission. They do the best work on my 2011 Dodge Charger. And when I say that they are the best Auto Care Shop in the area. I recommend them to everybody that needs work done on their car and want it done right! And I would like to thank them for their great work, and great hospitality! I took my car to this automotive repair shop because my car would not crank and when it did it wouldn't stay crank long. It was puttering and skipping. I took my car to this shop on 4/23/19. These people took their own sweet time in fixing my car like it wasn't important enough. I kept calling and stopping by to see have they worked on my car. Customer service was bad. It's liked they got upset because I was checking up on my car when they wasn't doing anything to it. Once they found out that my car had diesel fuel in it. They should have told me they didn't have the time and they didn't know how to fix the problem and I would have immediately had my car taken to the dealership to get fixed. The comments that these employees made was terrible when I was checking up on my car. Some of the comments where we got other jobs to be working on, one technician stated to me that he should be working on his car. The same tech stated they are getting tired of putting gas in my car and for me to bring $30.00 so they can fill it up and drive it so they can get some of the diesel out. The tech stated he had to stop working on a $3,000.00 dollar job just to drive my car. Who does that? That was terrible customer service. This place had my car going on 3 weeks to do a job that took Nissan dealership one day to do. They told me I had to buy at part that was $259.48 so I bought it. Come to find out it was the wrong part they put on my car. I finally told them the beginning of the 3rd week that on 5/9 I will be picking my car up and it needed to be fixed. On 5/9 we went to get my car they wanted to charge me $755.00 for me to get my car. I told them I was not paying that and my car wasn't fixed. So the tech, myself and my family test drove the car. The car started to putt and skip. My car wasn't fixed. I told them I wasn't going to pay $755.00 for my car and it wasn't fixed. I had to pay $519.51 so I was able to take my car off the lot. I will not ever take my car to this place again. This place demonstrated bad customer service and labor service. I don't recommend anyone taking their vehicles there to be fixed.

Very nice folks at this shop. Dealt entirely with Jenny and Donna: Total failure of a transmission on a 2008 Ford Taurus X. I had the heavily-advertised CS warranty service (you know who this is!). They sent a c**p used transmission to 5 Star that was worse than my defective one and then argued about who should solve the problem. They wanted 5 Star to resolve it directly with provider Autonation.The car was out of commission and taking up a lift for 5 weeks. In the net, I had CS provide the funds equivalent to a USABLE used transmission, and I picked up the different for a remanufactured transmission with a 3-year warranty. Costly? Yes, but these folks worked very constructively with me to achieve the final resolution. I highly recommend 5 Star for service and value.Service: Transmission

I just have to say that even though I didn t have any actual work done to my vehicle the amount of knowledge I gathered from Wayne the owner was definitely 5 star. I have dealt with mechanics for almost 20 years and have done mostly all my own work but if I had to choose a tech other than myself it would be Wayne and his staff. Marilou is also very sweet and professional. I was treated very well and I respect that a lot. I would highly recommend this shop for any persons looking for any automotive repairs!! They are also very honest which is so hard to find these days!! Wayne didn t sugar coat anything he was very transparent and to the point.

I was referred to 5 Star by a mechanic we've used for years who is finally retiring. I said "You can't retire! Who would take care of my cars?" He said the best shop he would recommend in Concord is 5 Star Transmission. I said that I wasn't sure I needed transmission repair shop but he assured me that they were really good at all manner of car repair and maintenance.I have a 2003 Ford Expedition in perfect condition with 214,000 miles on it that developed an engine problem last year. Long story short, the mechanics at 5 Star could have simply repaired the problem and sent me on my way, but in looking more closely to see why it occurred in the first place, they found the root cause that would have resulted in the problem reoccurring again and again. While it cost me a little more money in the short term, it saved me the inconvenience and annoyance of breaking down and being stranded again for the same problem that I would have thought I paid them to fix the first time.Over this Christmas, I had one more occasion to need their repair services, and once again found them to be fast and accurate at finding and fixing the problem. In both instances, I have found that they really seem motivated to take an interest in their customers as well as just doing good automotive repair. The owner was there both times and took the time to introduce himself and thank me for the opportunity to take care of my vehicle. The last time, even the mechanic that worked on my car thanked me for coming in.I see why my old mechanic recommended 5 Star so highly. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. They have me as a loyal customer from now on. I don't usually write reviews of businesses but this business is worth recommending! These are decent people that provide a great service at a competitive price. Spread the word!

Dropped my suv off at night in their yard to be looked at in the morning and some low lifes cut my catalytic converter off. I hope they were drug addicts and over dosed.

I am very glad I found this place for car repairs. They recently replaced an alternator under warranty for me, I didn't struggle at all with scheduling the part arrived within a couple of days. I enjoyed the service from start to end.
