Chestnut Motors and Paul, the owner is honest, reliable, easy to deal with and transparent. There are no surprise fixes or bills. They operate the shop in a very consultative manner.I've been a customer for many years after using a variety of other repair shops to "manage" my now 32-year-old sports car. Not only have they kept the car running in a most cost-effective way, but they've uncovered and fixed the many mistakes of previous repair shops.I found Paul by stopping a car of similar vintage at a red light and asking him where he got his service. My only regret is not having found him sooner.

Pesky exclamation point appears on the dashboard, addressed at CM by topping off tires with air- and explanation about sensitivity of tires in winter. Exclamation point reappears days (and 600 miles) later & the Highlander brought in again. Faulty gasket causing air leakage in one tire diagnosed within minutes- part ordered/ delivered/installed within an hour. This place is a miracle

I have been using Chestnut Motors for as long as I can remember. I trust Paul wholeheartedly and he has always taken great care of my cars. Last year he provided me with a pre-purchase inspection so I could feel comfortable moving forward with the purchase of a used car. He was able to squeeze me in and provide me all the detail I needed to make the decision. More recently he is taking great care of my Volkswagon CC with 150K miles on it. Only doing the work necessary to keep it safe and running and not trying to oversell me services we don't need...Highly recommended!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

I drove 3k miles across the country for a nursing job and my car died in a gas station the second day in town. I managed to get it running again but knew I needed a new starter. I used Chestnut Motors online feature for a quote and Paul got back to me very quickly. We spoke on the phone and I was amazed that he could get me in that very afternoon. Paul didn't promise anything but he managed to deliver a holiday miracle, as he found and replaced my starter by the next day. The cost was even cheaper than what he quoted. I am thankful that there are local businesses like Chestnut Motors. They run an honest shop and provide excellent service. Thank you Paul!

I brought my car in to have the following addressed:1) mild-to-medium vibration when applying breaks at highway speed2) Exhaust troubles (much louder than normal)3) E-brake wasn't braking.After picking up my car:1) Vibration was mildly improved but not fully resolved, despite Paul's diagnosis that replacing the brakes would solve it.2) Exhaust was better but still way louder than normal3) E-brake worked for a week, then returned back to it's prior condition.I brought the car back and asked the shop to re-look at all three issues. The results were:1) Vibration: no idea?2) Exhaust problem was their error. "Fixed" it free of charge.3) E-Brake was their error. "Fixed" it free of charge.I appreciated that they didn't charge for the 2nd round of repairs, but this isn't particularly noteworthy - any respectable shop would do the same. What IS noteworthy is that the exhaust still remains too loud and the e-brake, again, worked for a week then returned to its prior condition.I did not take my car back for a third time. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.Services: Auto exhaust system repair, Brakes

I have never walked away from anything involving a mechanic feeling as positively as I just did here. I called ahead because my car was having a strange issue I didn't understand, and they said they could take me in same day to throw it on the lift and take a quick peek to see if they could assess what the issue is for me. I showed up, the gentleman at the desk was very friendly, and sure enough immediately threw my car up to look through. Came back and let me know that the problem wasn't anything severe, that my car was perfectly safe to drive, and that I could fix the issue with them whenever I wanted to. And when I asked how much I owed for them taking a look at my car to figure out what was wrong, he told me not to worry about it.I've lived in the area for about 2 months, but for the first time in my life I think I've finally found a mechanic that I would feel safe going to in the future and would recommend to folks.

My new Ford needed it's first repair. I took it to Chestnut Motors because I had a good feeling about the owner Paul when I met him previously. In no time new brakes were installed, brake fluid topped off, and test drive done. I really appreciate the details and honest service. In choosing an auto repair service, there is no more important requirement than to have absolute trust that recommendations are truly in the best interest of the auto owner. And that is why there is no better auto repair shop in the area than Chestnut Motors. Paul and Carole always give the unvarnished truth in their assessments of the vehicle condition and need for repairs. I have been a customer for several years and have had three vehicles maintained and the repairs have all been made with the highest quality, very fair pricing and always with detailed explanations of why a repair was necessary and what to expect. Paul has been servicing several cars of mine and my daughters for several years in Chestnut Hill and Needham. His entire team are incredibly professional and customer oriented, while providing outstanding service at a reasonable price. After he diagnoses the problems, Paul informs us of the costs as well as his recommendation on how to proceed in a cost effective manner, including seeking recycled parts when such strategy makes sense. From routine service, state inspections, flat tires, to challenging repairs, we continue to experience the kind of service that keeps us turning to Chestnut Motors for all of our automotive service needs. I cannot explain why anyone would issue a negative review of this excellent and convenient business.

I have been a client of Chestnut Hill Motors for over 20 years. Paul Stein and his expert and knowledgeable technicians have taken care of every type of my cars from Mercedes, Hondas to VW Jettas. The service is reliable, thorough and I am always notified if there is an issue that needs attention when one of my cars is in for service. The quotes are honest, upfront and no surprises at pick up and check out. They have an efficient notification system when my car(s) are due for service. Scheduling is easy and appointment reminders are sent, making for prompt and timely servicing and repairs. I feel very fortunate to have such a great team of genuinely nice and courteous people take care of my vehicles over the years. Never had any issues.

My car engine died and Chestnut Motors was the only motor shop that accommodated my every request. Paul kept me informed throughout the whole process. The work done on the car was excellent and everything that was done to the car was explained in great detail. The work was fairly priced. I will not only bring my car to them for every car need from now on, but will also recommend this shop to all of my friends

I've been going to Chestnut Motors for a few years now and their great reviews is well deserved.I use to get my car serviced at center automotive in Needham, and boy was that a stupid decision. I had an issue awhile back where I would hear grinding noises every time I braked. When I pointed it out to center automotive they told me there was no issues with my breaks. It wasn't until i brought my car to Chestnut Motors did they properly diagnose and fix the issue. Ever since then, the owner has earned my trust for being fair, honest, and professional.This is the only place I get my car serviced and I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else, because you don't know if other places are competent or lie to make a quick buck. As a 22 year old female, it can be easy to have a mechanic or anyone who works on my car unfortunately take advantage of my very apparent lack of car knowledge. If you have car problems, Chestnut Motors is literally amazing. Paul is the bomb and is super nice. (I ve gone there twice in the past 3 months and he s been wicked helpful). Take it from someone who has way too many car problems, go there if you want your problem taken care of efficiently and considerately!
