This Business certainly treated me more than fair. As a motorist passing through Hagerstown I had a spark plug blow out. Was given a appointment for Friday and got in early due to a cancellation. They took care of my truck and it's not had a problem getting back to Kentucky, 500 miles. Price was fair, work was excellent and I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. They are great.

Came to get rear break pads and rotors on 3/31. About 4 weeks ago the breaks started to squeak. I assumed they were the front because we did not get those done. I made an appointment at another auto shop to get FRONT brakes done only to discover it's the back brakes! They were BAD I mean medal to medal as if they had never been changed in the first place. It is September 15th. So about $430 for brakes will only last about 6 months! When I called to speak with a mechanic for clarity I was told there could possibly be a caliber issue. They acknowledged that there HAD to be some underlying issue because new pads as rotors should not wear that fast. Nope! Had a full inspection, everything taken out to check if there was a blockage or locked caliber and nothing was wrong. No underlying issue so what kind of brakes last 6 months? I don't drive any far distances, just normal use.Of course was no warranty so I just have to pay for rear breaks twice within a 6 month time span. And the owner is never available to speak with anymore. My entire family has used Roy's in the past, nice people but the quality of service has definitely declined over the last couple years. Sad to say we will not be back.Service: Brakes

The car I took to them to "fix" almost got my mom and nephew killed. My moms car wouldnt start on Monday July 12th, after some effort i got it to turn over. I drove it to Roy's and had them check what the problem was. After finding out what they needed to fix jordan quoted me $2062. Ok. I knew it needed a tune up, so I asked him to do that while he did the other work. Turns out that tune up was an additional $1800. He didn't even consider giving me a courtesy call to let me know this huge extra expense for the extra parts. I didn't appreciate being that shocked when he told me the final cost. When I take my mom to go to pick up the car and pay the bill, another shop worker drove the car out front for us.After she buckled my nephew in his car seat she get in to drive off. She get about 600 feet from the building and knows something is not right with the way it is driving. She does a u turn and bring it right back. She had to stop the guys in their car because they were about to leave for the day. She explains the front end is wobbling. So Jordan gets in the car to drive it, and that's when my mom and I notice the front right tire is almost about to fall off. They didn't tighten any of the lug nuts! One of them had fallen off on the road before she had turned around. Now if she would have gotten down the road a ways that whole wheel would have came off, most likely causing a wreck, and could have gotten her and my nephew in that car killed or seriously injured, not to mention any bystanders caught in the cross hairs.I know lug nuts don't just completely loosen that much in such a tiny distance. He then tries to tell me that he personally drove it and didn't notice any problems. Which felt like a slap to the face because he just straight lied to me. An experienced mechanic drove that car and couldn't tell how bad the whole front end wobbled. I don't buy that. After he had to replace 2 of the lug nuts, and tighten not just all of them on that wheel, but also on the left side too, he told me it sometimes just happens that they come loose. No, not that loose where they fall off.So not only did he lie straight to me, he then tried making excuses for his unsatisfactory, life threatening neglect of the work he did. Or didnt do I should say.I am currently trying to get in contact with "Roy" the owner. Apparently Jordan, who works there, and also the other mechanic have no idea how to reach the owner. And there is no manager they report to because he quit.If anyone actually read this whole review and can give me advice on how to contact to owner of this garage I would be grateful.

a little over a year ago, i brought my car here to get A LOT of work done .. the bill was over 3k, which isn t the issue .. the issue is that what replaced and fixed is all failing and has been for quite some time now . had 2 other mechanics look at the car & tell me that this car looks like it hasn t been touched & that what was supposed to have been fixed should ve lasted MUCH longer . (even funnier is that i was in foster care at the time & DSS paid for my car to be fixed .. they re contacting the BBB)not only that , when we dropped off the car , we were told it would be a week or two .. we didn t get the car back for over a month & then was told someone was sabotaging the store and our car was hit in that crossfire . like ok ?we recently took it back bcuz our car is making a noise , they said it was the breaks and the wheel bearings . turns out nothing is wrong with the wheels bearing but it does need new breaks .. why ?! they JUST got them replaced .now , our car is not a long distance driver we only keep it local .. one of the issues we had was the breaks (which they said were replaced) . our breaks are in TERRIBLE shape . i called yesterday & asked about warranty , longevity , and replacing . the man who answered said that they should last 3-4 years and that they d be happy to look and fix them for me .. then i told him that i got them done there & they should be under warranty , based on what he said . his entire attitude changed & he was like well if you re putting a bunch of miles on the car and driving it all the time it s obviously gonna wear down the breaks but you said that our breaks should still be good ? hmm interesting .i wouldn t recommend this place to anyone . after reading these comments i see this is a pattern with them . y all need to stop ripping people off & just close down .

Very good experience! Very nice & personable! I was updated on the work every step of the way. I was able to get my truck fixed & back to me in a reasonable amount of time considering what needed to be fixed. (Transmission)I recommend if you're in the Hagerstown area. I wound up in a position no one wants to find themselves in...I was broken down while driving from Baltimore to Southern West Virginia. After a lot of "no"s from other service centers when I inquired about same day inspection, Roy's gave me a much needed "yes". The mechanic was thorough, super informative, did not talk down to us or try to upsale. Infact, he had the kindness to tell me if I could get it back to Baltimore, that would be my best bet. He knew keeping it there to have them service it would mean a weekend in a hotel in Hagerstown (he even made a great Mr. Deeds joke about it). Being that my car is a Kia, he also knew that I might be able to have them cover services, due to on going engine issues with Kias. A small adjustment was made to help get it home and I was charged way less than I thought I would be.All in all, I could not have gotten luckier with my service provider in this tense situation.

My sisters vehicle was towed here after my nephew got a flat tire while driving. They were expected to give an estimate on a tire, which ended up being two that got damaged, no problem. They did end up letting us know about the fender liner that was damaged and wires that ran next to it needing repaired. The initial estimate, and when i called, verified that they were charging 55$ PER TIRE just to mount and balance. Thats crazy high. They were not very clear in communication and the estimate they emailed my father was not even complete. The guy i talked to on the phone even stated himself that he had not yet gotten the prices for the electrical plugs, washer fluid pump, or reservoir. After seeing the prices I decided to have her car taken elsewhere. They ended up charging 118 DOLLARS for DIAGNOSTIC FEE. They did not test, disassemble, or diagnose any symptoms or issues but rather, gave an INCOMPLETE ESTIMATE on damages able to be seen visually. I understand if you want to cover your shop time with a rack fee or something to cover the technicians time but you need to communicate ANY fees you plan to charge to the customer and get PRIOR AUTHORIZATION for that. Over 100 dollar diagnostic fee is NEVER something that should be assumed when you have a car towed in for a dang tire replacement, plastic fender liner damage or not. Once they saw that and decided that the safest thing to do would be to put it on a rack and further evaluate it, the call shouldve been made to ask for diagnostic time and get authorization for the price. SHADY PRACTICES BY QUESTIONABLE PEOPLE,......AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We were 1.5 hours into an 8 hour road trip and experienced a loss of collant. Nothing I was going to be able to fix myself. We got off the highway and googled a car repair place near me. Roy s came up and was well reviewed so I called them. The gentleman answering the phone was friendly and said they would take a look. Long story short, it was a significant repair that took about 3 hours and was done well. Everyone working there was very friendly and really cared. They got us back on the road and saved our trip!!! Outstanding establishment, if I lived in the area I would use them for everything!!!!!! Could not have been a better experience!!!!!!!! If I could rate them as a 10 out of 5 I would.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I originally left a comment but after finding the owner blocks comments of customers who do not see eye to eye with their performance I d thought I d review instead. The previous management is not the problem. Lack of since is probably closer. My fleet of 19 vans used to frequent here and I could guarantee that I d get correct diagnosis and repairs that wouldn t break the bank, as a not for profit that was my top concern as Children s safety will always come first.True character is clearly being displayed on this page, judge that as you will.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Air conditioning, Oil change

On the way to vacation we developed a sudden exhaust issue. Happened to be near an exit and had already planned to stop there for gas and breakfast. While getting gas we looked up and saw Roy's. Worth a try (we didn't have a lot of options,). Walked in and they looked at it, figured out a fix, got a part from the parts store and had us back on the road in under 2 hours for a very fair price. Good guys!Service: Exhaust

Took Mother-in-law s car in is it wouldn t start. They put a new starter which was $550. Then it needed brakes and a shock and a few other things. Quoted $2062 for all that. Ok cool. Told them to give it a tuneup as well while it was in there. Received a phone call when it was done ..$3800 was total. WHAT.??? $1800 for a tuneup. I m just saying a phone call would ve been nice. One minute of there time to let me know. Car is probably only worth $2000. Maybe it s part my ignorance but I never thought a tuneup on a car would be $1800. I KNOW WHERE ILL NEVER GO AGAIN!!!!!

I had tire issues this morning and was very anxious about being able to get on to my commute in time, and these gentlemen got my car all sorted in about twenty minutes! Not only that, but they were extraordinarily generous when it came to payment! They were very helpful, kind, and professional: highly recommend!

Took my girlfriends Honda Pilot here to have two leaking tires checked/plugged. Walked in the front door no place to stand for all of the parts deliveries stacked up in the 5x5 entryway. Waited for about 5 minutes there while who I'm assuming is the manager/owner whatever sits in the back playing catchup with someone. The mechanic Mark comes in on an unrelated matter asks me if I've been helped, I said not yet. He called the guy out of the office to help me. So he sidetracks Mark to plug my tires. The fast service from Mark is the reason for the two extra stars. So after Mark fixes me up. Very polite and hard working gentleman. He tells me what I owe if I've got cash. Well, no I didn't. So, I go inside tell the guy that is now manning the counter. Different guy than before. I tell him I had three plugs put in. The guy from before yells out from the office cash or credit. So I say debit card. Now get this. It would have been $30 cash $10 a piece.(pretty much what I was expecting ) Instead it was $15 each with the card. How in the world can you justify ripping people off like that is way beyond me. (I could almost be on board with a $5 charge overall when even $1 would be overcharging but to charge me $15 for a single transaction WOW I mean come on) I'm sure that you will though judging by how you've responded to all of the other negative comments not that there are a lot of them. Just so you know I think people hand out 5 stars way too much. Just for receiving what they are paying for. 5 stars should be for people that go above and beyond what's expected or just doing the minimum to get by. This is not a 5 star shop.

This is an outstanding and exceptionally trustworthy shop.On a drive from Washington DC to Ohio with my family, our van lost brake pressure during a quick stop at the Hagerstown exit. This was the closest shop I could find to limp the van to.Within a few minutes, I d described the problem to Alan and he had our van up on the lift and had an update for us shortly after that. Long story short, we had a repaired rear brake pad bracket, new pads, and new brake fluid a few hours later.Alan and his shop earned this review at this point. They didn t just get the work done quickly so we could get back on the road, they charged us as fairly as I think is even possible. They knew we were passing through - they weren t trying to earn a customer for life. They were just trying to do their job well and fairly, and we greatly appreciate that honesty and credibility. If you live near this shop, you should become the customer for life that I would be if I lived there. Thank you Alan and everyone else there that helped get us back on the road safely for our drive home.

My head was whirling over the $400+ quote from a dealership and I happened to drive by Roy's Quality Car Care. I stopped in and explained my problem, I had the required part but couldn't detach the connector for the MAF sensor. The guy up front called a tech who kindly detached the connector and answered all my questions. Fixed it myself for $12. Roy's Quality Car Care has my business hands down.Service: Auto maintenance

The communication was rough. Every time I would talk to someone, they would tell me something different. At one point with my car being there for two days, I was told I never gave them permission to work on it. After 4 days, they decided that is was the engine and that I needed to get it towed to the dealership but not after first having me pay 130 dollars for a diagnostic check. They also tried to tell me that I told them it was the alternator, when I said the tow truck driver thought it might be the alternator.

We had just started the last day of a cross country road trip to discover a flat tire. These guys went out of their way to get a replacement tire (they didn't have one in stock) and get us back on the road in under 2 hours. They then called to check in with us the next day to make sure we had arrived at our destination. They were fast, efficient, reasonably priced, and cared.

I came in with a quick emergency. My car over heated on the way to get my kids to school. Sheetz pointed me to them and they were super helpful and nice. They helped in a hurry and I couldn't be more greatful for their help. I would definitely go back to them next time I need work done.

I had been taking my car to Roy's for years before relocating to Florida. I cannot fully describe how excellent the customer service is here. Every time I came in for service I was greeted by name by the manager, Alan. A year ago I had to transfer my tags from Pennsylvania to Maryland and didn't have time to get the state inspection done before they expired because of my work schedule. Alan offered to drive my car and get the inspection completed for me while I worked so that I wouldn't be driving on expired tags. I've never experienced the level of professional customer service that I did here, and if I could, I would drive back to MD every time I needed an oil change just so Roy's could do it for me.

absolutely terrible experience with these people. They tried to rip us off in every way possible. They lied to us to try and get us to leave our car in their lot another day, they tried to charge us for 2 days of storage even though the car was there for less than 24 hours. There were random extra fees on the bill which they had no explanation for being there (he took them off when he found out my girlfriends lawyer was the guy that had already sued him for his sketchy practices). Blue grey towing and roys quality car care are both owned by the same people, yet the woman at the front desk had no idea why our bill was so much because the towing company just sent her an invoice even though the guy controlling the bill owns both businesses. I would just avoid these two businesses all together. Dude literally has two seperate businesses on the same lot and has his employees act like they know nothing about how he owns and manages them both. Our original bill was $240 and ended up at $160 when we called them on all of their BS. I m sure he will respond to this with some lie about how it was all our fault, because as evident from his responses to other reviews on his businesses, he is an extremely insecure man. Probably because his businesses are illegitimately run and managed with the sole purpose of taking your hard earned money out of your pockets. I suggest you take your business to somebody who will respect you and your money, and who hasn t been sued over their terrible business practices.

The wrapping of a hay bail got stuck underneath my car while I was driving on the highway. I pulled over searching for a service shop and someone directed me to Roy s. When I pulled up someone helped me immediately and removed the wrapping from underneath my car. This was really stressful for me as I was from out of town and traveling alone. Roy s helped me quickly and were very kind! I am so thankful they were there to remove the wrapping and help me get back on the road!

After reading reviews on here and being brought to this shop by AAA, I felt pretty good. But in actuality, this shop exceeded expectations. Alan and crew were every bit as professional and competent other reviews would indicate. The crew there worked almost the entire afternoon trying to pinpoint a problem with my car. They ran the tests and unfortuantely it came down to my car's engine being a total loss . They were so helpful in helping me figure out what to do next since my fiance and I were moving from another state so both our vehicles were totally loaded. And they didnt try to sell me or convince me to dump any more money into the car. What they charged me for diagnostics was way less than expected onsidering how much they had to do to find the problem. The amount of business this shop has speaks for itself. If you are having trouble with your car anywhere near this shop do what you can to get to them. You will be impressed.
