Dan doesn t even deserve 1 star. His unprofessionalism is unfathomable. My family and I have been customers for 15 years. The moment I requested a prescription he yelled out with frustration to stay put because they were closing in 10minuets at 6pm. How is it my fault that we happened to get the only available and last appointment at the hospital at 440pm and the doctor had called in the script for us just before closing? His hollering did not end there. Since when is lashing out at a customer for his staff members mistake acceptable? The check out women gave me a different customers prescription that my daughter is highly allergic to. Dan lashed out YOU NEED TO OPEN YOUR EARS BETTER . when in fact the woman never said a name or birthday to my face for confirmation. She looked at me through the window and called me over to her from across the room. The employee seemed very fearful of Dan. Dans has lost loyal customers and gained a bad review. I would highly recommended using a different pharmacy if you are on Nantucket.

Dan s pharmacy refused to take my insurance and lied about their reason for refusing. The story:The pharmacist issued and billed me for a prescription without prompting me for my insurance. When I noticed the error and requested they re-bill using my insurance, the pharmacist claimed there was an authorization issue that would take at least a week to resolve. I pressed him on this claim, because I ve never had a similar issue elsewhere. He eventually admitted that there was no problem, he just didn t want to take the time to refund and re-bill me. It s not worth my time. Take your business elsewhere. There are other pharmacies on the island.

Was trying to get my medication and was told it would be ready in 2.5 hours. Went back and they said it was ready that they just had to put labels on. A complete lie. 4 other people were with me at the same time and were told 2.5 hours and their medication wasn t ready either. The girl at the register told me that they were having a bad day because customers were getting irate with them. The owner heard me conversing with the other customers and threatened to call the police on me and kick me out of the store without my medication. He picked up the phone and I thought he was going to throw the phone at me. After pleading with the owner to get my medication because I really needed it for my health which he had no consideration about I was treated like a 5 year old child. The owner told me that they would take care of all the other customers before he filled mine. At the very end they waited until I was checking out to tell me that they didn t have one of my prescriptions. He will never receive my business again. I transferred my prescription to a more competent business. I recommend everyone do the same. He was one of the most rude and demeaning people that I have ever met on the island with no respect or consideration for his customers.

Service was abysmal. Look to the other reviews about, issues with insurance . I offered my insurance information over the phone and was told by a nice young person to just bring my card in when I picked up my meds. When I got there I put my insurance card on the counter. The woman in charge ignored it and charged me without entering the details of my insurance. Instead of paying $5 I paid $67. When I asked about this she got extremely angry and said I could come back in 3-4 hours. Seemed like a bait and switch to not have to deal with insurance. I imagine being a pharmacist out in Nantucket is difficult, especially during the summer, but this lady was extremely rude and I would advise you to go elsewhere.

They always try to convince me to pay cash instead of using my insurance, for one reason or another. It s become a nuisance and, after awhile, has started to feel like a Ponzi scheme. . Why would anyone prefer to pay out of pocket for medication their health insurance covers?? It s a bizarre method of operation that only benefits them and has zero upside for the patient.

I was on vacation with family in Nantucket and needed an essential prescription filled from my out of state Doctor. My Doctor's office would not call me back and after several days (7 to be exact) they called my prescription into the wrong pharmacy! I had spent hours, over multiple days, on the phone with my Doctor's office (while on my vacation) to no avail. I called Dan's Pharmacy in the hopes I could get them to help get my prescription transferred to them. I was so thankful when the Owner, Dan, actually answered the phone and immediately said "We will make this happen, don't you worry!" I cannot express how relieved I was to have someone finally pick up the phone and say they would help me. This was at 3pm and an hour later Dan's pharmacy had my prescription transferred and in my hands. Dan and his team are AMAZING and will go out of their way to help customers, whether they are new or established. I HIGHLY recommend Dan's Pharmacy and I cannot thank him/ his efficient team for taking time out of their very busy schedule to help solve a stressful situation for me.

Nothing but repeat issues at this pharmacy. Issues with not having medication in stock, not being able to transfer prescriptions without the proper adjustment of information, not being able to communicate effectively, not being able to honor prior authorization notices from insurance. I have now spent the past 4 hours attempting to have one prescription transferred, I was told that no one knows how to transfer it except for the main pharmacist. That is shocking that no one else on the staff was trained to transfer an adjusted prescription. As a branch of medicine, managing varying levels of life saving medication, I am floored that this is how you choose to manage your business.

Worst customer service ever! Tryed to pick up my medication with my insurance card and they flat out refused it they then told me to wait in the drop off section where I had to wait for 30 minutes and speak up to be helped just to be asked for a card that I have never needed to give to the pharmacy ever to pick up my medicine. My insurance doesn t even have the card that they re asking. So then I ask how much it would be to pay for it I say it s probably something really expensive and they go. It s only $500 and I m like that s expensive and the person working there laughs like I m sorry I have insurance to pay for my medicine and can t pay out-of-pocket like that s literally why I have insurance smh then I call the manager Dan he goes oh you probably didn t understand the question and we re also trying to not allow any insurance which makes no sense and then I say well, I have insurance I never had an issue at another pharmacy off island he responds Well you can talk to the pharmacist. (I alr did I was there 30+mins) so I explain to him that I already did and he s like well pick a different pharmacy then and just hung up. How do you refuse to give someone s medicine who has the right information that s flat out illegal!

Do not fill prescriptions here- they don t notify you if they are out of your medication and their phone line doesn t work if you try to call and make sure it s ready. Horrible customer service- I was sent to 3 different lines in the store because no one wanted to check if they even had filled my prescription, only to find out an hour later they didn t even have it. So incredibly frustrated by this experience

I work for a chain pharmacy and have had the misfortune of dealing with this pharmacy.Got hung up on twice by an unprofessional pharmacist who was extremely rude and belligerent, and was not able to transfer a prescription that a patient was in need of, resulting in the patient missing their evening dose of the medication. Will be reporting to the board of pharmacy, thanks.

Dan's Pharmacy is a wild place. I had the same issues with insurance as a lot of folks. We ended up haggling over the price, which was quaint

Pharmicist "couldn't be bothered" when I had a few questions about a perscription and my insurance, in spite of having all the details he needed at hand. He was quite rude, and when I asked a follow-on question, he replied "I don't know son, have a nice day" and hung up!! Too much business and cares too little? Go elsewhere!Ok, I have given Dan's a second chance (after their initial single star) and honestly, everyone there was extremely nice and very helpful. It actually was a pleasure to return several times to great overall service. Five stars now.

There is no other place better on Nantucket Island, than Dan s pharmacy. They are always happy, always willing to help out with questions and have assembled a crew that works very well together.

These pharmacists aren t just rude, they are downright belligerent and hostile to their patients. I m bewildered by their unwarranted, abhorrent behavior. My advice, USE A DIFFERENT PHARMACY.

In response to Ron Neumunz review...it's not the pharmacists' responsibility to entertain questions about insurance policies. You don't call your car mechanic to ask questions about auto insurance, or your contractor / builder to ask questions about homeowners' insurance. It's up to you to know the specific details of your insurance policy, such as formulary and non-formulary drugs, deductibles, tiers, co-pays, etc. Call the insurance company, specifically your PBM ( Pharmacy Benefit Manager ) to find out details about medication coverage issues. Usually, the customer service number will be on the back of your insurance card. Hope that helps.

Excellent place to go for all your needs! It is a great friendly, family owned business where everyone there is willing to help. This includes front store staff and pharmacy staff! The store is a lot bigger than the other pharmacies on island having two full floors of inventory! They even have walkers, wheelchair, reclining homeopathic beds in store and will come to your house to ensure quality. Through experience the owners also deliver prescriptions !!! They are all around awesome people

The young gentleman behind the counter was extremely rude - actually telling a customer to shut up and never come back - that s not the service they claim they provide in their phone hold message. Also that is not the service this owner s family receive at other local businesses including the place of my employment. Not going back.

I called during a pandemic to inquire about a breast pump, only to be told I have to come in and look for myself. Not so easy with a newborn! After I sent my husband to pick it up I realized we paid double the price. It s literally 50% more expensive than online!

Becky the pharmacist is rude, condescending and could use quite a bit of unpaid time-off to reflect on her actions towards customers.

Would leave 0 stars if possible... use of profanity towards clients. Extremely unprofessional. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere.
