Mixed bag experience.I think they're a good shop. I would give them 4 stars, because I've had worst shops in Somerville. I appreciate the people I worked withThe problems:Communication. Communication I do *not* mean English pronunciation, I mean, like, we spoke past each other alot and I think my issues ultimately were communication not dishonesty or anything like that.Examples:--Changed my oil, without me asking or confirming. They left a voicemail that I didn't address, I realized later. A voicemail is unacceptable to me, a phone call that was clear and explicit may have been ok, but that didn't happen.--added a tire protection plan, that I did not ask.--i called *twice* to ask if I can keep the un-damaged old tire (1 was undamaged, 1 damaged) for an emergency spare tire on a future road trip (because no one ever has them stocked), was confirmed I could and that would be no problem, but on pickup was told they always drill the sidewalls when replacing. Frustrating, because I called not once but twice to verbally confirm this.Frankly I was pretty uncomfortable pushing to get the oil change off my charges, because I guess like I'm not trying to be a jerk about it? Thanks for changing my oil? But cars are sensitive personal items, I think most people would be fairly offended by this. I'll be checking my oil drain plug later not because I think Sullivan has any problems, but because I know enough people who have had problems with loose or too tight plugs after service (I trust my usual shop more, not that I have reason to distrust Sullivan but that's once reason I'm uncomfortable with someone changing the oil w/o asking me.)Also, perhaps most importantly, if my wife/partner had picked up the car, as originally planned by us, there's zero chance she would have been comfortable contesting the $160 added charges.Again, good people. A *different* shop in the city put my tires backwards on the rim last time I had them replaced, so I count my blessing they're decent and did a good job on my car. I just came away from the communication challenges feeling like it was a little slimy to get added charges, *but again* I don't think this was explicitly intended and is just the consequence of our communication issues. I think a few more confirmations and clarity processes could solve this entirely.Again thank you Sullivan! And they did work with me to remove the extra charges.

Great customer service . It's a medium size chain, but still had the "invested employees "feeling . I had to do a purchase / return, over couple days. Employees made it a painless process. They only do standard repairs no unusual stuff. They are busy. Appts are 2-5 days out

I took my car here because my lug nuts were loose. I stopped by without an appointment, someone walked out to my car, immediately started fixing it, advised on future service I should consider but did not pressure me to do it that day or even with them. Then they charged me nothing for the service. Very seamless and much appreciated service

Andrew is super helpful and very transparent about costs and prioritizing maintenance! I appreciated his working with me to decide which (out of a lot of costly work my car will soon need) repairs should be taken care of when. I do also appreciate that Sullivan always consults me before undertaking any particular fix, and notifies me of near-future maintenance needs without pushing me to get everything done at once. Plus, they offer a lot of small and helpful add-on services for free and always have deals and coupons available. My only gripe is that none of their MA locations do state inspections--if they did, I'd probably never go to another auto shop!

Really great experience. Usually anything to do with the car is just dreadful, but they were truly pleasant to deal with. I had a tire blowout and needed it replaced. They let me drop off the wheel and had the tire on when I came to pick it up. They even carried the flat tire out of my car and into the store when I dropped it off and of course put the new one on when I came to pick it up. They were helpful, honest, and friendly. The price was $50 less than at the dealer. They are easy to reach on the phone, and their waiting room is by far the cleanest and best air-conditioned I ve experienced at a car place. Highly recommend.

Terrible customer service. I called and set up an appointment to drop off my vehicle. I m was very busy working everyday and long hours and they told me I can pay over the phone so that I can pick up my car later on after they close. When I called to pay, Andrew informed me that he can t take my payment over the phone and wouldn t work with me at all. He stated that I could have someone else pick up my car but I don t know anyone in the area. I also start work earlier than they open and leave after they close. Andrew said he didn t care about what the person said to me when booking my appointment. I was willing to verify any of my information including sending them a picture of my ID. This is absolutely ridiculous, as the following day I had a big job that is over an hour away and need my car. I will not be returning as a customer and recommend you don t trust what they promise. I now I have to call my client and explain how I m going to be late when they are on a set schedule. Look elsewhere for good customer service.

Couldn't have had a better experience here. I found a leak in my rear tire on Monday evening- unfortunately, a screw had punctured the tire. I saw that Sullivan's was close to my place so I went online and used their easy to navigate website to make a request for an appointment. Someone got back to me the same day to confirm the appointment for Tuesday. I brought the car in, the employees were polite and helpful, they patched the hole, and I had the car back within a couple of hours. Based on previous experiences with other garages I was mentally prepared for this to be a drawn out ordeal costing tons of money, but this was the exact opposite: Sullivan's was fast, no hassle, inexpensive, and straightforward.

I brought my car in for an oil change, tire rotation, and to get new wiper blades put on. The service I received was courteous, thorough and efficient. I'm not surprised though as Sullivan Tire locations have always done right by me. Thank you for the great service and attention. I appreciate it.

I love the Sullivan Tire on Beacon St. in Somerville. Kevin and the entire crew are responsive and have helped us with everything from new tires to pinpointing mystery muffler issues in our aging car. They truly are our local garage and we're really grateful for such a great place.

If I could give a zero star review I would. My family has been going to Sullivan tire for years, usually New Hampshire locations, so when I needed an oil change I opted for Sullivan in Somerville. The experience was terrible from start to finish, for a simple oil change. First, I scheduled an appointment, only to learn that Sullivan had overbooked for that day. Sullivan then rescheduled me for a day the shop was not open - resulting in 3 attempts to successfully get an appointment. Then, 2.5 hours in to getting my oil changed, the Sullivan team called to let me know that they had broken my dipstick and could not replace it - putting the broken part back in the car. Shortly after getting my oil changed I noticed oil leaking slowly out of my car and I planned to address it as soon as possible since I don't drive often. A few weeks later and after driving ~200 miles primarily on the highway, my check engine light came on, leading me to learn that my oil pan was cracked near the plug, and the plug itself was incredibly tight and stripped. There were no other scratches, dents, or abrasions - a different autoshop said it was most likely that the crack was caused by over-tightening the plug at my last oil change (completed by Sullivan). This autoshop also said this should have been caught at the beginning of an oil change if the crack were already present. Unfortunately I'll need to get the car repaired while out of state as its no longer drivable. I have been quoted $1200+ for the needed pair - needless to say this should not be result of a routine oil change.

Have been going to the Sullivan Tire location in Bedford NH for +15 years and happy there. So when my girlfriend needed to get her brake pads replaced I told her to come to this place near her house. As dishonest as they come. The car has a sensor to tell you when your brake pads as getting thin. They charged 40$ to diagnose the problem. I told this to the guy checking me out and he said this is their policy. If that s true it s messed up and makes you wonder what else are they lying about. Did they even replace the rotors? Did they change the brake fluid? The worst mechanic is the one you can t trust. Hope the $40 they padded my bill with was worth losing a customer and all my friends I ll tell to stay away from this place.

Excellent service and customer support. Javier answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. I drive an old car and Javier even took the time to help me with my radio antenna! The grounder for the antenna broke off and needed a good duct tape or poxy kinda fix. I am greatful for Javier s help

I first went in to Sullivan Tire in Somerville to diagnose and patch up a leak in my tire. That fix was super a positive and painless experience so I knew I d be back again. Later came back needing new tires and the service team was super helpful with finding an option that fit my budget without skimping on quality. Fast work, great communication throughout, and affordable. They don t upsell, if anything they find ways to cut you a deal. Definitely recommend this shop!

I had the most spectacular customer service experience with the team at this Sullivan's Tire & Auto Shop.We called on a Saturday morning after our car hit a pothole on the drive to Boston and was handling strangely. They got us in quickly and the Sullivan's team quickly identified that 1) our car wasn't safe to drive and 2) our repairs would be beyond the scope of work they do. Kevin delivered this news to us with a kindness and understanding that I've found to be rare in the car repair sector! They also refused to accept payment for the diagnosis. While we were figuring out how to get our car to a place that could manage the repairs, the Sullivan's team let us keep our car in their parking lot, since it wasn't safe to drive. We kept in touch with them for a few days while working things out through insurance, and each time we spoke to Kevin and the team, we were just so blown away by how nice they were!I wish we lived in Boston so that we could give this Sullivan's Tire & Auto Service all of our business!

Buy the warranty on the tires - it's SO worth it! I found myself adding air to my tires every 4-5 days for several weeks. It turns out that there was wear and tear between the valve and the rim, and SULLIVAN TIRE fixed it for FREE. I dropped my car off at 8am, and by 10:30am it was fixed! I also LOVE that they give me a LYFT ride to and from where I work. Great service! Great response! Sullivan Tire on Beacon Street knows how to treat and honor their work and warranty! Best tire shop ever!-JaneVFavid Sullivan Tire on Beacon St. fan

Terrible service, rude, and I will not be going back for services or buy new tires from them again. Made an online appointment for State Inspection, Oil changed, Tires rotated, balanced, and aligned. I purchased 4 new tires from them with Peace of Mind Package, 5000 miles ago. My wife brought the car in as scheduled and the guy said, they don't do State Inspections and that the website is wrong. He also said that he'll rotate the tires but since it is new, we don't need to have it balanced or aligned. He refused to do the work we signed up for and asked for. Even though we had an appointment, changing oil and rotating tires w/o alignment took 4 hours. Terrible service, rude, and I will not be going back for tire services or buy new tires from them again. Our experience might only relate to the Somerville location.

I came in a few weeks ago on a Wednesday. I only remember it was Wednesday because the worker behind the desk told me he was usually by himself on Wednesdays. (His name was Michael something I forget the last name, Angelo I believe it was? I know it was close to the painters name if not exactly.) Anyway I digress, all I can say is what a life saver!! I came in totally expecting my car to be dropped off for days because it was having trouble starting and a tire needed repairing. Michael said at first he could make an appointment, I told him it was an emergency and I needed the car to pick up my son from the airport the next day. He got me in right on the spot, even offered me a free ride home and back with Lyft! (What a great feature from you guys) had my car ready same day and he even put a coupon in that I forgot to bring, so I came back with it the next day just to show him I wasn t lying. 10/1000 experience! The technician was amazing as well, she was a deaf woman which was great to see a woman in the industry! I honestly can t see why this store has negative reviews I mean are we talking about the same Somerville store here?

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Communication was good and they answered all of my questions. The work was also completed earlier than expected. My experience with Sullivan Tire in Somerville could not have been better. I will be using this shop again in the future.

I see on the reviews that it s either mostly 5 stars or 1 star and some in between. I unfortunately had a 1 star experience. It was honestly surprising to me how dismissive the employees were of my experience since i have a very long-standing relationship with many Sullivan locations. Expecting me at 7:30am when nowhere on my confirmation does it say that I was expected at 7:30am. The service rep I spoke to who scheduled my morning drop off (separate from this location s staff) even said he was surprised that happened because I was doing an all day drop off so Why does the time even matter? Even after all the effort I went through to get my car there without further damaging the engine (i waited about 40 minutes for a 1 mile tow). In my file, it is clear that the issue is urgent. So to push my appointment forward 5 days when I arrived before 8am is just not good business. I ended up driving (when I shouldn t have) to the Brookline location where they not only took me in with NO appointment but they delivered the exceptional service i expect from Sullivan. I will never visit the Somerville location again. Why would I? Do better, Somerville.

They were helpful when I need to swap wheels and tires onto my Miata last minute . I was uncertain about removing the hub-centric spacers for my wheels and they gave me helpful advice on the phone. I still wanted to bring it in for them to do, and they fit me in same day. An other shop wouldn't give me the time of day to do a simple job like this. Very friendly and personable manager as well. Kevin, I think.

Absolute horrible service and rude customer service. There was zero communication that my car would not be serviced today. After taking time off work to have my front brakes replaced I am going to Muneer's Auto Repair in Revere, I had an amazing experience there and were able to fit me in without an appointment. Honestly was significantly cheaper too. DO NOT GO TO SULLIVAN TIRE IN SOMERVILLE a complete waste of time.

Unacceptable customer service. Came for a tire rotation and wheel alignment and dropped my car off for the whole day. When I came back in the evening to pick it up, the manager told me they had not run the wheel alignment (even though I specifically asked for it and it was on the invoice). Was told to come back another time next week when they were more free. Will not return.

I had unusual punctures in two different tires at the same time that were very difficult to locate. The team at Sullivan Tire put in extra effort to locate both punctures, carefully document them, and obtain exactly the two replacement tires I needed, even though they were extremely busy. Kevin and Michael, in particular, were very professional and supportive during a tough ordeal.

I ve been meaning to post this for a while now. BEWARE of shady service here. I took my car in to have a punctured tire patched. The puncture was well within the tread almost dead center and far enough from the sidewall that a new tire shouldn t have been needed. They told me over the phone that the tire couldn t be patched because it was too close to the sidewall, and I needed all four relatively new tires replaced. (They had less than 10k miles at the time.) I opted for only two, but they kept trying to force me to make a second appointment to replace the other two perfectly fine tires, which I refused. They told me the final price on the phone, but when I went to pick up my car there was an extra charge for replacing a tail light that magically stopped working later in the day...I ve taken my vehicles to other Sullivan Tires in MA and RI before with good results--stay clear of this particular one. These guys are full of bull.

I needed a simple transmission fluid change. They e-mailed me a fair quote and setting up an appointment online was easy. The service advisors were friendly and clear, and the wait room is comfortable. I did wait more time than I should have, but it was still reasonable. Since I was clear about what I wanted done, they charged just for that as agreed upon before, and that was a good price. However, at one point it felt like they were trying to dig deeper into things, opening up room for inflating cost. I give them the benefit of the doubt for professionalism, but I'd advise caution.

I stopped going to this place. I left my car to only have the oil changed. While it was there I received a call from a manager (or shift supervisor) and he started telling me how many things there are to fix, tail lights, license plate lights, some other lights. I was a little lost, and said yes to the tail light and no to the other stuff, but he kept pressing, saying that it s illegal. I said, I ll figure out if I need it later. When I came to pick my car up, he charged me for everything he mentioned on the phone (how convenient that it was discussed over the phone and not in an email). So an expected $50-60 bill came up to almost $200. Now I understand that I should ve made a scene right there and then, but again I felt shy and lost and had to pay. I don t feel that a customer needs to put an effort into not being tricked into fixing what they don t want. And surprise-surprise, they did an awful job fixing the license plate light, it was sticking out, hanging on a cord.

Quick turnaround, courteous and professional staff. Price is on the high end.I've brought my car here twice for tire service. The first time was after taking my car to a well-reviewed independent tire shop in the area, who couldn't mount my new (correctly sized) tires because they were "too stiff". I brought it over to Sullivan and 45 mins later they were mounted, balanced, and everything aligned. That said, it's called Sullivan TIRE for a reason. If you need engine work done look elsewhere. But for general tire mounting/balancing/alignment they are good.

I am so sad about my experience. I send my car, BMW 5 series, to them since I got a flat tire. When I got my car, the system cannot detect my tire pressure and the tire pressure light on the dashboard was still on. Then I drop my cars to them two more times. Finally they got the light off. They told me everything is good. Recently my rear brake was gone without any warning from the system, so I have to change it. I sent to BMW repair shop. They said my system was totally screwed. This is why there is no warning. and also my tire pressure is low, but the system did not tell me anything. So don t go to this store, they are so irresponsible. I feel so regretful to go there to fix my tire. And now my system is not working appropriately. I should let someone else know my experience so they can reconsider whether they should go to this store or not.
