My car overheated on the highway so I pulled into the closest mechanic on google. The receptionist said they were booked until September, so I asked if they knew anyone nearby who might be able to look at it because I was stranded and needed to get home to St. Louis. She said Oh honey, I ll see what we can do and then went in back to talk to Roland. They diagnosed me, bought me a new part, and installed it within only a few hours. Very clear communication and fair pricing. The experience could not have gone any better (I mean obviously it would have been better not happening at all but you know what I mean). I don t want to send any more business to this place because they re clearly backed up as is, but I want to thank them for their kindness and courtesy.

I think the reviews speak for themselves but I want to add what a lifesaver Roland and his team were for us. We hit road debrie on the highway at 5am it was 2 batteries that exploded acid all over the bottom of the car and ripped up the shroud. We weren't sure what to do towing was going to be $750 and we wouldn't be able to attend the important funeral we were headed to. We called around when the shops opened and everyone was busy. Roland's team was also very busy but they made time to check things out.They made some on the spot repairs that would allow us to safely complete our trip and make it to the funeral. They Kind hearted good people

My dad started getting his cars fixed at Smokey Mountain Auto when I was a kid, and I've been going since I've had cars. So 22 years and counting. Roland is very thorough and honest. I have been to other mechanics when living in other states and I ended up coming back to Asheville anytime I needed service. It does take a few weeks to get in but the wait is worth getting quality work done and not being over charged. Highly recommend!

Best auto shop in wnc been in business for 30 years with I commitment in making sure the customer leaves satisfied with the work that was completed on their vehicle. if you need a vehicle inspection ask for Roland via the front office !!

The people here are honest and welcoming. Roland and James are awesome. My partner and I needed help with our car while on a road trip from Minnesota. These guys resolved the issue, treated us very well, and charged us very fairly.Also, the front desk/waiting area has a comfortable vibe. Maybe it was all the hours spent driving, but I swear that part of me wanted to *be* at this auto shop, like some people might want to be at the Cheers bar. Roland chatted with us and offered us coffee and donuts. In the short time we were there, I noticed locals would wander in to chat or help themselves to donuts while they completed some car-related errand at a calm, cheerful pace. One local pointed out some of the art on the wall -- intricate bead-murals featuring cars in pastoral settings -- saying that his wife made them as a labor of love.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have had three personal vehicles worked on at Smoky Mountain Automotive and have always been given a great service both personally and professionally. They are by far the most honest mechanics in or around Asheville. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing work done on a vehicle. He is busy, so there may be a wait to get your car in, but it is definitely worth it.

This place was very busy, however, as soon as I walked in I was helped right away. Roland was polite and inspected my car methodically and quickly, it only took 10 minutes for the entire duration! Roland has always been a blessing. He's fair on pricing, and will be honest telling you what you do or do not need. He's very thorough with his work, making sure you are safe while out on the highway. Amanda makes it such a pleasure to call, to visit while waiting in lobby, and to pay the bill.

Our family's number 1 choice for all auto repair. We have 6 cars and they service them all. They will give you advice along and have the integrity to tell you that something was wrong with your car but needs a less expensive repair than others. We trust them 100%.

I took my 96 Chevy Blazer in to get the sensor fixed in relation to the emission system. The very nice man asked me what year my car was. I told him and he informed me that the law had been changed on Oct of the previous year and that it didn't matter that the check engine light was on. It could be inspected. I was so happy! His knowledge saved me so much money!I highly recommend this company! So many others would have taken my money and not told me anything.This business has a waiting list for a reason. It's because they're honest!

Roland and the guys at the shop are the best!!! They just did an AC repair for me today and even though they are booked until the 11th of June because of their stellar reputation....he still got me in same day and gave me a super great deal on the repair and labor! I recommend this repair shop to anyone and everyone who wants a mechanic that's gonna do a 5 star job and do so in a more than timely manner! His office staff are very professional and effective as well! Amanda is right there running the show and does one heck of a great job!!!!

I have to say thank you to Roland and his crew for wonderful service. I took my car in for a couple concerns. They got a diagnosis done in half a day, despite having a backlog of repair work to do, took the time to show me what was wrong with my car, and gave me a referral to an alignment center I could trust to not overcharge me (Smokey Mtn Auto Services isn't able to do alignments). Best of all, despite the time they spent actually checking bolts and connections to make sure everything was safe to drive, they didn't charge me a dime. I really appreciate that they stuck to the appointment time frame they gave me, the friendly and helpful staff, and the money they saved me when clearly they could have taken advantage of me. You can be sure I will be going back there for any issue I have in the future. Thank you!

I've been using this shop for at least 25 years. Work is always done well and Roland always stands behind his services. You can be assured these folks will not take advantage. They keep you informed and never sell anything you do not need. I can't rate this business high enough.

Having recently moved from Tucson Arizona to Asheville NC, I needed to find an auto garage to repair some prior brake issues I had with my 10 year old Elantra. Smokey Mountain Auto Services was conveniently located next to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant just below where I currently reside. Although they were booked up for a couple of weeks, I decided to wait upon the needed repairs. Upon arrival, the shop does not impress you with a fancy exterior. However I have learned over the years to judge a business not by its looks, but by the quality and value of their repair knowledge. Upon prior discussion and authorization they replaced the front brake pads, rotors and installed a new sway bar on my Elantra. The work was was professionally completed in a respectable manner for what I believe was a more then fair price.Based upon my personal experience I can highly recommended the services of this garage and would not hesitate to return for all my service needs.Service: Steering & suspension repair

They saved the day for us! Our truck started having issues so we pulled off on the exit We had a truck full of furniture. They determined it was a bad alternator. They fixed it while we had lunch! Was on my way out to Wilmington with my mom for vacation when our brake line when out. We were taken care of right away and made sure we were safe before heading out. They were busy but still made time for us so we could get back on the road on the same day. Truly blessed and thankful for their service! Highly recommend!

Incredibly helpful, honest, and accommodating. I legitimately can not recommend this place highly enough.I'm always nervous when it comes to auto shops. I know nothing about cars, and I know that makes me an easy target to scam. Here though, I got phone updates and good advice every step of the way, and in the end was given a detailed explanation of the problem and how it would be fixable, but was advised of how might not be worth the expense to do so and why. They were patient with me and held my car while I made other arrangements, even though I know they have limited space and that that was probably a nuisance. The customer service and care was just completely on point.

Had an accident while on vacation. Blessed to chance upon Smokey Mountain Auto Service. They checked car immediately and repaired enough for safe drive back to NY that same morning. I was a prime candidate to be ripped off but immediately knew I was in good hands. Also gave me detailed notes for my mechanic so he could follow up and match parts for what they had fixed. If you live in the area I would say don't go any where else. Honest, kind, and excellent work. I am externally grateful.

I called about getting some work done and the woman that answered was very rude and wouldn t even let me finish what I had to say instead she started on we are full for the next two weeks instead of letting me finish I was going to say that was fine I can wait instead she was very rude and lost my business and any further business from me. I went to school for automotive and I would of done all the work myself but I don t have a press or I would of she was very unprofessional and I will never use or recommend this place to anyone ever again!! Customer service is key to haveing a great business the manager of this place needs to learn it before she answers the phone.

A Great Mechanic and Friend! When I was in a pickle he took time to talk to me on the phone and even called a locksmith for me so I could avoid having my car towed to him. When we do need a Mechanic he solves our problems He is honest, intelligent, and a hard-worker! A top notch business!

Roland was my employer for over year. He stood by me as times took a toll on my family. Even after giving notice, He wanted me to stay. Roland has a huge heart. He was tough on me but stood by me. If you have the opportunity to be a technian with his shop , Keep it. He is worth it. Sad because I am gone. But learned from him more than any one I have meet. Peace
