The Brighton Garage (aka. The Detroit Garage) has a great team of honest and thoughtful people on staff. I recently had my car in for diagnosis of on several issues, all were addressed thoroughly (with options on how best to proceed) and for a fair price. Not to mention, quick turnaround time!

Had my car towed to Detroit garage Brighton. with a transmission not shifting to park which created a No start issue. They found a walnut jamming the shift linkage. I appreciate their honesty and the timely manner they solved my issue. Very friendly staff. Very recommended repair garage. Thanks guys. Now I need to get rid of the squirrels living in my walnut trees.

Job was done, BUT at a premium, and communication was lacking.I got 2 flat tires and had my car towed to this shop (at the recommendation of AAA). Originally told it might be out as soon as 1 day. I gave my car a look 1 day in and it had not been touched yet. Was told 3 different prices for the required service after they knew more (after declining 4 new tires). Ended up costing $100 over another tire shop (in hindsight bringing a flat tire to a mechanic was a mistake). Was never provided with a break down of the price or a receipt. When asked, the extra cost over materials and labor was just "normal shop items" with no elaboration. All information had to be asked directly, they were not forthcoming with information. But... the service did get done, and I did get my car back within 3 business days.

The Detroit Garage (The Brighton Garage) is great. They are detail oriented and care about the customer and the car. While I was getting my oil changed, they checked other parts of my car and found a nail in my rear tire! They are very helpful and courteous. I highly suggest them to anyone in the Metro Detroit Area.

I went to a well-known business in Brighton and spent $1,900 and not any of my issues were addressed. Took vehicle to Detroit garage in Brighton and every issue I had was taken care of they kept in touch with me throughout the process and I will recommend them highly to everyone.

Chris and Keevan were incredibly kind and professional. Not only did they take time to actually show me and thoroughly explain the problems on my car when there were more issues than I expected, but they also stayed late to finish the work, fulfilling their guarantee that it could be finished in time for our upcoming trip. Great shop with great humans!

They tried to tell me I needed a transmission rebuild. All I needed was more fluid. Been driving it and distances for 1.5 years since then. Forgot about this horrible company but they started spamming my email. I see other reviews and they might do good work, but would recommend a second opinion.Really disappointed, especially all the lies they said. It really is hard to get a good mechanic. Still not convinced they actually looked at it. I remember never seeing it move from where I dropped it off at.Brighton area is very expensive rent, they will make up for it.

Took my truck to a dealership and a stand alone shop before coming here, both being in Brighton. Total days spent at these 2 other places was 4 days with neither shop actually fixing the problem.Vehicle was making a loud noise on cold start and they were able to diagnose, source parts, and get the truck back to me same day. I ve waited to review to make sure everything is running sound and it is. Staff was very upfront, honest, and got the job done right. My car was taken in and diagnosed and fixed very quickly. For a third of the price that the dealership wanted. Everything was shown and explained to me before I approved work on the vehicle. Towed my truck here after breaking down, as they were the only place within miles with open availability. Was very pleasantly surprised, as they did some of the best and most meticulous work I ve ever seen an auto shop do, as they are extremely cautious of making sure there s nothing wrong with your car before it leaves the shop. Had my car for 2 days and it sat in the parking lot. they gave me little to no diagnostic for my car troubles then proceeded to try to charge me $230 for nothing! They didn t do any work on my car the $230 was just to DIAGNOSE it and they didn t even properly do that. Didn't even scan the sensors though we had told them we thought it was a sensor issue ( i took my car to autozone and got my sensors scanned for free and it took less then 5 minutes) the feedback they gave me was "foggy headlights" and little things like that, that had absolutely nothing to do with my vehicles issues. they didn't even put it on a hoist or anything! they were rude to me and my dad as well. they told me my serpentine belt was messed up so when i went to go fix it, not only was the belt completely fine but there was no way they could've even seen my belt because you have to take the engine cover off and lower the entire motor to even SEE the belt. there was no way they even really looked at my car. they tried ripping me off and i fully believe it's because i'm a female! i will never return and i would NOT recommend anyone else to take your car here! I was out of a car for 2 days for no reason! Awful!

My experience wasn't the best. I brought in a 2011 Cadillac SRX that was throwing a CEL and was sluggish. I knew the catalytic converters were bad as this is what my code reader as telling me.Well, I was a little taken aback when the estimate of over $6,000 came back to me. The $6,000 bill was comprised of replacing 3 catalytic converters and replacing the timing chains. The estimate included pictures of a scan tool displaying P0019 code along with the expected P0420 and P0430 that indicate a bad catalytic converter. Researching the P0019 code, this is specific to the crank position sensor and camshaft position sensor are out of alignment - hence the timing chains needing replacementNeedless to say, I was surprised to have this issue and decided to take my vehicle elsewhere for a second opinion. Before I did that, I read the codes again after bringing the car back home and as before the only codes that were showing up were related to the converters - nothing related to timing chains. I then took the vehicle to another shop in town to have them look at it. They read the codes and the ONLY codes were related to the converters - the timing chain codes were not appearing.I had the second shop fix my car. They replaced 2 of the 3 catalytic converters (A and H wanted to replace all 3 for some reason). This bill was less than $2,000 and I have driven the car extensively since then - (approximately 5,000 miles) without any check engine lights. Again, the estimate the A and H gave me was about $6100. My car was effectively 'mechanically totaled' as the repair bill exceeded the value of the car.I reached out to A and H to try and get the copy of the original picture that was taken of the scan tool to confirm it was taken when and where is was supposed to based on the metadata in the file. Unfortunately, they were not able to provide me with that picture. If they had proven the picture was taken when and where it was supposed to have been, I would have felt confident it was, in fact, an issue that came up on my vehicle. Without this, I am wondering if the picture was even of my car's info.When I spoke to them about the timing chain codes and the fact that they were the only ones to have ever seen this code on my vehicle, I was asked if I had changed the oil recently as this can make those codes go away. (Oil was fresh when I took it in - I change the oil religiously when the oil life monitor reaches 50%).Update after owner responded - I did NOT get the original picture I was looking for, just a screen shot from your internal system - no metadata. I am not saying you guys were taking advantage of the situation and recommending unnecessary service, but 5,000 trouble free miles since I DIDN'T have the service performed leads me to believe it wasn't necessary. Picking up the car after not having it fixed, they told my wife that a breakdown was likely if left 'as is. Not cool.Another Update: 4-5 months later, still no sign of the timing chains needing to be replaced as the CEL has not reappeared since the other shop replaced the catalytic converter. I question Brighton Garage's diagnosis for this expensive repair they were recommending.I have put on 50,000 miles since The Brighton Garage told me I needed to spend $3122.65 on a timing chain replacement and another $3500 on catalytic convertors. The timing chain code they told me I had never came back and I had never seen that code on my personal code reader or on code readers that other garages used when diagnosing my issue. I stand by my original review, 50,000 miles later you would expect the issue to come up again. Again, be wary.At this point, i have put 75,000 miles on my Cadillac SRX without timing chain issues after the Brighton Garage told me they needed to be replaced. They claimed that my car was throwing a code that I never saw on my scanner or any other shop could see either. I fully believe they were trying to get me to pay over $3,000 forService: Engine repair

The Brighton Garage deserves more than 5 stars! Both Chris and Nick were fantastic to work with. Chris got us in right away and kept me up-to-date on the work progress from start to finish. Nick performed the work and has an extensive auto background! It s hard to find a mechanic to trust and I thoroughly trust Nick working on my cars and will return to The Brighton Garage because of him. He found two other preventative issues that I wasn t aware of and the team tracked down a needed part right away to finish right on time. They use a Shopware program that tracks the status of the work being done, including photos. I easily approved work changes after they closed at the click of a button. Everyone at The Brighton Garage is extremely professional and treats you like family. I ll definitely be going back in the future!

I took two of my vehicles here for a front end alignment. They did a great job on both vehicles. Chris had a digital printout of the vehicle s alignment and throughly explained what they planned on doing.I also had an oil change, tire rotation and filter replacements. My son was on his way home from East Lansing for Easter when he called to let me know he had put diesel gas in his car. Yes, he managed to do it somehow to everyone's amazement. He didn't drive far but was quite a distance from our home in Grosse Pointe. He called AAA for a tow to the nearest Chevy dealership, but they told him he should go to Brighton Garage, he mumbled something about warranty work IDK what he was talking about and frankly neither did he. I was concerned about going to a random repair place so many miles from home but that's where AAA took him, so there you go. AAA did me a solid, this place was great!It was after hours so he did the key drop box. Communication from Chris was great - he let us know what they'd do, and took steps to keep it as inexpensive as possible - he called the local Chevy dealer to check to see how to siphon the gas, and let me know the costs for both avenues.They fixed it and did a thorough check to make sure everything was running and no engine lights would come on when we took it home.Since they were going to have it for a few days before we could pick it up, I also had them fix a broken taillight, and they did that quickly too.I highly recommend Brighton Garage, they're professional, fast and thorough. They also send you, via text/email, complete quotes on what everything will cost that you can look over and approve before they do the work. I had my 2018 Buick Encore in for service at Belle Tire because the check engine light was on; they determined that the valve cover needed to be replaced - which they replaced with a Dorman brand valve cover; the check engine light came back on immediately. Belle Tire could not determine what the problem was, and suggested taking the car to a dealer for diagnosis, and they would cover the diagnosis cost; I took my car to Brighton Garage for diagnosis. They gave me a loaner car while my car was in for service. That day they gave me a video and report of their findings - Dorman Valve Covers are junk. I took the car back to Belle Tire with the report from Brighton Garage; while they doubted that the Dorman Valve cover was the problem, they agreed to replace with a GM OEM replacement - Problem solved; Chris at Brighton Garage was spot on; they have my business from now on. The Brighton Garage clearly distinguishes itself in the Brighton automotive service market! I was very impressed with the service and professionalism that Jada M. demonstrated throughout the process of getting the work done on my car. When an unforeseen issue occurred, she called me to explain what had happened and gave me an updated time for the work to be completed. I took my vehicle in for oil change and tire rotation, the service advisor said my air cleaner filter needed to be replaced. I declined, I purchased one myself, the filter he showed me was not the same as was the one in my car He flat out lied to me I will never use their service again.They wanted to charge 62.00 dollars, I purchased a name brand filter for 17.00 .
