Terrible service and terrible costumer service. Not sure who the old guy is in the front, but he gets very unprofessional when you give an opinion or question how they do their diagnostic routines. They charge you $150 without actually inspecting the transmission itself or what is causing the issues with the car. Instead, they scan it with their machine and check the dipstick all for the price of $150. When you ask if any codes or if they replace the fluid or filter, the man will say he's been doing this for so and so years instead of giving an actual input as to what might cause the issues.(Ps: Not trying to use the racist card here, but seem as though most of the negative on here and other review sites comes from black costumers who had the same issues regarding the staff also.)

Jim Jennings is the rare auto mechanic that genuinely gives me a piece of mind dropping off my vehicles. They've taken the time to explain the problems and on multiple occasions saved me money when they easily could have suggested more work was needed. Can't recommend enough!!!

Mr. J.C is the man! I called to have my transmission fluid changed out, he told me they were backlogged at the moment but to call later in the week for availability. When I called back he remembered who I was and worked around my schedule to have my car serviced and return the same day. The utmost professional and knowledgeable! Awesome shop!!

Didn't get any work done , called about getting fluid change on my LS460.Call several other shops first before I called them. What a great experience on the phone. Spoke with JC not only was he extremely knowledgeable about my car took the time to explain alot I didn't know about my Lexus.I can definitely say no question when I need transmission work on any of my 3 vehicles I'm going there !!!!

Terrible, slow service. Had my Titan there 5 times over a 4 month period less a week of it in my possession breaking down with a recurring issue. After all this time of them holding my truck hostage the issue still isn't fixed. Never even bothered to offer or pay for a loaner. Terrible garage, terrible service. Won't ever use them again.

BE WARNED!!!! A week prior to my car breaking down I had planned on going to Jim Jennings shop for a transmission tune up Because I was happy to see some good reviews and many decades in business, so I felt they would be a trustworthy place to do business. So naturally when my car broke down I had it towed trusting that I would get an honest opinion and fair quote. WELL!! Not only did they take five days to diagnose it after telling me one or two days their news was that it needed a transmission replacement and the transmission with no labor would cost me $9,000. I literally laughed out loud .I researched remanufactured transmissions and the highest was $3,000 from top companies. So I spend another $200 to have it towed to aamco for a second opinion. And wouldn't you know it wasn't the transmission at all. It was the drive shaft that was broken and damaged the oil pan. So one drive shaft oil pan job was $3,000. And they even showed me what went wrong...so be extremely careful when using these guys they are using many years in business to cover up fictitious repairs needed!! And take advantage of people who don't know better or care to look for another price...HOW UNFORTUNATE..I asked to speak to the owner twice to no avail..If you go here And are being told you need a transmission replacement or anything. For that matter, I implore you to get a second opinion. Do not take Jim Jennings shop word for anything.most people can't afford a second opinion or tow to another shop so they rely on these men for doing the right thing.... people just blindly trust this place ....and it's unwise to do so!! I almost lost more than $10,000 by thinking the better of this place and am so grateful I am being treated fairly at AAMCO...I'm deeply bothered by Jim Jennings business practices because God knows how many people get burned like I almost did......once again..BE WARNED AND DEFINITELY SEEK A SECOND OPINION..if I could give minus 5 stars I would because they are crossing moral and ethical lines here

I can't recommend them highly enough!! They are extremely honest and take great care of their customers. They are one of the few old-fashioned businesses left out there that actually care! They do great work and I've been pleased with the outcome every time I've taken one of my vehicles there.

Jim Jennings was a great, stress free experience when my clutch went up. They make everything as easy as possible and work hard to accommodate situations. In a day of age were customer service seems to decreasing all around you, Jim Jennings holds strong as top tier. They re reputation of honest quality work still stands today. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion that was having transmission issues that ultimately were electrical in nature. JC and Steve at the front desk walked through the problem, how it impacted the car (ie, why I felt what I felt when I drove it), and how they would fix it. I appreciated that they took the time to explain what the parts they were replacing did and how meticulous the work was to properly repair my car. I have had my car back for about 8 days now, and I will say it shifts better than it has in a long time. I strongly recommend them.Services: Transmission, Electrical

Jim Jennings Transmissions is my go-to place for any transmission issues and I'll explain why in this review.I currently own a 2010 Hyundai Genesis coupe. At 103k miles, my slave cylinder had given out, as I was out and about on a Friday afternoon. I had no idea what I was going to do, or who to call, stuck in the middle of an intersection with a bunch of angry people behind me. I had called a couple different shops around the Baltimore area, but even they had recommended I go to Jim Jennings for the repair. And boy, am I glad I did.The folks at Jim Jennings were incredibly honest and communicative through the entire process. They got to my car quickly, let me know what the issue was, and let me know my options for fixing it. I went ahead and asked them to replace the entire clutch assembly, and they were able to do so within a single day of getting the parts. I ended up getting my car back 2 days before they had originally estimated the repairs would be done, despite them having 6 cars to do repairs on ahead of me.As well as working quickly and doing the job right, their work is very reasonably priced. It's hard to find a shop that will do good work without absolutely breaking your bank, but Jim Jennings did exactly that. As well as doing very reasonably priced work, they also offered warranty with their repairs, as long as I bought through their vendor, which was only a little more than I was able to find on my own. It is very much so worth paying a bit extra for warrantied parts.All in all, I had an amazing experience at Jim Jennings. One week later (of not so nice driving) my clutch is strong. No slips, grabs lower in the pedal, and grabs hard. For as long as I'm in the DMV area, I will absolutely go to Jim Jennings Transmissions for any clutch or transmission related issues, and I highly recommend that you do so as well.Service: Transmission

Finding a good mechanic or repair shop is much like finding a good doctor. It can be very difficult. When you do find one, you make sure to hold on to them! That's how I feel now about Jim Jennings Transmission. When the driver's side adjuster and axle stub detonated in the rear differential of my 2006 Pontiac GTO, I was sweating bullets. Didn't know if it could be fixed, or how much it would cost, or what I would loose in car quality and performance after the repair. J.C. worked with me at every step, sharing both the good & bad news, as the repair unfolded. He was patient and took a creative approach to the direction of the repair, being willing to do some research to find a best solution for me. Before coming to Jim Jennings, another shop had quoted the only possible direction as being a complete rear differential replacement, with a factory re-manufactured stock rear. Since my differential had been upgraded, replacing the weak internals of the stock unit, I had no interest in going backwards in terms of performance or quality. So, repair, if possible, was the direction I needed to go in, and J.C. and the fine mechanic that did the work, found that path for me, and made it work. The repair wasn't cheap, but I have no problem with paying good money for good value. I couldn't be happier, and any future drive-train work I may need done, Jim Jennings will get my business. I highly recommend Jim Jennings Transmission!

When it comes to cars I'm not a mechanical person. I had a problem with my transmission and Jim Jennings Transmission was referred to me by a good friend. I took my vehicle there to be serviced. The staff were polite, respectful, honest and helpful!In past experiences dealerships/mechanics usually tried and get over on woman, but not here at Jim Jennings. Mr. Jennings, J.C. , and Ray take a lot of pride in their work and their customer service. They are honest, respectful and dependable.After my vehicle was serviced and I went home, I noticed something that did not appear to be correct. I was able to bring my vehicle back in. My vehicle issue was addressed and taken care of with no hassle. Again the staff was great! I would recommend Jim Jennings Transmission to everyone. Thank you Mr. Jennings and staff for your wonderful Customer Service!

I knew I had some sort of issue with my transmission so my dad referred me to Jim Jennings. They definitely exceeded my expectations! The whole team is very professional yet friendly. After the problem was discovered, JC went over every little detail with me and helped me understand what he was talking about. He even advised what my best option would be without trying to take all my money like other places do. When I went to pick up my vehicle, Gary, again, went over every detail to help me understand and even gave a little transmission education lesson. I was originally referred by Good Year. I must say it was truly a blessing. Although I wasn t able to get the repairs that were needed ( could not afford a transmission) the staff including the owner Mr.Gary did everything that possibly could to offer me alternatives to get the repairs done. Mr.Gary even took the time out to sit and talk with me about all the options I had and just life in general. He converse with me as a father would to their own daughter which is something I never had. I truly appreciate the excellent customer service, honesty and integrity this company has. I would absolutely recommend anyone to Jim Jennings shop as they are professional and kind. If I ever have any car issues or even if I need their advice prior to purchasing a vehicle I will definitely go back for their support and business. Thank you Mr.Gary and Ray for assisting during this challenging time in my life.

These guys are truly amazing. Between their customer service and how they took care of my SUV the best that they could, I truly could not have asked for any better. They were understanding to my situation and even offered their honest opinion when most would have lied to just get their money. If you truly want people who care and are honest, call them. This review is an update from my prior review. Once I drove my vehicle off the lot, within 3 hours my car was overheating. I called Jim Jennings back and they had me bring the vehicle back immediately. They checked everything and replaced two parts. They showed me the two parts and the one part was cracked . They said it had nothing to do with the transmission, They did the additional work free of charge..I really appreciated that gesture. The guys were very kind, understanding and professional. I recently had the transmission in my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder rebuilt by Jim Jennings and they did an amazing job. The price was initially a concern but that's what you have to pay for quality work. After the job was done I felt comfortable with my investment as the warranty they provide is very good and the vehicle now drives like new. They also installed an external transmission cooler which is a nice upgrade over stock and will keep the transmission nice and cool. Overall I can say I am %100 happy with the work they did. I also had them work on the manual transmission out of my 240sx and they did a fantastic job on that as well. Jim Jennings is an honest, old school shop that does things the right way. Hard to find places like this anymore. Two thumbs up from me!

It's not like it use to be. Had my sons truck for over a month. He had it back and less then a month later they had it again. They didn't put the transmission in right breaking the flex plate. Had the truck another 3 weeks for that. Call one time Said it was done son went to pick it up was still doing the samething. So they had it for a few more days. I don't think I will go there again. They acted it was no big deal having truck that long and it wasn't fixed right in the first place.

I had an amazing experience by taking my sons vehicle to Jim Jennings to install a transmission. From the start until I received the finished product I was explained in detail on what is required in order to have the car operate properly. The staff was pleasant professional n nice, and the follow up was FANTASTIC. This experience has allowed me to have high standards and expectations when seeking service for any of my vehicles. I highly recommend others that if you are seeking to get your vehicle serviced or need a transmission placed in your vehicle that you take it to Jim Jennings Transmission. You will receive quality service from start to finish .

This is 100% a great place to take your car. You won't find better customer service anywhere else.I believed my car was in great condition but one day, randomly, it's transmission just stopped working. I had recently bought the car, a 2008 Saturn vue, and took good care of it, so I was shocked. I took it to three different shops, including Firestone and the Chevrolet dealership, where I was charged over a thousand dollars just trying to figure out what was wrong with it, and was basically told nothing. After discovering Jennings transmission, they told me within a day what was wrong and how they could fix it. I debated for a long time what to do, fix my transmission or get a new car, and the employees at the shop were incredibly understanding and helpful. They gave me great advice throughout the whole process. I personally don't know a lot about cars but they explained everything thoroughly in a way I could easily understand. I decided to have them rebuild my transmission completely which was done in just a week. They also kept me posted constantly on the condition of the car. I paid much less than the dealership was selling to me, for a transmission I have faith in because the guys at this shop are very genuine, trustworthy people. I called on a day they were closed and they still took the time to talk to me on the phone even though the man wasn't even in the shop. Definitely would recommend this place on customer service alone!!

I first took my car, a 2005 Dodge Neon, to Jim Jennings about a year ago because I thought I might be having some transmission troubles. They kept it for a test drive and Gary himself explained to me what he found - what I was experiencing were some occasional engine slips, not a problem with my transmission. I wasn't charged for this evaluation, which in this day and age, I thought was pretty cool. Then this past June my car broke down just outside my work and I had it towed back to Jim Jennings because I felt I could trust them with any repair work. I was right. For what I felt was a fair price, they replaced my cracked radiator and took apart my transmission to make sure I hadn't chewed it up when I drove it around with nearly half the fluid missing. Luckily, there weren't any metal shavings in the pan and I went on my way after they explained to me in great detail (and in layman's terms) what had happened. The whole experience made me feel like I was dealing with a family friend rather than a shop looking to make their dime. Just recently I noticed my car was leaking transmission fluid and I brought it back in to have it diagnosed - this time it was a cracked solenoid. When JC called me with the diagnosis, he told me he'd only charge me for the replacement part and waive the labor costs since I had just been in there for work in June! Wow! What exceptional service! I am very appreciative of Jim Jennings honest business and their friendly service. If you have any troubles with your transmission, take it here - you'll be glad you did!

My transmission died one month after the car warranty expired. I was fortunate enough to get a great referral from a company that did not work on foreign cars. I spoke directly with JC over the phone and he could hear my hesitation to spend thousands of dollars for a new transmission. He calmly asked me some questions which helped me to make up my mind. His calm and professional demeanor was a memorable experience. In addition, when he told me that he serviced the Post Office vehicles, I was sold. Who wants to mess with the Post Office? :):). His entire staff are the most professional and customer-centric service group around. I got great service and continue to get my car serviced there annually. Next year my vehicle will be 12 years old and it still runs great! I highly recommend Jim Jennings for your transmission needs. You will be a happy customer too.

I highly recommend Jim Jennings transmission to anyone who needs service done on their vehicle. I had my transmission rebuilt and I am totally satisfied with the service I had received. Everyone their is very nice and professional. I had the pleasure to meet JC and Gary. Thank you again Gary for your help. You went above and beyond to help me with my 02 ford explorer. My explorer feels like new. If anyone is looking for an honest mechanic shop I highly recommend them. I would not go any where else!! You guys are the best!!

Jim Jennings is awesome! I had a vehicle with a bad transmission that I sent to one mechanic who couldn't work on it. He recommended Jim Jennings. I took the vehicle there and within a day or two they diagnose the problem and gave me an accurate quote. I had an issue that cause me to not be able to pay right away. They allowed my car to sit there even after the work was complete. They have great customer service and excellent follow through. This is a great professional business!

I recently had work done on my car..at Jim Jennings Transmission,they did a excellent Job. They saved ma a lot of money,cause every other shop even the dealer suggested a new transmission that was to costly. Jim Jennings Transmission customer service was even better then most places..they made me feel really Confident that they knew what they were talking about & doing..they kept me informed of everything... I didn't have to call them ..they called me .I had a most pleasant experience with them & I would recommend to anyone that is experiencing any Transmission problems to give them a call,you won't be disappointed

Very professional and once the parts came in my truck was done very quickly. The staff is highly knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with and is the cheapest around with the BEST warranty for their work, and the staff is extremely honest and trustworthy and, I cannot say enough know what they are doing. I hope I don t have any transmission issues in my other truck but if I do I know where I m taking it.Service: Transmission

I had a noise problem that I though was a ? transmission issue but was hoping it was really going it was coming from my wheels. I took my car to Jim Jennings because I'm a woman and read all the great reviews on Google about the shop. I was wonderfully amazed they were more than I expected. They had my car there for about 3 days mainly because of bad weather. They did all the checks and drove it for miles to determine where the noise was coming from and it sadly was a transmission problem They never charged me for the diagnosis and were honest and told me to take it to a dealer since it was under factory warranty due to low millage. I wasn't aware of this warranty. They explainedto me it knowing if I hadn't been informed they could have gotten the business like to many shops would have done. They were honest knowledgeable and kind. I have recommended them to my entire family and many friends already. I would drive an hour or more to use them if I ever have any engine or transmission problems in the future, they are that trustworthy!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH JIM JENNINGS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND HONESTLY!
