This parking lot for about 5 cars (free of charge and rarely crowded) provides access to the Raymond Brook Ski Trail, one of the classic Adirondack ski tours since the 1930s. This is an ungroomed, unpatrolled backcountry ski trail that terminates at Route 28. The trail climbs gradually, then descends 1,100 feet over about four miles. It can be skied using telemark gear (with climbing skins) or metal edged backcountry skis, but intermediate skills are needed. The parking lot at the Route 28 terminus is often unplowed (requiring you to park on a busy highway) and the final few hundred yards are very steep and often icy. A better alternative is to take the connecting trail to the North Creek Ski Bowl, lengthening the trip by a mile of rolling terrain and providing a safer place to park your car.
