I never write reviews, but I cannot say enough good things about Fran's Auto Repair. I knew something wasn't right when I heard my breaks squeaking, I brought the car in and Patrick, Fran's son took a quick look and automatically he was so honest about what he thought was wrong. He said that they would need to take a closer look and I was very nervous about the price because so many places will rip you off. He told me he would call be with a rough estimate and tell me if he thought anything else needed to be fixed other than the breaks. He said I could leave the car overnight and he would call me in the morning. I got a call from Fran the owner, he was so honest and straightforward with everything that needed to be replaced. He gave me a rough estimate and a few hours later I was picking my car up and they did an AMAZING job! Not only do they give the BEST prices in all of Boston they are the most genuine hard working people. When I picked the car up Fran was so honest and even taught me a few things about cars, he's honesty and genuine kindness will have me going back anytime I have a car issue. Thank you to Fran, Patrick and all of the employees at Fran's Auto Repair. If I could rate this place a 10 I would :)

Fran is the best and will be missed.He is extremely fair and honest. Unlike some other car repair shops in Southie.He did a dozen repairs on three of my cars and each repair was done properly and for a fair price. There were never any surprises when it came time to pay. Unlike some other repair shops in Southie.

I don't normally post reviews, but Fran and his team blew me away. As a young woman, it can be intimidating walking into an auto shop, but Fran immediately put me at ease. He is extremely kind and despite having a packed lot of cars waiting for repairs, he called me within an hour to tell me my car was all set. Not only was it very quick, but he charged me well below the quotes I received from other shops in the area. I will be going to Fran's for all of my maintenance and repairs and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an honest shop.

This auto shop saved my day. Place was packed still Fran (owner) came right out and spent a couple hours on my car, had the part ordered and boom, fixed. They saved my day I d highly recommend!

Fran is amazing Everytime I have issues I drive the hour and twenty minutes from Salisbury because he's the most honest mechanic(professional) Iv ever met. Never over charges and is so kind even at his busiest!

I was traveling from VT with a stop in BOS on the way to GA in my 2009 Honda. My alert lights came on following a recent visit to an auto body shop in Keene, NH. To be safe I looked for a reliable garage on Google and Fran's garage came up. Fran personally checked my diagnostics himself and he was very informative and trustworthy. I left the garage with confidence that my car was in good shape. I highly recommend his services. Note: He has been the sole owner of this garage since 1993.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Had a flat tire this morning and I live 10 minutes from Fran's shop. Used a tire inflator to buy myself 10 minutes to drive the car to the shop. Fran said he will take a look despite his busy schedule. He took only 10 minutes to fix it. He also explained how stuff works in general with flat tire issues. He charged a bare minimum fee. Had a great conversation with him throughout. Would definitely recommend Fran's Auto Shop.Service: Tires

My car was dead, I think I left my blinker on overnight, and I was freaking out! I called Fran s ( the closest auto repair shop near me ) and it turned out to be the best idea ever! He was calming me over the phone and told me he d be there in 5 minutes- he was there in 2!He jumped my car and told me to swing around and he gave me much needed brake fluid and explained everything about my battery in a language that I could understand! Nicest and most helpful auto service south of Boston!

Fran has been my go-to for any car related need for years. He's honest about what needs to be done and won't tack on extra unnecessary services, while always trying to get you the most for your money. There's a reason Fran's shop is always so busy; I can't recommend enough for literally anything automotive.

Fran is the Tom Brady of auto repairers (the goat). He tells you exactly what you need and nothing more. He will let you know if something may need to be fixed or replaced in the future but will never force anything on you that you don t absolutely need. His prices are very reasonable and he gets work done quickly and on time every time I ve brought my car to his shop. Not to mention he s an absolute joy to speak with!

Fran was a lifesaver. My husband and I were packed and ready to begin our road trip when our car�s battery died. Fortunately, Fran�s garage was in front of our building, and ask him for help. Without hesitation, he jumped in and helped us to start the car. Then he went further and checked the status of the battery and gave us the thumbs up and the trust to begin our trip. We will be okay. Picked up a large bolt in my tire on 93n , Went to one mechanic up the street that said I need a new tire, but I was in a pinch. Went to Fran's and they were able to remove the wheel (even though it had a lexus wheel lock on it) and repair the tire, safely, without an issue. Would recommend Frans. Thanks again guys, Much appreciated.

The only bad thing someone could say about Fran's is that they're too busy, and that's only because they're the best around.The folks there were thorough, honest, and helpful. I had a difficult problem with steering on an old vehicle and they still took the time to check every detail. I would highly recommend them, just call first to see if they have space!

Fran is an amazing person! Just know that if you're looking to get service in this shop you WILL NOT get ripped off!! I called tor a quick estimate (just to compare, because I already had the work done by close friends), and Fran himself gave me a price that was at least 25-50% below the price that other 5 different shops around the Boston area gave me!! Definitely one of those honest people that are very hard to come across now-days!! Recommend 100%!! We were visiting from out of town over Thanksgiving and our rental car got a flat. Fran was very friendly, found out we needed a new tire not just a patch. He was able to get us the tire quickly. He cared about our situation and we were so relieved to find someone who wasn't taking advantage of us or to have to deal with the rental car place. Thanks Fran!

I called Fran s in a panic because of my check engine light being on. Honestly have never had that turn on before so I wasn t sure what to do. Fran fit me in to have my car checked 5 minutes later, resolved the issues, explained what happened, and charged my extremely fairly. I m sure I d be the first target to overcharge in a car shop, but that definitely wasn t the case here. I had gone to several autoshops around Boston before trying Fran's and none of them come close to matching the level of service he and his team provides. Fran was transparent, honest, and most importantly a pleasure to talk with while he explained what needed to be done and how much it would cost (more than fair prices by the way). I will say that because they run such a great business here, the shop is frequently busy. I would plan to bring your car in on Tues/Weds and call ahead to see if they can get you in - in my opinion, it's worth any wait if you can take it to Fran's, I won't be bringing my car anywhere else!Services: Auto A/C recharge, Brakes, Oil change

I was going to another repair shop in the area for years. I came across Fran's and walked in for a quote. I ended up getting my car fixed there. Fran was great! Price was great, much lower than where I was going. Fran and his team are absolutely amazing! SO reliable, always on a timely manner, and ALWAYS cost efficient. He is so loyal and kind to his customers and always prioritizes them. I've been a loyal customer for years. I use my car for work and Fran knows that, so he is always trying to make sure he gets it done around my schedule. I'm not car savvy whatsoever and knowing I have a trustworthy knowledgeable person to turn to in the city is beyond comforting. Fran and his team just want to help people at the end of the day. Fran listened to me as I described the strange noise emanating from my car when on the highway. He took the car for diagnosis. Although he found nothing wrong, he answered my follow-up questions and ultimately gave me helpful advice for driving the car.

After researching places in the South Boston area to repair a tire, Fran was the first person I called and I am so glad I did! He was so comforting on the phone and could not have been nicer in person when I dropped my car off 15 minutes later. I ended up needing to purchase a new tire due to the location of the nail I had run over in the side wall of the tire, and I appreciated that Fran did not just try to repair it and send me on my way. He was honest and explained why it was important to replace the tire vs repair, which I had researched online beforehand and agreed with. I had also looked up the cost of one of my specific kind of tires online beforehand too, just to be prepared. Fran called his local tire supplier from his office and relayed the cost of the tire + labor, which was the exact cost I had seen online plus just $20 extra for labor. Fran was completely transparent, honest and trustworthy. And even better, he had the tire at his shop in a few hours and the car ready for me shortly after. When I picked it up, he even went out of his way to buff a few scratches on the side of my car. I could not be more grateful for Frans Auto Repair and they now have a customer for life!

I ve had an oil change, as well as a brake replacement here. Both times I ve interacted with Fran, the owner, who takes great pride in his shop and passion in his work.The prices were fair and cheaper than any dealership or larger chain, even with high inflation and supply chain issues. He was also very transparent about the pricing up front, since both problems were easier to estimate. Both jobs were also completed within a few hours of dropping off. I haven t had any post-work issues, although I don t think brake replacements are very susceptible to this anyway. Going to the auto shop is rarely out of pleasure, but Fran will make your experience as pain free as he can. You might even catch yourself laughing. Support a local business, give Frans a try.

Originally from CT. Got a flat at a hotel down the road and drove my car in because I didn't have my jack to put on the donut. Expressing my situation to a shop worker, Fran himself said he could put on a tire for me that'll get me back to CT. Got me in and out in 30 minutes. A true life saver indeed.
