My Tahoe s transmission went out on me literally a mile away from the Chevy dealership on hwy 64 and 5 miles from Apex Transmission. I called Chevy and asked for a breakdown of the process to replace but got the impression that the tech I spoke to was just checking the boxes with his responses. Yea it will be new but same parts yeah theres a problem with the metal used but hopefully the transmission doesn t use the same metals . Not really reassuring to me.I googled transmission repair and Apex transmission popped up. I called and spoke with Ryan. First things first, the level of technical proficiency he has related to transmissions was impressive. I ended up limping my Tahoe over to Apex transmission solely because of the phone conversation with Ryan.Having someone explain the benefits of better parts rather than a transmission swap was the deal sealer for me.It took a bit longer than expected but got the Tahoe back. While it was there they also looked at some other things for me and took care of those.After picking it up there were some codes that were still popping up and rather than Apex Transmission dismissing them as not their issue because of these performance parts, Ryan was committed to getting my ride right.It s always easy to dismiss customers concerns with mechanical jargon, or that s how it is , but what separates good companies from bad ones is the pride that they take in their work and their commitment to their craft regardless of cost. Dumping money into your car isn t a good feeling especially if you don t feel it s fixing a problem but dumping money into that same car when you have the confidence it was done right like they did is priceless.Thanks guys.

They were amazing, when I went to drop off my truck that just lost 2 gears, I got there right when they were closing, Dan the owner stayed back just to make sure I'm checked in and the vehicle is properly dropped off. Very friendly and helpful. Afterwards I dealt with Ryan who was also great, very friendly and helpful, he was able to tell me everything as it needed to be and didn't try to push for anything more, made sure I was comfortable with the other items my truck has issues with (most of the work I perform myself, just can't rebuild a transmission or engine).Honestly highly recommended, and their prices were the cheapest of all the places I called.

Took my car here at the recommendation of a friend to have the transmission rebuilt. About 4 weeks later I got the car back and could tell something wasn t right. Took it back in and they had to rebuild it again. Another 4 weeks no car. A few months ago the car started acting up again. Transmission AGAIN. Got about 16 months out of the rebuild. Don t waste your money.

Ryan and his team are outstanding. Did a transmission service and timing belt. They do good work at a fair price. When we had an issue after picking up our vehicle Ryan didn't argue just took fixed the problem.Services: Transmission, Oil changeServices: Transmission, Oil change

Happened 3-4 years ago but merit still holds. Left my car over the weekend for transmission inspection and upon picking it up there was condensation all over my interior. Clearly my door or window was left open overnight. Funny because I came here because of the reviews. Never again.

Bought a vehicle at auction close by and it needed a transmission rebuild, took it to Ryan and got the most affordable price I could find in the area. I was coming from another state and he made it easy and convenient to stay in contact, process payment over the phone and have the transportation company pick up for me. Not only that but he did an amazing job, was 10% transplant about fees and other charges and did not hesitate to work around my schedule. Thank you Ryan! Unfortunately they are quite busy and it may he you have to wait for appointment time for weeks. But these guys are real mechanics, not large component changers and wiling to help you rather than want to have all your money.

In 2014, my son's 2001 Honda Civic was towed here from a dealership who wanted to charge $4000 for a new transmission as they would not repair it. This shop, due to their expertise, advised it was most likely a certain part that commonly went bad. They were right and repaired it for a very reasonable cost. Now in 2023, this car is still going strong! I haven't forgotten how fair and honest they were/are and thus this review. Many thanks!Service: Transmission

Small issue with transmission, had it towed there. They were busy and said it might take a week. In the meantime, uncle YouTube told me how to probably fix it, so I thought I'd just go over and get it. Jokes on me - they had already fixed it before 10 the next morning! I really was hoping that my first experience was better. Specifically asked for a pump seal replacement, but they decided to perform additional services without my approval or even a phone call to discuss. Disappointed in their lack of communication.

I went in with little to no knowledge of what was going on with my car, other than rough shifting and worryingly loud thuds.I took my car in Monday morning, and I got a call back from the mechanic himself by noon the next day! He was able to diagnose the problem and other additional problems I might need to address. He even was supportive when I inquired about doing the mount replacement myself(I work on my car quite a bit).And he did all of this at no cost. Absolutely amazing experience.

Highly recommend! Called around getting quotes on a rebuild and right away could tell they knew what they were doing. Ryan quickly quoted me and expressed familiarity with my vehicle (200k+ mile Toyota). They scheduled me quickly, communicated the repairs, and had it back to me before the estimated completion date. Had Apex Transmissions rebuild the 5R55 transmission in my 2003 Ford Explorer. They did a great job and had it back to me within 1 week with a list of the new parts installed and it shifted like new again. Ryan kept me updated and the overall price was fair considering the amount of work and labor to have this removed and installed to perform the rebuild. Recommended.Service: Transmission

As a local business owner, we decided to use Apex transmission to rebuild a transmission in our F250. They replaced it for a reasonable price. After 7 months we started having issues with the transmission and returned. They found the problem and fixed it under warranty without an issue. This business is by FAR, the most affordable and accommodating shop in the area. They saved me at least $500, in comparision to many other quotes I received; and because Ryan was so understanding of my circumstances, he was able to pull some strings, to have my car ready a week ahead of schedule. I am so grateful for their service and the experience. Trustworthy and quality shops are hard to come by, so if you're questioning where to take your vehicle, look no further. They are the best around and you won't regret having to spend your hard earned money here!

I have been bringing my vehicles here for quite a while. Ryan goes out of his way to do anything he can for you and to explain everything in detail. He and his team are very knowledgeable. Very friendly and honest, they do great work at a great price. I've had a transmission rebuilt and major engine work done here and with the service I've received I would not take my vehicles anywhere else.

Ryan and his team offer amazing customer service and go above and beyond to make sure your car needs are met. I brought my truck transmission here to get rebuilt and they gave me a very fair price and an awesome customer experience. They had it back to me very quick and gave me alot of awesome tips on putting it back in, and further maintenance. They explained to me everything they were doing to it and how to adjust it when it was in. Very professional and they did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them.Service: Transmission

I called them to schedule a drop off date/time for my wife's Kia Soul, the gentleman asked what was wrong with the car and so I proceeded to explain the codes that it was showing, a knock sensor code and a cylinder 1 code, (engine work). I was told that they are just a transmission repair shop. What a great service from the owner Danny, the manager Ryan and their friendly staff ?!! I reached out for help with my 2018 Chevy Suburban transmission. The dealership off of US 64 in Cary had diagnosed my vehicle with a need of new transmission for the cost of the very modest $5000!!!. According to them, the transmission is in so bad of a shape, it cannot be rebuilt. I looked for a second opinion, and the Apex Transmissions folks quoted me whole 2K less, but not only that. They did their due diligence and diagnosed my car on their own. It end up, my Suburban was in a need for new inner and outer pinion bearings. Absolutely not related to new transmission! The cost for parts and labor, $900! Now, I feel grateful for the honest service at Apex Transmissions and really upset at the Chevy dealership in Cary. Terrific service! I needed a new transmission for my 05 Acura and Apex transmission delivered the goods! These guys are first rate! Ryan was my point of contact. He is extremely knowledgeable, and will give you the straight goods on what your car needs. They do all general automotive repairs as well as transmissions. Their pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended! Been going there for over 15 years. Very good customer service. Very few places are trusted with my car and this is definitely one of them. Just had my transmission rebuilt there about a week ago and they had the best price of anyone in the area.
