I was almost going to die! The breaking system failed after full break service costing me $2500!!!Super disappointed with the result actually, i had to redo all the work they did in another shop as they messed up my breaking system.After replacing front and rear rotors, drums, pads, caliper etc, i brought back my car to them after a few days with a whining noise coming from rear left. I told them i had the service a few days ago and this noise is not normal.They checked the car and told me there may be rust at the bearing making this noise and they have to keep the car to clean it for another $165 I felt like there is something wrong and i wanted to take my car to a Competent mechanic The next morning on my way to the mechanic, in the midtown tunnel, when i pushed the break pedal, it went all the way down with no break!!I could barely reach out to the mechanic in Long Island City.Now i am waiting the car to get repaired and i will have to go after Pep Boys for my money and for them not to do the same to anyone else again!!!

When Pep Boys told you the sensor was dirty and they cleaned and if engine light turn back on, bring it back to replace the four sensors and that will fix it, never going back to that place ever again!!!

Went in for a simple new tires installation. Came out with damaged axle and brake pad. Mechanic claims the vehicle arrived with those issues. Yet they installed the tires and never informed me of any damage axles or brake pad. I notice a problem as I was driving away, the axle was knocking on the front left side. What makes this situation crazy is i just had the car fully inspected by Mercedes. The only issue they found was I needed new tires. Figured I ll go to pep boys to save some money rather than do it at the dealership. I was gonna bring the inspection report back to pep boys but I figured it wouldn t change anything and I ll just be wasting my time. My only guess is they somehow accidentally damaged the axle and brake pad or it was purposely done for me to spend more money on repairs. This is my speculation. One thing I learn, never take my vehicle to pep boys for any services.

Prpboys is a good place but need to improve the store it looks a bit abandoned. Waiting room look bad broken chairs and peeling paint etc. Overall service is good and repair good. Need more of selection of tires for cars would be nice. Looks like they ran out of stock. It is a good place overall

I wanted to say thank you again to Stephen for listening to my concerns and finding a solution that made sense for both parties. I left satisfied and very grateful. The reason it s not a 5 star is because of the wait time. I was there for nearly 3 hours. It wasn t busy when I arrived so not sure why it took so long. I came in for an inspection and to change 1 tire. But still overall a great experience

My office is down the street so this location is incredibly convenient when I drive in to work and need something fixed or inspected. This week I brought my car in after an alternator that was installed at a different Pep Boys location wasn't working correctly. Stephen was incredibly helpful and patient while reviewing my situation. The part and labor was under warranty so I was able to get the alternator replaced and fixed the same day. Sadly they pointed out that some damage had been done by the other Pep Boys location to one of the threads for the alternator and the electrical connection. I'll never know how much truth there is to this cuz I intend to never go back to that other location. I've had nothing but positive experiences at the Long Island City location though.

The staff were polite. The waiting was difficult but it was worth it. I would recommend this Pep Boys. It's close to Dunkin Donuts and Burger King if you have to wait. There is also some other places. I stood and waited inside in a nice and spacious area with a television just wish they had water or a venting machine. No matter what I give them 5 extra stars because they explained everything and worked with you.

They didn't do a good job on the alignment. I had one of the upper control arm replaced on my truck and alignment people have to correct it and they said we don't do that. Even though that is alignment people job. I will think twice going back to pep Boys.

A large parking areaTimetable is always ready and availble at weekends.Explain perfectly what need to repair and why they need to be fixed.My office has 2 cars serviced by Pep Boys.It is the destination for your car!

There are no parts at this store anymore. Just tires and service. Only NAPA is left in Astoria for parts. Service pricing is not competitive at all. Tire swaps here for winter to summer set or summer to winter are double what tire shops in the area want. Over $130 to mount and balance my winter tires. Some shops will include the alignment for $130 or less. They do have nice sales on Cooper tires. Sometimes they advertise buy 2 get two. Otherwise, there's not much left of what it used to be relied on for.

Called and stop by because my check engine light came on.No problem checking in and was given a time frame when car can be look at. Afterwards, service needed was explain with ETA for the work to be done.The staff was friendly and courteous.

Had a Low tire pressure alert in my car, ended up taking it here to get checked out and to get new tires. The staff was really friendly, but I ended up having to take my car back 3 times to finally get it resolved though .

I would suggest avoiding PepBoys. I ran over a nail that would cause rapid loss of air. I used an emergency air pump compressor to get enough air in my tire to make it � miles to this PepBoys. They told me another tire had a bubble so I had to replace two tires. They replaced the two tires and all was right with the world. Except it wasn t. They put a wrong size on the front passenger size. It caused the car to pull to the left, the TPMS malfunction, and the traction control system thought one tire was over spinning. The result was the car would not rapidly accelerate properly. Normally I wouldn t be concerned about it, except when I m getting on the highway with my three kids in the car, an 18-wheeler is barreling down the highway and my car won t accelerate.I went to the VW dealership to have the car diagnosed, and they informed me the wrong size tire was put on. I spoke with the service manager at the dealership and he told me horror stories of this PepBoys trying to rip people off.

Had my tires replaced and started feeling vibrations that I never had at 65 mph. Also I got a flat after a month later and the mechanic couldn't take the tire off because at pepeboys they tightened the lock lug too tight. I had to take it back to pb were they had to lube all 4 lugs because all were lock tight, all very frustrating for just new tires.

Had a great experience getting an inspection and oil change here. Very easy process and friendly staff. They recommended a bunch of things that weren t really necessary but made clear I didn t need those things to pass inspection. Would recommend!

This site is terrible. I had to bring my car 3 times for the same problem within a month.The front desk are terrible with customers they give you attitude right after you ask for an explanation of why they can make the repairs at the first visit.

I recently had my breaks and rotors replaced at PepBoys and had a great experience thanks to Chris! As someone like myself who knows very little about cars, he was very helpful in walking me through the services and costs and even helped add on an oil change and NY state inspection to ensure everything could be completed same day (despite having just made an appt that morning). It was also a quick drive over to LIC from Manhattan - about 30 mins. I will definitely be returning to PepBoys for any car services going forward!

First time getting tires from Pep Boys . Chris at the front desk was very humble and respectful and he helped me get the perfect tires for my car . Henry installed my tires and he did an amazing job and he also was very helpful kind and respectful . Will be coming back for my next tires . Also they took my car in right away upon arrival .

I see a lot of people had bad experience here, but I hate to say I had a great experience! The staff was helpful prior to my visit, (phone call), and just as helpful on site. If you want to buy parts, it's easy, however, if you have to have them install, it might a chore. I suggest you use this place to buy only, if waiting for installation is not your thing. They have a wide variety of parts, and place is well maintained. Will definitely shop here again--hopefully, the service is repeated; it's a true mark of a well-run business.

It is truly sad what happened to this Pep Boys. I used to come here all the time for oil changes and alignments. Sadly things have gone down the hill very badly. Twice now, work not done as promised and in my opinion lies, lies and more lies. This place feels like it is run by a mob.

The good thing about this place is it's near my home, & they work pretty fast. I asked about testing a car battery & they do for $16 (which is outrageous) & the battery has to be in the car. So that means tow the car there (dumb). Batteries can be tested outside the car. Also when I had work done someone stole my brand new pack of costco razors out my car. So beware valuables may get stolen

Happy to take your money. No attention to details like putting oil caps back on, getting all their tools out of your engine compartment, or even keeping their stories straight. I m a patient and courteous person, but that got me nowhere when I asked them to complete the job I paid for. Had to repair their mistakes myself and was declined a refund on a $20 install fee (on a $500+ total bill). Seem like nice enough guys, but just don t care enough to do the right thing. Hope this was a one-off if they want to keep the lights on.
