If you are a woman, DO NOT COME HERE! The owner took advantage of my desperation of me needing my car fixed. The owner overcharged me and told me that it was at his discretion to do so. I was quoted one price by the head repairman (who runs the shop when the owner is out) prior to working on my car. After the work was done, I was quoted a new price by the owner which was almost $300 more. Not only was I overcharged for labor I did not approve to be done on my car prior, they also broke a valve on my engine. Instead of notifying me about it and fixing what they broke, they decided to GLUE the hose over the broken valve hole with a silicone adhesive. This of course wore off over time and caused my car to break down only 4 months later! They are the only shop to EVER do work on my engine/spark plugs prior to my car breaking down again 4 months later for the very reason they overcharged me to fix! To overcharge me, speak to me condescendingly, and to break something without properly fixing it is such a horrible way to run a business.Edit: So the owner has replied to my initial comment with lies. Lies have been circled in the supporting photos. He claims that we agreed to a price BEFORE the work began which is false. As I mentioned before, I was initially quoted by the head repairman for the work he himself was going to do. I was then called days later AFTER the work was done being quoted a much higher price to also include the diagnostic fee. At that very moment I asked for the fee to be waived as not only is that common practice when you elect to allow the shop to perform the work found in the diagnostic, but also was TOLD from the head repairman s mouth that the fee would be waived once he performed my work. So I was asking the shop to HONOR their word. The OWNER told me verbatim that it is at his discretion to waive the fee and that he wouldn t because of all the extra work the head repairman had already done. He wanted to account for his EXTRA labor of going above and beyond, which I never requested. And test driving a vehicle after repairs to make sure the job was done correctly, should not be considered going above and beyond or extra labor. But my point being, the new much higher price was quoted for the extra work which was ALREADY done at that point of the new quote. So how did we agree on a price before the work if I was given a new quote accounting for the extra work that was done? And to state that I tried to get the fee waived AFTER I came to pick up my car is a boldface lie. We talked in length as soon as the new quote was given and that is when I asked the owner to honor the word I was given as soon as I handed them my keys. And you cannot assure me of anything other than your shop being the only ones to touch my engine between my valve being intact and it being broken and glued over the hole. Just check the tone of the owner s replies to the other low ratings, it speaks for itself.

About a year ago they put in a bad alternator in my car. They replaced it with a faulty alternator that broke the next day when I went on a road trip. The next day the car broke down due to a bad alternator they put in my car. They would not give me back the money for the alternator or install a new one. I couldn t go back because I was out of town. Ended up costing me $2000 + for faulty work. In total about $5000 for towing and another alternator. Would not recommend.

Pros: Verbal communication skills and teaching about auto mechanicsCons: Inconsistent pricing options. I was going to be charged 3x to rebuild an A/C assembly in a Honda civic, as compared with my previous auto clinic repair, only to find out cheaper options were available from North Town Auto.My take: If you can afford to pay it, could be worth it, because service is personalized. Unfortunately, that was not my experience and I wish I had known a cheaper option from them was in fact an option, the whole time.Bottom line: Every customer and business relationship is different and that s okay. It wasn t a great fit, but that doesn t mean it won t work for others. Thanks for reading.

They were so nice squeezing me in extremely last minute. They couldn't help fix my problem this time around, unfortunately, but I appreciated how honest and upfront they were. And I didnt realize till after they never charged me a cent to check out what was wrong and give me recommendations on how to move forward which is beyond appreciated. I will be back for other maintenance needs just based on how this shop handles and presents themselves!

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. Russell is so kind! I brought my car here originally about a month ago to get a state inspection done. He squeezed me in that day regardless of how busy they were. I have a BMW and he let me know that they could take care of any basic maintenance but that he would refer me to a European car specialty shop if I ever needed anything more drastic as that is not their specialty. I appreciated this upfront knowledge that my car was in his best interest and he wasn t going to push me into doing things that they couldn t do which was so honest and appealing for me to being my car back here! Also, having a person who knows about cars being able to give a helpful recommendation if needed is such useful knowledge. The BMW dealership has screwed me before so I have NEVER wanted to take my car back to the dealership. This time around I used them for an oil change. I wanted to bring my car ONLY to this shop because of how well they had treated me the first time. After calling him, he made sure to take time to understand what days I had available and how I had yet again needed something rather last minute (I do not recommend this as it does put them in a pinch). I really appreciated that they knew what they were doing. Typically having a bmw, shops aren t the best about also resetting the computer but this was done and my car is driving like it s brand new. I cannot say enough good things about this shop or the people who work there. I will use them and will continue to tell everyone about them as often as possible. I also love how he treats his staff as I can tell he is very respectful to them. 100/10 stars.

I will definitely be going back to Northtown auto service. Russell was great!! I needed to get my car serviced before a road trip and he made sure my car was ready to go! He was understanding and didn t make me feel pressured to do anything but also made sure I would be safe!Service: Auto maintenanceService: Auto maintenance

Russ is always very easy to speak to on the phone. I have had to bring my jeep into the shop a few times. He does a great job at explaining the issue in terms a non-car guy can understand. I appreciate his willingness to always take a look as quickly as he can. If supporting a great local business is important to you, I would highly recommend this one.Services: Electrical repair, Auto brake repair, Brakes, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto maintenance

Excellent service supported by knowledgeable staff that clearly explained what was needed and why. Buddy made my 1st visit seem like I was a family member and not just another customer. Definitely my go to shop for future needs.

I called for a quote, and the guy who answered was really rude. He kept interrupting me and would not give me a quote. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't trust an angry person like that to work on my car. If you can't handle a phone conversation, how can you handle someone's vehicle.

I brought my Nissan Altima here at Northtown Auto to get fixed and instead of informing me beforehand that they wouldn't be able to service my car till Monday-Wednesday of next week, I was told that they would be able to look at it right away and give me an estimate by noon. Instead they didn't tell me about when they could start on my vehicle until after charging me $150 for a diagnostic check and keeping it overnight. As a result I missed a day of work. That's unethical. Had they just told me in the beginning that my car would have to sit at their shop 4-6 days before they could work on it, I would've never wasted $150. I do not recommend this place. Anthony Cobbs

Family has been going here since before i could drive. Very down to earth and honest owners. It's not the cheapest repair shop, but they consistently do great work.

Russell is amazing! The rest of the staff are friendly and professional. None of that barely audible, inhospitable mularkey you get at other shops. Every repair and service is clearly explained with a price quote before any work is done. I have asked some "dumb" questions and every time Russell and his staff have answered comprehensively, concisely and kindly. I'm also a night time worker, mid day drop offs and same day service are a life saver.

I have been dealing with Russell since July 1st now. This man is impeccable! All I can say is this, if you have ANY car trouble this is the man to go to. Not only does he care about the service provides, he cares about you! We are on a first name basis and I can tell from all of the crazy legwork he had to put in to get my recall done for me, he cares about my time. He made my recall a smooth transition for me and explained everything that was happening from point A to B. When there were mistakes made at the dealership handling my recall he took care of the matter personally and even called nother dealership to have my car worked on at a place that would provide the service I needed done. After all of that craziness he asked me to bring the car back after the recall to double check that the car would be working correctly and all recall work was completed like it should be. When I tell you I will recommend every person I know to this shop, I mean it!! Thank you for being amazing Russell! For the hundredth time, I appreciate you! (:

Terrific customer service! Russell took a stressful situation and made it easy. Quick callbacks, very personable too. It was cool...they provided pictures and videos of the areas that needed repair to help us better understand the extent of the damage. They explained what was urgent, what could wait and what was cosmetic so we could work within our budget and spread out the expenses. No pressure!

I have been a patron for over 7 years. Russell and his team are not like any I have worked with. They have an outstanding work ethic, are genuine and really care about your needs. They explain their service in layman's terms without being condescending. It is a comfort that I can deal with a mechanic without the reassurance of a male family member being present.

Great communication on what was found to be ailing my car. Price seemed a bit high but they're the pros so they deserve it. They performed a complete check up and results were avail to view online with pictures. Very professional, no back yard mechanics here. So I would absolutely recommend them to any and all.

The quick service and nice people turned me into a loyal customer in just 45 minutes. I was so impressed with the quick help I was able to get with my flat tire. I thought the flat tire was going to set the tone of my day to a negative one, but Northtown Auto Service was so great that it completely changed that to a positive tone for the day.

I ve been to Northtown Auto five or six times now and I m the type who doesn t really go to the shop until something is noticeably wrong with my vehicle. So I ve spent quite a bit of money here, but Russell is great about telling you exactly what s going on and giving his qualified opinion on what you really need and what you really don t. And even though he is an expert and a lot of customers including myself don t know much of anything about vehicles, he doesn t make you feel that way. He explains it to you so you have an idea of what s going on. Great guy and a great place to take your vehicle.

It's was a really great experience compared to 8 years ago. The lady at the front desk is the best in class at her job. They also fixed an issue on my wife's car that we couldn't seem to get help with anywhere else for some reason. 5 stars+1

It's rare that I enjoy spending time in an auto repair shop, but this morning I had a very pleasant experience. I went to get my car inspected and a part replaced, and at 7:00 a.m. I was greeted warmly and offered a cup of coffee. (It was good.) I was able to connect to wifi and work while I waited in the company of a friendly boxer. I saw how the owner, Russell, interacted with his staff and treated his apparently loyal customers, and it made me want to continue giving him my business. The inspection finished in about 45 minutes and the part was replaced at a low cost compared to other auto repair shops. Added bonus, the DMV is two minutes away. Regardless, I will be back.

The staff is friendly and courteous. However if you don't know exactly what is wrong with your car think twice. I ended up spending near $600 on an alternator, some tests, a starter connection, and a tow 1.5 miles. I went to an auto store a few days later and they told me my battery was dead and I ended up needing a new starter. I'll install it myself next time. They were helpful overall, but I don't think the cost was the most fair especially since my alternator is easily accessible.

Russell is the most stylish mechanic I've ever seen. So yes, I appreciate that. Other than that, amazing service and people I can trust. Family owned and operated, which you can feel when interacting with the staff. You're ultimately at the mercy of whichever mechanic you go to, which is scary, but you can trust these guys. They're very honest and won't sell you things you don't need.

Great service, quality, and customer service. A family run company and do things right. The first time I used them, I brought my Subaru in to get the headlights replaced since it was a pain. Since then, I go to them for my Sienna and 4Runner. They do a great job and have won my loyalty and if you're looking for a new mechanic, you have found your place.

Needed a place to get new tires and drive-train work. They were the nearest cooper tire retailer. The tire replacement was on par work. I was told they had the 'exact' tires. They were the same size but different model and rating. Eh, I'm not too picky. The bill was well over what a reasonable price should be.-however-I almost fell out of my chair when they quoted me the drive train work.I can handle paying a little extra for good quality, local service, American made products, but this was to the point they were trying to take advantage.I went elsewhere for 1/4 the cost. Unfortunately, that's not an exaggeration.

Have been going here for basic maintenance for about 5 years or so now. Although they had helped me with tires and oil changes, what really sold me is a couple years back I was curious about some noises about my clutch. I asked them to take a look during an oil change, and he told me what the problem was, how much it would cost; and then told me in his opinion he wouldn't bother doing the work to it. That with the value of my car and how much the repair would be, I'd be better off just letting it keep going. An auto shop that didn't take advantage & tells me not to spend money with them gained a customer for as long as I'm in the KC area. There's even a cute dog in there some times!!

I have been going to Northtown Auto for years and could not be happier! When you are extremely busy and work long hours like I do, having car issues can be your worst nightmare. Thankfully, Northtown Auto makes these inevitable problems a whole lot easier to deal with. Every time I visit the shop, I m greeted with a friendly smile and treated with respect. Russell always gives me the honest facts about what my car does and doesn t need and, most importantly, I am confident that I can always trust Northtown Auto to do an honest job for a very competitive price. Finding a shop you can trust can be so difficult. It is so nice to never worry about whether or not I am being taken advantage of. I ve recommended this shop time and time again to friends and family alike and will continue to do so! Thanks, Ted and Russell, for always keeping my car safe and cared for!

Russel was great to work with, my car was causing a lot of problems but they were very patient and didn't let me spend more money then I needed to which was appreciated. Would recommend to others and have already refered a coworker there. Great mechanic and customer service excellent!

I've been using the services at Northtown Auto for about three years and have no complaints and this includes my latest visit. What prompted the latest visit? A flat tire. I wanted to see if it could be salvaged or if it would be necessary to replace along with getting the tires balanced and a general car check up.As soon as a mechanic was able to look at the tire, Russell let me know that because the tire wasn't kept properly inflated, the inside of the tire was a loss and it would have to be replaced. He gave me the cost of the tire replacement, which I felt was reasonable given the vehicle. But he followed it up with telling me he could look around for a good, used tire if necessary. I asked if the other tires on the car were OK. The mechanic had taken a look at the other tires as well, he said, and they are in good shape. Thumbs up!Overall, I've had good experiences with Northtown. Otherwise, I wouldn't make a point to keep giving the auto shop my business. I don't go back to places where I feel mistreated. I've been to auto shops where I feel like mechanics have tried to pull a fast one on me. Heck, I don't even like going to quick oil change places because I dislike how hard they try to push additional sales tied to the oil change. I have never felt pressured into making a quick decision or felt pushed into making repairs.Northtown generally makes car tune ups an repairs less painful! Plus, the place has an awesome dog that hangs out in the lobby! Bonus!

Honest, great working group. I have taken my vehicles to them for 13 years. Hard to find people like this in their industry. They have always given me a chance to think over any repairs and have always researched what the best approach would be, even if it meant going to another shop to do the work!!! Example, transmission was going out so I took it in to have them rebuild it. Russell told me that it would possibly be losing my money if I had them overhaul it and gave me some very reasonable options that I could consider. I was more than amazed at his honesty, he lost out on roughly 2,000- 3,000 dollars by telling me the truth. However, he gained a customer for life with his integrity. Best shop in the metro area, which is why I drive 20 minutes out of my way to take my vehicles to their shop.

Great father-son team! I had an 08 Jeep Wrangler that the transmission went out on with only 75,000 miles. They were very professional and gave me many options. I ended up having them rebuild the transmission from the ground up which was pretty pricey. Honestly their pricing was very close if not better than some other bids that I received. For the convenience and professionalism I will always take my cars to Northtown.
