Received same-day diagnostic and repair service for my VW and its laundry list of issues! With their superior customer service and reasonable rates, Baker auto exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area!

JR saved my car a few months ago! My car started doing this weird thing while I was driving. It felt really unsafe but no lights were on. I took It to Firestone first because it was closest to where I was. They told me that it was being caused by uneven tread on my back tires, so I bought new tires. They didn t tell me until after I paid that they were not actually able to recreate the problem. It wasn t the tires. I took it to the Subaru dealership next and they claimed to have driven it and also were not able to recreate the problem. I felt like I was going crazy at this point because it was happening every time I drove and now two mechanics had told me that they didn t experience it. My husband suggested that I take my car into Baker. I received a phone call from JR a few hours after dropping it off. I expected to hear that he wasn t able to recreate the problem, but he was! He told me that it happened as soon as he took it out on a drive and that it was really bad. This validation alone was enough for a five star review. He kept it for a few days trying to diagnose the issue because the engine wasn t throwing any codes. He brought in a Subaru expert with a special computer and still no codes. So he tried the least expensive possible cause. It was between spark plugs and transmission. So he replaced the spark plugs and that was it! A broken spark plug. JR took time and care to figure out what was going on and to find a solution. I am so appreciative and will definitely come back for future car needs.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I found these guys when I had had it with Woodie's Auto (never use them!) and BMW. I knew they dealt with luxury brands (even my old 2006 clunker) and the intricacies of such engines, parts etc. But boy did they surprise and impress me not only with their wealth of knowledge but also lovely demeanor and very fair diagnoses. You will always get the truth and you can feel confident that they will always tell you what needs to happen asap and what can wait. Thank goodness for Baker s! I ve been recommended crap at two other mechanic shops/dealerships and wasted so much of my money without ever having a resolution. Bakers was the first place I ve been to that 100% solved my car issue. Very thankful for this shop and their honesty and knowledge. It s a small shop, nothing glamorous, but good mechanics and staff. I completely trust the people here to do a great job and at a reasonable price. Not the least expensive but not the most expensive. I know when they work on any of my vehicles the repaur will last. High quality people, high quality work. I'm not foolish with the money spent on auto repair. Take it to Baker Auto/Lacy's Alignment and it gets repaired the first time.

I am a repeat customer of Baker auto. Visit one I had an excellent experience and would agree that this is probably the best alignment place in Charlotte and David was super nice.My second experience was an absolute deal breaker. My car broke down and because of my previous experience I opted to call them about their availability to take my car before calling anyone else. I have a regular mechanic who I trust in Concord but given the circumstances I had to stay local. They said they could take it and I had it towed to them. I then learned they had a full schedule (which they already knew and failed to inform me of when they took my initial call) and could work my car in across the day. All my car needed was a new serpentine belt and the battery charged so I could then further evaluate the situation. They held my car for an entire day, told me I was "the damsel in distress" that needed their help, and spoke to me like a child that didn't know any better. This was all after I had told them "I'd like to bring my car to you due to my past positive experience. Can you help?"I was ultimately charged 2 hours of labor and the cost of the belt. While the 45/hr labor here seems quite reasonable for Charlotte, it is clear to me where they make up the difference. I also addressed them about my unhappiness with their remarks and was told that it's just a southern thing and I just should accept that.Id be game to take my car back for re-alignment but never would I go back for any kind of service.

Great service! Take your car here if you need some work done! I had previously taken my 2015 Honda Accord to a local Honda dealership for an alignment. The Honda dealership told me my alignment was so messed up that it couldn t be fixed nor corrected. Thankfully I found these people at Baker Auto/Lacy s Alignment. They were friendly, accommodating, explained everything to me in detail and they fixed my alignment in a couple of hours. I will be back!

Jim and the front desk staff were all super friendly and cordial. Rocky explained all that was done with my alignment in a way I could understand. The service was timely and I could tell the difference in the feel of my car immediately. Great customer service! I'll be back and recommend.

Excellent place to go. They do not talk down to women either. Very trustworthy. I had been going to Baker Auto for ten years plus until I moved out of Charlotte. Reasonable prices. They did maintenance and were my exclusive mechanic on my Honda 2001 CRV and I drove that car ten years and 200,000 miles. It was still purring along when I moved. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I asked them for a full break down of my quote and was given a certain price for what each aspect of my repairs would cost. I gave them the OK, and after picking up my car, was charged almost $200 for my car to be towed to Belmont for a sublet shop to do my repairs. I was never informed that I was being charged to be towed and could have made the decision to bring my car to another shop that would have done my repairs on site and not charge me for it. I got screwed by them trying to hide that charge for me. After bringing it up to them, I was given half of my money for the charge back but was told they couldn't give me the full price back. This charge was 2/3 of my total price. Other than that, got a fair price for the work I did get done so I would just check EVERYTHING you are getting charged for and get a hard copy of a price break down prior to service. Wouldn't recommend, not trustworthy and transparent.Service: Exhaust

Awesome people that do awesome work.First experience with a mechanic shop being new to the city.I drive a Volkswagen Passat.I received a call after the diagnostic check and got a detailed break down of everything that needed to be addressed based on their findings.I arrived to the shop after the work was completed to find out Iron Man himself fixed my vehicle. I was taken through what was completed and was told of things I needed to keep on my radar that could be potential threats in the future.Overall great experience and great knowing that I have found a knowledgeable shop that I will be bringing my vehicle back for all issues I have.

I bring my cars here for service and repairs because to me having a good mechanic that you can trust is as important as having a good doctor. The folks at Baker Auto have expert knowledge and they operate their business in a way that puts the customer's interests first.

Baker auto is by far the best shop I have ever dealt with. All the shop guys are extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of vehicles. As far as the European cars, there is none better. J.R., and Rocky are the best. They don't upsell, or try to pad the bills, have a clean and comfortable lounge, and lively conversation. The candles in the bathroom is a nice touch!

Everything from getting my car s oil changed to getting a gas leak looked at has been nothing short of easy. Steven, Rocky, Michael, JR, Abbie, etc. everyone has been super friendly, really easy to work with, and the pricing for all of the work has been fair AND sit was all explained to me. Btw, Abbie is my Volvo hero! Don t take your car anywhere but Baker Auto, I will recommend them to everyone I know.

Baker Auto has SAVED me yet again. They are amazing! I really can't thank the staff here enough. Genuine, Knowledgeable, helpful, trustworthy and kind- I am so grateful to have such a wonderful shop in Charlotte to turn to with all of my needs. I can't recommend this shop enough. 5+ stars!

Had been a long time customer of Baker - over 5 years. We found it unique in terms of high mechanical capabilities AND customer experience. They were friendly, honest, and communicative. Unfortunately, something has changed there recently - not sure if there is new ownership or new day-to-day management or what but the vibe is completely different. Case in point, we brought and old Volvo in for a repair - it took them a while to diagnose it (which is fine, I understand problem solving can be a undefined process). The problem is I was informed after the fact that the diagnosis cost $570!!! This for a 15 yr old beater car that is probably not even worth $570. The "old" Baker would have checked in with us to give us a sense of how things were going AND how much we were accumulating in expenses. I would stay clear away from this place now. Evidently other people are because there is not nearly the amount of business / energy there now compared to what it had been for the years we had been going there. It is an unfortunate development.

100% highly recommended! Whether you're trying to keep your daily driver running reliably or, like me, you have a prized vintage/exotic, JR can be trusted completely. He has encyclopedic knowledge, mechanical genius, high integrity and he's cool and funny too.

Baker Auto is just terrific in my experience (2005 Infiniti). They and I work closely together to SAVE me money, and it shows in the reasonable amounts that I pay to them. The quality of work that to do is excellent, and they have the detailed evidence to support that.

Great customer service and customer"support" along with the volume of knowledge makes them a great team. I'm the original owner of a1992 Z/28 Camaro which equates to 26years old. Regardless of what you drive, start here with this team! Thanking my electrical guru and the shop that sent me to them.

I got my SUV tires rotated and aligned by Lacy's. The service was phenomenal, they're knowledgeable, and finished the work ahead of schedule. Definitely check them out for any of your auto needs. I'm new to the area, but I'll be using Lacy's/Baker's moving forward.

Went in baker multiple times to get an allignment done and it was a terrible experience. I went the first time and they took my car in the back to do the allignment. Now while I understand that if there are any suspension problems at all, then they cannot do the allignment, and that they charge by the hour, but they had it in the back for 10-15 minutes and then came out to tell me I have a cracked strut mount and that they are still going to charge me 50 dollars just for the 10-15 minutes that they looked at it. I took the car and replaced it myself but then brought it back and got the allignment done for what I'm pretty sure was 170. The entire time the old white guy who I can't remember the name of was a complete jerk who constantly talks over you and belittles you the entire time. It was a very frustrating experience talking to him and it is not worth giving them your money simply because of his attitude.

I have been taking my truck here for the last few years for various repairs, tire and brake services, etc. Always treated fairly and receive quality service from Rocky and the team at Baker Auto. Would certainly recommend to anyone!

PHENOMENAL automotive care. In todays world, true tradesmen and professionals in their craft are becoming much more difficult to find. I brought a brand new 2020 vehicle thats under factory warranty to Baker Auto/Lacy's Alignment because I wanted it done right! It was done right, with care and professionalism. Rocky Weaver the alignment tech is a 38 year veteran and a real gentlemen and amazing technician. JR and Kristen are wonderful to deal with. Thanks so much
