I want to thank South County auto repair staff for repairing my AC in my vehicle (Feb 24) but I also want to give a special S/O Mr. John. He s a real professional, a man of his word, kind human being, spoke clearly about the issue I was facing with my AC after I left my vehicle overnight at the shop. He gave me a great quote as I was shopping around to repair my AC. I would recommend anyone to go check out South County auto repair shop and go see Mr. John, he will take care of your vehicle and give you reasonable quotes, his shop does excellent quality work. Before my truck got repaired, my AC went out on me before the summer started last year in 2023, it was miserable during the hot summer days, Mr. John ensured me that he can take care of my vehicle repair my AC at a reasonable price and not have any more worries, it feels great to have my vehicle AC working again. This took two days to repair. Thanks again South County auto repair shop and Mr. John who I highly recommend.

Professional mechanics that replaced my steering rack when it was blown--after trying first to see if a cheaper repair would work. Fair prices, not pushy even when noticing one of my tires was bare to the wires, and I opted to drive off to replace the full set elsewhere. 10/10, would use again and would recommend.

Exceptional service from Mr. John and his team. Mr. John is kind, professional, and has wealth of knowledge and expertise about cars. Each time I drop my car off to South County Auto, I know that it's in good hands and will be fixed in timely manner. I highly recommend this shop. It's absolutely the best!

Best mechanic I ve ever done business with. Straight forward, and very understanding. Literally will show you the issue on your vehicle for yourself, no run-arounds or finesse here! Prices are very reasonable, service is very fast and efficient. John and his crew are the best hands down!

This place and this team is Phenomenal. My starter had died overnight and I was traveling from Colorado, I knew nobody and was stuck at a hotel. John was able to get my part ordered in quickly get my car Towed to his shop and get it handled all extremely quickly. There was no surprise on the back end as John was able to break down the entire price for me before work even started.I cannot express how grateful I am for the help and easement of a stressful situation. Definitely recommend to anybody local or from out of town, they ll take care of you.

Super nice!! Very understanding to our situation, helped us chill so we re weren t so stressed about everything. Completely broke down the price of everything and pointed us to some places to eat and hang out while we waited. John was so kind, thank you THANK YOU!

I called and explained the noise of the brakes. John said I could come in and they d look at it. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and they fixed it right away. I was able to do work for my business while I waited at a table in a comfy chair in the waiting room. He showed me the old brake pads and rotors as well the new brakes that were in their place. I was very pleased with the service overall.Service: Brake service & repair

We called and spoke with Mr. John who was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to go to his shop where our rear axle on our Porsche was done. Other shops charge three times the labor fee. Honest service.

Updating this review. They really didn't do a good job. Poor attention to detail or perhaps it's an utter lack of concern. Connected my airbag without a ground wire and made me pay for completed job. Then, they wanted we to pay again to fix their screw up. Only realized something was up because the horn didn't work. If I happened to get into an accident, would the airbag even deploy? That was a red flag for me. I shan't be going back.

I have been taking my care to this shop for the past 10 years. I have a 2001 Lexus ES300, and thanks to Mr. John (the owner) I basically have a brand new car. They have worked with me to replace almost everything on the car. Most recently, I had to have the engine replaced. Wasn't happy about that, BUT, Mr. John was able to find me a used, low mileage engine, installed it and didn't break my pockets. Some people feel their prices are a little high, but please consider the rising costs of Everything, AND paying for RELIABLE, KNOWLEDGEABLE and TRUSTWORTHY employees. Mr. John is a man of his word and about taking care of business. Easy to talk to, professional, honest, and assertive. He replaced the exhaust and steering column on my Chevy Classic. My car sounds amazing and rides smoothly. The prices are respectable because the work is exceptional. Very happy with John s work and service! He replaced the engine mounts and the oil pressure switch, solving two major problems rattling and a leak. He charged me nothing for a diagnosis, and instead of talking vaguely about what might be the issues as another mechanic had done (before charging me $110 for that privilege), he showed me what the issues were, giving me confidence the $1200 job would resolve them. He knocked one of the other mechanic s theories out of the running from the get-go, saving me a few hundred dollars. He did the job on the quoted cost and on time. Dropped my car off to south county early this morning not knowing what was wrong with my car the guys took a look at my car and got everything I need done in no time my car feels much better than when I dropped it off and I m happy to say that I ll be returning back to south county auto for all my car repair needs. John was great. Service was above and beyond and you wouldn't mind spending your money on quality work. You can actually trust this place and prices are fair. I am not from the area and my vehicle broke down and he really did his best to get the parts ordered and my power steering fixed so that me and my family could get back home safely. I went to South County Auto Repair while visiting family for Christmas. My car starting having engine trouble and they were the nearest mechanic. The owner and staff provided me excellent service and repaired my car the same day of my appointment. My car was stalling pretty bad due to bad sparkplugs and i needed to get that fixed as well as an oil change. I had called and spoke with John who was pretty knowledgeable and very helpful. They got me in and out just in time for my work appointment! Quick and professional customer service! I would definitely bring my baby back for service in the future!

Mr John and his staff know what they're doing! I dropped my car off with him and he went out of his way to pick me up from my house once it was fixed. My car runs like a dream and I'll be sure to be back when I need my car repaired.

Very unprofessional and rude. My car broke down and this was the shop that was supposed to accept my warranty, then they never sent the invoice over to warranty company to get paid and told me they won't fix my car until they get paid from the warranty company, if you know warranty companies they typically don't pay the shop until they confirm with customer that issue has been fixed I was from out of town for a wedding in DC on a Friday and they didn't do their job of sending the invoice over to warranty company until 4 pm that Friday shop closed at 6, then when they found out how they would get paid from warranty my bill went from the original quoted price of $600 and some change to $900 and come change then leaving me with $300 and some change to pay out of pocket which I was okay with because I needed my car I was stranded with children, then they flat out told me were not dealing with this anymore until Monday. Owner was flat out yelling in my face so I had to get my car towed from this shop to a whole different town, thankfully because the part he had was a used part from another car that probably would of broke on me as well so he was trying to sell me a over priced used part, steer clear if your not from this town this shop is located find a better shop. Save yourself the headache and stress!

Was driving down to DC from NC for stickers and gambling and needed total break repair. These guys provided excellent service. They saved my trip! They were a little hard to find, but all the best hidden gems are!

CAUTION AND WARNING SIGN - In June 2020, I brought my car to Mr. John to inspect for a tranfer case problem, in which is a very expensive job and a very problematic repair for your vehicle if it isn't diagnostic earlier. After Mr. John test drove my car, he stated my car ran fine and he couldn't detect an issue. Therefore, he inspected my car underneath after it was raised up above ground level. Mr. John brought me into the garage part of his shop, showed me by pointing to my axle and a seal that needed repair. Mr. John convincingly and adamantly stated, "there's nothing wrong with your transfer case, this seal (pointing to it) needs to be replaced and your axle". He assured me that there was nothing wrong with the transfer case! I ended up paying an estimated $1500 for Mr. John to replace my right axle and the seal. Well Mr. John was dishonest and not truthful, by November 2020 my car was undriveable due to a loud noise on the front right passenger side of my car. Immediately, I called Mr. John and had him look into the issue because my car was last serviced by him for repair of the axle and the seal on the front right side. After Mr. John finished assessing my car, he informed me that it was my transfer case. My BP jumped to 1,000, I told Mr. John that he was a "flat out liar" because he had told me in June 2020 just less than 6 months ago that nothing was wrong with my transfer case. Plus, I paid $1500 for nothing because Mr. John was untruthful that my axel and seal needed to be repaired. Due to Mr. John's dishonesty and deceptive practice I ended up paying $5,000 to get my transfer case repaired. Again, BEWARE AND CAUTION paying for a major repair with South County Auto Repair. ALWAYS ALWAYS GET A 2ND OPINION BUT I WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING MY CAR TO THIS SHOP. BECAUSE IF HE DID THIS TO ME I'M CERTAIN HE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND WILL DO IT AGAIN! IF POSSIBLE ALWAYS WRITE A REVIEW ON THIS SHOP IF YOU HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, THIS IS A MEANS TO ALERT OTHER CONSUMERS! - A Very Dissatisfied and Disappointed Customer!!

I had my water pump install by mr. John in he misdiagnose my car in charge me 300 dollars for something i didn't need done he was rude in he was very disrespectful but good don't like ugly trust me..
