I went to Tom's Brakes because I heard a lot of squeaking on my car. He told me that they didn't need replacement; it was pretty new, and they just needed time to break in. He's the most honest mechanic I have ever met.

Nice understanding owner. Came here after being denied by West John auto who was too busy to help repair busted tail lights to dismiss a fix-it ticket. West John Auto reviews probably many fakes.Tom's fixed me up within a few hours with reasonable pricing. Definitely reccomend coming here.Not sure if Rosemary is his wife but she was at the office front and even offered to give me a ride to work 5 minutes away in the morning when I dropped off the car for repairs. So overall nice people. Which is a pleasure with most mechanics being less than friendly knowing most of the time customers come desperate.

Great experience going to TOM s. Reliable and trustworthy service. I had to get my car serviced, tire plugged and a brake light ordered and replaced. Work was done efficiently. My favorite Auto repair shop by far!!! Tommy and crew provide fast, friendly, and honest service at a very reasonable price. They treat your car like its their own. The technicians are top notch. They stand by their work, without the ridiculous dealership run-around & attitude. I've been a client since they've opened. (Over 25 years now).

An absolutely honest Auto guy, which is rare!!! You know how you usually go to car services and they tell you how many other things are wrong with your car, Tom is not that person you go in and he'll honestly tell you if everything is good with car he would never charge you or tell you anything extra. I went to another guy around the area and was told I had to do a $600 work on my car while Tom said there was nothing wrong and i only had to get an oil change for car. Best place for your car!

I've been going to Toms break an auto repair shop for years. I never had a problem until recently. He repaired said problem but I was having the same issue a week later. I called him made an appointment did this two times. Both times at his shop he had no room for me to park my car and he had no time to look at my car. Even though I set an appointment with him. Long story short I took it to the dealer for a proper repair no problem since. I will not be going back to Tom's he's unorganized and I guess once he got my money he didn't care.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

Absolutely NOT recommended. I would give zero stars if it were possible. I went here on a recommendation from a coworker, told the owner exactly what was wrong with my car and he still did nothing. He kept the car for a week, never did any work to it and never even drove it! What mechanic doesn't even drive a car that he's fixing? How can you know what's wrong with a car if you don't drive it? He never called either, I would have to call throughout the week to see what was going on, which was nothing. After about a week, I had enough and told him I was coming to get the car. He complained that he doesn't "store cars for free" and then charged me $150+ for doing absolutely nothing. Avoid this place at all costs! On top of the fact that he's sneaky and incompetent, he's a very nasty, miserable old man. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.Edit: Just saw the response from the merchant, so here's my response: To clarify, I did NOT mistakenly leave this review for the wrong shop. The review above is for Tom's Brakes in Hicksville, NY - there's no confusion here. Additionally, I don't know where the idea that I had been to several different shops before going to Tom's came from, as I had never stated that in my original review, nor had I told the owner that. I mentioned that the battery and alternator were fairly new, not that I had been to several different shops. If you drop off a car on a Saturday morning and pick it up on a Friday evening, that's not three days. Besides being completely incompetent as a mechanic, this guy clearly has no concept of simple math. Everyone is entitled to make money and I have no problem paying for services rendered, but I do have a problem when someone is dishonest and sneaky and there is a complete lack of communication. I will not be calling to discuss my concerns further, as I have no desire to do business with this shop ever again.

It s hard to find a honest and decent mechanic. But this guy is just that Won t play games, won t over charge or sell you a bunch of unnecessary stuff, just a great mechanic for a decent price. I ve been in Hicksville a few years and I went to 2 or 3 guys before him and Tom is by far the best. Thanks Tom!!!

If you live in the Hicksville or around Hicksville. This is is place to go. I trust Tom on all my cars. I always want to know my cars are being taken cared of properly and fixed correctly. Tom and his team are very knowledge in what they do. They'll even tell how things work in any part of your car that needs work. I would go to Tom's than anyone else. He has very reasonable pricing. If you have problem trusting new mechanics on your car. You wouldn't need to worry with this shop.Been going to this shop for 2 years now.

I stopped by during my drive west early this morning to have my blinker light bulbs and DRL light bulb replaced. Tom took my car in right away and went straight to work. He was very pleasant to do business with and even bought me coffee ! That 5th star is from the coffee addict in me. This Tom and Jerry got along well and I highly recommend! Thank you Tom!

I own a tesla X and I was ready for my first car inspection. I didn t know where to go. I found this place and went based on the reviews. Their service was excellent. They were very courteous and prompt. They got me in and out with no waiting time. I am very satisfied.

As a woman, I often wonder if places will take advantage of me thinking I don't know any better. Not at Tom's. I was treated with respect & got an honest evaluation of what was wrong with my car. I've been coming here for years for everything from oil changes to tires, inspections, minor repairs & even body repair when my car was in an accident.

Great guy, car had to be towed here early in the morning when it was still closed and still got the job done as soon as I could pick up the car after my weird work hours. Highly recommend!
