It was highly recommended.However, it took them to the sixth day to tell me what I needed. I was very frustrated. They told me they've been short-handed and split between their old shop and the new one they're starting up. Guess I might give them another chance if I don't find someone else if needed in the future.

I am so grateful for Allen and the many times he has supported my Mitsubishi needs. He s always so careful and pays great attention detail. I am someone who always researched other prices and Allen always gives me the best deal. Highly recommend!

So thankful my neighbor recommended them to me! I was in quite a bind coming back from a being out of town for a few days to a totally dead car. They were able to squeeze me in to assess my car same day and gave me very reasonable estimates for the repairs. I also appreciated how they explained the repairs I needed for the car. Top notch customer service, will definitely come back and recommend to others.

I wrote a review 5 years ago that was 5 stars.After 5 years of working with Japanese Car Care, my review stays the same, 5 stars.They're the best. I trust them, they're up front about estimates and costs. They give good recommendations and they're trustworthy. We'll be taking our vehicles here and will continue to take our vehicles here.We've had work mundane like oil changes, all the way up to catalytic converter being stolen (Darn you Albuquerque Crime!). They've done tremendous work on both our Automatic Honda Odyssey and our Manual Honda Element.We appreciate your services and I'm happy to bring my business here!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection

*** Notice how they won't respond to my review like they do to the 4 star reviews!!! I didn't lie. Just telling you to be aware of what they do to some of us!!!They don't have a 0 to rate them, so I can't give them 0 stars. I originally brought the car in to replace the serpentine belt as it was causing the alternator to not charge the car.(visit#1). After installation, the next day, the new belt started cutting and breaking apart. They recommended a P/S pump was causing the belt to cut, so they replaced it(visit#2). Then after the belt cut again, they suggested a balancer, so they replaced it(visit #3) And less than a year later and approx. 3000 miles later, it was leaking a lot through a p/s hose. They charged me $730 for a hose, another belt(the forth they replaced), and p/s fluid, for the last visit, and close to $2000 dollars for 4 trips to their shop. They don't stand by their work. I have the papers to prove what they replaced, in the 4 visits. The guy was being rude and told me I didn't bring it in 4 times. He talked down to me and wouldn't even consider discounting anything for getting it wrong at least 3 times! And their estimate paperwork is deceiving. The estimate didn't look like the repair paperwork. It was a lot more $ than it appeared to be at first. It was my fault for not asking in person. I thought it was going to be way less by the online estimate that I saw.I will tell all of my network and at work, and make sure everyone knows how they treat customers! No Japanese Car Care for us, all of my friends, family and anyone I share my bad experience with! The young guys were nice and friendly. The older guy is a jerk and doesn't treat others well!Service: Steering & suspension repair

Always honest Always dependable. As a single woman it's hard to find a place that isn't going to try and screw you over because of your gender.Well this place has always done me and the clients I've recommended right!If there is a wait that's because their good!

Update: 1/11/2024: After 7 years of taking my car here they are still fantastic and always willing to help me out!! They have always done excellent honest work and I trust no one else to take my car.I Took my car here to get a pre-purchase inspection done and I am very glad I did! Both the seller and I knew the condition of the car was very good but I wanted to have it looked at anyway, just to be safe. Ben and his fantastic mechanics did a compression test on the car and found one of the cylinders was bad (which me and the seller could not have known). Nothing else was seriously wrong with the car but this information really saved my wife and I from buying a troublesome car. The staff was very nice and answered all my questions thoroughly!!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. They take good care of our high mileage Toyota, and always at a fair price. So far so great!!The employees and mechanics are super nice and they seem to be very honest and knowledgeable. Glad to have found an honest shop that also specializes in Japanese cars and would work on mine (some have refused because of all the modifications).I had my whole clutch rebuilt by them a while back but the rear main seal they used ended up being bad and I was leaking oil, so they did it again!Very happy that they stand behind their work and were willing to make sure I walked away the job done right.They're not cheap, but I think their rate was pretty fair and the end cost was very close to what I was quoted in the beginning as well.

BEWARE. Brought my car in for repair, got an estimate, then a couple of days later I received an updated estimate from Japanese Car Care for the exact same job except this time, for hundreds of dollars more. Of course I wondered why the estimate jumped in price for both parts & labor in just a couple of days for the same exact job.When I asked questions about the price increase, their employee was not only rude, uncooperative, and belittling, he also accused me of insurance fraud (a felony). He also said he would release my car (unfixed) for me to tow it away, as well as charge me for completing an estimate.A customer has the right to ask questions about a price increase. And especially without being accused of a crime. The lack of customer service (it felt more like a customer attack)is shameful and mind boggling.I never thought to check reviews, but i can see this pattern of intimidation and retaliation towards customers based on how Japanese car care replies to negative reviews. I hope this transparent, honest review of my actually horrible experience at Japanese Car Care will not trigger their staff to attack me further or reveal personal information about myself or my car as they have with other negative reviews.There are plenty of shops and mechanics in Albuquerque - trust me, ANY other shop would be better than this place. Run.

I wanna give this shop a shout out for helping me out! My truck broke down on the interstate (I'm not from NM) and the first place I brought it to was giving me the run around. Everywhere else I called was booked out for weeks. So was this place- but the guy on the phone suggested me another quality shop that ended up helping me out. That is great honesty to pass on a big job to another shop. Before we got off the phone, he was willing to work with me if the place he suggested didnt work out. So I cant speak to the quality of work at this shop, but I can speak to the professionalism and honesty and top-notch customer service. Thank you!

I have been a customer since the middle 80s. Always good and reliable service. They now have a way to send a link to pictures of what they found during inspection of the vehicle for any problems.

They've worked on my car 2-3 times now and all my experiences with them have been excellent.This last time they changed the oil/filter & air filter and changed out the spark plugs per my request.The car is running much smoother and quieter now with the new plugs. We bought an old clunker, and Japanese Car Care has helped to get her running right. We are very very pleased with their work, we trust when they give us an estimate it's for valid problems, and they have our car running beautifully! Their staff is a pleasure to work with. After I arrived without an appointment, Eric came right out to investigate my check engine light. The code indicated a catalytic converter problem.After replying yes to his question about whether I do lots of short trips, he suggested a fuel additive, premium gas and some longer freeway drives to get the converter hot and clear it out.He cleared the warning light. He said Camry s like my 2001 don t typically have cat converter problems until over 200K miles mine s at 145K.So the next day I put in a fuel additive, topped off the tank with premium and took a long drive. I m continuing regular freeway drives.So far, the check engine light has remained off.May be a little early to tell, but looks like Eric might have saved me, at least for a while, from a catalytic converter replacement. And even if that doesn t work out, he at least gave me a shot at a low-cost option instead of saying, time for a new cat converter. I hope you have a good mechanic if you are going to use this mechanic. My sons car was brought in for a check up before a friend was going to purchase it and it ran great. When it was returned there were multiple issues with the electrical system. When we asked what they may have caused the problem the response was that there was no way it was their fault and not to accuse them, which we weren't doing. We are very disappointed with this process and would not recommend anyone come here.

A quick 5-star shout out to Japanese Car Care. I really wanted to change the transmission oil for my wife before a big solo trip. No other place could take me. Fortunately, Tranco referred me to Japanese Car Care. They ended up squeezing me in time to get my wife safely on the road. I wouldn't expect a short time-frame from any auto care clinic these COVID days, but Jason and his team simply made it happen. AND, he did it with professional, personable service at a reasonable price. If you're going somewhere else for your car care, and they're not living up to YOUR standards, try Japanese Car Care once. If you're like me - you'll be putting them in your phone for the next time you'll need honest, dependable service.Service: Transmission repair

Excellent!!! Eric was AMAZING and adorable LOL After reading reviews and on the recommendation of a friend and fellow Honda Pilot owner I took my Pilot in when it refused to start. I called in and Eric told me to bring it in the same day. I had AAA tow it over. Within 2 hours Eric called me to give me a status update and asked how I wanted to proceed. He didn't try to upsale. He was honest and asked what I wanted and gave me options. Prices were fair and work quality. I will 100% be going back for all my future Honda Pilot needs.

I recommend them. Very helpful people, great service and reliable. I also once in awhile need some minor examinations on my vehicle (battery check and air intake hose) and I believe on at least two occasions it was no charge. My vehicle always runs better after service and it's noticeable.

Wow this place is simply fantastic! Eric was kind and professional, explained everything and was very transparent about the work done, no up-sells or unnecessary work. Having dealt with scammy and shady mechanics in town, Japanese Car Care was such a relief to work with. Very honest quick an reliable. Came for a Rack an Pinion replacement. It would've been almost $1400, Come out to find out it was just some loose bolts. The noise was gone an saves us a lot of money. I usually do my brakes myself but I was in a real bind. I called and spoke with Eric. He was really nice over the phone and got me in to get my brakes done on my 4Runner. Adrian did the work and didn t try to sell me a bunch of bs that the other guys always try to do. I m really happy with the work Adrian did and price is good as well. Highly recommend them!!

Ben is probably the most honest mechanic I have EVER met. I just went in because the dealership told me I needed new ball joints, shocks, struts and a steering rack. Ben checked it out and told me I didn't need any of that, all I needed was new tires and an alignment. So he basically gave me back 3000 dollars I was planning on spending. If that's not trust worthy I don't know what is. He also changed my differential and transfer case fluids which was recommended by the service manual. If you want a second opinion go there. Overall great shop, very trustworthy, I will be taking my Toyota to him only for now on.

Ben and his staff are super friendly, go-out-of-their-way-to-help-you kind of guys. They did a fantastic job getting my '08 Tundra 4x4 on the road again within a few hours. The best of all... Japanese Car Care saved me $1,200.00! I highly recommend this shop.

There plenty of good auto mechanics in Albuquerque. Japanese Car Care is no different they provide quality service. What sets them apart is great customer service. Ben kept me updated on my cars status and was a pleasure to work with. The price was significantly less than the dealer and on par with other quality mechanics in town. I will be going back.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Ben and his staff are friendly, honest, professional and feel almost like family. I've been taking my Lexus to them for 5 years now and I would never think to go anywhere else. They have taken great care of my car, remembering things about it that I don't even remember. If you're looking for a place to service your vehicle, this is the place to go.
