WOW all of us car guys love Pontiacs and we all cry that this great car is no longer. We went to a special holiday event for a preview, it is not open to the public yet the target date is May 2024. This huge old school building that is being reconstructed into The non-profit Pontiac Transportation Museum intends to tell this remarkable story, but also has a role in energizing community development and revitalization. It is full of very rare one of a kind Pontiacs. They have a nice selection of Pontiac gifts for sale we bought t shirts. I know the building will be warm in the winter and cool in the summer because the experts at Lizut Mechanical also in Pontiac just installed a huge rooftop system.

I am not a Pontiac kinda gal but I do enjoy looking at old cars of any kind. This LOCAL car museum is well worth the stop. Plus the small town has a lot to offer! Just look up Pontiac.

Museum staff / board of directors we're extremely knowledgeable and personable. The building is an old elementary school and they have accumulated some very interesting cars including the very first Pontiac!

During our stay at the Marriot for the 40th Anniversary of the introduction of the Pontiac Fiero, we visited the PTM with a huge gathering of Fiero owners and we purchased a brick in commemoration of our visit. When you go there you should do the same as a legacy of your visit.

I gave one stars to the Pontiac Transportation Museum as it is not yet open for business and a "Coming in 2019" hangs sadly above the front doors which are lined with blue construction tarps. No other signage or explanation of the missed opening or current project status. By chance I ran into one of Pontiac, MI biggest boosters who has great things to report about the renovation and took seriously the need for an update on a public opening date. I reserve any more stars until their website and printed materials more accurately reflect their open status, diversify a seemingly all white Board of Directors, provide a local address and hours where records can be inspected by the public, and clarify the actual ownership of the collection and relationship to the sister museum.Adding a star to acknowledge improvements to signage and the occasional outdoor event programming!

The museum, while in formation, already serves to heighten awareness and appreciation of the City of Pontiac's deep and varied transportation heritage, through ongoing events and private appointed tours. Dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable volunteers bring our local history to life. Their good and fruitful work bring a bright future for school children and citizens. The best is yet to come!

Not open yet, but based on the (much smaller) Pontiac, IL, location, I'm sure this will be a fantastic place to visit in the near future.Keeping the Pontiac legacy alive!

We drove here, it is in a small down, in an abandoned school and is not open.

Pontiac Motor Company makes these cool cars.It was amazing that it was made. Designs and eras that you won't find strange even if you walk around the city these days. The advanced design of the camping cars was very impressive.
