DISHONEST RECEPTIONIST! - On Monday evening December 3rd at 4:30pm , I dropped off my 2009 Nissan Murano at Hector's Auto Repair, during the time there I explained to the receptionist - Humberto, Alberto? that there seemed to be a disconnection with my battery as the way to start the car since the morning before was to adjust the connections. I also explained to him that the dashboard lights(picture included) had been on since reconnecting the battery. I also asked about a small issue where the gas gauge would often go down a bit. He mentioned it could possibly be the gas pump. - cool no problem. I asked he answered. My husband then arrived and asked if it was possible to run a diagnostic IF let me emphasize on the IF the check engine light were to turn on. The next day I hadn't heard anything back from them. I went ahead and gave them a call at noon. The same gentlemen that had helped me the previous day picked up. He said he been calling me all morning and leaving voicemails.... I hadn't received anything. At 5pm I got to the location in an UBER, I went inside and paid the $30. I was told that the issue was resolved. He also mentioned to me that the 30$ covered the SCAN and the oldest screw and nut they had in the garage. He also went ahead to let me know that the Scan had returned with the code for the gas pump needing replacement ASAP...... the minor issue I had spoken to him about the day before. Again... this is all word of mouth on his end, no documentation, no receipts, no code. But a simple it'll be 400$ to get the gas pump fixed. I will be honest, I was not happy with this. I felt taken ADVANTAGE of. The only thing fixed was the screw on the battery. Later that evening I spoke to the gentlemen on the phone asking him why the issue had not been taken care of or even informed of. His simple response was " We don't do that here, you have to go to the dealer" I asked to speak to the owner and was brushed off with a simple " he's not available" wait what... being fed up with the nonsense, I gave it a rest. The next morning 12/05/2018 my husband and I decided to go speak to the owner, where once again the receptionist neglected to connect me with him. My husband very respectfully spoke to the receptionist and explained how discontent I was and felt taken advantage off. Not because of the 30$ but the whole business delivery as a PAYING customer My husband asked where the code was retrieved from and where the report was for the 400$ he was trying to gauge me for on the"suppose error code" The gentlemen then brought out a mobile device to read the codes. After connecting and running the diagnostic, NO CODE came up! He then goes ahead and tries to tell us that the ABS and Traction system light is possibly on because of the gas pump.....WHAT!! This gentlemen is clearly not a mechanic. With that being said, I was extremely dissatisfied with both customer service and overall service. it is a SHAME such a well set up location can be affected by the lack of professionalism from an individual. This can be detrimental to a business. I really hope the owner Hector see's this review. The gentlemen was completely dishonest and tried taking advantage of my lack of automobile knowledge. Avoid. I called Friday, asked if they could replace an engine bracket for me. They said they were busy Friday, come in Saturday "as early as possible and we can definitely do it Saturday." They open at 8am, I was there at 7:45. I told him I'd be waiting with my car. Said they couldn't do it now, he'll call me in a hour or so when "I get everything organized."Naturally they never called me, so I called him around noon. He said, yeah I'll call you around 1, we'll be able to do it today like I said. Great. 20 minutes later I get a call from him, "sorry can't do it today, I have a car busy today."

The best mechanic around nobody beats his prices and nobody beats his work and he's a great guy and all the staff there at Hector auto repair I recommend anyone to go to him

Not many honest and decent mechanics left in the area but this has to be the most honest down to earth kinda guy. What I also value from this auto shop is how reliable and punctual they are with all the work they have done for me. Definitely recommend it

I highly recommend these guys between them and Rogers but I d say hectors is the best place in Dover to get your car fixed, they are fast they are honest and cheap they will get the car fixed the same day
