We had a fantastic stay at the Jared Coffin House! The staff was outgoing and nice, and gave us some complimentary treats when they found out we were staying there as part of our honeymoon. It s right next to the Nantucket Tap Room (delicious food and drinks) and easy walking distance to many bars and drinks downtown. The amenities were wonderful, including a shuttle to and from the beach plus free beach towels. Our room was very small, but figured that was to be expected with an old historic hotel. We loved it overall! We only stayed two nights and next time hopefully will be staying longer!

Would have loved to give them a five out of five but unfortunately they drop the ball on breakfast. You were lucky to find an apple or an orange for fruit and nothing else. A place of this caliber if you're going to do a continental breakfast do it right make an assortment of fresh fruit available and healthy granola cereal. The other thing provide quality stronger coffee made in a quality percolator. Small things that can make a major difference in the start of your guests day.Other than that service was exceptional the building was exceptional The free bicycles were exceptional the location was exceptional! Our room didn't have a fridge but when we asked about it they had a guy move one in for us.Didn't hear any sounds in our room very quiet. We would return and hope they will step up their game for breakfast.

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff, but you can hear through the walls like the people next door are in your room. Literally spent all night listening to their TV, and then some guy snoring. Also had so little water pressure in the shower that it was unusable. For the price point, thoroughly unimpressed.

My family and I rented several rooms for the weekend. We had a great stay! The staff was amazing! Good food, great location, and a car service. This hotel is a sister of the White Elephant.Rooms: Rooms are nice and clean but, small.Food & drinks: Continental breakfast was very good, especially the coffee cake and croissant.Noteworthy details: The staff was always available and helpful! The hotel provides a car service too.

Definitely misrepresented. The room had paper thin walls with sound transmitted from every where. The bathroom was crawling with bugs. No amenities not even a glass in the bathroom. The breakfast was meager and looked inedible. The only good thing was the very well meaning and helpful front desk person Sanjay Raymond.Rooms: Paper thin walls and bugs in bathroom.

The Jared Coffin House is perfectly located, with a charming interior. Short walk from the ferry, surrounded by all the boutiques and restaurants, and a quick drive to the beach (at no cost by their courtesy car!). We had some issues come up during the check-in process, but their rooms manager, Omelia, was extremely caring and professional, and she took all the extra steps to ensure that we were taken care of. Additional positives about the hotel included delicious cookies in the room upon check-in, the most comfortable robes, continental breakfast included, and no-cost beach towel/chair rentals.

We stayed at the Jared Coffin House for a week over Memorial Day and had an incredible time. We loved the charm of the hotel and the authenticity to its whaling history. The staff was very kind, helped us organize our days, and always said hi with a smile. They made us feel so welcome, we looked forward to seeing them everyday. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the location with respect to downtown was unbeatable. We really don't have a single complaint, we can't wait to return.

We arrived early and as expected our room was not ready. We planned to take a bike ride. The staff graciously helped plan a route, gave us a bike map and spent time making us feel comfortable about our decision to see the Sankaty head light, a near 20-mile ride. In passing, I mentioned it was our first trip to the island and that we were celebrating 35 years of marriage. The staff seemed genuinely pleased with our safe return and we were surprised and delighted to see a chilling bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates and a lovely note wishing us a happy anniversary when we entered our charming room!Thank you Omelia Bramwell and your lovely staff at Jared Coffin House. If we have a chance to visit again, we will stay with you.

This was a great stay! Immediately when we walked in we can tell the room was clean and well taken care of. The bed was Okay to sleep on (I like a more firm mattress). The room was small but comfortably fit my partner and I. The women at the front desk were very helpful and gave us many ideas on where to go and what to do around Nantucket. I would recommend this place to anyone. Its full of so much history and just overall a great stay!

DisappointedNot at all as it was presented in the pictures. We were so looking forward to the allure that was presented in the website description. An elegant, beautiful and historic inn, the first mansion on the island! With all due respect, this historic property needs a touch up and the historical commission needs to take note.Pro s:- Location and proximity to town, shops, restaurants.- Complimentary continental breakfast each morning.- Bicycles and beach towels available to guests.- Complimentary parking. This is a pro and a con since although complimentary, there are not enough spots to accommodate all guests. With respect, we recognize that since this is a historical property, surrounding real estate is limited. However, guests are instructed to block-in other cars and leave keys at front desk so that staff can shuffle cars as necessary.Con s:- Beautiful historic home but sadly in disrepair- No elevator- Cleanliness in question- Interior noise level high due to age of the building.- Parking: as mentioned above, there are not enough spots to accommodate all guests. Guests are instructed to block-in other cars and leave keys so that staff can shuffle cars as necessary.- On-site restaurant Tap Room was advertised as being available 7 days/week however when we were there we were advised that they would be closed M/Tu despite the on-site sign saying that they d be open. Our experience:- Disappointing.- Window treatments in our room were wooden shutters. These shutters had no handles therefore making opening and shutting them to be a challenge.- Our east facing window had a window air conditioner unit in bottom half. This did not allow us to shut those wooden window shutters and therefore not allowing for privacy from the street nor shading from the early morning sun.- Our bathroom door was not able to close. There appeared to be some previous jury-rigging with some wooden blocks which prevented it from shutting.- While we understand COVID and it s staffing impacts, we were disappointed to see the same dirt and fragments on the carpeted interior stairs and hallways during our four day stay there.- We arrived two hours prior to the stated 3p check-in. Decided to see if our room was ready and if not, no problem. The front desk staff said that our room was not ready but being cleaned now and they would call us as soon as it was ready. We altered our plans accordingly, staying nearby since our room was being cleaned, as told. Two hours later, per the front desk, our room was still being cleaned and being inspected now . Very frustrating. We lost coveted vacation time, after all.Overall, we were so looking forward to the elegance of staying here but the experience did not prove to this. This establishment might carry a status name but there are too many other Inns in the local area that an give the same/better experience.

Honeymooned there in November of 1979. Very charming! Excellent food! Great staff. We had a room reserved, but had to change because the room was so tiny. We were surprised with a bottle of champagne on the house given that we were newlyweds. Beautiful gesture and a memorable stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Jared Coffin House for our 10 year wedding anniversary and for our first time visiting Nantucket. The hotel manager Omelia and the entire staff made the experience truly amazing and every detail special. The hotel location is perfect and has helpful amenities such as a courtesy shuttle, delicious continental breakfast, afternoon cookies and lemonaide, beach necessities and assistance with any trip activities/restaurant reservations. Will definitely be back and would not pick anywhere else!

Fantastic location and very nice area in general. The staff was 10/10 along with the amenities! The only downside being the rooms themselves, they're obviously very old with some cheaper remodels.

We always have a nice stay at the Jared Coffin House. The staff is always warm and friendly, the locations proximity to town and to the ferries is unbeatable, and they serve a nice daily lite fare for breakfast. We had a wonderful time exploring a couple of different beaches and various parts of the island on their complimentary bikes. The rooms are small but very comfortably appointed. Will definitely return!

Spent two nights at the Jared Coffin House and December and had a decent stay. We were in the Daniel Webster house and our room was spacious and we'll appointed. The staff was friendly if not remarkably so. Reception moved between the two buildings which was odd and confusing. The main building has a much more elegant lobby and sitting area but was closed on our first day. Overall it was a pleasant stay!

My husband and I celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary decided to go to Nantucket for the first time and chose Jared Coffin House. Best decision staying here, the staff is professional, kind and amazing. Omelia, Erica and of course Michael who could not do enough for us and we thank them all!!! Service in this industry is key and this leadership team is the epitome of this. Jared Coffin House is historic and beautiful, with a leading staff such as these folks, it made the experience that much more wonderful. We look forward to coming back next year and not only visiting this beautiful island but seeing these good folks again. Cindy and Marty Daly :)

Ok. I didnt stay here during my visit. But my visitors did, upon our rec. Since our wedding party stayed there ions ago, i am prejudiced. Friendly staff, rooms meticulous, good prices this year (is traffic down on island?) Food and beverage still needs work. But available nonetheless. Iconic downtown property.

For a place with what one might consider a slightly morbid name, Jared Coffin House is anything but. The minute you walk through the doors of the Main House, it s like you are teleported to a different era. With high ornate ceilings, plush old style furniture, and a chandelier that overhangs the lobby: the hotel is just overflowing in that New England way. My room was on the second from of the second house (just next door to the Main House ). It was a large sunny room with floral wallpaper and old school furniture, creating a sublimely quaint atmosphere. We happened to be there during Daffodil Day, a daffodil floral explosion, culminating in a vintage car parade.Jared Coffin House is located minutes walk from the centre , (its funny to say that seeing is the Island is tiny), with wonderful little shops and cafes to duck into. The hotel itself doesn t have a gym but we were given access to a gym within a different hotel, (that had a tiny weeny little gym, that could hardly be called that). The friendly staff provide you with a car service there and back, or give you an umbrella if you decide to take the 10 minute walk instead, apparently the weather can be fickle up there. The breakfast was more like a quick grab and go, with coffee, fruits yoghurts, and cereal, but the baked goods were super fresh and absolutely delicious. All in all a great stay.

Food is delicious and wider variety. You have to book in advance and the hostess showing those for lunch and dinners is extremely pleasant. The waiters are very friendly but not just enough because this is a very popular restaurant. You have to wait some little time for foods as they make them fresh as you see. It is worth the waiting.

Had a wonderful dinner outside on their patio. Still dining outside in November. Plenty of heart lamps. Good food , service and drinks. The roasted chicken was very well prepared and tasty

Horribly noisy. Especially any room towards the main desk. Paper thin walls. Parking was difficult to find. No sign. A flood light shines all night at the window blinds so its not exactly dark in the rooms. They need curtains. Shower takes awhile to get warm.

Old fashioned style hotel. Clean rooms. Comfy beds. Great helpful employees. Prime restaurant outside on the side that serves seafood and steaks and you can charge it to your room!!! I wouldn't have it any other way !

Unless you like staying in boutique historical houses its not really worth it. Staff was great and very helpful but I paid almost $150 for a room that was basically a closet with a single bed. Old creaky floors, historic paintings add to the ambiance, just not my gig.
