This was one of my favorite stops by far.The food was so good the wife got a cheese burger with bourbon bacon jam and I only got one bite of it it but boy was it good.. I got the tenderloin and it was also very good. We both got waffle fries and they were perfect...The young lady that seated us and served us was absolutely amazing she did her job very well...If you are in or around Kirksville or that area I would highly recommend looking the fort up and giving a try, it was probably the best experience we have to date...Kid-friendliness: They had a pool table dart boards and a claw machine

Ordered an appetizer, food and a draft Blue Moon. The beer was hot. It took 45 mins before I got my side salad, no appetizer or food. The salad wasn't good. We didn't wait on the food, we left. The price that we paid for what we got was OUTRAGEOUS. I HIGHLY recommend not wasting your time or money here.

I had the grilled tenderloin with their Chariton style coleslaw. The tenderloin was perfect and the apple cider vinegar definitely gave the coleslaw a nice kick.

My sister and I ate at Fort Chariton on Thursday of last week. The place looks like an old country bar. Very friendly and inviting with soft country music playing in the background. We got there a little after 5 pm and there was no one else in the dining area when we arrived but a large family and a couple other parties of 2 or 3 people came in while we were there. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She gave us time to look over the menu and after we ordered, the food came out quickly. I had the vegetarian sandwich with a small fresh salad and tons of delicious french fries. My sister had the breaded tenderloin with cold slaw. We both had a lot more food than we would have normally eaten but it was so good we cleaned our plates. The owner came by our table and chatted with us for awhile and then met us again when we were leaving. It is well worth going out of your way to find this place and eat there.

If anyone is interested in being under paid and over worked because management hasn't figured out how to run a business and treat employees this might be the best job for you. If customers seen the kitchen you wouldn't eat here again they don't clean anything

Great out-of-the-way restaurant. Frequently has good, live entertainment. Every dish we've had has been good. Onion rings are large and taste great. We've tried the chicken philly, tenderloin, and pulled pork sandwiches; also the chopped steak. If they're busy, it'll take some time to get your food, so have another beer and enjoy yourself.

Awesome! We were seated. Waited maybe 10 min. to have our drink order placed. No big deal. Ordered our drinks and food. Our appetizers were brought out, and a little bit later the owner came to our table. He said " I understand you waited awhile before a waitress came to tour table. I'm going to comp tour appetizer, and give you a $25 gift certificate." I said it was no big deal. They were busy. He said no I want you to come back and have a better experience. Wow.! It's nice to see someone who cares about the customer for a change. I will definitely be back. Great food and even better people. Thanks Fort Chariton.

My husband and I drove from Macon on our HD motorcycle. We took the back roads and it was a beautiful ride and well worth the trip. The service right off the bat was top notch. We were asked about our ride, who we were and where we rode from (treated like family). The food was AMAZING! We both had the 12 oz. Ribeye, and were NOT disappointed! Honestly the best steak we have had in this area by far, and we eat a lot of steak! Locally we have a place with good steak but this beat that place by a landslide. The prices are very affordable. I cant wait to go back to try the all you can eat shrimp! 10 stars from Heather & Fred in Macon. We recommend anyone traveling on a motorcycle should definitely make this one of your stops!

Can I rate higher than 5 stars? My boyfriend and I were in town from Michigan to visit some of his relatives in Green Castle. Since we're from out of town we turned to google maps and found this place. Immediately upon walking in we are greeted by Angela, the sweetest woman we've ever met. Once we were seated and ordered appetizers, we noticed we'd showed up right before they closed, but when we apologized for coming in so late they not only stayed and chatted with us for a while but continued giving incredible, friendly service. This is hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Not only was the food absolutely INCREDIBLE, the staff was EVEN BETTER! We would be returning on Tuesday before we leave if they weren't closed on Tuesday's! We will absolutely be returning any time we are back in town.

My buddy and his wife had been talking about it and how good it was. So one night we left deer camp and went to Fort Chariton. 11/20/2020 Awesome place, great service and as described on the food! Go check it out. It's a hidden gem.

Food is great, but I give it 4 stars because the couple times we went the customer service was slow, waited for a table and when we seated it took 20 minutes for a server to tell us we would have a 2 hour wait before she could take our order.I wouldn t completely mark this place off because of its remote location and country feel.

Terrific little bar and grill in Yaro. Grizz, the owner, and his staff have turned this place into a venue worth the drive to come to. Excellent food and a lively atmosphere. ALWAYS look forward to spending an evening or two here every year during deer hunting season!

Adam Powell's music was incredible. He sings covers from Kenny Rogers, Jimmy Buffet, Elton John and more on most Friday and Saturdays. Folks were even dancing. They served Free Lemonade! And my pulled pork and onion rings were perfection!

Love the relaxed atmosphere of this place. Employees and other customers were friendly and welcoming. Food was fast and great. Will definitely return and possibly make use of their campground :)

Slow service and extorbitant prices. Went there at noon on a weekday and we were the only customers the whole time, which was over an hour. Took 15 minutes to get two teas, which were horrible. The so-called soup of the day was supposed to be tomato soup, but looked and tasted like bland Prego spaghetti sauce. We got our main dishes 40 minutes later. Average steak and shrimp, but way overpriced. For what we spent, we could have had bar drinks and leftover's from The Pear Tree, Colton's, or Thousand Hills Dining Lodge. The only redeeming factors were a clean environment and friendly waittesses, but everything else was a disappointment.

This restraunt/bar is a little out of the way and off the beaten path but worth the drive. The restraunt has a good menu of burgers and sandwiches to choose from at moderate price points. They offer a good selection of mixed drinks and an array of tap and bottled beers. I would have given them a five but the restraunt is out of the city limits thus not under the indoor smoking ban, the tint of smoke in the air was a personal drawback for me.

Atmosphere was great...but both times that we went there it took well over an hour to get our food...it was not busy.. The order was wrong the first time and the second trip some of the order was not eatable. However the place was clean, service was friendly, and the one man band was great....
