Our stay here was very spontaneous. The generalEnglish at the front desk was kind and very polite. Surprisingly the property didn t smell like a historic building. I found the place tone very cozy and romantic during an unexpected spring snowstormRooms: Room were very classic. Loved every aspect. Floor creaked when you walked in them. Bed was spacious plenty of room. Amazingly the rooms didn t smell like a historic establishment.Nearby activities: Baseball Hall of fameWalkability: Close to everythingNoteworthy details: This is a historic establishment. Historic memorabilia are every where. Could it be better yes but it would lose what personality it has. Looking forward to another stay

I was staying one night for work. The room was really cold. When my husband said something, the person at the desk said that the heat isn't turned on upstairs until it's colder out. The day we were there was mid December. It was too difficult to sleep. At 2 am we asked for extra blankets which they brought to our room right away. It would have been a nice stay otherwise.

This building was built in 1802, which is definitely cool, but when your floor is slanted and the head of your bed is 3-4 inches lower than your feet, that is not cool. There is no elevator and they would not assist with bags. There is never anyone at the front desk-you have to pick up a phone and call the manager (owner?). Room and bathroom was clean. Only mini-blinds on the windows, so no black-out curtains. There is a lunch/dinner restaurant in the basement that had good food. The best thing about this place is location, location, location! Walking distance to the Baseball Hall of Fame, restaurants, and shops. 17 rooms in the hotel, but only 9 parking spaces, so if you get one, don t move it because you may lose it. Would not stay there again because no elevator.

First and foremost, you can't beat the location. It's perfect. Near food, shopping, and the hall of fame. And it has parking. So all of that is great. But on the flipside the hotel isn't great. A bit rundown, right on the line between quaint and off-putting. Not dirty but not clean either. For the price I don't know that you can do a lot better in the area but I personally wouldn't stay there again unless I didn't have any other options at least until they do some renovations.

Delicious, fluffy gluten free buns are available for the sandwiches! The lemon herb stir fry is also gluten free but I only had room for one meal - and it was fantastic! We definitely didn't go away hungry! Our waitress was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious, and the chef cooked all my food separately to make sure there was no chance of cross contamination. We're definitely eating here again next time we're in Cooperstown!Nearby activities: National Baseball Hall of Fame, Farmer's Museum and Market, Fenimore Museum, shops, bakeries, etc.Safety: The restaurant is downstairs and the staff great when cooking for those with food allergies!Food & drinks: Gluten free options are available! They have fluffy, tasty sandwich buns instead of those heavy ones that taste funny. Large portions for a reasonable price.

$170 for a room that hasn t been updated since at least the late 1990 s?You re staying here for one reason: the hall of fame is a block away. But for what I paid for one night, there are several things that need to be addressed by management:If you re going to put the cheapest cable possible in the rooms, the least you could do is update the television to a modern smart TV. Everybody has something on their phone they could stream to a modern television.Streaming will be impossible however since the WiFi at the inn is useless beyond the lobby. An old air conditioner in the knee-high window at the foot of my bed that could not be adjusted from blowing in my face all night.I cannot comment on the food since we chose to eat dinner at the nearby Lake Front Hotel for dinner. That was very good.As for coffee and breakfast: the Stagecoach Cafe across the street was excellent, which is good since the Tunnicliff doesn t have so much as as Keurig in the lobby. It s too overpriced for the bare bones amenities provided. It s a lovely enough old house, but a little more money put into the rooms and amenities would make the asking price at the Tunnicliff Inn perfectly acceptable.Rooms: Old, out of date.Needs a smart tv and better WiFi.For parents of little kids, bring some dvd s. My room had a little dvd player in it.

Restaurant is a joke. Way too expensive for the quality and amount of food. Ordered $20 burgers and they wanted to charge extra for lettuce, onions, and tomatoes really??? Fries were trash and almost non-existent. Service was slow too. Sat for 20 minutes before even taking our order. I cannot speak to the hotel but stay the heck away from the restaurant for sure!!!

I had lunch here during a trip to Cooperstown. They offered an $8.00 lunch which my husband and I took a chance on. We were so happy with our choices. My cheeseburger was perfect and the fries are addictive, super crispy outside. The shrimp bisque was tasty along with a half sandwich. Ruth was gracious and attentive server and we enjoyed a lovely quiet lunch.

This was the worst meal of my whole vacation. I ordered the stir fry and it was just microwave rice with microwave vegetables and chicken. Not even any soy sause for $23. My husband's cajun hamburger was cooked fine, but it was just cheese and bbq sause, so not really cajun. The added $4 for fries was the worst, as they were freezer fries.

Staff a very friendly! Location is right off main strip and makes everything easy to get too. parking is available but there is also a lot of off street parking. Older building so keep that in mind. Everyone complained about the stairs but I thought they were fine...maybe because I am used to growing up in an old house. Everything was clean!! The staff were helpful but didn't overly hover and it is much more like a bed and breakfast. Will be staying again when we come out!! The room was slanted but didn't impact our stay at all. Really enjoyed our weekend get a way.

Tom was wonderful at every encounter. He was very accommodating even when a sudden change to our schedule came up.The food at the restaurant was very filling and the staff was just as friendly and warm. The location was phenomenal for the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Very close to everything in town.Definitely the place to stay for Hall of Fame weekend.

Chicken tenders used in every meal. It is a tourist town but food should not lose it standards when season over.

We visited last year and I thought I had written a review, but can't find it anywhere, so here it is. Visited in fall 2020 and loved the quaint little town. Location was perfect and we were in the center of town, with tight but off-street parking. The house is old as expected (the floor in our room was even a little slanted), but clean and charming. The staff was outstanding. My boyfriend left his windbreaker in the closet and called them about it on the off chance that they can help mail it back. I didn't think anything could be done, but the guy on the other end agreed to help (sorry I forgot your name!) -- I think he said that he couldn't mail it back immediately but would send it off the next week on his normal round to the post office. Surely enough, we received the package a little bit later. A long overdue thank you to the staff at Tunnicliff Inn!

My husband and I ate at the restaurant, we did not stay at the inn. Typical bar/restaurant food. I had chicken fingers and he had a shrimp po boy. He was disappointed the shrimp was grilled instead of fried, but I was happy because he didn't need fried food. The food was fine. It was fresh. We were most impressed with the very good service we received. Lledamccurtywrites.com

Nice quiet out of the way place. Great service. I had a burger. Excellent. Wife had a chicken club sandwich. Was excellent as well. Very quiet for a Friday night. And yea - the stairs from the sidewalk DOWN are steep. I had a hip replacement 10 months ago - I had no trouble whatsoever.

What a lovely place!!! Everything needed was provided and the people were very hospitable. The free breakfast was perfect. If you wanted something made by order, it was done. We had some mini pancakes. They offered a continental breakfast first, then the hot food following. The inn has a rustic feel and was cozy. The room was clean, Love that. Like I said, my mom and I couldn t have had a better experience.

The bathrooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, the staff was very nice and the breakfast was very satisfying. The inn was very close to everything in town, only a block from the Baseball Hall of Fame. If you like the comfort of a bed and breakfast, you will be very happy. We will stay here again if we ever return to Cooperstown.

Great location, friendly staff, and quite affordable! The Tunnicliff Inn is located right off of Main Street, well within walking distance to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Doubleday Field. All of the staff I talked to were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms have cable TV, and the hotel has WiFi. They serve hot and cold breakfast every morning. Since it is a small hotel, the food is freshly made and very good quality. There is a restaurant underneath that serves lunch and dinner, which is delicious! There are a couple caveats. I'm not sure if they offer rooms for more than two people. And the rooms are up one or two flights of stairs; there is no elevator. However, these were no problem for my husband and I, and we had a great couple nights staying here!

Great old building with loads of history. Be aware that parking is limited and it's a 200+ year old building. Floors are uneven, steps are steep and you hear creaks. Breakfast was perfect, made to order from selections. Close to lake and hall of fame.

If you're are looking for 5 star comfort this is not for you. But if you want a 5 star location with comfortable accommodations this is the place. Friendly staff. Walking distance to the Hall of Fame and many wonderful restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice well run 200+ year old inn right in the Heart of Cooperstown. Walking distance to Hall of Fame, many shops, restaurants and local distillery. Take in mind, if you can't do steps, or a small bathroom and shower isn't for you then book a chain hotel. For my wife and I the Tunnicliff worked great and the included made to order and choices for breakfast was a great bonus, way better than any chain type hotel. Will definitely use again, when back in Cooperstown.

We went to the restaurant beneath the Tunnicliff Inn last night, and it was pretty good. I got the A+BLT, and my boyfriend got the kielbasa special. We were both satisfied with our meals. The service was great, although there was only one waiter working. The place was nice, a little dark, but nice. Prices were reasonable. Definitely would recommend.

We went in for the Tuesday night dinner specials. There is a menu with a few different choices of meals each at $7.00, it's not too bad, you get what you pay for. I think the server could use a little more training. Upon arrival there was no salt on our table which we don't use so it was fine. Well at the point my dinner date was finished and I was finishing up the waitress comes to the table and stretches across my plate and the table to place the salt shaker in the condiment holder. It was a complete turn off. The meal was clearly finished, so it could have waited at that point. So, it is what it is, not terrible but not great.

Well maintained older inn with lots of character! We enjoyed our stay in a very comfortable room, with WiFi, cable tv, coffee maker and lots of plugs! The buffet breakfast was very good...my eggs Benedict was delicious as was my husband's Belgium waffles! Sylvia, our morning breakfast lady was friendly, efficient and a big asset to the Tunnicliff Inn.Right off main road in the center of town, it was a perfect location

A very nice B&B just 500 feet from the Hall of Fame. We had a king suite which was very large and quite comfortable. The place is well kept and has a great free hot breakfast buffet. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
