Super friendly people. Great rooms, clean and comfy. It's the little extras that make it stand out. Our king size bed, which was super comfortable, had 4 king size pillows! No one does that!! Also they had pump bottles of shampoo, body wash and lotion which were better quality than most motels. Nice, good quality shower curtain too.Nice breakfast in the morning. Lovely place!!

We stayed here for a night on our way to California. It was just off I80 and was probably one of the more populated parts of Nevada. If you don t expect more than a no-frills motel, you won t be disappointed. If you are looking for a place to sleep for the night, it was a great stop. The beds were nice. The room was very clean. The people were friendly. And overall it was just a nice, off the beaten path hotel.Would recommend for a good bed and some fun local history and flavor.Rooms: Room was tidy, bed was comfortable, and while it was a bit no-frills I enjoyed our night.Walkability: While not a big town, you could walk to restaurants, parks, etc. centrally located.

Pros: staff was absolutely amazing, the rooms are nicely upgraded, beds were very comfortable, the parking lot has space for large vehicles to park, and it was very quiet.Cons: the lip/barrier of the shower was definitely not tall enough to keep water in and the floor flooded every time we took a shower no matter how hard we tried to keep it in, the beds are VERY high up so may be difficult for short people like myself (5'2") to get into, and the rooms are a bit cramped.Edit: yes this was supposed to be an accessible room. However the doorway to the bathroom is too small for most mobility aids bigger than a cane to fit into it. Additionally, the floor is not sloped inward towards the drain, so it floods into the actual room, creating a serious risk.

This motel was super nice. I was nervous to stay because I was by myself. It s a nice motel in a small hometown. The customer service was awesome. I sent an email because I needed to change my arrival date and they called me back to make the change. There is a nice continental breakfast every morning. My room was clean and really comfortable. I was safe and truly enjoyed my stay.Rooms: Clean and comfortableFood & drinks: Free breakfast

Stayed for a night with our two small dogs. Room was beautiful. Laminate floors and newly renovated shower. They offer breakfast from 6-9am. AC looked new as well and kept us so cool all night. Pets are 20$ each, but the owner gave me 1/2 price on our second for being honest. Area was quiet and felt safe. Stayed in a king room and the bed was medium firm. Sheets were soft and clean. Did not get to enjoy the pool but it looked clean and they had staff skimming it at 10am. Woman at the front desk said they work so hard to keep their motel clean and nice, and it really shows! Plan to stay again whenever we are close. Don t skip on this if you re needing to stop for the night.

Wonderful stay! The service was friendly, the rooms are EXCELLENT! To be fair it doesn't look like much from the outside, so the investments are made inside the rooms. The beds are super comfortable with soft sheets and real comforters. We slept like babies Our room had disabled accommodations and the shower was a dream. Our room has a fridge, microwave, stove top and sink with a coffee maker and all the fixings. This is absolutely worth spending a mere few dollars more. Also, it's super quiet and the a/c works like a beast! Loved our stay and we will definitely be booking here again

Great place to stay. Very quiet and clean. The owner checked us in. Very friendly. We needed extra towels and she went and got them. In the morning she was still there helping housekeeping and cleaning grounds. Pool and rooms recently updated...great job. Lots of light in parking lot. Could use larger shower curtains didn't keep all the water in the shower. Could have been my fault too. Very tired when I got to take my shower. Lol. Thank you for a great stay. Your awesome.

Can't really ding it for the location, the town is a rest stop, but conveniently located for our trip. For the price and our initially low expectations, this place really blew us away. The room was small and dated but felt clean and well maintained. The pool was small but clean and the kids liked it. Breakfast was included and they had a good amount of alternative options, like oat/almond milk, which was awesome. The bed was really the only pain point, but other than that these guys go the extra mile.

The front desk manager was super nice. She stayed up super late waiting for us to arrive at 1 am, and she did it two nights in a row! Rooms were clean and bedding was ultra comfortable. They are pet friendly as well, which was perfect for us to stop and stay on a quick turn around road trip.Rooms: Clean and comfortable with large tv

The Big Chief isn't the motel to write home about but it is the best motel in Battle Mountain. From the outside, you'll be expecting low budget rooms but will be pleasantly surprised to find modern, comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are a little dated, but functional.Rooms: Comfortable. Nice bedding and decently modern furniture. Very clean with good daily service.Nearby activities: The Colt Restaurant and Casino is a short 2 minute walk away.Other restaurants are within a 5 minute drive.Food & drinks: Breakfast at the hotel is very basic.

I stayed at this motel while on Permanent Change of Station travel status for the federal government. I called and asked if they would accept the government travel rate, and they confirmed that they did and booked me a king room. I affirmed with them over the phone that I had an emotional support animal and my partner with me and they stated that they understood. Upon arrival, I checked in with no problems and the worker at the desk was kind. My room had 2 sets of towels in it, like any normal king room. It was a wet, snowy day and I wanted to protect the motels new floors, so I used one bath towel as a floor mat. I went to the desk to ask for an additional bath towel, and they said they would ask housekeeping and have one when I returned from dinner. When I returned for the towel, apparently the manager had told the front desk worker that they had to charge me an "extra person fee" for my room. I was completely confused as to why this was necessary. The front desk worker was obviously confused as well and it seemed like she never had to do this before. I asked why, and she stated something along the lines of "uh because...you use more towels and things..." I was in a king room with my partner. They give you 2 sets of towels for a king room. I told them upon booking that it was 2 people. So I paid the fee because I needed another towel because I used one to protect their floor and felt awkward when they asked. The girl at the front desk couldn't elaborate as to why this fee was necessary. This felt like an absolute money grab by the manager. Were you mad that I had a government rate? Were you mad I had an emotional support animal? Were you mad I had a partner? It was completely wrong to not disclose an "extra person fee" upon booking a room for 2 people, and it was even worse to suddenly spring it on me after I had checked in and paid for the room because I asked for ONE extra towel to protect YOUR new floors. I have never been treated so poorly by a hotel or felt so unvalued as a guest. They said they receive government workers all the time so they know how a government rate works. I will certainly never stay here again and will tell those in my office to also not stay here.

Nice hotel, nice rooms. However the owner should not be in public service. I went to check out and he asked me a in snarky manner What do you want . I said an invoice, he acted like I asked him to shoot his dog. Was snarky and difficult over such a simple request. Is a nice place not trying to take business away just be prepared for to deal with the owner. The Women working the desk when I checked in was very nice. Rooms were clean, and cleaned daily.

Stayed here wanting a change from the chains. Very clean, updated and loved the no carpet room. I like carpet in my home, but in a hotel it seems cleaner without. Actual coffee cups and drip maker in the room. Sheets were so soft! And bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is good in a cozy setting. Next trip home from AZ, we are stopping here!

Stayed here in the late 1980s and it's way better now! Family owned and operated now. While it's nothing fancy, it is clean clean clean!!! Pool was lovely, temp was perfect which is not easy in Nevada where it cools off so much every night! Lovely thick towels, nice bed linens. All the extras we've come to expect from big chains....blow dryer, iron and ironing board. So darn happy to find something has become nicer!

Very nice staff. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The beds are very comfortable with firm enough mattresses. Shower is hot, roomy, and has good water pressure. The shampoo and conditioner provided is decent. AC works well and runs cold. Parking lot is well-lit, providing some peace of mind from a security standpoint. This place is a diamond in the rough. Love the fact that they have a pool and fitness room too. Very happy to have stumbled across it. A+*The gym was locked early in the morning before regular hours - the hotel owner, Kim, was kind enough to let me in to use it anyway. It's rare that you find people willing to go out of their way for customer service anymore. I can't recommend this place enough.

What a wonderful surprise after driving nearly 600 miles. Customer service could not be better. The room was large, with a big comfortable bed. The room was very clean. The room had all the amenities, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a nice big TV.The breakfast was outstanding. Hot oatmeal, waffles, fruit and hard boiled eggs. Very clean.I've never been to this area before what a great place to stay, well worth the affordable price

We got stuck in town after wrecking our vehicle. The staff, and owner, were more than accommodating and went above and beyond for all of our needs.Gave us a ride to U-Haul, hooked us up with a phone charger. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bedding smelt fresh (very unusual for motels, so big plus there!).Continental breakfast was adequate. Coffee fresh. All in all 10 out of 5 stars for this establishment!

The Big Chief is a Big Win!Honestly, I was nervous about staying at any motel in town, but the BC is clean, cozy, and decently priced. Plus, they have a really good breakfast included with the price. There was a little bit of road noise since it is a motel, but overall I was very impressed!
