My experience was above and beyond any automotive experience, including dealers. I was in an out of town situation with an issue that I didn t know if it would be ready in time for me to drive home! They were above and beyond helpful and got the repair done in perfect timing! I can t tell you how kind, polite, efficient and experienced the whole situation was! Many thanks to David and Will and look forward to having them service my car regularly when I move to Cary in six months!

I can't say enough good things about Modern Service and specifically Will. They have taken care of all of our cars for years and years, and he just did me a quick favor (with no appointment) for free. If you're looking for a place that's honest and reputable, this is it!

Cannot recommend them enough! I came in on my way to work when I broke down on the side of the road needing oil, they immediately helped me and had me on my way in just a few moments even though they clearly had a busy schedule that day. We will be using them for all our automotive needs going forward, employees were super kind, helpful and knowledgeable.

If you are looking for a great place to repair your car Modern Service is # 1 in my book ! They were recommended by Steven at Cary Autobody also # 1 in my book who was recommended by Matt Stark at the detail center at Bunkey s Car wash on High House rd in Cary # 1 in my book ! The mechanic s at Modern service are the nicest and most professional men I have ever meet ! David the owner amazing ! Will is so cool I don t know how he does it amazing ! Tyler is so cool I don t know how he does it too ! I asked David if I could borrow a hammer for the day and returned it the next day because I didn t have one don t ask !It pays to do business in a small town and support local businesses!Also I will not be going back to Ford because they can take care of everything I need State inspection , oil changes , and I need some others done that they can do for me ! Won't take my car anywhere else. They've saved me a fortune on power steering and suspension work this year. If they're booked out when you call its worth the wait, there's a reason so many people take their cars here!

You'll be hard pressed to find a better auto shop than Modern Service. If the majority of mechanics operated with half the integrity of this shop, then finding a good shop wouldn't be as hard as it is. It's nice not to be pushed into work that you don't need done. I almost don't want to rate them because it can be difficult to get an appointment since they are so amazing, but they definitely deserve a 5 out of 5.I've never been to a shop that was this professional and new what they were doing at the same time. They did a great job telling me exactly what was wrong with my Jeep and what needed to be done to fix it.I will definitely go back to Modern Service for any future problems.

This shop was recommended to us by the shop that we ve been going to for over a decade now. They ve been too busy and do not have Available appointments that work with our busy Schedule.We ve visited 2x now. The first time was to inspect and fix the bottom plastic engine cover which was partially hanging off after my son ran over a debris on the highway. They took him in towards the end of the day, fixed the issue in not time.Earlier today I took a car that I was planning to purchase for a new driver in our family. They inspected it. The technician explained the condition of the car in details. Showed me pictures of a couple of minor issues.Both times they were kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and took time to make sure our needs were met. Both times they did not charge us anything even as I insisted to at least pay them for the time it took to take care of the cars. They didn t ask for anything in return...not even a good review which most businesses request now a days.You can t many places that would be willing to help people in the community out of the kindness of their heart...not expecting and asking for anything in return.I 100% recommend Modern Service!

Professional, efficient, and courteous during a state inspection and oil change.They're booked out at least two weeks but are definitely worth the wait. Charges were extremely fair and itemized, and I didn't feel like they treated me differently for being a middle-aged lady. (This is not always the case.) With inflation and supply chain issues, etc., I expected to pay around $200 but it was less. They even took care of a flap hanging from my bumper. I'll be back for my next oil change. Yeah, I could do it myself but I'd rather support local folks.

They are always honest and very good on price for fixing things on my truck. They also are upfront when they see things. No seeing things for money gauging, but for safety. I highly recommend them. Been going there for 10 years.

My family has used Modern Service for years they are nice and very helpful, very reasonably priced, and equipped with the latest diagnostic systems for most foreign cars as well as American. David just kept my older 2009 BMW for 5 days, and had it driving like new again! It used to squeak, feel like it was going to break in half going over bumps, needed tires and suspension/brake work .he got all of that done for me right at $1700. It would have been well over double that, at BMW! I've driven the same car for 20 years and I love it dearly. My father has taken care of it for most of my life but the time for me to start being responsible for it eventually came. Trying to find a good mechanic is a nerve-wracking ordeal with all the horror stories about getting taken advantage of and milked for money. Modern Service has great reviews so I decided to give them a try and I am so happy I did. Their prices are incredibly fair, they have always helped me find the most cost efficient way while still giving quality service, and they always take the time to check up on my car when needed no matter how busy they are. They've have taken good care of my little car (and my husband's jeep) for the past couple of years and I am continually grateful to them, as well as happy to have a relationship with a team of mechanics I can trust.

Update Nov 2022Google reminded me that the initial review was six years old so I am adding this update. My last visit to Modern Automotive was Summer of 2022 for an A/C issue. A few of the people have changed since I wrote the first review but many of them are the same and the new employees were as honest with me as the old team. They did the work, and it was below my $200 call me limit, so the call I received at 4:30 the same day was to say, your car is ready. They also offered to stay late if I could not get there by 5:00. Once again, they get five stars from me, six years later.2016 Review -----Fact filled and direct assessment of the work needed and a legitimate quote. No phone calls 3 hours into the repairs to say OH By The Way...Have been a customer since 2012 and have friends with longer history. Great place, great people. You might get a cheaper price somewhere, if there are no add on phone calls, but you will not get better service.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Engine repair, Brakes, Air conditioning

This is a long standing buisness full of a great group of guys. Their mechanical knowledge and speed of repairs made my visit a great experience. The owner David has been involved in the shop since he graduated mechanic school many years ago. They fixed my problem swiftly and well. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good location. Affordable fair pricing!!It's also comforting to know the job was done right!!

This is one of the first times I've taken a car to a mechanic, and I've got to say they did a terrific job; they kept me in the loop every step of the way, were very knowledgable and happy to supply any additional information when I asked for it, got it done quickly, and at a very reasonable price. They were even willing to work with my schedule and helped me pick up the car after-hours since I couldn't get a ride there during business hours. If I ever need work done again, I'll know who to go to.Service: Engine repair

I would give Modern Service 6 stars if I could. They stand out in a crowded field. Sure, they might not have the fancy centers like some shops. But let's face it, we want good service at a reasonable price - not a fancy place to wait!We've brought our cars to Modern Service for well over 20 years. That's a lot of miles and a some repair work. I can tell you that in all those years, we've never been disappointed in the quality or value of the service we receive.And Modern Service stands behind their work. We had a car that needed to have the master cylinder replaced (it was a fault in that model year). They replaced it .. only to have it go out within a month .. which they replaced at their cost!! They stand behind their work.Yes, I highly recommend Modern Service .. Take your car there. Your car and wallet will thank you.

Modern Service is one of the best shops I've ever dealt with, and that means a lot.I have worked in the auto industry for many years and have gotten to know 50+ shops very well. I know how mechanics can take advantage of people because I've seen it firsthand. The folks at Modern Service are as honest as it gets.The backstory:I replaced the front brakes on my truck. The rear brakes were too much for me, though. I took it to Modern Service and asked them to replace one part on one side of the rear brakes. Once disassembled, however, they found that much more was in need of repair. They were willing to show me (and again, I know what I'm looking at) and I could tell that it was much worse that I thought. The price went up from my original quote, but it was absolutely fair for the work being done.They also kept me aware of the progress and any hiccups along the way.Modern Service is one of the most honest and fair auto repair shops that I have ever done business with.

Very honest and highly recommended place if you're around Cary, NC. I saved at least around $1000 with their honest suggestion. They're very reliable and will upfront say whether it's worthy to go ahead and do the repairs. I had drove from Tennessee till here to meet my family. I had some issues with my steering and had it diagnosed from a different mechanic which is a franchise(Mr. Tire) who suggested me with a repairs worth more than a $1000 I was a little skeptical about the repairs as I am a mechanical engineer and automobile enthusiast too. Also the Mr. Tire guy was forcing me to get the car fixed immediately. I also fix minor repairs by myself at times as it interests me and saves some bucks from my pocket as a student savings means a lot to me. So I wanted to get it checked from some local mechanic before I go ahead with the repairs that's when I came across modern service. Mr. David here was honest with the fact that old cars are not worth fixing spending over a $1000 and could manage until I drive back home and rather get it fixed there so I can get full benefits of warranty on my repairs. I recommended this place to my family too. I really appreciate their honesty.

Modern Service took care of me. I called on Monday. Was scheduled to come bring my vehicle on Tuesday. They diagnosed and updated me after 2 hours of leaving the vehicle with them. I got the vehicle back by 5pm Tuesday evening. The vehicle runs fine! I highly recommend them!

He is extremely patient and takes the time to both listen and gather information, as well as to explain everything in the desired level of detail. A great experience all around.

Great service, very honest. Not gonna screw you out of your money. I went in because of a noise in my car, they weren't 100% sure what it was but had an idea, however they didn't think it was necessary to repair at the time. When I left the lot, the noise was gone and hasn't come back since. They could have easily replaced what they THOUGHT was wrong, but instead they checked everything else and said my car was safe to drive. They've earned another customer in me for sure.

My car broke down on the way to Raleigh from Charlotte and Modern came highly recommended by a coworker. I got my car towed there and their bays were all filled up which is a great sign but not so much when you're hoping that you can get your car back before having to drive back to Charlotte.I got a call letting me know what was wrong and that they weren't sure if they could get the parts as there was a delay in deliveries that day. I know...you're wondering if I had to stay the night or rent a car... I had to do neither of those things! An hour or two after I got the initial call, I received another call stating my car would be ready for pick up. This place does a bang up job and are very reasonably priced. No upselling or BS.Can't say enough great things... This will be the best repair experience you'll ever have.

I went to the shop just yesterday thinking I'd found a new mechanic. David listened to my needs and concerns about my VW TDI .... Im sure that he would have done the work, but he guided me to a specialist that would be more efficient with this and therefore less costly. It was so very refreshing to deal with a good soul. I immediately took his lead and believe that it's important for others to hear that Modern Service has my vote should I ever need their help. As a professional sailor, I've had my head in many engine compartments and have an intuitive sense about David's knowledge. Thank you for reaffirming my faith in the existence of good people.

The staff at Modern Service does great work. I have complete confidence that they will find out what is wrong with the car and give me the best price to fix. It is comforting to find an independent mechanic that will be honest and earn your trust. Location in downtown Cary is convenient for drop off in the morning and pickup in the evening.
